Hi all,
Is it possible to extract out the SBF from the upcoming Motorola Pro?
If so how is it done? Can I use RSDlite to extract out?
Then can I use RSDlite to flash the SBF to a Motorola DROID Pro?
If you can advise I'd be very grateful.
I cant see why something like that cant be done, physically the phones are identical bar the eu version has 8gb built in. software wise its bloody awful.
I loaded the only custom rom available on today which actually allowed me to roam properly in uk and pick up orange whilst three signal was being pants. Their is problems with the graphics in th ui with that custom rom though. still it makes me wanna keep phone now as i was a bit disheartened with the bloat ware and custom menus.
Its supposed to be a 1st quarter release for the euro pro so not lang to wait and see if anything is possible.
Thanks machode - I agree completley built in software is crap.
I'm also hoping the new flashed phone will pick up signals better.
I'm convinced the USA lock on certain bands affects how good of a connection we make here.
To give you an idea, I had Giffgaff and can at most get 2 bars (centre of Birmingham and sometimes London for work) but switching to a 'normal' android phone, I easily got 3 and most of the time 4 bars of H.
I'm hoping the flash is indeed possible.
The UK site of motorola already has some info on the motorola pro - so you're right its release is immanent.
http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/G.../Mobile-Phones/Motorola-PRO-GB-EN?localeId=24
Yea completely agree with you guys... im on Virgin (T-Mobile UK lines) and most of the time i get only 1-2 bars of H... even when probably standing directly underneath a spot I only get 3 of 4..
Do you guys notice the problem of the H sometimes just dropping even though you have signal, like it not being totally stable? Or is that just me being paranoid? Funnily enough, even though it only displays 1 or 2 bars of H, when its there, its still pretty fast .. enough for tethering IMO.
I really do hope a cross-flash between the devices will be possible. I mean it should not be a hard task to do as the two phones are literally the same in every aspect.. lets keep hoping!
Anyone else? Your expertise would be very appreciated

how strong was your signal bars with the custom rom? better than stock?

He's probably talking about the Fission ROM. This ROM uses the stock baseband, so the signal & data issues will be the same as the stock ROM.

stock rom doesnt allow me to roam properly. on three i was getting 0-1 bar or just losing signal all together without it being able to roam onto orange which is what it will do on any other phone i have had. on the custom rom it was properly roaming onto orange giving me full signal.
there is not problem with signal, its the configuration that motorola have setup on it for global use, you dont have all the normal network options to configure the phone as with other android phones.
Geeez.. what I would give to get a hold of that OS and Baseband!!!

Funnily enough.. it still lists the model number even on that device they had at the convention as Droid Pro!?
Also look at that 3G reception... !! 4 bars!!! A sight I could only dream of ...
EDIT: Sorry, my mistake .. even 5 bars! Lol.. the scale on mine only goes to 4, probably for a good reason.
Also interesting... hands-on with the Pro on that convention in Barcelona. The guy flicks through the menu a little bit.. if any of you guys understands French its fairly interesting, if not he basically just introduces it, doenst seem he had any background knowledge about the Droid Pro in the US but compares it with the BlackBerry a lot, especially the keyboard. He also says that he spoke to one of the Motorola guys at the convention and they said that they are expecting an official Gingerbread upgrade, but no official date was given. It is also interesting to see that its stripped of any VZ stuff but nevertheless blur'ed... :/

I'm sure you're right mate - the moto flavour of android is quite poor and overloaded with crap - which helped you pick up better signal with custom rom and same (backend) baseband as the original.
Someone put more extensive tips on configuring this phone:

I'll try it when I can.

I'd love to flash it onto our DROIDs!
Have you tried speedtest android app? What download speeds are you getting?
Part of me is convinced some of the radio band lock affects signal, but it's NOT supposed to - only in America. Here in the UK we shouldn't be affected...

Nice link and info - it's good to know about gingerbread. Moto was supposed to update it with corporate features including security etc too.

