omgeeee nexus s 4g heading for sprint... i'm ****ing hella stoked no more waiting for android updates from these bastard carriers...
I know its the same ****ing phone cept the nfs chip and whatnot but its worth it. Despite how well android is doing against ios only the google handsets should be compared to ios handsets or anything else. Apple doesnt let att or verizon **** with theyre ****e so only a handset with with pure google blood should be put up against anything else. All opinion though

Yep, its bye bye epic and bye bye Evo , Hello Nexus 4g.
Yeah definitely selling my Epic when it comes out.
Personally, I'd wait for a Cortex-A9 / Next-gen Snapdragon from Sprint. While the Nexus S will get the latest updates quickly, it's still "last-gen" hardware.
CM7 is getting ported right now, and once they get CM support, we're likely to see other CM ports happen pretty quickly, particularly since having a CDMA + WiMAX Nexus S will make for easy ports.
I'll stick with my hardware keyboard, and when Sprint drops a dual-core beast, I'll pick that up. Either that or wait until the next Nexus phone... I'm patient.
That's the wonderful thing about having unlimited updates, I don't have to wait
How? Can I?

Same... I don't use the keyboard anyway. I'd prefer a smaller profile and a stock android experience
I guess nobody notices that it is still going to have touchwiz,
which means there still may be delays in getting updates ala epic 4g.

I am putting my Epic on Ebay the day it comes out.
^lmao wooooow that would be a brain ****. I know the issue about curent gen versus next gen but think about this....
My epic performs pretty close to tegra2... not to say its the same for gaming but in single core apples it holds it own extremely well. even the gpu comes close. I personally love having dungeon defenders, a couple of gameloft titles and an army of emulators but lets face it... they all work extremely well as they are now. Even with all that i barely touch those games. i have a psp and prefer to play emus on there. Like having a xperia play in some ways... either i game on that or game on my 360 or ps3.. so then comes the question specific to my usage... do I REALLY need dual core versus wanting it. I want it.. but I definitely dont need it. i can see the tablets needing dual core in some ways but other than gaming what other apps could POSSIBLY need that much cpu power? I think dual core is unneeded for atleast another year or 2. Anyone remember what dualcore cpus and quadcore cpus were available for pcs? Those quad cores are just NOW being taken advantage of. I dont see any android apps really needing 2 cpu cores to function properly for the next 2 years. Nexus s here I come lol.
Also dont forget the fact that these gpus are barely being tapped into now.. look at the xperia play. Its rocking adreno 205 and some of the games ive seen look better than anything out in the android marker OR gameloft right now. Not atleast until epic games finally decides to release epic ****ing citadel for android will I see the true potential. **** the iphone 4 is rocking the same gpu in the evo and can still pump out epic citadel at 30 to 40 frames a sec. Now imagine whats possible with the powervx540 currently in these phones that can achieve over 90/mil triangles versus the i4 and evos 15 to 20. that says a whole ****load for me.
The Epic + Gingerbread + Pure Google Software - Physical Keyboard = my dream phone.
^+1
I prefer the epoc over the nexus s. Lets face it that devices booty is fugly. Nexus s back has samsung written all over it. If the epic 4g was pure google id laugh at the nexus s. Epic still the best sgs handset imho

It's not going to be a pure Google phone...
Yea, its gonna have Touchwiz.
So switching to the same phone cept without keyboard and add 2.3? Thats weird and it wont get updated as fast as the normal one. Since its cdma and wimax lol
Not directed to evo or other phones

LMAO .....So google is going to ruin their "Nexus" name that sucks
Where does it say it'll have TouchWiz? Doesn't it say the D-600 device has it, not the D-720 which is believed to be the Nexus?
Also there isa coming soon page for the Nexus!
Sent From My Command Center... (aka basement)
Incorrect. The D600 device will have TouchWiz, the Nexus S 4G is D720.
Considering the flak (well deserved) that Sprint has received over their delayed updates, it makes sense that they are releasing a Nexus device, because Google will handle all of its software and updates.

