The dialer is missing on the sprint version but I managed to get to it..kinda. I installed LauncherPro and HomeSmack. The dialer shows up but when I tap it, it opens Network Manager and gives the error "cannot make calls with the galaxy tab". Hopefully this is a clue that someone more experienced can use. Also there are some fishy apk's I found. If anyone wants a list, or actual apk files please message me.

How are you going to make calls (if at all you somehow get that working) when you don't have a voice calling plan attached to it? The ESN is in the database as a data only device, so i see no point. This is a CDMA Tab.
It's not like the GSM models where you swap the SIM with one from a phone that has a voice/data plan attached to it.
It's assigned a phone number, so it is voice capable. This IS possible to do... but I don't want to try anything crazy until we get Sprint's stock firmware .tar in case I need to wipe completely from a screw-up.
Does anyone know when this will be released? I need it bad!
even to get it to work via Google voice would be nice.
I have hopes that there is a way to make it work. It seems the phone stuff is there, just disabled.
Looks like a Odin package is being made for the Sprint Tab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9752852&postcount=16
Additionally, you CAN make emergency calls from the Sprint tab. I've done it
So the capability is there.
I'm also dying to make calls on the sprint tab...really hope someone can help us out.......

The point is not whether it is assigned a phone number (it's a CDMA device so it IS assigned an MDN on the network) or not but whether the account (in this case the Tab) can make and receive phone calls like under a normal plan.
Bump for the cause. I activated my Sprint Galaxy Tab in my country without problem but I still see the roaming icon and the legend "International". Is there a piece of sotware that informs the tablet that Im not using it in a Sprint network or inside EU?
Sorry but my knowledge of cellular networks is null.
i receive calls on spring galaxy tab
i got incoming calls on my sprint galaxy tab but i i dial a call the message comes up i did alot of changes to it trying to get it all working but i didnt realize that the incoming was working since i was only trying to make calls on it and last night someone called me and i was able to talk on it.
only incoming though
so now we know its for sure
with this its obvious that its possible to get outgoing since everything is all there i have my line on cricket and web works for a bit but it reverts back
i was messing with files of a galaxy s but they wont work anyone know how to
be able to install them on the tab i just copied them to my filesystem and they wont install
have you tried groove ip?
it has been working well for me

Sprint Galaxy Tab and GrooVe IP
I installed grooVe IP last night on my 7" Sprint Galaxy Tab. It was a little bit of a hassle because first you have to set up Google Voice. Then you need to download the Google Voice app and go through the setup. I rebooted my phone and was then able to get more setting adjustments on Google voice website on my desktop to set up my tablet. It seems that I can now make calls from my Tablet. I tried a few different numbers. 2 things I can't get to work is the bluetooth functionality (always comes out through tablet speakers even though "Bluetooth" is the only option selected) and being able to receive calls. I was reading on Google that they are currently working with Sprint to roll out selective call forwarding but that my number is not allowed at this time. Strange that it will let me make a call but not receive one. Anyone have a work around for this. I tried to set up my voicemail but I could never dial into my tablet to enter the activation code provided by Google. If I could get it to receive calls I would be ecstatic. I love being able to do a search on google for a business and when it shows the phone number, be able to call that person by touching the number and not having to do it from my regular phone. Especially when driving.
I have been reading many posts on flashing roms and such to USA galaxy tablets that allow them to make calls. Ok, I understand that. What I want to know is how that all works out since no US plans have call minutes for our tablets. I am looking for specifics. Is this VOIP? or what? Second, Why only 2G if this mod is made?
For GSM tabs, you need to use a sim with voice and data.

Its VOIP. At least the ones I've seen. Made over wifi. Since there is no calling plan with minutes tied to the Tab it can't be a typical voice call. Sipdroid from the market with Google Voice accomplished this as well and is very easy to set up without root (I'm pretty sure). Just set up GV. Download sipdroid and before entering anything click on the bottom tab that says create with GV account. It will ask password and to create a pbx account and ow right in that screen. Then its done.
Its funny but if you try to select the dialer it says calls can't be made with Samsung Galaxy Tab. But if you select the box for a number the keyboard dialer pops up and allows you to type a number! Works great.
I just tried it over 3g with wifi off and works as well. Just select allow voice over 3g in your account tab.
This was showed to me and there is a thread on droidx forums
I realize this isn't 100% relevant to your thread, just thought I would point you to it if you were wanting to make calls on tab.

All the provider cares about is the Sim card. So all you need is a sim with what you want, and then change/disable the IMEI of your tab.
I was able to set this up bit when I call my goog voice # from my wife's phone it still only rings my dumbphone. Do I need to add my tab number to Google voice somehow?

Go to your Google account and select the voice icon. Settings in top right. Voice setting. Then at bottom select add another phone. I was able to add it, but cannot get it to verify. So I'm not sure if it can receive calls, just make.