I pick up no signal in my office anymore, I used to quite happily on the other 2 mobiles I had. Every one else on O2 were fine.
Any one else have issues with this?
Perhaps the phone dosnt recept that good, but I just caled from the basement, with 2 dots, not sure, but works for me
Many people have reported this issue, even mentioned in the engadget review. I too think the reception on the X1 is worse than any phone ive owned before.
Im sure people who are reporting no problems are those in strong signal areas.
reception is poor on the x1 my work ordered 150 units which all went back. SE said they will have a new revision Jan09 a rom upgrade will not fix this issue. They need to revise the antenna. I sent my phone back today as at work it could not hold a 3g signal were my HTC Diamond PRO does both on the same network.
The X1 is a good phone but 2 problems for me it is not a keeper the bad keyboard
and reception issues.
well I have it for a few days, and no I haven't been having any issues with it.
Of course I haven't been to anywhere remote that I can really test it out, other than at home that reception is around 1 or 2 bars with all phones that I have used for many years.
I do not find the reception of my x1 inferior to any of the phone I have previously had. The last phone I had was a nokia n95. Now a phone that I find to have poor reception would be the iMate JasJam.
Thanks guys. What do you reckon SE will do if i send this back for the new ver when it comes out? Wonder what the legal position is. I used to have no problem until i got this phone. apart from that one issue, i would not change a single thing about the x1.
I am also having a very poor reception compared to the other SE phones I had. But it is a "usable" reception.
Yes my signal is very very poor, i changed from orange to vodafone. With my Orange sim card in I could get 'G' in all areas, but with my voda sim, i get no signa in MOST' places. Rediculous, whats the point in a having an awsome phone if you cant use it, I am taking it back tomorrow and getting one from carphone warehouse on orange.
People on Expansys are withnissing the same.
http://www.expansys.nl/ft.aspx?k=115460
Hi
I have the same issue - its much worse than my Kaiser. I have the feeling that it performs better @ 1800MHz than it does at 900MHz.
Hopefully HTC/SE will fix it. Trouble is there is an extra company in the loop now. HTC make changes and pass to SE, SE reviews, and passes to Operator, Operator Reviews and makes available to end user. Might take a new radio a year to pass through that process ;-)
Nigel
I am having he same problem too!
Mine would drop connection randomly from 2 bars to searching mode and then reconnect at 1 or 2 bars again. It really is annoying because I keep missing calls because of the random dropouts
I am not haveing problems, per se, but i do not get as strong a signal as others do, in the same places, who are also using 02 phones (not X1).
We tend to work in outlying country areas of Cheshire,UK, so it is expected to not get as good a signal as city folk.
However, i have only been in one area, to date, where i could get no signal at all, so i am reasonably content.
I have to say in its (X1) defence, even with low signal, i have not had a breaking up call yet. It is good and clear, with no drops.
It is possible that radio reception on this phone could be affected to a degree, by all that gorgeous stainless steel surrounding it?
I talked to SE yesterday about my issues with 3G reception. SE said that it might be caused by a faulty simcard. So I'm gonna order a new simcard and try that before I even think of returning my phone.
SE also said that a rom update is due in a few weeks. I Didn't get an exact date..
no problem with reception for my X1i, especially at home.
But maybe because I have this at home

well I may as well contribute by sharing the pain - reception is horrible at my place too! I m between 0 and 2 bars (changing randomly between no signal and 2)
I REALLY hope there is gonna be some sort of fix to improve the antenna perfomance cause this is a major drawback especially considering that I live in the centre of London (zone 1) and that I get full signal on other phones.

i get poor reception - i work in mayfair - which i would say is central enough london? What network is everybody on? mine is on vodafone - is this over all networks? does anyone find there to be a better network in london?
Well I have been using my X1 on O2... To be fair it seems to be on par as my C902...
At home... I never have had good recepetion ususally 2/3 bars however on the X1 at times I get full bar... Calls are clear even on low reception. At work 90% the recpetion is HIGH... I live in the London area too...
Cheers
My reception is OK - 3g reception in my house is slightly better than my old P1.
I've not really been out into any rural areas yet but i've not lost my signal anywhere yet!
I'm on o2 - I wonder if the x1 performs worse on different bands?

Hmm- I'm on vodafone, maybe that is the problem. My reception is abysmal- bad enough to make the phone unusable, I'm based in Uxbridge just ot the west of London.
i think its a vf problem, before my number was transferred across i used my tmobile sim in tthe x1 and got better reception than with my athena.
reception with vf is erratic, i wonder if they use different frequencies?
we need a new radio i think rather than full rom
complain to vf, i have, i was sold this on having full 3g coverage, yet barely get recption at times at home
Hey guys... Are there any significant differences between the different GSM versions of the SNAP? I know USA uses 1900MHz 3G but UK uses 2100MHz. Do all the versions have the capability to use ANY band?
I don't want to be stuck with a 2100MHz phone in USA. Are S521 and S522 virtually the same?
Anyone know?
A far as I know, I've never seen a phone that can support both. You need to wait for the US version to use the US 3g.