I'm going to be changing providers soon to Sprint. I've been on T-Mobile for the longest time. Had a Nexus One but sold it due to financial woes.
Anyhoo... I'm looking at the Samsung Epic 4G and it seems to be the nicest phone I've seen yet on Sprint. I don't like the EVO, at all, and the EVO with a keyboard is too small for me.
Thoughts on Samsung? Thoughts on this phone overall? I have played with them a bit (a couple of co-workers have them) and, though I'm disappointed that they don't have the 2.2 Update yet... I'll live. I haven't had a smart phone at all for several months now.
I'll be getting it at the end of next week, if the Epic is what I decide on.
If you want a high end one, and you don't want the evo, get the epic. Otherwise, for sprint ID android, get the Optimus S.
Sent from The Chaotic Void.
Well, I have both the Evo and Epic, but I would sell my Evo before I sold my Epic. Just because when the source code drops for the Epic, CM6 +CM7 + overclocked- undervolted kernels etc... will make this phone shine like it should have been 5 months ago.
epic or evo
Id wait as long as possible because sprint will be dropping some new phones somtime this quarter. I know one of them being windows phone7. The Evo is outdated to me, the epic isn't well supported but still the best phone imo. Evo shift close 2nd.

Agreed. Dual core phones are just around the corner and Nvidia is releasing its Tegra 3 Quad core chip this fall. Buying a single core phone right now is not in your best interest.

The device, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S2 and internally codenamed "Seine," is said to have a 1GHz dual core processor, a 4.3 or 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, an 8 MP camera, NFC chip, and will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

I see no difference. All manufacturers do it. Sounds like a double standard. No device has 2.3. I can name a few devices that have 2.1 or lower with a promise to update, and they all are coming out with newer devices.

The difference is that when this phone launched it was launched under the guise that it would receive Froyo in a timely manner. Now 5 months later they haven't updated it yet. The more phones they release, the less incentive they have to update older devices. They gain nothing financially from updating devices to newer versions of Android. A small percentage of people, at most in the high single digits, actually care/know what version of Android the phone is running. Even if they wrote off this group of people and these people never bought Samsung again, they gain business by constantly introducing new shiny phones for the remaining 90+% to buy.
That is why I am concerned with them releasing new awesome phones while ours remain on Android 2.1.
Regardless how long they took they still kept their end of the bargain. Look st the mytouch slide. They are speculating someone after march for their 2.2 upgrade. So HTC should get the same flack. Yet I don't see it. Motorola did the same thing with the droid X. they brought out 2 devices with 2.2 while droid X users waited. See what I am talking about? People tend to promote another manufacturer without actually looking at times. They all do the same thing and sometimes it falls under the radar.
The best android phone for sprint is not the one I have (epic), but the one that has the best specs today. Don't believe anything sprint says about future software updates unless they put in writing with a specific release date. Sprint are the biggest gd liars when it comes to selling phones.

