So my mom got a droid x brand new and best buy put a screen protector on, but they did it wrong so the phone made a red dotted line to show where a dirtspec/airbubble was so we went back they fixed it, but the red line wont go away, its super annoying, please help..

Sounds like a dead pixel, have them replace the phone because I've put 2 screen protectors on and pressed like hell with the included cardboard squeegee and haven't had any issues.

Yeah... The DX doesn't have a feature nor the hardware that will let it know that there is an issue with the screen being dirty. Take it back... and if they give you crap, raise some hell.

Thanx man good advise, verizon is preety damn mean when it comes to customer service y'know! Like really u can buy a brand new fone and then it breaks and its not your fault and they wont give you another new phone!

But how can it be a dead pixel if its like a digital red line running down the screen...?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
They could have broken a whole line of pixels when they put on the screen protector by putting too much pressure, but it could have been other causes... your screen seems to be broken...
Sent from my Liberated Droid X using XDA Premium App
But the line comes and goes but its always in the same place??
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I still think it's a broken screen... but one way to find out. Take a screenshot on your homescreen when the line is there, then post it here. Maybe a second opinion can be provided.
could be stuck pixels? check JscreenFix in the market.
Pulled some info from Wikipedia too,
If an LCD display is subjected to physical shock, this could cause one or more TAB connections to fail inside the display. This failure is often caused by horizontally flexing the chassis (e.g. while wall mounting or transporting a display face up/down) or simple failure of the adhesive holding the TAB against the glass. TAB faults require replacement of the LCD display module itself. If these connections were to fail, the effect would be that an entire row or column of pixels would fail to activate. This causes a horizontal or vertical black line to appear on the display while the rest of the display would appear normal. The horizontal failure runs from edge to edge; the vertical failure runs from top to bottom.
While your line is not black, maybe it is getting stuck on rather than off?
Either way, I'd probably have verizon replace it, would not be fun if you find some temporary fix that stops just after warranty is up.

Please, please, stop all these new threads about problem after problem.
My phone has the bent glass curve at the top but not the bottom, I have a screen with a major blue tint, it has about 4 or 5 little bands running across it, and the home button even freezes from time to time.
I'm not stressing. None of these issues really hinder me from using my phone. AND if they did, I wouldn't make a 2nd or 3rd thread about the issue when using the search button would bring up numerous results. Hell, when you create a new post now, XDA is nice enough to auto search for you.

Im here with ya....I returned it 4 times but im sticking with this one!
After all that trouble I will not go to a different phone =D

No problems here, I think the glass is supposed to "bend" at the top, it is concave after all.
mine is like a Boat!
sort of like a flat banana
it does seems to have been designed that way, else i'll imagine the glass to be flat, instead of concave
the case plastic shell of the phone is concave shape as well
Just noticed a stuck pixel on my tab. What is the best thing to do about it? Send it for repair?

trying jscreenfix now. so far no luck
bump still not fixed
A dead pixel is usually just that, dead. It affects a small percentage of lcds and the only real fix is to get a new screen. So either send it off to get a replacement screen fitted or a cheaper alternative is to replace it yourself.
Typically, defect of dead pixels (up to 5) is acceptable for a screen size of 7 inch, it is not subjected to manufacturer's warranty, same as for a laptop. It is under disclaimer notes. This is due to the properties of glass during manufacturing process.
I am not sure if Samsung will honour any wty claims on this?

If it's black, then it's probably dead and you can't fix it.
If it's a colour, then it's just stuck and (as you've tried) the jflasher app sometimes seems to work, you might need to leave it running for several hours though.
The early PSPs were terribly prone to stuck pixels, but they used very poor quality LCDs (hence the awful refresh rates), thankfully I've not had any recent devices (2 large TVs, tablet, phone etc) with any stuck pixels. I had an iMac for a while which had 3 stuck pixels, jflasher fixed one of them but the other 2 were stuck, one was about 2-inches to the right of dead centre and bright pink, so it was quite noticable.