Yea, i ended up getting my Dash 3G this past weekend. I got it 2 days after the ROM date on it. Haha! Now to start cooking...
Two questions about the new Dash:
1. Is the battery removable? I have the extended battery on my Dash but it looks like the back is one piece on the Snap, so I doubt you can use it, but I'd still like to get a larger battery for a Snap.
2. Can you use the T-Zones hack?
Thanks,
Marc

the back on the snap/dash3g is one whole piece, but the standard battery for it is 1500mAh and it surely is removable ... I know that with my original dash, the extended 1500mAh battery is huge and required a new cover.
I'm still slightly on the fence about the 3G mainly because I'm still adjusting to the offset keyboard vs. the straight line of the original, and the scroll ball is still throwing me off on internet use.
I hope that there is an option to resume Internet Explorer sessions if I exit out, because currently when I exit out of IE, and pull it up again, it starts a full new session which kind of sucks if I'm browsing and need to send a txt or make a note of something.
other than that, I really enjoy the phone thus far, though I've only had mine a few hours.
see i'm actually looking FORWARD to it and I really like the fact that t-mobile is the only carrier who's phone are offset like an actual keyboard(I currently own a g1 which has the offset keyboard). Everyone else's phones are straight line keyboards. That's not a deal breaker but coming from a G1(persona phone) to a Fuze(work phone) I can't really get used to it. I still get thrown off.
so i have the Ozone..which is verizon's version of it and to be honest the off set everyone describes isnt that bad. yea ill admit it, ive missed the space bar a couple times, but like everything else it just takes some getting used too. But heres a pic of what they all look liked lined up against one another :

I think they're different devices. The Dash3G and HTC branded SNAP are HTC MAPLE and The Sprint and Verizon versions are HTC WILLOW- CDMA only. Means hardware and ROMS will probably be different as well...

I will need to get my hands on a Verizon and Sprint Version to do some R&D but I should be able to...
BGR has a new post that has photos of what they believe to be the AT&T version of Galaxy S II with a slide out keyboard. It also includes a couple of benchmarks; Linkpack and Quadrant. I can't believe that AT&T would do this... looks like I'm not getting the AT&T version...
http://www.bgr.com/2011/07/26/exclusive-images-of-atts-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-revealed/
oh my GOD thats ugly!! good thing i live in the UK, no carriers changing my device
Looks really ugly, it will just add to phone's thickness.. and even the camera looks weird in those photos!
Electricpig notes that the Linpack benchmark is about 18.6% higher than an unlocked Galaxy S II (58.544 MFLOPS vs 47.606 MFLOPS)... leading them to suspect that they bumped the CPU from 1.2 to 1.4. However, Quadrant doesn't seem to show much improvement (3056) but then again, Quadrant isn't the most consistent benchmark.

is it just me or does the phone seem smaller than a international gs2 across the front of the screen? did they drop it down to 4"?
If Sprint also drastically changes the design then they have lost my purchase.

Corporate users love keyboards. They are also a prime target for LTE. Going this route kind of makes sense if this is their first LTE phone launched. I'm glad I got the unbasterdized version. Remember, the Z/R got FCC approval on AT&T's bands too. Maybe they'll carry that one also as their more consumer oriented version.
i'm not convinced this is att's official (or only) sgs2. the layout is completely different: camera placement, bottom physical button for instance.

Does this...
Or this...
Look like this...
SGH-i897 is the model number for AT&T's SGS1 so the model number for whatever phone's in the first post uses the same naming convention. Last round, Sprint got the keyboard. This time it looks like it'll go to AT&T.
damn, you're right. our only hope is this is not AT&T's version.
My biggest concern is that AT&T will screw with it so much that we'll need special developers for it. I think I would lose my mind if I went to flash a super duper kernel and it blew up in my hands.
Thank goodness I got the unmolested version of this device. Leave it to US carriers to take something amazing then ruin it.

Even if they left the majority of the phone as-is, you'll never be able to flash international ROMs due to the different radio(s). I'm sure devs working on it will be able to re-use a lot of what's already been developed but the phone will be too different to share s/w with other versions.
I just got really dissapointed really quickly. Im fine with having four buttons but the slide out keyboard is almost the point of being useless

that is entirely untrue...
The captivate for ATT can use international sgs 1 roms with a kernal that rotates the screen correctly the only difference is that the FM radio didn't work on the captivate as there was no FM radio.
ATT world phones use the same international frequencies as international phones. i currently have an internationall sgs2 and am using it with att with 4g.
keyboard not for me.... Good that I got the international sgs2
Also the Samsung galaxy R kinda looks nice and solid, even though lower specs and slightly thicker.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Its like they didn't want to release a phone thinner than the iPhone and maybe this even dissolves them of being liable and possibly being sued for selling it as-is. I'm not trying to be a fandroid or anything but I can't help think the ongoing legal battles between samsung and Apple somehow effected the outcome ... disenchanted ... but still optimistic ... would be nice to get new dimensions and weight of this bastardizes phone.

