Ok guys, don't flame me here please! =]
I'm in love with the new iPad 2 thats going to come out.
Yes not MUCH has changed from iPAD 1st gen, but I guess im turning to the dark side. Overall while i love the portability of the Tab, I want a bigger screen like the iPAD and honeycomb isn't cutting it for me.
So in order to gather some funds for that, I'm going to be selling my Galaxy Tab [SPRINT].
Funny thing is, if you buy it.. the Tab will be UNUSED! I'm getting a replacement BRAND NEW UNIT from Samsung shipped to me this exact moment.
I'll even throw in a Zenus Color Edge BLACK & Orange Folio Case with Stand Worth $70.00, perfect condition.
http://www.zenuscase.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29813
So I'll give the Tab (In box), Charger, Wall Plug, Booklets, and Case to anyone shipped for 490 due to the expensive 100% leather case. or best offer.. i'm willing to negotiate a little.
Perfectly stock, with the 16GB Micro SD Card that comes with it.
Also if you perfer me to Root the BRAND NEW TAB Replacement i'm getting from Samsung, I'll gladly do that for you. or W/e apps you might want on it. Also if you want to just use it as WiFi only, I can disable the Activation Notification for you as well. If you want Ad-Hoc connections enabled i can do that for you as well.
But if you perfer just a new tab in the original tab's box with accessories and case.. then sure I wont touch it. =]

oh well, I would suggest to think twice before buying an Ipad.
I got the first generation(I receveid it as a gift...i would never bought it myself and a galaxy tab...bought,lol)...
here what the ipad CAN'T do:
no multitasking
no microsd support
no bluetooth profiles (only audio) (gt has BT3.0 support means it can use wifi trasparently to exchange big files while using bt)
no usb storage function
no front camera (ipad 1) issue resolved with ipad2
no umts videocall
no gsm call (lol)
no sms/mms
no hd 1080 video support and not any if you don't convert the videos
no hdmi video out
no data echange with a pc if not using itunes with its limitations
inferior display quality
inferior battery life (after custom kernel OC/UV on galaxy tab no comparison at all)
no opensource
no possibility of apps installation if not using appstore (money involved ever)
no video recording
very inferior rear camera (it's like not having one...it was introduced in 2nd step)
no flash for camera
no FLASH browsing support!! even if now there is frash for ipad(needs jailbreak) it doesn't play 10.1 flash streaming videos just as megavideo for example.
castrated hummingbird cpu with 256mb of ram means less speed overall
slower wifi
no hsupa support
this is some of the stuff you can't do but there is a lot else the galaxy can do and ipad can't...this is what came instantly to my mind !
if you like all this stuff YOU CAN'T do and don't need it go for ipad2
galaxy tab 10.1 will kill ipad2 in every aspect just like the actual kill the ipad1 and even more!

I hear you bro. I just sold my galaxy tab and picked up a Xoom and it is an utter pile of ****. Will be returning it less 24 hours from purchase. Though I hate apple with every inch of my being it makes me consider the new ipad. Honeycomb is neat but I can't believe they released it the way it is, nothing works and everything force closes. I have not been able to launch half the FACTORY widgets even once, they all just FC. Garbage POS.

This is exactly right. Honeycomb is NOT finished. Motorola rushed the Xoom out the door with an unfinished version of Honeycomb, and others had to follow suit or be left out of the market. This is exactly why AOSP doesn't have Honeycomb yet, because it is not finished.
Just be patient guys. Once AOSP gets the proper FINISHED Honeycomb, ports will be done for our device, and we will have a much much better experience with Honeycomb than anyone buying a current Factory Honeycomb Tab.
It actually pained me to watch the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Barcelona Launch Event vid. Terrible performance, video glitches (the red box glitch in particular, I mean you see it in SDK ports and such but that is understandable, but in a supposedly finished device? that is just terrible...), many bad things. I can see Honeycomb, among the general public, getting a bad name from this

Why did you got the replacement unit? was the first one was not working?

well it had a very faint yellow coloring on the original, if you search my other post you'll see it.
I think it was glue not setting issue, so they sent me a New one.=]

