9 April I thought?

Cant anything mentioning september on the product page.
However it does have a delivery date of 9th April.
Thats only 1 month away!
Very excited, and I want one so bad. But Im abit nervous cus there's hardly any apps yet. I wonder how many decent quality apps (proper apps i mean) will there be in 6 months?
I appreciate its a brand new device etc. I just hope we get apps quickly.
Not sure Im liking this annual cycle of technology, £499 is alot of money to be out of date 12 months later and trumped by new hardware.
In the mean time, is it worth it, just for the "sofa browsing" when I already spend most of my time infront of my pc, at home and work?
I am hoping they drop the price before next month slightly to be honest...

Any info about the wifi + 3G availability in europe please ?
Ok Moto Wifi only version needs to come to the U.S., thanks!
£499 is way over the odds considering you can get a 4G unsubsidised non-discounted one in the US for less than that. Dixons group are notorious for overpricing things and you would have to be a sucker to pay that price for it.

If they get enough pre-orders then no they won't. In fact they originally priced it at £449 then quickly withdrew it and added £50.
Everyone, if you order from Dixon's there's a discount code to get 10% off. Just ordered mine at £449.99
Code is DXPC10 but only available until 8th March.

Not sure. I used a credit card so I'd only see it in my next statement.
I read some where that the UK version had silver backs, can any one confirm? also presume we can send back if not happy, Would be nice to see in the flesh before putting up the money

I'm wondering should I cancel my order and re-place it - but they have taken the money already so if it takes awhile to get the money back in my account then I'm stuffed as I can't go losing £1k from my account while I am waiting for them to sort out refunds....

I bought my Xoom before I found out they were coming out with the wifi only xoom, and i was planning on using it wifi only anyway. My problem is when i tether from my cell to my Xoom i feel like I'm on a 13k modem, its incredibly slow... I'm using my rooted Galaxy S on AT&T for the tether, with the stock tethering app. First is there a better tethering app I can try?
If not I'm thinking of getting the wifi package from verizon, but will they give me the money back for signing up for a 2 year plan... I paid $800 and they sell for $600 if you by the contract.
If they wont give the credit I can just return it and re-buy it with the contract, but are they going to charge me the $70 return fee?
Or should I return it pay the $70 and then buy the wifi only? this is only an option if i can get the tethering to work at a decent speed.... I really dont want to return it as I have all my apps and email and stuff all set up, does anyone know if verizon is planning on offering rebates for people who paid full price to just use wifi?
The tetherig does seem slow. I'm using my evo with 4g in philadelphia where I usually get good speeds on my phone but my xoom crawls loading pages.
As far as the return policy at verizon....14 days, $70 restocking fee regardless of store credit or refund.

Yes that sprint app works flawlessly, I use to use wireless tether by google but god the spfiy app is faster on 3g than that google app on 4g lol

The other day I did gchat video and it worked just like on wifi.
I use Wi-Fi tether exclusively to tether my laptop at work cuz it's faster than our Wi-Fi. One thing that's cool is that I stand it up with the kick stand and that keeps the back really cool.

bluetooth
I have gotten better and more consistent speed using the native bluetooth tether with my droidx, plus I don't have to hassle with even taking out my phone. I have heard that the bluetooth seems to be problematic for some, but for me it works way better than tether apps.
With all the cheaper tablets out now or in the near future, is anyone going to be "brave" (using a nice word) enough to buy the $800 3G Xoom anymore?
I am trying to sell my 3G Xoom (barely used) for $625 on Craigslist and I don't even get any real offer for about 1 week (except for people who wants to trade it for tatoos work).
That is a lot of savings for an almost 2 month old tablet when you take into account of not having to pay taxes.

I sold mine and got the playbook and am very pleased.
I couldnt even sell my Xoom for 625.. Sold for 600$ . When I listed my iPad 2 only 40$- retail it sold by the next day.. Xoom for a week couldnt sell for 200$- retail without me having to deal with shipping. Basically also when you buy the Xoom current 800$ price point model the price drops 1/4 immediately.
So if you buy it at say Best Buy and have 14 days remember after this your 820$+ device is really worth 6-650$
I guess im lucky i sold mine for 650 on craigslist and same as you i bought a playbook.
The playbooks screen is just amazing!
If it were a wifi only Xoom maybe, but since it's a 3g Xoom I find it pretty stupid to purchase when you can get a wifi only one for the same price. I mean sure, you can get a plan but why get a plan for something that your smartphone could tether its current plan to?
Sent from my Xoom
Why do you need a plan? The 3G that I am selling does not need any plan.
Also, I currently have the ipad, the T-mobile Galaxy Tab, the 3G Xoom, and I bought the 64 GB Playbook on opening day.
I love the Playbook so much that I have neglected to use the other 3 tablets.
I need to sell my 3G Xoom to buy the 8.9" Samsung tab in June. I have too many toys now.

But I think that is the point/problem...
If someone doesn't need/want the VZW data plan, then they don't need to spend the extra $$ on the VZW Xoom with 3G (4g upgradeable).
So if you're selling a used VZW 3G Xoom, its a tough sale when a "NEW In Box" Wifi Only Xoom can be had for $539.99 to $599.99.
Also consider the "NIB" Xoom would have a store return policy, and the warranty wouldn't have started weeks (or possibly two months per the OP) ago.
Id wait till motorola upgrades the radio so you can say its 4g capable since its free n ur waiting till june to spend the money on another tablet if it was just wifi only id sell it now but im sure some people wud like to be able to put there thunderbolt 4g unlimited data sims card in the tablet
it be a faster sell once its got its 4g radio
Lol, how many things in the world have cheaper version?
If you want a ferrari do you buy a fiat cause it still has all the wheels and an engine just lik the ferrari?
Yes, people are still buying the 3G XOOM, I paid £580GBP for mine and it was well worth it.
The Acer should be half the price, it's an entry level company.
Some people feel that using a phone as a wifi hotspot/tether just eats up the phone battery much quicker and so it's not that useful if you plan on surfing the net with the Wifi Xoom for long periods of time.
I ditched my smartphone and now pay less for the same amount of data I was using. My dumbphone is still a better phone than the smartphones I've had.

