We know, hd2 wont support the wp7s, lets send email to htc. Maybe it can effective to them.

This would make sense... If it was not another winmo7 thread, but asking for them to fix all the small annoyances with the HD2.

mate, i can understand the sentiment..but it's a lost cause...all i can say is the sooner u can get over it the better. HD2 is and will continue to be one of the best phones you can have atleast for another 6-8 mnths..by then you will have a choice of getting an official HTC WM7 device for sure.
P:S alternatively i'm sure one of our very talented chefs would have cooked up a WM7 ROM for the HD2 as well

As we all get excited for each new build out there,
should'nt we just send screenshots to HTC?
Posting and spamming HTC with all the benchmarks we can get!
So that they can't deny us and make a one time effort producing a NAND rom for us!
so we can Mod it further!

There is no way, EVER, that would work. If you manage to get ANY help on android development for hd2 by htc, I will personaly come down to your place and give you all the money I have. Thats how confident I am.

I wouldn't "spam" them. That would just irritate them and give us a bad look.
I think it's unlikely they would create and official Android for HD2, because afterall, that's not going to make them a huge amount of money. If they did do it, it would be more of a kind gesture to the community.
The best we can do is to write an open letter, explain why we believe an official Android release for the HD2 would be largely beneficial for both HTC and HD2 owners (present and future). Ensure they're aware of the current interest, and perhaps do a poll of who would buy the HD2 if Android was an official option.

It will make them more money, cos there are many people out there that are skeptical about buying an HD2 cos of its retarded OS(u know which one i mean)...tell me, doesnt an Hd2 running two official OS's sound super-tempting to you?

If someone would help us, will be Google department, giving us a free HD2 Android tree, but unofficial means, giving that to Cottula Team.....we are their embassadores....MS don't want we will be that for WM7.....and HTC don't care, just want sell hardware.....and this is not good for their business.

wouldt work.. for it to work, google will need to ask their coders to come up with kernels to boot up android in hd2, not give us an os build..

like u say, i wouldt recommend spamming htc.. but maybe we can have an online petition and gather virtual signatures and submit it to HTC?
would that be a better idea?

I like that idea for a petition for Android on HD2......and make Google our aliade, they have a good relationship with HTC.

I suppose one could petition for it, to show them the interest. But it's still quite unlikely. They would have to (I think) strike some deal with Microsoft to release the WinMo exclusivity with the HD2. I think they would also have a tough time selling Android-based units, purely because of the inconsistency of having a Windows button on the keypad.
I suppose a petition could convince them to get involved in the htc-linux project, ie. help the dev's out with any problems, questions, etc.

The new HTC Desire HD is almost identical (at least spec wise) to the HD2 (exept the Cam)! Why would HTC ever do an HD2 Android ROM when they are going to make an "all new" device with Android? HTC woun't care for us! We already bought the device! They need new customers to buy new devices and not having "old" ones ugraded all the time!

dream on my friend.... cuz you don't have a clue how job is done in large corporations! they have licesnes, copyrights, huuuge amounts of paper for one phone, so they can't just say: "hey we can grab source, do android and make xda community happy! yay!"
they are about to release desireHD so if you want android buy that one!
only thing you will do by spamming to HTC is to attract a HUUUGE hord of lawyers that will shut down xda, htc-linux and whole thing our devs were working for.
They just look away now because "they can't be responsible for things you do with your phone" as lawsuits are often big amount of money and time spent.
if this kind of behavior continues it WILL get nasty! take conflipper as example, but you probably don't even know who that is! GROW UP CHILDREN, YOU AIN't PLAYIN' WITH LEGO ANYMORE

i think that if HTC showed a little gratitute to their loyal customers it would just make them look better to the community (at least this community). without XDA htc would sell much less.. I bought HTC only because XDA exists.. and I was sure to get more value from my device this way than with any other brand.
HTC is well aware of this.. they know their business believe me...
maybe they're already helping developers undercover..hehehe.. who knows...
in this forum we all know that our next device will be android-powered anyway...
I love winmo.. i always had... but android is more advanced.. works good.. and has all the google goodies we all love...

In my country, we have the similar problem, we dont know who has the rom, as far as we know is the tow videos released on the internet show us that our HD2 can really run the WP7. the individuals there are still waiting for the news, be patient, if there's any news of wp7 ON HD2 from xda.cn, i will notice you guys.

Ok good to know, but why they don't share with us? I think atm they don't share with anyone, as there is no download at xda.cn.. No one says Russian don't share with us, only because Cotulla didn't release MagLdr to public yet so I don't think it would be helpful to post such offensive threads..

I don't think there is a flashable rom. I heard that they just have one of the test hd2s Microsoft flashed to developed wp7. Someone else said that the hd2 was flashed with wp7 with a jtag flasher, so if either of those are the case, which I'm beginning to suspect, there is no rom and may not be for a while. I would think that if there was a rom, somebody would've gotten whole of it or atleast know something about it.