[Q] Xoom or Samsung 10.1

I bought the Xoom Sunday without contract, and I am debating on returning it and wait for the Samsung's 10.1 tab. I really like my xoom, I haven't had any big issues with my xoom but I don't like how there is like nothing for honeycomb yet. I read about people having problems with hd videos because of the processor. The Samsung is suppose to have a better screen and a better rear camera.
I would like other peoples opinions on "should I return my xoom?"
Outside of the screen and camera those are really the only two differences. Aesthetics also i guess.
Samsung has shown they turn their back on recent devices, for me I love the xoom
After hearing from multiple sources that the GTab 10.1 feels like a cheap plastic iPad I don't even care about it anymore. I also heard the "aluminum" rim around it was painted plastic. Of course, this is all personal preference... but I don't like the negativity surrounding this thing's build quality.
If the screen is that much better, then maybe I will reconsider.
some major problem with the samsung is NO USB, NO HDMI, NO MicroSD card
These are huge issues.
The xoom hardware is capable of supporting usb host with the right adapter and software.
Samsung is going all proprietary
Finally, the xoom's screen isnt BAD its just not as bright/has as much contrast as the ipad - but you get a higher resolution as a trade-off. (and again the screen isnt THAT much different)

I guess that just changed my mind. I had no idea that it was missing all that stuff.
Thanks.
Thought the Xoom had better viewing angles than the Galaxy 10.1? Xoom also isnt plastic, another plus for it. Does the Galaxy 10.1 come with an unlockable bootloader?
Ugh... What Honeycomb tablet will be crowned king? =/
I think for the next few months the Xoom just wins~
for me it's definitely xoom, though admittedly I would want a lighter tablet.
What about the LG tablet?
That one is a real contender too.
It is smaller and lighter.

Afraid they're going to charge a premium for the 3D ability of it (3D screen and extra camera means more $$). I think the 8.9" formfactor might be nice but I don't see it being any more stelar than GT10.1 or Xoom, and it might cost just as much or more.
Samsung stated that after the iPad 2 came out with its specs and price, they needed to "re-evaluate" their pricing and components on the Galaxy Tab 10.1. This means we might see a cheap version of it, which makes it more appealing to me. Some of the shortcomings I can live with (no HDMI is fine with me), but some things like no MicroSD is just a deal breaker unless i can buy a 64GB GT10.1 for the same price as a 32GB Xoom. I don't care about the plastic back, if it makes it lighter and is relatively sturdy, I'm okay with that.

Yes. I think I'm going with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 too. Only disappointment with it is, the 3 MP rear camera, a price to pay for the thinness. But, on the positive side, it has Divx/Xvid support too, so hopefully should not have video playback issues, as on Xoom.

I guess if you're willing to wait till June to get the exact same specs (besides the screen.. and the missing hdmi and microusb ports.) then go for it.

Yea but we have XDA. I guess it won't be long, before someone figures out a way or a ROM to pull it out
I know this falls in the endless wait for the next version circle but if nVidia can indeed deliver tablets with Quad Core Kal-El by August, I would feel bad waiting up to June (potentially July/August for Canadians).
I believe I will be picking a Wifi XOOM at launch in Canada (April 8).
XOOM Pros:
- The highest quality finish so far.
- HDMI out port
- Micro USB port
- Unskinned
- Relockable bootloader
- Currently the closest to a Dev device and most likely to receive the most AOSP love
- Available now (next week Wifi)
XOOM Cons:
- Heavy
- Screen is slightly sub par according to most
- Power button placement (not a big deal but still...)
- No 16 or 64 gig models (altough the 64Gb is kinda irrelevant when SD card is available)
- No USB charging (minor again as it would take long to charge, potentially fixed with custom ROM)
To me the Pros offset the Cons. I see two choice with Android tablets: Be an early adopter and get the XOOM, wait around Christmas for quad core/better speced/better priced/polished and stable 3.X.
Competition is just starting to heat up, once HTC, Sony, RIM, HP, MS release their product, most of which should be somewhere this summer except for maybe MS, we will start to see what the tablet market actually looks like.
I was talking to my wife about tablets when the iPad2 was just announced. I told her about the weight and size and her reply was "Why does everything always have to be thinner and lighter!??!" There you go. I'm happy with the Xoom and once I have this awesome PivotPad I won't have any problems with holding it anymore! Maybe in the future there will also be a solution to the video decoding issues...
The main reason I wanted to go for Samsung was the fact it was going to be a Google experience device and now they pull this Touchwiz crap.

