This only occurs when something is plugged int the audio jack, whether a cable, headset, speakers, etc.
When I pause any playing audio/video or when an incoming call pauses it, there is a loud and continuous static noise that won't stop until the media is un-paused or stopped.
I've already got AT&T sending a replacement, but thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone else has experienced this problem.
Does anyone else have this issue?

I get a hissing noise whether on headphones or on the hero's speaker when playing any audio. It starts just before the audio/music starts and continues for about 4/5 seconds after the audio/music is stopped.
I was using froydvillian 1.7.2 and now cronos 0.0.9, I think the hissing noise was worse on froydvillain.
Is this related to the rom? or does the hero just have a really ****ty dac?
If you want to try and replicate this, put on headphones, play some music and press pause and you should be able to hear the 4/5 second hiss
Does anyone else have the same problem?
I get this - not sure if it's the phone on the way out :,)
I have this problem not just with android, but wp7 also. Whenever i plug my headphone in the music player would randomly start, stutter, and skip songs. The only way to stop this is to pull my headphone out. This happens with every android build i have flashed for the past year. How can i fix this?
I have one set of in-ear phones that cause skipping (and false calls on winmo) during playback, and I can't explain it. My best guess is that the 3.5mm jack is leaking signal into the connector for the stock headphone controls, sending false signals that the phone thinks are commands from the remote.
Try some other earphones,if it doesn't happen then it's something along those lines.
I also get this with my sennheiser cx270's, sometimes its fine, other times it goes berserk.
Same, no other earphones seem to fix this, so I'm thinking it's the jack. It happens every once in a while.

Has anyone else noticed static / popping in headphones after listening to music for a while? I generally listen to music for a good chunk of the day. Today I've noticed that after about an hour, I get this interference. It's the same sound as when you have a loose connection.
To fix, I can pause the music, unplug, replug my headphones and that clears it up (which makes me think it's static build up), but it's really getting on my nerves.
I don't have this issue using these headphones on anyother device.
thx

I am having issues with intermittent audio crackling when playing music through the stock music player and Google Music when the screen is on. The issue occurs when playing audio through both the speaker and headphones. The issue happens more frequently when navigating around the phone's interface. Turning the screen off seems to solve the issue.
The issue does not occur with WinAmp.
I know the international version has audio crackling issues with the screen turned off, but this is the opposite behavior. Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue, or have any thoughts about how to fix it?
I hear static when an audio line-out is plugged into the headphone jack with the music NOT playing. With the music playing, the static goes away. I am using PowerAmp. I've never tried the stock player and PowerAmp doesn't crackle when playing.
FWIW - you'll often hear faint static when your usb is charging from a noisy computer instead of the A/C wallwart.

The charger I'm using has no problems with GS 2 nor the Galaxy Note.

I tried PowerAmp and there is no crackle. I am concerned that the crackle is a sign of an underlying hardware issue on my phone if no one else is experiencing similar issues.

For me the issue occurs whether or not the phone is charging.
There is notable static/hissing when listening using USB C headphones (same issue doesn't occur with speakers or bluetooth headphones).
Does anyone else get this issue?
The worst part is, its not constant.
When I am on a youtube video or a call, when the other person stops talking the hissing lasts for 1-2 seconds after they stop talking.
Then when they start talking it comes back.
Its like a constant on again off again kinda thing.
THank you.