You made a good point. I will just hold onto the $625 price point until I fully upgrade to 4G and see if it will sell better. I will feel better if I use it more often before I sell so that I can get my money's worth.
tethering is just fine here - Nexus One + Xoom.
Heard about charging your phone via your Xoom using a micro-usb to micro-usb cable ... need to buy one and try it out myself cuz the Xoom battery is just awesome.

Same here (got it on the same day as well)! But I have the $30 unlimited smartphone plan from my old iPhone. Now the cost actually seems worth it since I am getting pretty decent H+ speeds.
I just hope Samsung keeps the updates coming for this phone. There seems to be a lot of interest since they got over 3 million preorders (http://www.electronista.com/articles/11/05/08/samsung.galaxy.s.ii.at.3m.pre.orders.by.may). I showed a few of my friends and they are going to get it when it comes out here in the US.
I'm still pulling the same H+ speeds I was getting on my 2GB smartphone plan. All the AT&T guys were like little kids looking at the phone. Had 6 employees gathered around.
Using it on Att still using my unlimited data for $15. Loving the phone so far, excellent speed data and phone performance.

Purchased for $756 from Clove UK.
Yip, getting H+ and loving it! Though in northern California (Bayarea), its a bit spotty, but loving it nonetheless. More so loving the non AT&T tainted or touched device. No issues so far, I wonder how the international updates are going to affect us.

I purchased though Handtec May 2nd via Google Checkout payment for $748 I believe. Had clearance/FCC paper that needed to be filled out with FeDex, but still received the device on the 5th of May. Happy with both Handtec (first time ordering with them), and FeDex considering the logistics involved.
I usually order my devices from negrielectronics.com, who have great service as well. No issues getting my Nexus S with NAM 3G band from them. Fast, and on time as well, Handtec just had the SGSII a week early.

Just order from handtec for the same cost with paypal. Awaiting for their shipping notice now.
@buddylee, I remember you when I purchase my X1, you always get the new phone so quickly.
I should be getting mine tomorrow, a day late, because they didn't have the FCC forms for customs clearance. I had to call FedEx like 5 times in order to get the form through haha. Ended up faxing it to someone, they called an hour or two later and said I would get it tomorrow.
My only concern is: What is the phone has defects? How will I have to do to return it?
Would I have to find an individual living in the UK to exchange it for a new one for me?
I'm coming from T-Mobile and their plague on humanity, the G2X. Truthfully, LG should stick to TVs but that's another story. I ordered my SGS2 from Cleverboxes and it's shipping tomorrow via NCS (whatever that means). My remorse period for the G2X is up on 5/19 so I'm getting an Inspire on 5/15 to establish service for the SGS2 on AT&T. I should be able to make a couple of hundred dollars selling a new Inspire on eBay to help offset some of the cost of the SGS2. The SIM will never have been used so the SGS2's IMEI will be what's registered with AT&T when I activate it (assuming their process is the same as T-Mobile's).
Part of what screwed up the G2X is all the T-Mobile crapware that's installed on what's supposed to be a vanilla Google phone. I'm glad to pay the extra money for an unbranded SGS2 just not to have to deal with carrier software, OS modifications, and dependency on them for updates. I also checked and the Samsung warranty is valid since it's a UK phone purchased in the UK. It can even be serviced in the U.S. under their global warranty program. That's something to consider for those of you buying overseas products and getting invoices from a company here in the U.S.
I can't wait for it to get here and be rid of T-Mobile and to have a high quality phone again. I was thinking of getting a Sensation on T-Mobile when it comes out 6/8 but the whole G2X debacle did me in.
I will never get a device from my carrier even with a discount. I am more happy with my device paying full price and without all the carrier bloatware and/or hardware removal!

This is the blueprint
1. Drop your text plan and switch over to google voice (optional)
2. Call up att and tell them you have a device you want to activate on your account with your sim. They will ask what phone it is, lie and say razr or some **** like that ... they will add it on for you then you will lose your smartphone data.
3. The rep will ask if you wish to optionally add the dataplan for non smartphones, you can add it then for $15 unlimited data.
I burn through about 15gb a month

T-Mobile has dropped the price of its G-Slate tablet to $399.99 with 2 years contract but with 200 mail in rebate. The LG G-Slate was one of the first tablets to run Honeycomb when it came out, and looked like a true competitor to the iPad with a brilliant 8.9” display panel with native resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels, 1GHz dual-core processor, Android 3.0, full HD 1080p video recording capability, 9 hours of promised battery life and these all encased in only 620gms.

Tethering is nice and all. But if you only have a 200MB data plan for your phone, it's not really an option. Browsing a desktop version of a website is already a few MBs. I don't think the 3G version will cost that much more, max (my guess) is $100 with no contract.

Sounds good for those that want 3G. I prefer a Wifi only version. Like others I can use my phone Wifi hotspot, and I have sprint unlimited 4 g.
Also, Asus did the right move by shipping a Wifi only version first. That gave Asus a low price point which brought them in under the competition, especially the iPad. Motorola lost a lot of sales by bring out a 3G Xoom which was perceived as considerably more expensive.

The premium involved with 3G model is not worth it. Not to mention an extra data plan just for the tablet. Tether ftw! Seriously though I don't think most need internet on their tablet all the time. For stuff like email jist use your phone.
