Hello everyone ive just purchased an HTC-HD2 phone and so far i love it
I also have a iphone and i like the look of the htc better.
I know this phone is a little different but can my htc be pimped up lol ie themes.....

For free tweaks and mods, you may check the "themes and apps" section, the very first sticky is a great start, but there are many more.
not a great way to introduce yourself to the forum.
the answer is yes it can, but not with help from anyone on here.
most of the apps aren't expensive, and lot of the themes etc are built by people here in their spare time and shared for free (although it's nice to donate every now and then)

you can mention it, although continued speak of warez is likely to get you a ban.
There are various sites on the net where you can get such apps. However, since this is a developers site and a community who likes to support the developers (remember that without developers, you wouldn't have anything for your phone at all...inclusing cracked apps) we would prefer that you didn't talk about it too much.

I can't comment on the warez thing that is unknown territory to me...
But I can reccommend you upgrade your ROM 1.66 - the official release from HTC.
It is the first thing I did when I got mine home...I cannot tell you all the things it updates but I know that I have yet to experience any of the problems people have mentioned in many of the forums that I follow.
And most of all read the hints and tips part of the HD2 forum - it has paid dividens.
And above all stay in touch with this forum - and ask questions...I have yet to not get an answer that helps...

sorry to disappoint u but we are not going to get the update to 2.1
why simple business logic the wildfire is out and HTC would be more intested in selling this phone than giving us a update i also have a Win Mobile jade and never got the officiall 6.5 upgrade but due to so some greats cooks in the jade forum i have been using Wm 6.5 for a long time
im 100% sure that we will have 2.1 or 2.2 fully working rom for us very very soon pls see the development section right now 4 great cooks are doing it and it has come out very good and they are also working on the few things not working like camera and FM so guys be a little patient im sure very very soon we will have what we want

Few Smartphone users check out the forums of other Smartphone models and, therefore, your questions / tips / other stuff will be read by a LOT more people if you post it to a general forum than in just a model-specific one.
As has already been pointed out, everything should be posted to the new General forum that isn’t ONLY related to the particular model. Some examples of what should be posted to the General forum and what should stay in a device-specific one:
* posts like “the HTC Opal has a very bad-quality Camera" should stay in the device-specific Opal subforum because it’sonly the Opal that is affected by this problem. The same stands for problems with the bootloaders of a given model or specific ROM upgrades, ROM versions, unlocking etc. only applicable to a given model (and nothing else).
* posts like Live Messenger CAB’s , OpenVPN hacks hacking etc. should go to the General forum because these hacks, information etc. can be used on (almost) ALL Smartphone models.
* if you have a question that you feel can be answered by other Smartphone users, do NOT post it to a device-specific forum, but to the generic one. Also, make sure you continuously monitor the forum because I’ll post a lot of brand new Smartphone-related information in there.

It hurts to see that there is No-Activity going on in this forum...The forum was active at one time!
But now,i guess all of the shine is gone....The wait for Jagan's evo series,Pajerms fabulous ROM's,some or the other development and innumerable Q & A's...What fun it was...Some crazy tantrums,Mod-Edits,Personal Messages,Application requests,frequent checking in and out of the forum....It doesn't happen these days!

What are the other members doing???We don't have only Jagan and Pajerm as the heart and soul of this forum...We had a really good team of beta testers (for all ROMs)..A good Italian discussion thread(later asked to continue and translate in English)...I guess the device had a shorter life span...May be people upgraded their devices or are rather not interested to develop due to limited functionality of the device...Bad show guyz...

You really can't blame others for this, with a lot of new devices coming out, it just show that Opal is really limited with regards to its hardware capabilities. *sigh* I just learned how to flash my Opal recently, but I guess it ends here

Well,thats what i just said!!!
The Opal does have some limitations and i think all the members must have migrated out to a new device and forum!!!
I have an idea, look at my signature, if what I wrote goes against the rules of the forum then tell me and I remove everything at once.

Yes, the Opal might be a bit older, but I have found that it is a great little phone especially when you upgrade the ROM to a WM6.5 or greater.
It doesn't have a large screen or isn't as fast as some of them out there, but if you don't have a data plan or don't do much on-line and want a good Pocket PC / Cell Phone it works just fine.
And I for one will be happy to help Pajerm get another Opal.