The epic is a much better phone but as you can tell with all the froyo post samsung and sprint cant seem to provide us with an actual update. That had never been a problem with any htc I have ever owned.
that's the only reason I say evo.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
If you can live without an official Froyo for an indeterminate period of time, or are willing to try custom ROMs, then go for it. The Epic is a great piece of hardware, I really like mine. Then again, there'll be some new hardware coming to Sprint in the near future I'm sure.. might be better to wait another month or two if you can stand it.
updates are nice...but if Google is really trying to push this gaming stuff, then thats when the Evo gets killed. They added a lot of things in Gingerbread for gaming but none of that is going to help the Evo out. The Evo with Gingerbread still can't play Dungeon Defenders while the Epic on 2.1 can...so really, Gingerbread is just an update that gives the Evo the Epic experience (because Gingerbread really does feel like 2.2.1 on the Epic).
And there are so many other things wrong with the Evo as well....main thing is 4G and battery life. The Evo doesnt even report the right battery percentages. You can be on 100% then go into recovery, come out of recovery and be at 96%...go back into recovery and come out of it and be at 98% -.-. The battery is also a slippery slope. Once the phone heats up, there's absolutely no way of cooling it down unless you stop EVERYTHING you're doing. And everything heats it up, and it only takes 20 mins of usage to go from 80 to +95 degrees. They do have the dev community and kernels, but the kernels only help with the sleeping (barely). They dont really help with actual usage because of the slippery slope.
Also the Epic is a true 4G phone. It treats 4G more like 3G than WiFi. With the Evo, once you connect to 4G, it runs nonstop, which is why people thought 4G was a guzzler and thats why I was afraid to use it on my Epic. but the Epic actually times it out when not in use and starts it back up once in use, saves a ton of battery.
So Hardware: Epic wins
Software: Evo wins
Overall: Epic
Now the Evo wins software because of the updates and dev community, but let me put it like this....I had the Evo since August and since August Ive tried literally all roms and kernels...damn near every different combination...I followed every tip provided that promised better performance and battery life...and at the end of the day my phone was basically the same as it was out of the box. I was happy because I've never seen any better and thought that the Evo was the best out there. After one day of using the Epic, I can't go back. I just flashed DK28 and that experience alone is way better than anything the Evo has had to offer. Performance = top notch. Battery life = top notch. Its just perfect. This phone is simply perfect and I honestly don't think that HTC should be allowed to make anymore Android phones.
Which is a better phone all around? I was thinking about getting a Nexus.

just phone wise definitely nexus S.
however it doesnt have a sd card slot and the screen is abit smaller.
also consider the carrier and if you would prefer that over sprint.
I would wait till they announce the Nexus S on Sprint and make sure the specs are the same. I would assume they are with the exception of adding a CDMA radio with wimax.
Definitely Nexus S.
Evo is nearly 2 generations old. (and RAPIDLY showing its' age)

I just got mine a couple months ago and I don't real think its showing it age. I have had all the Verizon big ones like the X and the Inc and I know that they are also not the newest phones but there is always something that will be a bit better and faster. The biggest thing that I like is that Sprint is truly unlimited. Im almost up to 9 gigs with 4 days left in my cycle. I need unlimited because I had to get rid of my home internet due to lack of work in my business right now. The Nexus S is a nice phone but really..no sd card?...and I had the Fascinate with verizon and I had to depend on devs for gps fixes and usable roms but I know the S is a google phone so it shouldn't indure the lack of Samsung updates. Its all of what you like and which service does well for you in your area also.
Oh lord not another one of these threads :rolls eyes: lol
If nexus s doesn't have an sdcard slot(hopefully it does) how is it even a competitor with other smart phones out there. I'd pick my evo all day because of the huge ass screen and its an HTC. Evo 3D sounds like a winner(based on rumors).

+1 Screen and HTC
16GB of internal storage is a lot. If you need more that's fine, but 16 GB should satisfy a ton of people.
Edit: Things better on the Nexus S.
GPU: PowerVR SGX 540 can compete with the Tegra 2, EVO's Adreno 200 barely beats the original 2009 Droid's PowerVR 530.
Cameras: Samsung makes good mobile cameras, HTC includes terrible ones.
Display: SAMOLED > Lousy TFT
Internal Storage: EVO has a microSD slot but has very limited internal storage. Nexus S is capped at 16GB but has way more internal storage for Apps and 16GB is not bad at all.
NFC: I'm sure this will come in handy, will it this year? Maybe not but it's good to have one.
Gyroscope: Better gaming, especially FPS'.
Software: This is tough but you can knock a Google supported phone. Come Ice Cream time, you'll be watching Nexus S users playing with a fully working, HW accelerated OS.
It's just a really tough decision for me bc I'm thinking about getting the Nexus and giving the Evo to my girl. Don't get me wrong I love my Evo, I'm just ready for something new!

