Anyone apply a LagFix yet?

I was looking at the general Galaxy S forum and saw a nice root+lagfix by Tayutama. Anyone applied this fix yet to an Epic? Thread is here: forum. xda-developers .com/showthread.php?t=765820 (can't post links yet)

they mount /dbdata/ as a tempfs in the epic 4g

I'm pretty sure the Epic doesn't need a lagfix. It was already included by Samsung

the other phones get an insanely high quadrant score because of the way the lag fix works. they mount a different file system which scores retardedly high on the I/O portion of quadrant (the flaws of quadrant have been documented in several articles all over the place).
THE EPIC DOES NOT NEED A LAG FIX. It is the fastest galaxy s phone out of the box thus far.

Yes the RFS filesystem is standard on all samsung phone don't know why they use it its really not that great.

I'll say, been running it hard all day since 9am and no lag at all. great phone, very impressed with it. The only issue I have is with the Sammy dock I also bought with it. If you touch it, the sound shoots down to mute, which could be very detrimental if I don't notice it and it also silences the alarm. only way to adjust the audio is to pull it out... unless someone knows of another way.

Yea, that's what I figured. High quadrant scores are just for bragging rights ;-)

No lag on my wife's epic and her neocore benchmark just slaughtered my EVO: 55.7 fps to 31.6 fps.

Cuz the evo fps fix is a dirty hack. But my evo's root and development slaughtered my wifes epic. The evo was nand unlocked b4 It's release date. Plus i'll keep my hdmi out over buying a new tv with dlna support. We need development on the epic.

WoW sounds like someone is a little bitter. Besides I could never go back now, after playing with the Super Amoled, it's like comparing a 65" Mitsubishi DLP TV vs a nice 50" LED. As much as others may think size matters the quality just isn't the same and 4" is the sweet spot as far as phones go.

It would be the otherway around. Properly tuned new DLPs crush Plasma,LCD and LED. a CRT in the the same size would be the only thing I could imagine being better. Well I guess a laservue would be better also.

[Q] Tips on getting a better speed on my Vibrant??

I have a Vibrant rooted running the Team Whiskey Bionix-v1.2.1 ROM. I have a few apps that I use daily, but the only one I know does any major damage to speed is beautiful widgets. I don't use any live backgrounds. I scored a 1536 on a benchmark test from Quadrant Standard.
Do you guys know of ways to better these scores?

Use AutoKiller Memory Optimizer

Unless your phone actually feels sluggish I wouldnt worry about quadrant scores. If it is sluggish try installing Voodoo or one of the Universal Lagfix in the developers section.

With a 1500+ quadrant he's already running Voodoo...
I do agree that unless the phone is feeling slow to not worry about it. Quadrant is pretty easy to fudge over 2k even though the phone isn't any faster.

actually, if you going for score some of the older J-rom series with over clock really scored high........ But with the current setup, you typically have 11-15 or so things that are open and TSR, if you remove alot of those to make it a vanilla barebones, then o.c it...... you can improve the score........ BUT speed scores are not worth much other than bragging rights.......... Like everyone else said if your phone is performing well then,..........who cares about the scores

Go look up the Dragon 3.6 Kernel in the Dev section. You can overclock the phone a little or a lot depending how much it can handle. I'm running 1.2ghz at the moment.

It really isn't particularly lacking in any way that I can tell. But i remember thinking that same thing back when i had AOL dial up haha. I'm impressed with the phones ability now, i just want to know if this is as good as it gets

Stock 2.2.1 is the fastest/smoothest ROM I've used on this phone ever and it hasn't even been optimized. I also downloaded the Dragon Kernel v3.6 and overclocked it to 1.28Ghz and its very stable. I always use my friends iPhone 4 to compare speeds and with the current setup I have now their isn't any difference in speed.

I just ran it and got 2481. Only thing I've done is root the phone.

Why am i not surprised that nucentury, who seems to have NO interest in getting the Atrix since it doesn't have a Gyroscope which will apparently be such an improvement for gaming that Crysis might actually run on a phone if it had one, is bragging about random crap again. Or maybe he's not bragging, seeing as my Archos 70 Internet Tablet with a 250GB hard drive running Froyo already got a score of 1,778 in Quadrant running at 1Ghz. Or maybe it's the idea that benchmarks are completely meaningless for the most part.
And if you have to overclock your device and still can't reach the scores of the Atrix.... which as far as i'm aware i don't believe Quadrant has support for multi-core chips yet.... then i don't see what you're bragging about, really.

Quadrant Speeds
I have a Samsung Captivate. Just went through warranty exchange as I got one right after release and had been battling shutdown issues. After rooting and applying lag fix I now get between 2000 - 2200. I just ran it and got 2248, which is on the high end of what i usually get.
I wish I would have waited on the Atrix. Have fun with your new hardware dudes.

completely stock lowest was 2487 highest 2691

I personally think the more important question is......does the phone run smoothly?

Mine surely does so far. I've run Quadrant a few times and got just under 2800. Hell, I got 2300 while playing music in the background.

