##RTN# question for resetting Froyo? - Epic 4G General

I happened to be in my local Sprint store that is a repair center, and was waiting on my fiancee to pay the bill when I happened to look through the glass where the techs are at, and they had a memo on the comp screen about the Froyo issues and the first thing they were to do is a ##RTN# to try to clear the issues, then a hard reset if that didn't work. I have my MSL, but IF I do a ##RTN#, do I need any other info to program back into my phone doing a reset that way, or not?
I just don't feel like waiting on Sprint to do it if I can do it myself since the basic hard reset didn't clear all my issues.

Well i just typed that in...in the view section just write all that information down and if you really want to test the reset then do it after your wrote all that stuff down.

Are you sure that's all the info I need? I'd hate to hose myself and have to go to Sprint.

well when i activated my phone with that chat thing online all i needed was that DEC/HEX and at one point they gave me the MSID to enter into this one section. Im not sure where i went for that part but if something did go wrong you could just activate again online. you dont need to go to the Sprint store.

Rtn just puts it back to factory settings... don't need to reenter mdn or msid

Ok I just did it...
at first it took me to recovery mode and wiped all data and sht. So I rebooted and because of the rom I was on, I had to do the Android setup again bla bla. Then Hands Free Activation kicked up. Told me that it could not activate my phone >.< But it took me to the Sprint Zone app and I pressed "Activate my phone" and 2 mins later it was activated again.

this fixes gps issues, at least for me :3

Accessing the PRI/DDTM/DOTM Radio Settings?

Long story short:
Is there a way to access the PRI ("Product Release Instructions") which are "...a group of settings for the various options inside the CDMA radio (things like the carrier name, default SIDs and NIDs, and slot cycle settings). Every CDMA phone comes with a particular version of these settings pre-installed.", specifically the DDTM/DOTM settings?
Long story long:
On the HTC Apache (ppc-6700) older versions had the ability for a call to come through during an EvDO data session (call interrupt). Apparently, Sprint had HTC change the DDTM/DOTM settings in all Apaches manufactured after April and now this function does not work anymore: data gets priority, call gets bumped to voicemail. People would prefer the 'call interrupt' method but we cannot downgrade the PRI settings.
The solution to our problem might be: "...Either someone needs to write a program (or leak/steal one) that will allow that setting to be accessed directly, or someone needs to figure out how to decode .ppst files...if someone can figure out the format of the defaut.ppst file and create one that keeps DDTM/DOTM at voice only while not screwing up the other components of the file, then you should be able to again have calls interrupt active data."
All of this information and more was from luv2chill and the larger thread on the topic can be found Here if you need more detailed information.
Any help from you guys would be greatly welcomed as we're kind of stuck on the issue at pdaphonehome.com.
(I'm not so much a techincal person in this area, so I'm acting more as a relay of information...)
I know this hasn't been answered in forever, but I thought I'd just go ahead and do it.
The simple way to access DDTM settings is to go into your phone's dialer and enter ##3282# (##DATA#), hit edit, and enter your MSL (6-digit activation code given to you @ first phone activation or can be obtained simply by calling customer care). You will find it under various modules in this hidden menu. I can't tell you exactly where because I don't have your phone and this menu changes from phone-to-phone.
Glad you asked the question though. It's quite important for CDMA users. GSM users don't have to worry about it, being able to simultaneously connect to mobile data during a call and all... #Jealous#