Please do not let the fellow who wrote the derogatory post bother anyone. Even if he was joking, his way of thought is not indicative of the quality of people on XDA-Developers. Best thing to do is just ignore ignorant posts.
With that said, it will be fun watching to see who now comes up first with a working Windows Phone 7 ROM. Now that is what I would call healthy national competition!

i must confess that i am not surf the net often, and i will not always focus in this title, but when i know any news from XDA.cn, i will come and tell the news. not for the few people who wrote derogatory post but the big family.

yah none of us users have a flashable rom, while we should be patient and wait.
and, thx to cottula&other developers who made it possible to run wp7 on hd2

by now, no flashable WP7 on HD2 rom released from xda.cn.....
i think there must be some reasons for them decide to do so.
the guys on xda.cn are also waiting for this.

For me this is like when cotulla posted a video of WP7 booting, I looked every day after it until I realized that it wouldn't come in near future.. Now we don't even know if it (chinese ROM) is for real, so calm down it's done when it's done..

VOIP Apps Allowed in the App Store!!

Well... most of you in this section are devs.. so all of you must have received the email regarding the allowance of VoIP apps in the Samsung app store.... Well now that Samsung isn't the one blocking stuff, i think it is high time we have some VoIP apps out there!!! Well its been a real long wait... i have posted in the fring phone support request forum.... But haven't received a reply to it yet.... I think we all should go there and storm them with replies to really get them working on this.... And I thought of skype also... But i dont think they really look for requests on their support forum... .

i have created a thread on ipmart.

I created a thread on samsungwaveforum.com but that forum is notorious for deleting threads that link to other forums....i created a thread once to inform people of the bada section at XDA & it was deleted by an admin. he said we should not talk about hacking, modding stuff & let samsung sort it all out themselves. he even said that i had gone a step too far by asking people to join another forum...so i don't know if this thread will survive.

Bada Android - Help needed to build drivers into kernel!

Sorry if this is completely irrelevant in every way shape and form, but I'm from a community of people who own Samsung Wave smart phones who would really like to own an Android port due to the horrendous support for Bada by Samsung and complete and total lack of applications.
We have a working Froyo 2.2 port on the device which many have copied to their phones with success. A few developers have worked on it, Olek_k from XDA was working on it, passed it over to Rebellos. However, we currently have no working modem, camera or battery sensor and they are having trouble with Kernel development. Rebellos says that he thinks he's collected enough info to write a modem driver, but he is having problems with the kernel and the project has stalled. We've seen the amazing progress that has been made with this project, being passed down from person to person and there is a huge community of people who would like to experience android on their Bada handsets. I am no developer myself and a lot of us aren't, but the project has stalled and it'd be a real shame for so much progress to be lost. Do you know of anyone or are you yourself a developer of HD2 Android? All of us at badaforums.net and those in the Bada section at XDA are eager to see progress on the project. We do have developers, but they need aid in an area that they do not know well.
Please don't take this as a demanding request, I'm simply asking if you know of anyone who could help compile an android kernel (I'm not sure of the detail you'd have to ask the developers themselves) with the help of the current devs. We'd be hugely greatful if you could co-operate and help us out, because I know many who would absolutely adore android on their crippled Wave smartphones.
I sent a message similar to this to the admin of the Android ROMs site (http://android.hd2roms.com/) to see if they had any ideas about someone who could help. If you didn't know already, the wave is only available outside of the US, I don't know if anyone in the US can help with the development without the phone, you'd have to ask Rebellos or one of the other devs from the topic.

You might want to consider getting the XDA admin's incharge of the news, to publish this, since this is really going to go un-noticed by the majority of developers. Some good might come out of it. All the best. I remembered waiting (and I am sure many other HD2 users too) for the Android port and then WP7 port for HD2... it seemed like a long wait, but eventually it is done

Yeah man, thanks. I was just being impatient. Really don't want to come off as an arsehole because a lot of people in the bada-android forum got pissed due to trolls, when there are, infact a lot of people who are nice and genuine who are eager to see the port.
And I will have a look to see if I can do that erlern, but do you think they will really listen to someone with like, under 10 posts? xD I mean, they might, but however funny that noob video was, they don't seem to be particularly keen on them. We'll see.

Also on the title of the post amend it to this "Help needed to build drivers into kernel" then maybe the developers of this thread may pay more attention too.
Also post this on the android development thread of HD2 since this is the Q&A section which has more to do with everyday use of the hd2.

No one else seemed to bother doing it, so I thought, why not. Don't think I've posted in HD2 main yet, but might have. Struggling to remember really.
Oh yeah, no I didn't because I need more posts xD I only have 7 lol.

Unfortunately us Wave modders are probably one of the smallest communities in this entire forum, we might get noticed, but it's getting people to help that will be the highest hurdle. It's a shame really, you'd expect many more people to buy this phone when you can pick it up now at cpw for £99.
I really respect how those developers devote so much time on making better software for our phones, and in most cases they just want a thank you at the end.