Now that the Motorola Xoom and iPad 2 are out, any point to buying a Galaxy Tab?

Isn't the Galaxy Tab pretty much outdated now that we have the killer Motorola Xoom and uberpopular iPad 2?
Like the Geico advertising: what do you..live under the rock?
Thinner than iPad2 mind you http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/22/samsung-galaxy-tab-8-9-and-new-galaxy-tab-10-1-thinner-than-the/
FWIW, I bought my Galaxy Tab after the Xoom was released and after the iPad 2 was announced.
I was more interested in width than anything else and I couldn't find anything I the market that would match what the Tab could do and still fit in a jacket pocket.
I too with rather wait for the 8.9 tab due this summer or if size doesn't matter the new Galaxy Tab 10.1
Neither of those "uber tablets" fit in my pocket which is why the Galaxy Tab is sitting in front of me at the office while the iPad is sitting on a desk at home, unused. Bigger isn't always better.
It's the size! If there was a more capable tablet that still fit in my front trousers pocket, I'd look at it. Meantime the SGT is still best of breed.
I have a ipad and gtab....im for the gtab....i got mine a month ago...havent picked up my ipad...i gave it to my gal.....plus it fits in my back pocket

well, i've come back to the galaxy tab - just bought one from a forum member. for what i'm using it for a dual core tablet would be much benefit, besides there aren't any programs i use that even come close to slowing down the tab.
the size is perfect for book reading and it's not too big to lug around (it fits in some of my pockets).
xoom is heavy and has speakers in the back and I dont think it has gps . Ipad does not work and play well with windows pcs for transfering files and progs and they are too big to lug arround with you . Galaxy tab has it all . Only thing I don't like about tab is both speakers are on right side so it does not give you stereo feel when you watch movie but i use headphones and getting used to it . I did not flash it with any custom rom . It is perfect out of the box and all that without contract .
Its not outdated. 10.1" is too big for a portable tablet. Fair enough if its only for home or work use, but I wouldn't want to have to carry it around everywhere I go as a day to day tablet.
And speakers on the back are the worst tech decision since the iPhone 4 came out.

Well I've loved every minute of my pad and hardly ever put it down since purchase. With less than a week before the pad 2 drops something pulled me towards the galaxy tab and despite my intent to go for the pad i thought why not have a play with the tab and if it measures up id keep it to play second place to my pad when i get it.
Onlyhad it 24 hours now and i can't put the dam thing down. The size makes it so much more pocketable than the pad and despite my concerns over the battery being poor its really turned out to be a dam good bit of kit. Only just getting to the end of the first charge and I've had a hell of a lot of use from it.
All of a sudden the Friday deadline for the ipad 2 dropping really does not seem so far away anymore and im suddenly not in any rush to go back to apple ios.
Who knows maybe by Friday i won't even worry about getting the ipad and stay with the galaxy tab until the new models hit the UK.

Hi @All,
I only wanna know, if this Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9" has telephonical function, cause I hate IPAd and other Pads, where you can only surf and play games....
And if there will be no Phone functions, I will hate them All, cause why bying such big, senseless bricks, only for surfing, gaming? Samsung Galaxy Tab is the most wonderful thing, Samsung have created, so should it be for the Future!!!
U will find the 7" a good compromise. None know if the 8.9 could do voice

No one knows for sure seeing how it's not out yet, but I am sure that like with the gTab 7" the brilliant devs here at xda will be able to make it so it will make phone calls.
I actually just got my Tab today finally. I wanted to see what was announced at ctia and I wasn't overly impressed. The Flyer is a good size, but I have a feeling it'll be priced way too high. The new GTabs are too big. I have an iPad so I didn't want another large tablet as I wanted something I could easily take with me often. The Playbook looks nice, but the bezel looks larger and dimensions are too big for my pocket.
So I ended up right back where I wanted to be in the first place. My new shiny Sprint Tab won't see much downtime in the next couple of days I don't think
I think it's all about what you want out of a tablet. I have laptops and an iPad (1st gen) and there's definitely a place for the OG Tab with me.

