Hi,
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this issue so here goes.
I regularly connect my Desire Z to my PC in Internet Pass-through to get data for updating apps and Navdroid map updates.
No problem connecting and the data throughput is great.
However, once I have disconnected the phone from the PC I have lost 3G/HSPD connectivity. The only way to get these back is to restart the phone.
I have tried turning on Airplane mode, and then turning it off - no success.
I also tried turning off data and then turning it back on - no success there either.
Is this a known issue or has anyone else come across it. Anyone found a solution if they have, bar restarting the phone that is.. ?
Thanks,
Des. . . ; )
Yeh this also happens to me, though only sometimes. Unfortunately, all I've been able to figure out in terms of fixing it is just restarting.
Data connection is not the only thing that glitches for me with internet pass through, sometimes the other types of USB connection stop working as well (e.g. the phone will not be seen by my windows machine when put into removable drive mode after being in internet pass through) until I restart. Essentially, even though internet pass through does not always cause problems I always restart after using it since it seems to be good at glitching other things out and probably messes up things I don't even notice at first.
This has happened to me several times...
What I noticed is that whenever I disconnect the phone while it is in Internet Pass-Through mode, I couldn't get my mobile data connection to work afterwards..
So before disconnecting, maybe you can try changing your USB connection mode, say, to Charge Only. When disconnecting from that mode, mobile data works.. at least in my experience..
Hi,
Might be worth a try, that. Czechton can you try and see what sort of results you get?
Thanks,
Des. . .
I will second that - this problem occured for me everytime I connected the phone in the "internet pass through mode" - I also noticed (although I did not keep track to check if this solves the problem EVERY time) that if I change to the "charge only"
mode and then disconnect - I get back my mobile data connectivity back

Hi folks,
I have noticed an irritating, intermittent connection problem with a couple of XDA phones I've had. Specifically, I now have an HTC Touch Pro, and most of the time the internet works fine. Sometimes though, when I try to connect, nothing happens for a very long time, and eventually an 'unable to connect' message is displayed. Usually, I use Opera 9.5, which was pre-installed. But the problem also exists if I use the standard IE and also with Skyfire too. The message is different depending on which browser I'm using of course. But if one won't connect, none of them will, so I don't think it's a problem with one of those browsers. I should point out that when the browsers do connect, they stay connected. this problem only occurs when I open the browser and it tries to connect. I did have the same problem on my previous XDA device - O2 XDA Trion. I have found that if I perform a soft-reset, the internet will then start up nice and quickly on the first attempt, which I'm guessing suggests it isn't a network problem. Does anyone else have this experience? Does anyone know what might be causing it? Of all the pieces of software I've installed, there are few, if any, that I've had installed on both devices, other than the programs which are preinstalled. The only commonality between my previous device and my current one is the OS and the SIM card.
Are you speaking about your HTC PRO Wifi connnection or the EDGE/GPRS/HSDPA connection?
I also have issues with the data line not being connected or running the way you would think. I then pop over to wifi and all is good. I normally just turn off the data connection and reconnect.
Also, do you keep the connection permanently on data mode or do you let the phone log on for you?
My theory (this happens to me sometimes too) is that my phone connects to the tower and then gets timed out because of no data activity. The phone doesn't figure it out and simply shows a connection still. Then when you try to get data the phone is confused as to why the digital connection it thought it had was no longer active.
Props to me for making up **** and having it sound 2Legit2Quit.
I am talking about my EDGE/GPRS/HSDPA connection, and, now you mention it, yes, I think wi-fi works when EDGE/GPRS/HSDPA is not working. I'm not sure about that though. I'll have a go when it happens again. Which it will, very soon, because it happens all the time. It's annoying.
Thanks for your ideas!
PS: I didn't respond to your question about data mode. I'm not really too sure what you mean by that. I didn't know there was a data mode! In the Touchflo3D settings, under communication, there is a switch labelled 'Data connection. Turn off data connection.' But if I do turn that off, it just turns it straight back on again. I'm not sure that's what you meant though.
Has anyone seen this problem?
My HD2 disables the PC's WiFi each time I sync.
When I take the cable out of the HD2 the PC's WiFi network will go down and I have to go into device manager and re-enable the WiFi network card, sometimes even this won't work and I have to reboot the PC.
It also very often happens when I connect the cable but usually a troubleshooting of the network problems will restart the WiFi and fix without rebooting.
The thing is that my TyTN II works perfectly and always has, it is only the HD2 that I have the problems with.
I have tried several HD2 ROMs and I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate on my PC.
I did a search of the forums, (not easy when you can only do one search each 30 seconds) but could not find anything, searches for 'disabled pc wifi' only bring up the good old connecting to router problems.
Any ideas anyone?

I'm having the same exact issue. It's driving me crazy. Every time I plug my HD2 to the computer, my wireless internet goes down. Anyone know what's going on?
I've kind of fixed mine. I tried different USB ports which re-installed the drivers each time. One of the ports at the back of my PC seems to be fairly stable although I do still lose WiFi occasionally but it's tolerable.

A little more digging and I've found these two threads, which were helpful.

i managed to setup usb tethering on my desktop.
but one problem remains.
when first set up it works good.
but then after some inactivity time the connection gets lost.
like typing a long(5-10) minute responce on the forums usuallydoesnt go through... kinda frustrating.
and then after i unplug the phone the internet connection doesnt work anymore.
it shows tethering plugged in on the phone.
the network connection shows up but it says disabled. and when i try to enable it manually it doesnt do anything but slow down my PC.
i unplug and plug it back in many times with no result
the only way to work around it is to restart my PC which is kinda pain in the ass.
bump anyone can help?
would still like some help.
whats the proper way to disconnect the phone from PC while tethering?
Hi all, as noted in subject, occasionally I am connected to WiFi but I get no active connection (nothing comes in or goes out). The only way I remedy this is disabling/enabling WiFi and as this is a small annoyance, any reason this happens? I have an RT-66U router as well, if it matters.
Thanks and happy holidays.
Nobody?
Hi
could you solve it already?
if not, switch location settings to GPS ONLY.
good luck

Yeah I'm having the same problem except even when disabling/enabling wifi, I can't get a reliable active connection. It's only when I turn on airplane mode and off and reconnect. Then will I get a reliable internet connection. I'm not sure what's going on. The strangest thing is this problem occurred over time. First month, no problem. 2nd months, occasionally. now, into the 3rd, it's on a daily basis. My previous Verizon Note 2 also had this issue but then seemingly disappeared, only to rear it's ugly head a few months down the road.
Here's a post on reddit with others having the same issue: http://www.reddit.com/r/galaxynote4/comments/2ks0ap/note_4_wifi_issue/
Not sure if a custom rom would solve it. For now I'm just using my 4G connection as I have the unlimited plan.
turn smart switch off and see if it helps. does it get an ip address ?
Have you rebooted the router? Unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it in again. My router does this every now and then.
Also try rebooting your phone.
If neither one of those work, then you can try factory resetting your phone as a last resort. After that, if it's still not working then either your phone or router is busted.
Hi, I have got a very strange issue, I have data and wifi connected but cannot connect to the internet with either, if it was just one or the other but with both data and wifi, I have tried many 'fixes' but nothing works, I restart the phone and both work fine for a while but after I wake the phone from standby neither work again... maybe this is a clue any ideas? thanks
What does not work? Is there only a particular app that doesn't work over either one of them?
Did you ever use a VPN for this phone?
Also, do a factory reset and see if getting back to the original settings it will work.
