Rom Update Issue - HD2 General

I got the rom update utility and I followed the instructions but it wont install. It just sits at 0%. Any ideas?

Hspl......

Yeah lol skipped a step but now every NAND rom I try to install I get NAND kernal failed to load or something like that...

2.08.hspl
Plus
Radio, ..50.. version
Needed to correctly run nand. Got both those?
And no offence but " NAND kernal failed to load or something " will only make less people want to help.what error? If you missed it do it again and write the error down, with the added bonus that you can Google an exact error, you can't Google "kernel something blahblah "
These threads only work with accurate and complete info.

Did you start with a custom ROM or a stock ROM? I've heard some people say that starting the process with a stock ROM helps? Not sure why that would matter, but if flashing MAGLDR again doesn't work, try it.
Thanks, i'm using a custom rom with the last drivers ( BSB 7) and i just reinstalled magldr an the problem persist.
I suggested the following to a user this morning who had the same problem and he managed to install. I'm not sure which of the steps are all necessary but give it a try.
1. Turn off your pc Anti Virus.
2. Re-download your NAND rom zip file
3. Remove sd card
4. Run daf.exe as Administrator.
How hard is it to understand that "questions" get asked in the "Q&A" forum and general stuff gets discussed in the "general" forum.
This forum is for "development"
simply install winmo stock rom, and do everything again (installing magldr n rom), it'll work...
Thanks i reinstall all again and well done
Few pointers to several errors
Hi everyone, I did some reading and some trials and errors...
had 2 errors when flashing mdj's revolution nand with my xp-monster:
Error Description: USB init failed Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723)
solution;
- untick usb-connections in active sync, then run install/daf/andr_install -.exe
then came the next misshap..
Error Description: send partition data failed Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (802)
Error Description: Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (545)
had this one with the other mdj's build also (rev. HD). several times (kept trying, cuz one came very close (progress bar I mean).
then read somewhere that taking out the SD Card might help..
solution;
- take out SD Card.
now I'm nursing my AD-Sense baby
hope this helps

I can confirm this also.
i am like the other two posters. tried removing card, flashing stock rom and still get that error message right at the end of the process. have tried on two different pcs
same problem
i have the same problem as the people in this thread and it started when i tried to flash windows phone 7. now i cant even flash an android rom to nand using magldr1.11. and yes i have tried task 29 and yes i have got the 2.15.5etc radio and yes i have hspl 2.08 and so far i have tried using a different usb port. everything i try lands me in the same place and i am getting desperate because i fear that i have bricked my hd2 not good for me! so any method that is different from the ones i have read from this thread and a few other threads then i would be happy to listen.
also i have noticed that all of the solutions to this problem are based on trying and trying again, this doesn't work for me cos i have tried about 30 times no exaggeration.
i appreciate any help.

How far did you get with the WP7 install? The problem with WP7 is that it formats your sd card and it is not always recognised properly. Try formatting your sd card again.
using the usb flasher tool the progress bar goes nowhere but the partitions are created and the data is starting to transfer (nothing happens to the sd card i can always see it and access it after using an external reader). i get a bad crc error and i assume that crc means cyclic redundancy check so i guess the magldr is assuming that the partition is bad. however i can still use the partitions by flashing a custom winmo rom to nand so i am assuming that either magldr is not able to create the partitions properly. does magldr create the partitions on the sd card? if so then your answer of reformatting the sd card could be valid? ill have to try it. however i assume that winPhone 7 creates the partitions on the sd card so this trying will be in vain.
however i will try reformatting the sd card so i ask which format should i use, fat32 or ntfs
thanks for the help.
its probably worth noting that even trying to flash a rom without the sd card achieves the same errors with magldr1.11 and 1.12 while trying to flash an android rom.
so to use android now i am forced to use the old method of going through win mo to boot android with haret.

[Solution] flash write failed while flashing NAND-ROM

i had the Problem when i was flashing a NAND-ROM via DFT that i got this error-messages:

Error Description: flash write failed.
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (586)

i thought my NAND-Memory was corrupted and searched this forum and saw, that there are many peolpe having this problem without a solution.
Here is the way it worked for me:
1. i flashed back to WinMo 6.5
2. i flashed a 2.15_50 Radio-ROM (before 2.14_50)
3. if flashed MAGLDR 1.11
after this the error-messages went away and i was able to flash all NAND-ROMs.
I've had that error several times too. I found the issue to be various things.
One time it was related to the HSPL not being correct. Reflashing that part solved the issue on on device. In another instance, the phone wasn't properly communicating with the PC, so rebooting the PC and restarting activsync resolved it on that device.
I don't believe going back to WinMo is necessary, but if it worked for you, cool.
I've flashed and reflashed 3 different devices with various mods looking for the one I like best and I've found patience is the key factor all the way around.
Happy flashing.
Thats not necessary all you have to do is right click on DAF.exe and run as administrator

i always run DAF as admin and if it would have been this easy, there wouldnt be so much people having trouble with it.
i also did the usual things like reboot PC, flashing magldr 1.11/1.12, task29 and so on, but i didnt get rid of this error-messages. Therefore i was thinking that my nand was defective and i wanted to know, if i can flash a WinMo-ROM. After the Winmo-Rom-flashing was no problem i decided to give it a last try and it worked.
Remove your SD card before launching the flash... It solves the problem for me!