No, its stuck. Have tried running jscreenfix with no luck. any other ideas or am i best calling tesco again? I have also tried a pixel massage (Worked on my laptop after i got it back from having a new screen fitted (Glossy instead of the original antiglare - WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!) with 5 stuck pixels)

Massage won't work on the tab, the glass is too thick.
Thought so.

I think I broke my screen, not by cracking the glass but by ruining the connection from the keyboard base to the screen. My phone fell from high up and the metal shield around the screen portion of the slider is looser but that's it. The phone boots still and the keyboard lights up and all the buttons respond. However the screen does not display anything. Do you think this is salvageable and if so where can I get individual parts for the shift so I can fix it myself? Thanks.

I guess it depends on how much you know about assembling phones...I'm sure you could find the parts on ebay or a like of..if not just send it to sprint for a refurb and say you dunno what happened..then if they try to charge you..own up and pay or play dumb and say it got damaged in transport or somethin..id go the route of sending to sprint..just cause I'm sure the parts are semi-expensive and the know how a little more than id like to learn

I'd take it to a Sprint store that can do repairs

I had a portion of my screen go out and took it in and they replaced some parts. It may be as simple as the cable slid out

I just got my woad in the mail today and I've only had one issue.
The bottom of the screen isn't very responsive.. and the unresponsiveness mostly happens
To the bpttom of the screen I was just wonering ifany1 else has experienced a problem like this.
Should I return it for a new one or stick with this one?
Btw this is fresh out the box so its still on 3.1 not sure if it will make
A difference though if its a hardware defect.
im having few problems with bottom left of the screen not being as responsive as the rest of the screen. This problem becomes obvious when i started using a drawing app to take notes and noticed on bottom left it would skip over little parts of the screen. i tried differnent apps and get this. before that i never noticed this and thos spots arent dead because if i use my thumb then it detects.
So I'm not alone then. I guess I'll ask new egg to send new another epad must be a manufacturer defect.

I've got a whole section of the x axis (in landscape) across the screen that is dead. Pretty ridiculous QC if you ask me. This device is *****ing as long as everything is functional hardware wise. Working on my fifth one here because of various defect. I'd like to kick someone's ass for this.

I got one and the whole top of the screen maybe about a half inch had the same problem. Returned it and the new one is fine.

So I noticed this when I bought my tablet and tried to disregard it but after 2 weeks its starting bother me. I'm pretty sure its a dead pixel and trying to decide if I should bring it back to office depot and ask for a new tablet. What do you guys think? I posted two pictures to show what I'm seeing. On the first picture, its right by the N in education. I know, probably seems picky but when I'm on a white page, its pretty noticeable.

Well, if it bothers you then you should return the tablet and get one that doesn't bother you, simple as that. I also have a stuck pixel on mine, but it doesn't bother me at all and thus I won't be returning mine.
a white pixel (stuck on) I would definitely return.
I have two miscolored pixels on mine that chose to not care about. It's common with TFT screens..
You can fix it........unless its a grey or a black dead pixel......massage it hard and try to move it towards the nearest side the effect is not instantaneous.......use an app called pixel fixer.....leave ur tab on charging while using that app......do both the methods and it would be gone in a week.....(worked for my phone)....

That's a horrible recommendation for an LCD that sits behind a gorilla glass touch screen. Unless you tell him to take the gorilla glass digitizer first he'll be risking breaking the digitizer before he ever gets close to the lcd!

Rubbing the screen doesn't work on devices with real glass displays, especially not gorilla glass. That method only works on displays where the glass is flexible or malleable (like computer lcd monitors or earlier/older phones).
To the OP:
If you're brave you COULD attempt some very gentle finger taps right above the area. I suggest trying to find a software fix though. If you try and try and it still sticks, then go ahead and return. I couldn't deal with that on my screen either.
Exchange it for another one NOW. You paid for it. You should have nothing less than a good screen with no stuck pixel.
Sorry to read this.
I'm the guy who's windshield and glasses are never clean enough, so a dead or wonky pixel would drive me nuts.
Thanks for the suggestions but I ended up just taking it back. Like a few of you said, I paid for it so I expect it all to work right. They took it back no questions asked. All is well in the new one