Buy it for what it is right now or don't buy it. It's a tablet, not a phone, just like the iPad. Don't buy one and then complain every day because you wanted an oversized phone and no one cares or it can't be hacked. Buy it for what it is right now or don't buy it.
I am interested in GT 8.9", if it fits nicely in one hand I will probably buy it, if not, I am still sticking to my orginal GT. Seeing how laggy Honeycomb is, I actually don't mind Froyo on my GT
Best thing about the current GSM Tab is it's the only 7" + tablet with a phone, provided your willing to flash that feature.
You can also find them at great prices now in the used market.
It may not have next gen specs but it sure is capable of email and browsing
which is what most use a tablet for anyhow.
I also like the 5" Dell Streak another device you can find at low prices,
and it does fit in any pocket unlike the Tab
So this thing is definitely not out-dated. On April 1st, I picked up a Xoom and then on the 3rd I picked up a Galaxy Tab off CL for $300 (Leather case and Keyboard included). I find myself using my Galaxy Tab substantially more than I use the Xoom. The Xoom has effectively killed my laptop use, but for general surfing and usage, I tend to lean towards my Tab. If you can't hold out, its definitely worth it, but if you can, get the 8.9.
I wouldn't recommended it its soon slow i returned line today

like you I'm very tempted esp after seeing the pics of the new Transformer Prime. If I don't do an impulsive purchase, I'll wait to see if Samsung is going to release a Quadcore GTab.
If it's thinner, lighter and price-wise = or cheaper than the GT then hell yeah!

Who wouldn't like a faster processor? They're just planning to launch a 3G version of the Transformer I this month and it'll only have a HSPA 14.4 modem. I (finally) got my new 3G Tab from the UK yesterday. It's got a different display, pulls 8GB down on AT&T, and the KH3 ROM vastly improves screen responsiveness and transitions. Hardware's just one part of the equation. Samsung's audio and video codec support is second to none. If I abandon ship, it'll be to a quad-core Samsung Tab.

I'm still setting up the new Tab. Once I'm done I'll post the differences between it and the U.S. Wi-Fi version I've been using. The display's definately different. Maybe they updated it because of the Newton rings. When you look at it from the side, you can see a very subtle texture under the glass. Also, the color temperature is cooler and colors aren't as exagerated. It's a definite improvement (to me). The back has also been changed. It's now solid black with a soft-touch coating vs. the metal-esque grey plastic of the Wi-Fi version. The UK 3G Tabs were received by resellers last week and have an October build date.
If the build quality on the quad core is the same as the reg TF, then NO. The TF is a crappy product. The Tab is much more refined.

The build quality on my TF is perfectly fine - it is in no way a crappy product.
In my opinion, the TF is a different class of product to the Galaxy Tab 10.1, which is a definitely a "purer" tablet experience, and in general I do prefer my GT10.1 over my TF.
However, when I go on vacation next week, I will probably leave my GT10.1 at home, and take the Asus TF with dock instead because of the advantages the dock brings.
If the new TF can bring the tablet experience of the GT10.1, with the flexibility of the TF dock, I'm sold.
Regards,
Dave