Yes, it does. With my old Captivate, when I went to add a shortcut to my homescreen, when I hit the applications button it would take like 10 seconds to load up the next screen with my apps list. And I had mine overclocked to 1.28ghz and all that jazz. This one opens it straight away. No waiting for anything to load.

What are the neocore benchmarks at? That's a pretty cool program to test the phones gaming ability. I'm not getting an atrix because I like my iPhone but I used to use android phones. Just curious about the phones performance.

Apples and oranges...
The Streak is 800x480, as are most high-end large sceen Android phones, and the Atrix is pushing 35% more pixels @ 960x540, and STILL getting higher scores...
Plus, add in what others have mentioned that Quadrant is not multi-core capable, and you start to realize how much power is under the hood of this thing!

So I was running Salvage and now I'm running cm7 nightly 18 and I'm wondering: what's up with my benchmarking being so low? Can't seem to break 41 on Linpack and my quadrant scores are sticking in the low-1000s (they were up around 1300 on a fresh install).
I've seen other people who have had this complaint, and I know benchmarks aren't that important since my phone is running really well, but I want to see some seriously awesome results and I'm wondering if it has something to do with my kernel (savaged-zen), too many widgets on my hoam screen, playing too much ninjump, etc.

Highest I broke was about 45 running a toast/net kernel on a sense rom with about 1600 on quads. I break about 41 on cm7 with savagezen. Its really hard to takes scores on the evo serious though they don't mean ish. I also had to delete linpack and quadrant from my phone cause I kept worrying/stressing about scores etc lol. Now I don't download them at all and my life has been great ever since.

Yeah I'm thinking it might start coming to that. I just don't want to be sacrificing performance thanks to having things set up wrong. I'm coming from a Hero where your paltry 4.5 mflops were a true sign that you had your phone organized correctly, and it was going to randomly restart in 8 minutes because you had JIT running.

+1 I came from the hero also with 4.5 running darchdroid/cm6 lol. It wasn't going to get any better than 4.5 ahh I remember those days man. With the evo I don't recommend taking stock in scores because its just not gonna get any better. My chicks g2 out the box stock(800mhz) is 1550 on quads and like 60 on linpack lol of course w/ help of their newer processors. Our evos are kind of maxed out I guess you could say. Jit doesn't help much its only keeping our apps warm and ready not really effecting scores much. I'd say what were getting now is about the best man. I still love my evo and hopefully it will last until my upgrade this September when newer phones are out.

Man I was planning on upgrading in May but I got bit by the Sprint Premium downgrade, and all the sudden my upgrade turned into "use it or lose it" by April 1. I'd much rather be stuck with the EVO for 2 years than the Hero for another year. That poor little phone just doesn't cut it anymore. Right now I'm trying to figure out how I can get a full upgrade next year, or perhaps just get a new phone for Christmas, which is about the time I'll be sick of the EVO.
Still, for now I'm loving this thing. It's like going from an '88 Accord to a 2010 Cadillac.

Fastest Evo Competition

Now that the Evo is rooted again lets see who can throw up the fastest benchmark numbers. Here's the rules.
1) Must have a screen shot of bench mark results
2) Include your rom and kernal

My evo is 9 inches long.

Benchmark scores are much like comparing penis sizes - if you do it on a forum, everyone is going to use someone else's photo or photoshop their own. Or just spout off some random large number, like the nine inches guy.
But, in contrast to penis sizes, benchmark scores don't matter. I personally have no clue what my scores would be, but my phone runs perfectly smooth so I'm not going to waste my time trying to make it faster just for bragging rights.
But I don't have a penis, so maybe I just don't get it.

I'm on my computer so no screenshot right now, but I consistently get 1000-1100 Quadrants with the following combination:
Synergy RLS1 non-GM
More Freedom 0.8.5 Universal
245-768 MHz, interactiveX, noop

You do know that quadrant scores can be changed by the user?

We (and I'm speaking for most females here) will tell you otherwise, but size does matter to an extent. There's a little wiggle room, but yeah it makes a difference.
Girth is just as important, if not more important than length, and freakishly large penises are personally not much fun. But don't worry, it doesn't have to be as big as you think. I haven't slept with very many guys, but I have found that most of them thought that theirs was too small. Only one's was.
But no, benchmark scores don't matter. Not at all.

LOL - Good to know size doesn't matter My Evo is hung like a hamster, but it's hell at 100 MPH. I try not to make him feel to bad by taking about his benchmarks and short comings. Fortunately for MY Evo he can fake how big he is in certain applications so it makes him feel better.

so.. whats the point of "size matters" if when I flashed Synergy+GM the score was way longer than regular synergy but way slower... makes no sense

Using cm7 savagezen kernal 245 min 1113 Max on demand. With v6 supercharger. I've gotten all the way into 1600s on past but I'm to lazy to reset phone and get it up to its Max tonight

I don't have screenshots, but I was running Synergy RLS1 + Godmode and I had a quadrant score of about 2000, but it didn't mean much considering how badly everything else performed.
I remember on stock OTA it was about 500. I'm on Synergy RLS1, and now I get about 1000.