Like i said..there will always be a better phone than what you have but sometimes the network and carrier matter also..If I go 10 miles away from my house with T-Mobile I go to Edge....not on Sprint. In the end it really doesnt matter to me what people decide on..I have to use whats best for me and so does everyone else. If price matters though I'm sure you have seen if your a Bestbuy rewards zone member you can get the S for $99 on a 2 year agreement with the coupon...not a bad deal.

I read through some of the guides and its a lot of stuff that im not too sure I know how to do. It also says that you have to re do clockwork every time you want to flash a ROM...
If the Nexus S hits Sprint, you better believe I'll be selling my EVO to buy one.
1. The earlier you sell your EVO, the more you can get for it.
2. Nexus S will sell for a lot more than the EVO by the time HTC has a dual-core badboy on the market.
You see what I did there?
I'd say Evo, but that's because I've had nothing less than perfectness from my own Evo. However, the Evo 3D was announced/leaked, so I'd wait on that, because truthfully that sounds loads better than the OG Evo. But, anyways, the Nexus S is also (I'd imagine) going to be one of the phones at the top of the list for updates since, as the adds say, it is "pure Google." and they love to roll out updates, whereas the Evo is moving down the ranks with all the new phones announced at MWC and the like. Also the Evo is a beast of a phone, much larger than the Nexus S. It's really hard to define a clear cut answer, just do research and pick the phone that provides what YOU want from it.

Really? Its a Nexus phone... While I personally dont love the Samsung construction of mine, there is something to be said of Nexus.
Part of that is the hack-ability, fastboot oem unlock. Same as N1. Literally two adb commands to root a NexusS, and recovery works just fine. Although I gotta say I miss AmonRa when using my Nexus, I just cant get used to Clockwork...
Both phones rock. NS is far beyond Evo internal wise, but I like the feel and look of my Evo far more. Only knock I have against the Evo (since buying a seidio3500, and having it last 48hours+) is the QSD8650 and Adreno200. Been available since the Eee pc in 2009....Not exactly new tech, and holy poop does my NS do 3d games like a different class of phones compared to my Evo. But then I go to HDMI the ***** to the TV for some N64oid+wiimote and....o yeah...
Edit: Forgot to mention, I think I'm gonna craigslist my NS for something dual core, if that says anything.
^^^^ see that's what I don't understand is the adb commands. How do I open the command prompts?

I've seen a lot of talk about new phones but is there a successor to the Samsung Epic?
I talked my wife into buying the Epic as well and we love them but we always keep our eyes on that 2 year mark (which is coming up this Summer)... wondering if we are going to stay in place with the Epics or save for something else.
We are particularly fond of the physical keyboard... don't want to jump to a phone without one.
Love reading all the great threads on here... keep up the great info.
s
The EVO 3D seems to have caught the Epic community's eye. The Epic can do nearly everything that the new EVO can, except the Evo has a better CPU (dual core), TV out (hdmi), and it's 3D option.
No top tier phones with keyboards have been announced yet by Sprint. Samsung has created the "Galaxy S II" which could be used to produce an Epic 2 but that is between Samsung & Sprint to decide.
I believe Sprint is releasing a windows phone 7 HTC device with keyboard, but I'm not interested in wp7.
How are you hitting the 2-year mark when the Epic was released last summer?

Wait...this is Samsung, God forbid they put out an up to date phone.
I know it hasn't been released yet. But I/O is here in what 4 days?
I theorize 3.1 because it will be a merge of the Tablet and Phone branches of Android, and I doubt they would down grade the version number of the tablets. so the number would have to be >=3.1
Yeah the 4.3" screen may be a problem for those looking for an Epic 2. I think it would be absolutely huge. I personally am going for a non-kb device next. After all, the KB on the epic was pretty useless with all the skipped characters which forced me to become comfortable with swype.
I'd be all over the Evo 3D if it had an amoled display. Any phone w/o amoled will need to have very strong contrast levels with very low black's otherwise it will annoy the heck out of my to pay for a phone upgrade with a lesser quality screen.
I figure I'll be on the Epic until November 2012 since they removed the 1 year upgrade from my plan. At that point I may just keep it and flash over to Boost mobile for the uber cheap monthly rates.
I bought my Epic outright... used... I jumped into Sprint service with a blackberry curve... bought an EVO and Epic cash/used... but in excellent shape.