Big plus is that it's alegedly equipped to access Att LTE.
This data connection really has me teetering on selling it.

Anyway, its cheap (~250$) and seems a tad better than my current GS3, just dk If i'll be able to use it in Israel if I ever get my hands on one of those. Im dying to upgrade but everything seems to suck, except maybe honor 6 in terms of specs vs price vs not being ugly (including small bezels) vs availability.
I kinda want to get the crystal just to go full hipster about it @ work/friends
SIM card? Unlocked? etc...
Hello everybody...
I am a big fun of Sharp cell phones... I am %00 sure about this... Sharp is the BEST... Forget the rest...
Anyway )) Is there anybody who knows if this phone has SIM card... And possible to find unlocked device etc...
Thanks a LOT!
Chances are that the Softbank version will have one since it is a GSM/WCDMA carrier. The only problem would be getting it unlocked.
Things are a bit murkier for the Sprint version. Sprint is a CDMA carrier and I don't believe many of their phones have GSM/WCDMA sim card slots. Or at least accessible SIM card slots.
My hopes are lying on the Crystal X coming. I would definitely opt back to Sprint for it.
I would buy this if its possible to use in the UK on the GSM networks, I dont even care about the 4G bands too much, so 3G seems to work great in my city without being too slow.
So lets all hope when its out, we can root and unlock the phone to use on other network's. (If supported base bands)
Not seen any development for Sharp phones, so not sure on their policies with bootloaders and security.
I've read the front covering for the display is only plastic. I wonder how easily that will scratch as opposed to something like gorilla glass.
I think that smartphone make by japan is wonderfull to use foe everry one . I like Aquos sharp
It seems like it has a removable back. Is it really? I searched for videos removing it but haven't found any. And if it is removable does it allow you to put any Sim or battery you want? Because those two are the only deal breakers for me. If it does allow for a plethora of batteries then the first I would do is buy one with extended capacity (2000 mah doesn't cut it), or at least a second battery as a backup. And, if it does allow you to swap Sim cards, maybe devs here would figure a way to allow for full gsm support as they did with other sprint phones.
If anyone will bring any more info on those two issues (no matter in what language may the info or video is posted) it would be really helpful.

I also have questions about that but didn't find a video. Might be because its either new and still not released, also I have questions about if it will work on UK 3g.
I love the design and have been jealous about the other sharp phones with minimal bezel that have been in japan for a long time.
I would really like to buy/import this phone but only if 3g will work on my carrier.

I've found this image but the Sim card slot is more than likely for 4G LTE on Sprint/Virgin/Boost
Hope we get a release date soon as I really want this phone on Virgin.
I read somewhere that the first one will be a 5" screen, the specs are kind of weak............but supposedly in December there will be a 5.5" screen version with better specs (ram, etc.).
i just bought this phone the other day and have really, really like it. i was wondering if any is rooting it so we have a little more control over what goes on it and what it can do. it's definitely high style and that's a plus!

I'm really hoping this phone gets root as well. It's amazing device but root access is definitely important to me for Foldermount and Wi-Fi Tether. Giving it's quality design and very affordable price, I'd say it's going to be a good seller for Boost and Virgin mobile. It looks better than the $600 S5 it's $149..

and that's what's so sad. a phone costing much more looks like an old LG. I think the Galaxy Alpha is supposed to change that but whatev. I really like this phone and it grows on me daily. no compliments an iPhone because EVERYONE (mainly older people that I've seen) has one and they all look the same. and the Galaxy S series never caught anyone's eye ever so there was nothing there with that. I never wanted my phone to say "look at me" but this one is so pretty and it seems everyone else thinks so as well if I judge by how many time people grab my hand in a store! it's a great design either way and worth every penny! and I think the performance is wonderful too!

eBay with paypal.
Flushed my WindMobile moto X XT1563 with "XT1563_LUX_RETCA_6.0_MPD24.65-18.1_cid14_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml" and all was well (was getting H+ for connection/speed) until the phone asked to be updated. Now, after update I only get 3G connection/speed. The phone is reporting "24.61.52.lux_retca.retca.en.CA endca" system version and "MPD24.107-52" build version.
Does anyone know how to fix the connection/speed (how to get H+ connection/speed)?
Thank you.