Activate SPrint HTC MOGUL 6800

Ok. Hi ya'll. My boyfriend and I have an account together but I'm always going on to are account he blocked me from me there. Well yesterday the genius that I am tried to reset my phone so here I am pressing ##786#, not knowing that it was going to delete everything like my number. So I call Sprint today and they wont let me get into the account what I wanna know is if any of ya'll know that ## number so I could activate it. I know my msid already I just need that dam ## number....so please Help!:
I believe that you want ##778#, but to do any editing, you need your MSL. There is a program called GetSPC that uses your HEX-based ESN to calculate your MSL unlock code.
You can find your HEX ESN behind your battery. Make sure you use proper capitalization when using GetSPC.
the only problem is you can get all of those numbers but without a sprint rep pressing those magic buttons on their end your phone will just say that your account can not be validated if he blocked you off the account and wont give you access to it you cant activate the phone. if you both are on same account just have him do it. without his or sprints help you might as well go outside and find a rock and try to make phone calls with that because thats what your phone will be. sorry if im coming off harsh but its true lol. good luck.
On the mogul you can get your MSL simply...
I will have to look up the codes for it, but the just of it is.
## something for diag mode ##
restart phone let it run for like 4 minutes, then disable diag mode, and it creates a text file which contains the MSL
I found it on xda somewhere, will do some research

How do certain apps identify you? aForum and Discussion Forum for example.

I was just wondering, how does a program identify your phone? I'm curious because I recently purchased a used cell phone and apparently this girl had downloaded a program called "aforum" and "discussion forum" on her phone. I liked what the programs had to offer so I wiped the phone, rooted it and re-downloaded the same programs.
I was surprised to find that the screen name of the user was still in use for both "aforum" and "android forums" (discussion forum). Is there any way to get rid of this data from your phone? Maybe it's impossible because they use the imei/serial number of the phone?
if you did a factory reset, then that may be why its still there. from what i have seen, a factory reset doesnt really delete all files on the phones internal memory (i did a factory reset after i made a custom framework look, and it was still there) if you dont want this to happen, you may need to use the motorola tools and completly wipe/reinstall the phone.
The actual command is probably TelephonyManager.getDeviceId(). If the program says it needs Read Phone State and Identity permission, then it can read your imei or meid, phone number, voice mail number, phone type and a few other things unique to the device.
Mostly this stuff can't be changed, but if you're using T-Mobile or AT&T then you can try putting someone else's sim card.
Another possibility is that the program has saved data to the internal SD card. Less likely, but possible.

Thanks for the reply. Wow, I did not know that programmers actually can get this information from your phone through an app. This is pretty invasive. An app that can get your imei, serial number, sim card number, phone #, etc. I guess I'm sorely out of luck when trying to clear this identifying data?
Is it possible to fake this information?
Not that I have anything to hide, I just think that my business is my business and shouldn't be anyone's else's business (literally).
As far as I know it's not possible to fake any of this information.
You just have to be aware of what permissions applications ask for. These things make sense to programmers, but I know from experience it's not always easy to make things clear to end users.
Just pay attention to what the application says it's allowed to do after you click Install, but before you press OK.

Strange problem on flashing to Boost Mobile. Good internet but no voice.

Hi everyone. I purchased a sanyo incognito phone, successfully activated it and followed a guide i found here on how to pfash evo to Boost Mobile. I followed all steps without any problem. Did a copy o all correct nv items, copy of nam from donor phone to evo. I successfully zeroed all location (flashed to RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.29.651.5_Radio_2.15.00.09.01_NV_1.77_CNV_release_150224_signed and then unrevoked3), did restart and found at ##786# all zeroes in mein and esn. Then successfully write donor MEID (esn was generated correctly and writed by itself). Then i put HA and AAA passwords into the phone.
What i've got now - is fully working internet with 3g (i'm not sure, but speed sems to be pretty fast), however voice and text messaging are not working. Text messaging showing error code 97 class 2, and when I'm trying to call someone i got a srange message from operator (i believe from sprint) - i attached it.
The only thing happen strange to me - when i tried to write all aaa and ha passwords with 0 profile in QPST Service Programming andter flashing it whowes me an error something like ESN has been changed or something.. However i found this on google and somebody wrote that i shouldn't worry about that - all information was written successfully.
In settings about the phone i see next information:
MEID: donors meid
Phone number: correct phone number as on the donor
IMSI: some numbers?
current username: boost mobile user name
prl 60683'baseband 2.15.00.01.01
What am I doing wrong? Any help would be gratefully appreciated! I just don't know what to do - i didn't find similar problem on the whole internet! Maybe i was looking wrong?
Thanks for everyone in advance.
and here what I've got in QXDM after writing correct meid into the EVO - check attached picture
should DIAG TX items be zeroes?