The Evo 3D sounds cool, and the 3D option is interesting. If anyone has see the Ninteno 3DS, I assume it is similar to the technology the evo will have. The 3DS is cool but if that's what the evo screen looks like in 3D, HTC has some work to do.
Sent from my Premium Epic, bliatch.
Ok, so I have a dilemma. At first, when sprint announced the EVO 3D, to me, there was no question I would get it. After HTC announced a locked bootloader (? clarification on what exactly is locked), I am asking this question. What is better, a stock (worst case scenario) Evo 3D, or a modified Nexus S? I know modifications make a HUGE difference (just ask my HTC Hero ) as far as performance goes, so the simple question is, what would perform better? Gaming is a huge factor for me too-- which is the better gaming device (I actually heard the nexus s has a better video card so I might have my question answered already)?
And obviously, the 3D is garbage to me, so don't take that into consideration. The only thing I hate about the Nexus S that has a draw on the EVO 3D is the 1080p vs SD on the Nexus (which is crazy). If there was even a 720p video capability on the nexus (hopefully by a hack) then I would be content with that.
TIA and sorry if this is a really dumb question!
although the nexus s isnt 720p, the vid/pics are actually quite good. and in all honesty, the "720p" on the evo's 8mp was straight garbage. basically the only real advantage the evo has is the dual core.
also, if u do plan on the ns4g, check out wirefly. they have a special right now, $99 on new contract, $149 on upgrade. no activation/shipping/taxes!
My upgrade isn't until July 1st so i'll have some time before I get my upgrade. As far as the processor goes, which is the real major difference, how much better "real world" performance will the evo3D get over the Nexus S (not meaning benchmarks)?
honestly who says it will? qualcomm "showboated" a 1.5ghz dual core cpu with the new adreno 220 in the gl benchmark, it got only 11 fps better then the stock nexus s. why do i say only? a brand new gpu, a dual core 1.5ghz vs a 1ghz cpu and what many consider outdated hardware, and it only got 11 fps. the evo3d is supposed ot have a 1.2ghz version of this chipset, so even lower performance (stock mind you.. if they hack it it will increase obviously). want more proof that the nexus s is still rockin? go to glbenchmark.com and look at the top devices, the ipad 2 (sgx543) is the top of the list, meanwhile the nexus s is number 5 (SGX540) as the top PHONE (all other devices are tablets).
i dont even consider the evo3d an upgrade for the price they are gunna want for it, meanwhile if you want raw power, best just wait for the samsung galaxy s 2. its been kickin in a lot of doors and take'in a whole lot more names
I'd say Nexus phones only forever, but I'm biased and hate all forms of manufacturer interfaces.
Sense, Touchwiz, Motorblur etc is the cancer killing Android. Lots of people disagree with me though.

Even after the 3d evo comes out I think the super amoled screen and official Google support will continue to make the nexus s a compelling device.

Also, upgrading from an HTC hero with their sense UI I have to admit that I would choose pure 2.3 all day long.

I used the Evo since August so for probably about 8 months or so and I just switched to the ns4g with no hesitation and love it. On the Evo I used ADW launcher so I did not even have sense running so for me I got a better faster lighter phone. It was a no-brainer in my opinion and I like the "pure Google experience". I also have two friends that went from the Evo to ns4g and they feel the same. I say take the ns.