I wouldn't call it "crappy" but I'd say it's pretty average. I looked at all the tablets before buying the G-Tab and none of them were as refined h/w wise. The Transformer's I played with all creaked and the display wan't as good as the G-Tab. Friends have Transformer's and some have had to either exchange them or send them in for service for various h/w issues. (And I know, the G-Tab has Newton rings but it hasn't effected my two or those owned by friends.)
is it not scaring any of you that quad cores are coming so fast.. it means google and the manifacturers did not even give their tablets a year to sit on their thrones (not even a half year for many ones).. it gives me the fear of being outdated "abnormally fast" (please mind that statement=abnormally fast) no matter what i buy... and now there is the risk for our tegra 2 tablets not to get ICS.. it also scares me to be outdated easily again.. i mean, if the biggest rival apple is still caring about their iphone 3gs even after 2 more new models, what manifacturers are doing sounds so nokia-ish (like giving birth to many children but not caring about their growing).. is it not?
No plans on switching. Waiting for ICS update and I will be happy.
Regarding TF201 I don't really fancy the "rings" used on on the back and the bezel that is big. But it got better battery with the dock (hence the big bezel).
Love my Galaxy Tab and wouldn't trade it for a Transformer.
The tab I want next is based on these factors:
- form: how thin and portable is it
- display: must be vivid and sharp, no les than samsung quality
- expansion: absolute must. itis the single place the STab failed on for me
- price: has to be market price or better, no first adopter prices please
- processor: the more powerful a processor you get, the less likley you will need to upgarde for a longer term
I will hold no loyalty to a brand, but some brands do things better insome areas than others. For now, the Asus pad, at least visually, looks pretty sweet.
If the quad/tegra3 can play my 1080p mkv content off my portable hard drive while connected to a HDTV with the HDMI cable plugged in then I'm sold.
As of right now when I bring movies home to my parents for my dad to watch I still have to use my bulky laptop. I got the tab in hopes I could decrease my travel weight. Alas I've only added as now I bring my tab AND my laptop.
So sad.

Need some opinions

I am looking to buy a Galaxy Tab 2. I had the Nook Tablet and loved the size but wanted a tablet that was an actual tablet. I ended up buying the new ipad but things were tight and ended up having to sell it.
I want another tablet and love the size, speed, and battery life.I was playing with it at Best Buy and noticed that you can only use the entire screen in landscape mode. Are there any custom roms that fix this. Also, is everyone pretty happy with your GT2? I have an iphone and I love it. But I miss having an android device that I can customize and mess with. Just wanna make sure this is the right one. I think for the price, you can't miss!
Worth it!!
I love mine. Right now I am using the new 10.1 right now. I started with the 7in thinking I wouldn't want it to big. I then went to the 8.9 and yet again wanted bigger one. Plus it was nice the tab 2 10.1 came out as the same price as the 8.9. I bought mine at micro center; they had it for $249 which is 50 cheaper than best buy. Anyway yes Samsung pretty much owns the market. I loved all my galaxy tablets. Hope this helps and good luck.
I am loving my Tab 2 7.0. In fact, I have purchased several Android tablets looking for that right one, and I think I have deduced that none are really iPad killers, but the Tab 2 7.0 comes as close to being the ideal Android Tablet there is. I like it so much that I will more than likely sell my Xoom Wifi, and perhaps Transformer Prime and pick up the Tab 2 10.1.
PROS: size and feel, battery life it great (I charge about every other day with moderate us - now if you streamed video constantly, I would say you would charge every day). Speed is very nice. Browsing with no lag - very zippy. GPS works great. I have a 7" car mount and use it for Navigation and it works great. Good sound from the dual speakers (at least for this size of tablet). Screen is sharp. It has a power saving mode available in the settings that may extend your battery life a bit.
CONS: Of course, Touchwiz, but it sounds like you would customize, anyway. I just put Apex Launcher on it for now (I have no plans to root it and flash custom ROM at this time). The automatic brightness setting is almost always too dim for my tastes. This sounds wierd, but it is the hardest tablet to clean that I own - the screen is very "slimy" for lack of a better term. I can take microfiber cloths to any of my other tablets, and will little effort have them mirror shined, but it takes work on the Tab 2 7.0 - everything just smears really bad. Never experienced this before with a tablet. The last con is the backing - though it looks cool, the plastic is hard and slick - prone to scratches and dropping as it can slide out of your hands.
You have another option in the Kindle Fire. Head over to the Kindle Fire Development thread and check out some of the wonderful ROMS available there - I use GedeROM 1.55. If times are tight, you can pick up a Fire for next to nothing, root it and have a nearly pure ICS experience on it. I actually like the Fire's form factor better than the Tab 2 7.0. Cons of course are no Bluetooth, GPS, or Camera - which may be a killer for most. I would consider it the ultimate secondary cheap tablet to play with.
Good luck!
Rob
You may want to look at the Asus Prime line or the Acer Iconia Line. The development section on the Tab 2 is pitiful. There are only 2 ROMs available. Acer is about to release their A700 which will make the Tab 2 look like a toy. And the Asus line is really starting to get interesting. I bought the Tab 2 for my son, bought the 7" from Costco and when I got home it was the 10.1 inch. So I'll keep it but until the development increases for this tablet you may want to look elsewhere.
I suggest that the OP heads over to the Prime XDA forums before investing into any Asus tablet. Six months with mine has been nothing but disappointments. I simply cannot and will not recommend Asus to anyone. Any correspondence with them is further reason to avoid. They are going to have to have English based support to penetrate the US market further. If not phone, then at least someone to translate their support site and email correspondence for them. I recently had an owner survey from them and it was embarrassing.
Again, it is up to the OP to research, however and determine their own view.