Have you done a factory reset, and re-input the ha aaa passwords. And all other info in service programming? Had to do it with two phones cause i counldnt receive incoming calls or texts. After a factory reset. Then the fresh write, all worked. I cancelled the ota but let it kick in after final reboot. Might be worth a try.

If Sprint is saying Error Code 16 Switch number whatever and is calling a representative. Your EVO has been flagged. You'll need to let the call go thru answer their identity questions about your Boost account and they will clear it. I just did it 2 days ago. NOTHING else will clear the code 16, ONLY a Sprint Security Specialist can clear it. After they reset your Boost account the voice will work.
Hooray! I did it! It works now! Thank you everyone, and especially Dean_L. Next time when i called any number the system transfered to a representative who asked me a few questions about my account and then reset it for me. Now the phone calling is working. However text message still not working. Trying to resolve that problem now. Thanks again
Fixed problem with text messaging by calling customer service. They asked me what is the phone I'm using and i said Incognito - lie, but it worked!
The only thing left - is the MMS messages. I can recieve them, but can't send! Running miui latest rom. I changed MMS apn http://mm.myboostmobile.com (through voice dialer "Open A P N"), but no luck. Is any suggestions on this? Thanks.
Finally i found the fix. It's already been here, but i will post it again. The way to send MMS is to install Go SMS Pro from the market (it's free) and change in settings different mmsc address. The "Open A P N" method is not working. Or i installed SexynSmooth rom, which is sense rom and change mmsc by dialing ##DATA# - and it worked great for me. ANd exen long text messages works too (on miui they not working, unless you install gosmspro and change settings in it to manually partition them).
I love MIUI rom - so far it's the best one, but i don't want to use those forsk like installing different apps and not gonna be able to send long text messages. Hope they will change it in future versions and will app manual mmsc to their application.

[Q] MMS Issues

I have an unlocked Samsung Focus with a Straight Talk SIM card. Voice calls work great, Internet and texting works great, but I can not get MMS to work. Straight talk refers me to Samsung, and Samsung refers me to Straight Talk. I'm thinking MMS may not be possible with Straight Talk service on this particular phone.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm having the same issue. Tried the Network Profile App, as well. Straight Talk even tried to reset some stuff...nothing has worked. I'm thinking there's gotta be a way.
Please read other post before posting..there is another post that is basically the same in the nature of the problem.

Here was my response to that thread
You might want to enable the automatic sim settings. This setting is off by default due to samsung. I think the reason is to keep people on the same carrier that the phone was originally intended for use ie. samsung focus Att
1. Bring up diagnotics app ##634#
2. open diagnostics app located in your apps list (swipe left from start screen)
3. in the diagnostic app type 40*047#3
4. there will be a confimation prompt to confirm autosim detection
5. then the phone will restart and you should have MMS and cellular functionality and internet
This has helped my samsung focus from dropping in and out of my 3g connection...wonderful ...hope this works for you and confirm if it does work please.
I take no credit for this method and here is the original post http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1241721
I saw your post...does not work for my phone.

@inteller How did Samsung respond?
Does any one know of an app that will allow you to "push" pictures between phones?
Yes that app is an email attachment

Samsung Focus (i917) Straight Talk MMS now working for me!
If you already have your phone "Windows Broken" and have an application to deploy XAP files, here is a XAP that deploys Straight Talk MMS settings straight to your phone. After the file is deployed using WP7 application deployment (or other deployment tool), go to the diagnostic screen (##634#) and enter *#9908# to get to the GPRS settings. Select StraightTalk.xml then press save and reboot phone. You should now have MMS! Yay! :victory: File attached below.