Well I actually have a GB rom on my hero (thats why it's running so much smoother) and I love the vanilla GB look. I can't stand sense, so from a UI standpoint, I already prefer NS>>>E3D

Wouldnt that be the beauty in Android and what makes it what it is? The customization and the limitless options available. The way it can be tailor fitted for the end user? Ultimately isnt that one of the things we love so much about it?
Well...thats why I like it anyway...
You're in limbo......that sucks. What is that, four levels down or five?
Well put it like.this.how.much.do you enjoy wiping and flashing your phone.
Evo 3d looks great but honastly I work and cant apend my time flippong around on it......besides we got tablets nlwadays

Well, if I feel like I'm upgrading every time I flash (which on my hero, seemingly every flash has been a speed boost), then I'm not opposed to it at all.
On a side note, my brother has his upgrade right now, and he is in town this weekend and I am supposed to help him pick out a phone. I'm gonna try to convince him that the Nexus S is worth the $150 over the LG optimus S, which he thinks he wants cause it's free (waste of an upgrade imo [he's upgrading from a palm that is like 2 years old, so actually, anything is about an upgrade]).
My question to you guys, that will hopefully solve mine and his problem. How is the Nexus S as a two year phone? How well do you think it will hold up down the road? I'm not the kind of guy who can afford to buy a new phone out of contract (paying full price), being a college student, but come upgrade time, I am willing to dish out $200+ (but not much more) on a phone that I will be happy with for 2 years. I know that may seem like a lot to ask for with technology, and it's probably a lot to ask for you guys to predict the future too lol. So, do you think the Nexus S will be dead 2 years from now (when my upgrade following then next upgrade is)? Considering the phone will have been out for 2 and a half years plus, I am wondering this question...
I just found out that the evo 3d screen can display 16m colors much like the nexus, I'm going to give the nexus a few more weeks to see if I want to return it. Otherwise I'll keep it. But the evo is rumored to be $199 same as the nexus so this will be a hard decision.

the nexus 1 is still getting official updates, and even then after that. look how long your hero lasted due to the community, you really think that NO ONE will be making anything for it? at the very least it will have cm support for a while.

Are you thinking about returning it because of the EVO, or is there something about the Nexus S that you don't like? Just curious to hear your opinion.
I am never going back to a non Google phone. The joy of not immediately rooting to remove a ton of crap is a beautiful thing. Add to that the priority updates. I'm sold. It may be a Samsung phone hardware wise but without the terrible and slow Samsung software support.

I would bank on the nexus s to be the way to go. I think carriers and handset makers make new phones outdated themselves (software wise) so they can keep pushing out new phones with the newer software to make more money. Eventually the phone in question will receive an update if they choose to do so maybe 2 months, 6 months, or even a year later. This is why I usually keep getting new phones, just to keep up on the latest software without having to flash all the time dealing with instability and bugs. The nexus line will always get these updates straight from Google with no BS. The nexus specs aren't bad and its fast enough for me. Dual core would be nice but you have to ask your self is it really even needed. The nexus will be up to date for a while I assume with no strings attatched.

Well what made me go Nexus was two phones. The Samsung Moment and Samsung Epic.
The Moment got crap for support and not even sure to this day if a dev ever fixed the evdo lock ups and terrible GPS.
Then the epic with its crappy eclair gps. Then the delayed and delayed and delayed and delayed Froyo update. Which still had crap gps. That was later fixed. Sorta. The best was when they sent a rep to xda to calm down the pissed off users about the delayed Froyo upgrade we were promised in Nov. What made me jump was this phone already had Gingerbread and Netflix support and know Google wastes no time getting updates out. I love Samsungs hardware but their software division sucks. No more of that jazz.

no carrier crap = win
I thought i downgraded by giving up my Epic ,but this phone is fast no doubt.
And I came to the conclusion that the Evo 4g is the best phone ever invented. It does everything. I have been rooted and currently left sense due to battery life. Deck 1.2.1 and sz 2.2.1 cfs SBC is the best I have ever run. The Evo offers full HDMI, 4g, great wifi, amazing battery life, I just found out I can connect a wii remote and play my nesoid and mirror any game and play 2 players w my daughter on the big screen. From a capability standpoint I have given up. There is no other phone on the market that offers me these features. Sure. Dual core. I could care less. My old Evo still rocking 1700s quadrant (for those that care) and linpacks 40+. I don't have it maxed out all the time. Lol it just works.
I Only started this thread to tell the community thank you for making/helping my Evo stomp ass on every smart phone that has challenged it! You the community have never asked me for a donation. Never begged for money. And always help when I need information.
The Evo is tits+! Thanks!