This will change due to the volume Samsung has to be selling on the tab 2 7.0

what did you use to over clock it? And did you get rid of the screen capture and the mini apps

I use setcpu to over clock all of my devices. The app is cheap but in actuality is very polished and does its job well.
I also removed both for my own reasons (I like a very simplistic look). I would recommend finding the ROM you like, and backing it up and then trying a bunch of different mods.

[Q]Should i Buy a Glaxy Tab 2?

Well I recently got a Pantech burst, hence my name. But now im looking for a tablet for personal use and school. Im also interested in the ASUS Eee pad and the nexus 7. Any tips on what to get/reasons to get the tab 2?
I have an gtab 2 10.1 and i have to say that its amazing. Its smooth, has a nice display, good music boxes for a tablet and the battery life is awesome. ( 28 h with intensive use of wifi games and some youtube vids.)
The only thing thats bad about this tablet is the camera, but i think... ITS A TABLET! NOT A CANON EOS!
A little pro for you is the support of the users here in xda

Be cautious when considering the Asus. I bought a new Transformer Prime 64GB, mainly because it seemed to be rated high and was cutting edge. It never worked right. Twice I had to send it to Texas for "repair", the first time when it was only a few days old. Asus has them locked and the unlocking app doesn't work for many, so there's no way to load CWM or a custom ROM. While just under the return window I sent mine back to Amazon for a refund and ordered the 10.1 Tab 2. It may not be cutting edge, but Samsung stuff is solid and there's a lot of support. You might also want to spend some time reading the threads here on XDA about the Asus before you decide. I wish I did. Just my two cents!
I had the 8gb nexus 7 and loved it but not enough storage for me. I have the Gtab 2 7.0 with a 32gb SD card and am very happy with my purchase. If storage isn't an issue for you I would go with the nexus 7.

this.
as much as I like my tab 2, for most folk the 16gb nexus 7 is the better purchase.

Agreed. I've gone through a couple phases with my Tab 2 7" thus far. I was initially a bit disappointed in it as the screen and performance weren't quite as crisp as my Galaxy S2 phone. But after more day-to-day use and comparing it with the hacked Nook Color I'd been using previously it's really started to grow on me and I quite like it now, especially given the price. But if I had to buy new right now I'd probably opt for a 16GB Nexus 7. The extra space provided by an external storage card on my Tab is largely useless as far as most apps are concerned.

I got the Tab2 because it shipped with ICS, has a back camera and expandable storage. No regrets. I am not in the US so I wouldn't have been able to access all the Google services. Tab2 was a bit less ($10) than the Nexus for me.
You should search. You would see the other five threads asking the same question.
No, don't buy one. Get an ipad.

Ha good one. Like I would spend my money on an apple product. Also the nexus tablet is like Two weeks? Two days old. I doubt someone compared it to this but thanks for the negativity downer Dan!
I am very happy with my Tab 2, but in the end I think the i-pad is the better choice: many more tablet apps available.