It looks like you have to start all over from the beginning, try a youtube tutorial there are many out there and many of the more experienced techs on here actually post those videos. Good luck and make sure you follow it step by step. Also check out a thread by a moderator by the name of MSkip he posted on here directions on how to install a rom on your phone.. it's located in the HD2 section.
I think you've probably got everything right except for the actual ROM flash. There aren't too many Android NAND roms that you can flash the usual way (i.e the DAF like loaders you used for HSPL and magldr), but you can try flashing CWM and then a good NAND Android rom. Check out the Android NAND development forum for a suitable rom to flash, you'll most likely find the relevant instructions there. Or you can start over with YouTube tutorials to guide you (that's what I did). Best of luck.

[Q] new HD2 owner with issues! Please help :)

I have a HD2 but the down button is not working.
It has magldr 1.3 installed and the phone is running CM7. The mod version is MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 (v2.6) A2SD+
I really want to install a more up to date rom,a miui rom would be my chosen way.
Ive tried going through the process for one such rom.
I get to the point of running DAF and I get the following error:-
An error has occurred
Read below for more information
Error Description: Config load failed.
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (725)
Error Description: CONFIG: file not exist
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (359)
After this I tried selecting the AD recovery option I get this message in MAGLDR saying "No boot sources"
Ive no idea if cLK is even installed on the phone.
Any help with repairing the down button would be great. Ive seen new housings on ebay and one thread I read suggested this would replace the volume rocker. can anyone confirm this or a way of repairing it would be great.
Im not new to Android but I usually use clockwork mod on my other devices.
This HD2 Android experience is totally new!
I know that using clockwork mod I dont need a down button because I can go straight into recovery from rom manager. I have rom manager on the phone and have installed clockwork mod but what ever I do the phone just goes into MAGLDR.
Ive spent the best part of today trying to sort this out but all ive ended up with is a huge headache.
Any help would be really appreciated!
Welcome to the world of HD2
go to these steps:
- Run Task29 (will delete you phone storage complete (all data will be erase!)).
- Make sure you've got the right radio rom - but i think so
- install MAGLDR or CLK - i would prefer magldr for beginners
- flash Clockwork Mod Recovery
- flash your rom
if you need help with these steps, look in the forum after the HD2 Toolkit or even take a look with my tool (see signature) - its not up2date - but the steps and the tools which im using are )
i hope i can help ya a bit
edit:
oh your down button dont work - bad.. no down button no clockworkmod :/
Hi aagain, I'm glad you started a new thread.
I'd get a magldr user to confirm this before you try it but I think the 'no boot sources' error means cwm isn't present or corrupt. I know magldr users can flash cement via DAF but don't know if you have to do it from trial colour screen, if so your SOL. Try looking into flashing recovery via adb fastboot, I'm sorry I don't have time to research more for you, have a driving lesson in 10 min's
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
Thanks for your reply.
I tried doing a task 29 wipe but the problem is I need a down button to get the phone in that mode.
Hmm ive never used adb fastboot but is it possible to do everything I need to do with this to get it working this way?
Update:-
I found a past post saying about AD recovery No sources found error and a fix was given where you used to HD2 tookit to do a MAGLDR Repartition.
I tried this and I can now access clockwork mod via MAGLDR.
Ok ive now been able to install the miui rom I wanted.
Many thanks for your help guys

Can't restore phone back to normal - PLEASE HELP! I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING

By the way, I tried installing HSPL 3.0.3 and it keeps saying wrong vendor or bad ID or something along those lines.
Any suggestions? I'm open to anything haha
(First of all, I hate videos, even though it's far more better than "my phone is not working" threads)
Okay, we need to know the history of the device. What was the last thing you tried to do before which the phone was working correctly?
Second thing, since you don't have HSPL, you need the correct ROM for your device. (not any rom will work)
Finally, you need HSPL4 package, to install HSPL if you have SPL 3.03.
Good luck fixing it .
(correct me if I'm wrong)

I tried restoring it back to factory defaults (via putting the recovery package in the root of the SD card, but it keeps giving me that wretched error code!
BTW here's a screenshot of my tri-screen. I tried installing HSPL4 but it popped up with an error code "wrong vendor ID" .