And this, I believe, is why HTC doesn't want to unlock the bootloader. Look at how many people just on this forum have started looking at other phones after they got stuck being unrooted. HTC doesn't want you to love your EVO forever; just until the newer model comes out. The developer community for the Supersonic has been amazing, and breathed a whole new life into the phone long after people were supposed to be getting tired of it.

That's a good point. A friend of mine just got the 3D. He came from a Windows mobile phone. He has been going on and on about it but the stuff that he likes are things that I have had on my rooted EVO for a while. I think his excitement is Android based and not based on that particular phone. I have compared mine and just can find enough reason to switch before I see what the development looks like. My rooted EVO is only a small step behind the stock 3D, IMO.

No real replacement for Evo until next year. It's hard to perfect perfection.

upgrading to a newer android phone from the evo is just like upgrading from an iphone 3g to a 3gs, only slight differences.

doesn't mean anything. just that sprint doesn't want it on its shelves anymore in order to sell their new devices.
I'm assuming HTC wants people to upgrade to either the 3D or the Kingdom when it releases as the Hero 4G under Sprint.
Rumor has it that the Kingdom will be a tad cheaper than the 3D. It's basically an Evo with a bigger screen and a worse camera but better hardware specs. It seems like it will be Sprint's new flagship model for some time and will probably be used to tempt all the people that are still happy with their Evo 4Gs out of hiding.
If the Evo 4+ makes it to sprint, that will be the one I am interested in...but only if I can have what I have now. I could only consider it a downgrade to go to a phone that can not do what my current phone does...really not interested if its faster...if it can't do all I have now damn the Evo is nice. I really can't think of another phone that after rooting can do. ALL the things I'm allowed to do due to the amazing development teams
I love my evo 4g
will only upgrade to a phone that's actually superior like 2.0ghz quadcore processer with 16 gig internal, 8 ram with like 1080 resolution screen 8 megapixel camera. 3 megapixel front camera and better gaming than nvidas kal-el chip
But as there aren't going to be any like that for a while I'll stick with what I've got

Love my evo.
Although it's a little ridiculous to say nothing matches it. Lots of phones do now.... My g2x does everything my evo does, except instead of snesoid on the big screen via hdmi and a wii mote, I'm rocking n64oid at a solid 60fps. Evo can do it all, but adreno-200 is just not capable enough for my wants anymore.

I agree. This whole HTC locking boot loaders is so people will go out and buy their next best device. Crap I tell ya.... Worst part is, when you do buy Another device, they'll just lock it later down the road... IDK.. that sounds kinda crazy eh? LOL
Anyways the EVO is an awesome device and glad I got it.

I don't go for the conspiracy theory that THEY DO NOT WANT YOU TO LIKE YOUR PHONE. This is nonsense. The more you like it the more HTC phones you will buy, and the more you will recommend it to friends. The locking seems to be due to carrier pressure, because the carrier pays for the tech support calls when people screw them up when rooting, overclocking, etc. You call HTC with a screwed up phone and they will tell you to call Sprint ;-)
Just yesterday, the Evo3D root came out, and the instructions led many hundreds of people to have to call tech support to get the phone connected to the network again! This is no joke, I was one of those who called. One of the rooters asked the Sprint rep, and he said he had personally gotten close to 70 calls just yesterday with the same "Error 16" issue due to the new root procedure!
Beyond, that, I agree, EVO 4G rules. I got a 3D, and I do not like it as much as the OG.

I have never owned a g2x. I merely made this post because I feel it is the best well rounded phone for all my needs. HDMI mirroring really makes this shine. The wiimote app only gets used occasionally but still very sweet and it works just like I have a damn old school nes haha. It just fits me and HTC locking bootloaders lol. They will eventually get unlocked. Not a big deal. Then we will all forget about the 3 weeks spent with a horribly locked 3d/sensation lmao.