I'm having the very same issue, had H+ with 6.0 and now after the update I'm stuck on 3G always. Any help is appreciated.
Hi guys, I came to xda right now to ask this exact question. I am also on Canada, on the Hamilton area, with wind. I used to have h+ service before with my moto e 2nd gen, no problem and also when I bought the moto x play. After the update I am only able to have 3G showing. The speed seems the same, but I am unsure? I went to lime Ridge mall "wind repair store", they said "everything was good and that wind doesn't have 4G".
I tried everything on the phone and I am also stuck. How can we unite on this problem?
From what I can find it appears that this is just a display thing and you are still getting the same speed as before.
Read here: https://www.reddit.com/r/windmobile/comments/3vzhsu/has_wind_changed_something_around_vancouver/cxs5afb
The short answer is that MM seems to have changed what it considers "H+". A better test would be to downgrade and do some speed testing and then repeat after upgrading again to MM.
Unless you are definitely seeing a speed decrease then that's something you would probably have to take up with Wind. I've personally had my speed increase recently because Wind updated some towers in my area.
What does it say when you go to "Settings->About Phone->Status" for "Network Type"?

On MM6.0 it said HSPA and on 6.0.1 it says UMTS.
That would suggest I am not actually connecting to H+.
ok. so i have run speed tests for my Moto X Play (the one with the 'problem' ...no H+) and a Moto G (the Moto G is showing H+)
for the Moto G the Network Signal Info app is showing (DC)HSPA+ *42.2Mbps and the network indicator is showing H+. The speed/s for the Moto G (as reported by Speedtest) average about 11Mbps download and 2.5Mbps upload
for the Moto X Play the Network Signal Info app is showing UTMS *384 kbps and the network indicator is showing 3G. The speed/s for the Moto X Play (as reported by Speedtest) average about 11.5Mbps download and 2.5Mbps upload.
...apparently no difference in speed despite having different networks type reported.

Thank you for this guy's. I was actually concerned I had a problem with the phone or the rom itself. But lol... I want the icon back haha

That actually makes sense. If 6.0.1 no longer considers Wind's HSPA as "H+" then it's not going to show "HSPA" here either. HSPA is part of (well, an enhancement to) UMTS so it's technically correct.
I think the big thing would be a before and after speed test. Or ask Wind, maybe they have a definitive answer.
I just did a speed test myself - I got 8.2 down and 1.7 up which is not bad considering my location (right on the edge of Wind's coverage). This is definitely HSPA (albeit lower end of the scale) and my phone says "UMTS" as well.

Here's a possible answer:
Looking at this page you'll see there's various releases of HSPA+. Maybe 6.0.1 considers, say for example, Release 7 and higher as "HSPA" and anything lower as just plain ole UMTS whereas previous Android versions were more lenient.
Anywho, just a possibility, I don't know the answer myself and it could be different for your situation.
Guys... Several wind users here, so it makes sense to ask. How is your battery life? I cannot get 5 hours SOT on matter what I do, or don't and with that, I get 12 hours of usage. I have everything practically off, and purchased the phone less than 2 weeks ago..

Read up on amplify + greenify with Xposed if you are rooted.
My current setup has me at 6+ SOT, and have stand-by at 1.1%/hr (with wifi, bluetooth, nfc on).
I've only had it for 2 weeks, so I'm still tweaking amplify and have been tinkering with "smart network 2" to toggle wifi / gps / nfc - on / off to lower my usage on stand-by.
Check out this thread on the topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884
Shouldn't we be getting even more than that? My g2 I could do 8 hours sot with similar usage
Guys.... Just got h+ showing for couple of minutes, then went away. Took screenshot

For the guys who still have the H+ problem and want it fixed:
I just flashed the radio of the 6.0 firmware and it now shows correctly again in the Statusbar and in Network Signal Info.

Yes, it seems some older radios will fix this. However, they seem to have a lot of issues with wind...

Because Wind's towers are crap, your phone has to work a bit harder to communicate. Your radio is now using a lot more juice than before.
Where do I get the radio files? Modem 1 and 2 in the firmware zip?

Yes in the official Firmwares. Just look in the Official Firmware thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/general/official-stock-firmwares-added-xt1562-t3195364
And in the flashing Guide are the commands to flash radio only: http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/guide-fastboot-flashing-factory-t3187750
But I now get the Problem that it resets to H (without the plus) after I restart. That's so annoying. I hope they will fix that (even though the hope is small).

It's funny because I am running cm13 lux, squid kernel, and sometimes for a few moments or hours it shows h+, mainly in the Toronto area. And then goes away. I haven't done anything to the radio...