I made this thread to prepare for starting a new thread in the xperia x10 Forum, the thread will be called "THE Guide"
In Case you are wondering why i made a Project thread about it, that is the way i want that thread to be it can't be done by one member, So i need your help
WHY ?
i am tired of new threads people make about very old problem that were solved millions of times, every forum have one of these thread and we shall make this one the best one.
IDEA
it will include everything we can imagine,
My view is like this:
- 1st Post will be the Index, it will contain links to the different parts of the guide
- the next for example 2 pages, each post will be about a different topic, example:
--> Root Post will contain links to differnet rooting methods, FAQ, known issues, etc
--> ROM post, will contain links to ROMS - if any -, Dev in Progress, etc
i hope you get the idea..
WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO:
- this thread will be always fresh and updated, and i can't make that alone, my time won't allow me to manage more than the index post and at most one other topic
- Anyone willing to join this epic Guide, write in this thread and tell me what topic you want to handle

Sorry if this is completely irrelevant in every way shape and form, but I'm from a community of people who own Samsung Wave smart phones who would really like to own an Android port due to the horrendous support for Bada by Samsung and complete and total lack of applications.
We have a working Froyo 2.2 port on the device which many have copied to their phones with success. A few developers have worked on it, Olek_k from XDA was working on it, passed it over to Rebellos. However, we currently have no working modem, camera or battery sensor and they are having trouble with Kernel development. Rebellos says that he thinks he's collected enough info to write a modem driver, but he is having problems with the kernel and the project has stalled. We've seen the amazing progress that has been made with this project, being passed down from person to person and there is a huge community of people who would like to experience android on their Bada handsets. I am no developer myself and a lot of us aren't, but the project has stalled and it'd be a real shame for so much progress to be lost. Do you know of anyone or are you yourself a developer of HD2 Android? All of us at badaforums.net and those in the Bada section at XDA are eager to see progress on the project. We do have developers, but they need aid in an area that they do not know well.
Please don't take this as a demanding request, I'm simply asking if you know of anyone who could help compile an android kernel (I'm not sure of the detail you'd have to ask the developers themselves) with the help of the current devs. We'd be hugely greatful if you could co-operate and help us out, because I know many who would absolutely adore android on their crippled Wave smartphones.
I sent a message similar to this to the admin of the Android ROMs site (http://android.hd2roms.com/) to see if they had any ideas about someone who could help. If you didn't know already, the wave is only available outside of the US, I don't know if anyone in the US can help with the development without the phone, you'd have to ask Rebellos or one of the other devs from the topic.

You might want to consider getting the XDA admin's incharge of the news, to publish this, since this is really going to go un-noticed by the majority of developers. Some good might come out of it. All the best. I remembered waiting (and I am sure many other HD2 users too) for the Android port and then WP7 port for HD2... it seemed like a long wait, but eventually it is done

Yeah man, thanks. I was just being impatient. Really don't want to come off as an arsehole because a lot of people in the bada-android forum got pissed due to trolls, when there are, infact a lot of people who are nice and genuine who are eager to see the port.
And I will have a look to see if I can do that erlern, but do you think they will really listen to someone with like, under 10 posts? xD I mean, they might, but however funny that noob video was, they don't seem to be particularly keen on them. We'll see.

Also on the title of the post amend it to this "Help needed to build drivers into kernel" then maybe the developers of this thread may pay more attention too.
Also post this on the android development thread of HD2 since this is the Q&A section which has more to do with everyday use of the hd2.

Well someone needed to try to get people's attention
No one else seemed to bother doing it, so I thought, why not. Don't think I've posted in HD2 main yet, but might have. Struggling to remember really.
Oh yeah, no I didn't because I need more posts xD I only have 7 lol.
Unfortunately us Wave modders are probably one of the smallest communities in this entire forum, we might get noticed, but it's getting people to help that will be the highest hurdle. It's a shame really, you'd expect many more people to buy this phone when you can pick it up now at cpw for £99.
I really respect how those developers devote so much time on making better software for our phones, and in most cases they just want a thank you at the end.