For SIPDroid, does it do that annoying thing where it asks the receiving person to accept the call ? Or is it just like regular calling?
Does it do that call back thing?
If you install firmware that allows phone calls it works no different than any other Android phone. Pull the SIM out of your Android phone and insert into the Tab and viola you have a 7" Android phone that can make calls and browse the web. The easiest way to think about it is that the Tab is a big Android phone, the carrier's don't know any difference because it's running the same O/S as Samsung's Android phones.
I have a stock Tmobile HTC G2 on Android 2.3.4. When I attempt to make a call while connected to a wifi network, I receive this message "No Internet Calling Account". This only happens when my phone is on wifi and it doesn't matter if I have wifi calling enabled or not, I still get this message. I have to disable wifi to actually make a call on this phone now.
For reference, I have two HTC G2's. This particular one doesn't have a data plan, so it stays on wifi. Both phones are stock and running 2.3.4 Android.
I remember the first time I tried to make a call after the upgrade to 2.3.4, it popped up with what program to use for the call. I hit what I thought was the green normal phone one, but then I get a warning message that says "No Internet Calling Account" There are no Internet calling accounts on this phone. Add one now? My choice is Add or cancel. If I choose to add it brings me to a screen to add SIP accounts.
I guess I need to figure out a way to keep this SIP (Internet Calling) from being the "default" setting when dialing out while on Wifi? For reference, my other G2 dials out just fine when wifi is connected and uses Tmobile's network like it should, or I can use the WifI calling. It behaves as it should. On this other phone, neither of those options work on this phone. I have to be off wife to actually dial out. I can receive calls just fine though, even with wifi connected.
No help on this one? Someone has to know what is going on?
Yes...it is pretty simple. I'm at work right now so I can't give you the exact details, but go into Menu > Settings > Phone (I believe it's in the phone tab), scroll to the bottom and there is a segment on Internet Calling. Just uncheck Internet Calling as default for all calls; select it to be used just for Internet Calls. That should solve the problem.
So you have a call plan but not data plan correct?

Correct, I have a normal Calling plan and texting, just no data on this phone. My work provides me with this number, but I'm not good enough to get data.
Anyway, I've been using this phone like that since Dec, and its never been an issue until the upgrade to Gingerbread.
Have you installed an app called voice changer? If so uninstall it and see if that works, it was causing that same issue on my sons phone. You can also try going to settings - apps - manage apps, choose the app named dialer and click clear defaults.
Now we might be getting somewhere. I do have voice changer downloaded. Don't think I've ever used it. Il drop it off and see what happens. Thanks a bunch

JC, you nailed it. First I went through and reset the default on the dialer which was one of the things I was trying to do, I just couldn't figure out how to do it.
So the next time I attempted to make a call (while connected to wifi) it came up with 2 options to dial out. One was the voice dailer app, and the other was Dialer, but it had (SIP) behind it. That Dialer was the one I hit the first time around and set it to default thinking there is no way I want the default to be the voice changer, but for some reason it only gives you that SIP option. I'm guessing the voice changer is hogging the standard dial out option.
Since it still appeared that I couldn't call out with just the normal dialer, I went ahead and uninstalled that Voice Changer app and that was it. Its back to the way I'm expecting it!
I'm glad you ran into that with your son's phone as you figured out exactly what the issue was. I don't think I have that app on my other phone and that explains why it wasn't experiencing the same thing.
Same issue, but with HTC Desire 600. I did a factory reset, then restored from Google backup. Now I get that message on every phone number.
I can't find those settings or anything, it's Sense 5 and everything is different here. I have no SIP apps or anything installed on phone. please help
T-Mobile has an interesting app that switches calls and basic texts (SMS not MMS) over WiFi when you lose cellular coverage. There's not too many interesting things in there, but its something that can be deployed to an ATIV S for those of you who are using T-Mobile. This is only the T-Mobile USA version. The T-Mobile European devices might have something similar.
This app has some hooks to RPC Server, so I have no clue what it completely does (as RPCServer.dll can't be actively decompiled easily), so I can't test this. It also has a PROVXML included as well, so I'm not sure how you deploy that on Samsungs. I pulled the app from the GDR2 ROM available for the Lumia 521.
The link below is everything I extracted of use from the CommonFiles, so it includes a few other T-Mobile apps in there too.
The name of the file is CommonFiles.7z and is ~100mb.

WiFi Calling
It installs on an interop-unlocked ATIV S, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work. The app can't remember its settings between launches, and turning the feature on doesn't do anything.
The manifest says it requires ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES, and XAP contains a RPC native component. My guess is that it requires an RPC service only available on T-Mobile-branded phones.
Hmm. Is there anyplace in the registry or something that has a list of available services? I can look in the ROM for it, or I guess that could be its own thread/discussion for another time.
Anyways, users who reviewed the app in the Store mention that they are billed for the usage of minutes and texts using the app, so I'm not sure how they authenticate with the SIM or something.
EDIT:
Here's a good note for those who didn't go to the WP App Store:

Works great on Nokia Lumia 521 except for an outgoing SMS glitch (certain SMS character lengths that end in a punctuation, number, or other special character WILL NOT send over WiFi calling but send fine over cellular). Make sure to update your 911 address online with TMo or it won't work! Also call 611 if you're on a grandfathered plan with actual minutes, and have t-mobile add WiFi calling feature to your plan for free so that calls made using WiFi calling won't count against your plan minutes. If your Lumia didn't come with the app from the factory, you have to hard reset (erases all personal data) after installing app to get it to work.

