Man that sucks to hear I know this has nothing to do with tab but I've noticed psp and even some tvs have a pixle fixed and all it does is flashes through the 3 basic colors rapidly and it normaly fixes it

Ok will try

trying jscreenfix now. so far no luck

bump still not fixed

A dead pixel is usually just that, dead. It affects a small percentage of lcds and the only real fix is to get a new screen. So either send it off to get a replacement screen fitted or a cheaper alternative is to replace it yourself.

Typically, defect of dead pixels (up to 5) is acceptable for a screen size of 7 inch, it is not subjected to manufacturer's warranty, same as for a laptop. It is under disclaimer notes. This is due to the properties of glass during manufacturing process.
I am not sure if Samsung will honour any wty claims on this?

If it's black, then it's probably dead and you can't fix it.
If it's a colour, then it's just stuck and (as you've tried) the jflasher app sometimes seems to work, you might need to leave it running for several hours though.
The early PSPs were terribly prone to stuck pixels, but they used very poor quality LCDs (hence the awful refresh rates), thankfully I've not had any recent devices (2 large TVs, tablet, phone etc) with any stuck pixels. I had an iMac for a while which had 3 stuck pixels, jflasher fixed one of them but the other 2 were stuck, one was about 2-inches to the right of dead centre and bright pink, so it was quite noticable.

No, its stuck. Have tried running jscreenfix with no luck. any other ideas or am i best calling tesco again? I have also tried a pixel massage (Worked on my laptop after i got it back from having a new screen fitted (Glossy instead of the original antiglare - WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!) with 5 stuck pixels)

Massage won't work on the tab, the glass is too thick.

Thought so.

Wow I never seen a dead pixel on a iphone last time I saw one was in my psps when I came out

Yes those are dead pixels and they will exchange the phone no problem, you have quite a few also. You should be happy with a new phone.

Those are actually stuck pixels, not really dead pixels, but since they don't change they're useless and could be considered "dead". But you should get your phone exchanged for a new one as pixel issues in this day and age of display technology should never be seen. I once bought an LCD monitor that had about 15 stuck pixels in about 6 groups of 2 or 3 pixels. The "policy" of the store was not to exchange monitors with less than 20. But I looked at a display model which was 100%, and then opened another box and insisted he check that one and it was 100% too, so I asked him why should I be stuck with a less than 100% monitor? He reluctantly exchanged it and I still have that monitor 5 years later and it's still 100%. Since then I've never had another display (TV, computer, cell) that was less than 100%, so I would complain if even a single pixel was dead/stuck.
For the record, my Nexus S is 100%. My wife's HTC Desire (nee mine) is still 100%, and my daughter's HTC Legend is also 100% still. Don't hesitate or let them bully you - get it exchanged ASAP.
The first thing I do when I get a new phone is check for dead pixels. I can live with a couple on a large monitor or TV, but not on a small screen like a cell phone.
This is a problem! Also, if it has this and it is new, chances are things will get worse along the lifespan of the device. Get it replaced asap.
I will get it replaced tomorrow, I hope they'll accept to exchange it...
Shocking! Think you may have broken a world record. With that amount of dead pixels they cannot argue.

Dead pixels on a samoled screen is not very common. One of the reasons I love the screens. However, I did have one on my last replacement Epic. LCD's like Evo's are more prone to dead pixels and they are pretty common. I had at least one or two in the couple I had.

Dead P!xels.

I ran the dead pixel test on my GT and found out that I have at least 5 dead pixels. You could barely see the majority of them, but I know they are there. What should I do? Exchange? Anyone else? Thanks.

you will drive yourself insane doing it, if you do swap it out just go on with life and never touch a dead pixel checker again it will literally kill you. for last few days i have not seen a single thing wrong with mine ran the check for ****s and giggles and now every time I open my screen i see the random one lil pixel hanging out in the corner screaming FUUUU at me.
Lol, true. I'll let u know what I do with this thing, 5 is A LOT.

back in the day when I had my fist gen touch I went through 9 before I got one with 2 dead pixels and apparently up to 5 dead pixels is acceptable to be sold to a consumer according to the apple support.
Wow. That's a lot of returns. Lol.

Returned my unlocked white one with 2 dead pixels...Didn't even see them at 1st but they stuck out during a video playback ...Got a grey one at staples with coupon....been looking and don't see any so far.
Nice. I hope I get lucky and get one with no dead pixels.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Don't see any here. I'd definitely exchange it. It's not a common problem with these displays.
I'm presuming that everyone here knows the difference between a dead and a stuck pixel. Because stuck pixels can be fixed. I've fixed a few on my 23" Samsung monitor and they never came back.