Like scottx said buy an IPad so you can support sue happy Apple. They need more money so they can block or delay us in getting new non-apple products.
Seriously, I would do a lot of research and find local stores that have various ones on display and take some time to play with them. This is a big purchase for some of us. I kind of rushed into it and am not sure I made the best decision even though I am happy with my Tab 2. I had a Toshiba Excite 10 and it was great also with the exception that there is still not a lot of developers making apps that are compatible or support the Tegra 3 processor. And the fact that there was a glitch in the camera (which is better than the Tab 2) that caused some issues.
Good luck in you search and decision.
Whatever you do.. get something over 8GB ,,,,,,

Sure
I'd owned iPad 2 about a year but traded it for Galaxy Tab 2 (5100) so I have experience for both devices.
iPad is absolutely unusable without JailBreak. And you can not guarantee some smart guy will make a jailbreak for new iOs version.
But it is smooth and handy and sweet and yummy. And all girls are yours (if you own Ferrari as well).
SGT2 is scarcely usable with stock Samsung rom. It's sluggish and it lives its own life and doesn't care what exactly you want to get by poking your finger into the screen. Sometimes it may make an exception and mercifully respond to your wishes. May be such an impression comes after iPad since raw android users don't experience anything like that.
Yesterday with help of comrade Endoroid I managed to flash CyanogenMod 9 to my SGT2. And you know what - it is smooth almost like iPad now but you haven't to perform all those Voodoo dance to just put a file on it. So now I have all the mighty might of android swiss knife and smoothness of near of such of Ipad.
As a summary - I would recommend you this device if you can handle flashing a custom rom and don't bother about warranty.
Make your choice (c) John Kramer.
Got my GTab 2 since yesterday. It ran only 1 minute stock (to copy CM9 and gapps on flash) . Now I'm running CM 9 RC2 - CM10 4.1 is in progress by codeworkx. It's so smooth :fingers-crossed: ! Love it! Only thing is, that dock features like audio/hdmi over dock connector aren't supported yet.
I've read in many threads that the build quality of the Nexus 7 is not very good. Asus tried to build it so that it would be easy to tear down and replace parts, and in order to do that, they did not use any glue to hold in the screen. This may been nice for the repair department, but it sucks for the average user constantly getting a loose screen (eventually causing damage to the screen).
Thanks guys, im pretty sure im going to get the tab, and whats this about the nexus 7's screen coming loose. Any links to that??

The problem is that there is no glue.
Check out this video on the teardown.
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus-7-Teardown/9623/1
Hmm.. and one more thing. It looks like the screen has yet another problem with "ghosting" images.
http://www.androidauthority.com/nexus-7-ghosting-issues-affect-some-displays-99349/
Oh and also it seems that Tegra 3 chips have a severe "flickering" problem with the display.
Gee.. that is like 3 separate problems directly related to the screen
There is a hardware problem that affects the flickering in the display. When the brightness level is turned down, the IPS panel is affected when the broadcom WiFi chip receives data. So, if you want to use the internet and turn down the brightness, you will get (from what other people say) severe flickering on the screen. Sounds annoying.
I got myself the galaxy tab 2 and overall well i will say for stock rom it does ok if you are doing light work (surfing, and music) although you do see the screen or tapping of screen lag when you are running more things. However overall rather stable for android os 4.0.3. i think there is an update to 4.0.4 but i guess i will stick with 4.0.3 a while longer before moving on to custom roms.

NO! Don't buy Galaxy Tab 2, I suggest you to buy an Asus Transformer Pad than Gtab 2 because some reasons:
1. It's cheaper
2. It's using NVIDIA Tegra 2 GPU (Transformer) which run graphics very smoothly than Gtab 2 which only powered by PowerVR
3. Asus Transformer's dock is very usable, your tab can transformed into a netbook
4. The dock could extend the battery of the tab up to 6-10 hours as I know
5. The widget and live wallpaper is pretty cool and awesome B)
6. Asus built in apps is very usable too
And the last...
7. It's have good specs for gaming
But I just suggest you and you've still consider which is the best for you

You should install this rom,if you like stock roms. Very nice indeed. Remove the bloatware, install some sort of app that stop apps from starting on their own, and you will see a nice improvement.