Hmm, that last part is awkward. No way I'm hard-resetting if I don't have to, although it *would* be convenient for international travel (SMS are free on T-Mobile but calling from overseas still costs a little bit unless doing it using WiFi calling).
You can indeed find the list of all installed services in the registry. They're under HKLM; you may need to dig a bit as they are in a few places. (I keep meaning to provide a registry search feature, but alas, this has not happened yet.) Of course, most of the registry entries for them aren't very informative; these things aren't supposed to be user-visible, so I'm not sure if you'll recognize a WiFi-Calling-related service when you see it anyhow. Also, it might not be available on other (non-T-Mobile-branded) phones anyhow, and we'd need root or a custom ROM to install such a thing.

you are missing two additional parts...this xap is just the "front end" to the whole Wi-Fi calling mechanism. You need the Wi-Fi calling dll and the certificate. It "forgets" the settings unless everything is in place.
If you really want to get it working, get the Lumia 810 FFU and extract it as a vhd. It has everything "baked in" including the certificates and the necessary "ims.config" file.

Not sure if everyone knows this but, there is a App in the marketplace that will make calls over WI-FI or your data plan using your Google voice account. It's called "Spare Phone"
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/spare-phone/9508dd56-e881-420f-9185-96ccba768463
I left the US for a business trip, I used this app with the hotel's Wi-Fi for the entire week. No extra fees when Verizon said it would be almost $0.80 a min to make a call and $2 per MB...Wi-Fi only for a week.
It is $3.50 tho...
It also doesn't use your tmobile number. That's the big draw of WiFi calling.

I guess I need to sit down with the T-Mobile app for several hours, it might be using a sip server or something along those lines for the main cellular interface. I'll need to see what all this does too. If anyone want to help, just download the Lumia 521 ROM with NaviFirm+
I believe the product code and the model number is in the 521 thread in my signature.

Shame that Samsung disabled it. I'm on T-Mobile version of Galaxy Note 4. With this SIP widget, I was able to bring up the account setup page. But I still could not make calls through VOIP. WTF
No more SIP after Lollipop
After Lollipop Update unfortunately Sip Widget stops working as well. Anyone out there with a working soution? Native support preferred... Thanx!
It seems to be a API change on lollipop. SIP Switch Widget is aware of that (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.siebeck.sipswitch).
So there is still hope.
Native SIP on a Samsung Phone
Hi All, I've had a problem trying to locate the native sip details on my Samsung mobile and could not find it in the normal place, after much searching on the internet everyone was suggesting installing a third party app I wasn't keen on that.
After a few days playing around with the phone, I managed to find it, you will need to trick the phone below is how i done it
1. you will need go on you pc, open up your browser, go to the google page then sign into you gmail account that is associated the phone
2 then click Gmail on the left hand side clickGmail then select contacts
3. you will then need to create a new contact for example 'Office' in the phone field type 'Extension [email protected] or dns name', ie [email protected] or [email protected], then save
4. Now go into you phones contacts, you will see the contact Office now dial it, then phone will then say there is internet call setting you will need to add it, add all the required details and press save, wait till the phone says registered if not edit and check the details. Once this section of the settings gone there is no way to find it again so be careful
To make a sip call you will need to log on to google via a browser and add a new phone details under an existing name or create new details 'Extension [email protected] or dns name'
This works for me and I hope it works for you

Worked for me, thanks!
The first time I tried to add the account (I use voip.ms) it didn't allow me to save. I had entered data into a couple of the optional fields. It let me hit discard, so I discarded and added again. This time, I didn't add any optional fields. It accepted my account info and displayed it in the accounts list. I then edited the freshly added SIP account and added the data into the optional fields which it this time let me save.
Damn you Samsung, damn you....
Tried on Verizon Note 3... Worked!
Tried on Verizon Note 3, But I need to change the settings again! Anyway to clear without resetting the phone? What is the file location for the settings? Can we just edit the XML File. I remember doing something like that years ago!

Any Idea about same in Note 5?
Probably partly solution
Well, still have no official solution. So I dare to offer you one which works for me:
1. You should to install any app that give you ability to activity access (something like QuickShortcut Maker - sorry can't post links by rules restrictions)
2. Run it and find there in activities dropdown menu: Phone "com.android.phone", and there: Phone "Sip Settings (com.android.phone/com.android.services.telephony.sip.SipSettings)". Tap on it and choose "Create" link.
After these actions you will have ability to manage your SIP accounts.
Tested on SM-N910F 5.1.1
Hope it will help you folks and burn in hell Samsung for these disrespectful jokes.

Hi,
Sorry to bother you but what version ROM are you using?
I've updated to N910FXXS1DQC3 which is 6.0.1 and I still can't seem to access the SIP menu without the workaround.
Also, it seems broken to me as outgoing calls are making a loud static sound while incoming calls are fine.
Thanks.