Dead pixel in screen?

So I noticed this when I bought my tablet and tried to disregard it but after 2 weeks its starting bother me. I'm pretty sure its a dead pixel and trying to decide if I should bring it back to office depot and ask for a new tablet. What do you guys think? I posted two pictures to show what I'm seeing. On the first picture, its right by the N in education. I know, probably seems picky but when I'm on a white page, its pretty noticeable.

Well, if it bothers you then you should return the tablet and get one that doesn't bother you, simple as that. I also have a stuck pixel on mine, but it doesn't bother me at all and thus I won't be returning mine.
a white pixel (stuck on) I would definitely return.
I have two miscolored pixels on mine that chose to not care about. It's common with TFT screens..
You can fix it........unless its a grey or a black dead pixel......massage it hard and try to move it towards the nearest side the effect is not instantaneous.......use an app called pixel fixer.....leave ur tab on charging while using that app......do both the methods and it would be gone in a week.....(worked for my phone)....

That's a horrible recommendation for an LCD that sits behind a gorilla glass touch screen. Unless you tell him to take the gorilla glass digitizer first he'll be risking breaking the digitizer before he ever gets close to the lcd!

Rubbing the screen doesn't work on devices with real glass displays, especially not gorilla glass. That method only works on displays where the glass is flexible or malleable (like computer lcd monitors or earlier/older phones).
To the OP:
If you're brave you COULD attempt some very gentle finger taps right above the area. I suggest trying to find a software fix though. If you try and try and it still sticks, then go ahead and return. I couldn't deal with that on my screen either.
Exchange it for another one NOW. You paid for it. You should have nothing less than a good screen with no stuck pixel.
Sorry to read this.
I'm the guy who's windshield and glasses are never clean enough, so a dead or wonky pixel would drive me nuts.
Thanks for the suggestions but I ended up just taking it back. Like a few of you said, I paid for it so I expect it all to work right. They took it back no questions asked. All is well in the new one

Dead pixels?

Hi guys,
how many of you are you having troubles with dead pixels? I already returned my 7.7 two times (!) -two times a dead red (sub)pixel. The new one it arrived just now with a green dead pixel ;(
I don't know if i even dare to ask for a new one.
Could someone give me a reliable source? I'm sick of returning it over and over again.

Is it dead or stuck? If it is dead it will not light up. If it is stuck it stays on. If it is just stuck you can google video files that will attempt to unstick pixels.
me too, 1 red pix.

Mine has no dead pixel, but there is a tiny dust between its front panel and OLED.
It looks like a dead pixel
Since I got from HK reseller, it's too hard to send back and exchange it.
Besides, I doubt they allow exchange for this case.
mine has one in the left bottom corner. I only notice if after I install honeybar. (the menu bar hide it pretty well; in portrait or landscape)
i got a red dead pixel also.. worse thing is i cant return it because i bought it at hongkong and i'm already at the Philippines even though its still can be replace because today is only the 4th day...

Has anyone got a unit without dead pixels? O.o

I love the phone, but I'm onto my fourth replacement now because they've all had dead pixels. If this next one is still faulty I'll likely give up and settle for it, but I'm very surprised - I've not had this problem with any other manufacturer and it's weird that HTC has this issue.

On my first phone as well. Battery life sucks but screen's pretty good. No dead pixels even though my old GS2 is just as bright.

I went through 3 Dev editions. I got tired of playing this game and cancelled my entire order. Getting a black one from ATT on friday, lets see how this goes. Worst case scenario I take it to a store and they give me one right on the spot. (or get it in from somewhere).
Tested with some app I forget but all good- dev ed.

really don't understand the whole battery life thing, this is the longest last phone I'VE EVER HAD, i've come straight from a sensation where i was charging twice as often as this. I thought it had crashed the other day, every time i checked the phone it said 30%...... for hourrrs.... had to reboot just to check, 30% still lol
I'm on my second One, not a single dead pixel on either. Two completely different screens though.
No dead pixels here m8

I haven't done any tests or anything, but I haven't seen any dead or stuck pixels.

I don't have any dead pixels either. I'm on my second one, neither had dead pixels. Only exchanged due to a weird light coming from the top of the screen, speaker crackling, heavier than usual and a gap in the screen.
My ATT store said they got a new shipment, went in and exchanged and my new One is perfect. =)

I guess I'm just incredibly unlukcy! I envy you all
Maybe it's a faulty batch in the UK.. After the first 2 faulty ones, I started checking for them on purpose using an app. Oh well, hopefully my next replacement is perfect. I really want to start using this phone.
