Hello, I have a droidx and am finally tired of the locked bootloader. I was thinking of getting the dinc but wanted to get some peoples input first about the dinc.

This is the best phone I've ever had and it's super easy to root. My only issue after having it for almost a year is the screen has started feeling to small to me. I wish it had a 4 inch screen. Other than that and the terrible battery life with the stock battery it is an amazing phone.
Here's a thread with a rather similar topic with some very good points made in it:

Thanx guys, after reading the stuff from the link I think im gonna get the dinc for now until I qualify for an upgrade : )

I was debating between Inc, DX and Fascinate when it came time to upgrade for me... I'm soooooo glad I went with the incredible. I knew it would be a gamble with the DX and its locked bootloader and the fascinate was still a new entity at this point and I wasn't sure if the homebrew scene would explode like it had for the evo/incredible. In the end my reservations proved correct; the droid x never got fully unlocked and the fascinate scene never took off.
Make the switch. You'll love the vast selection of roms and kernels and what-have-yous. As mentioned battery life is behind other devices, which is why I highly recommend the 1500mah Evo battery (fits in our case just barely) as well as the 2150mah incredible battery (comes with a bigger backplate, adds bulk but is widely accepted as worth it). Both are OEM, not third party. I have both and alternate between the two, charging the one I'm not using on a seidio external battery charger (the inc also has some charging issues, this circumvents that). I'm unsure if the latest kernels have solved the charging issues, but it is highly possible.

The Dinc is awesome. Highly recommend it.
i just made the same switch. i had a few great roms on the Droid X including Liberty, but i hated the random reboots and freezes that plagued me even with the stock rom. i think the droid incredible is one of the best androids out there. i've got a Sense 2.0 rom, with a white battery cover and a 1500 mah battery. great combo. good luck!
My dad actually has a droid x, while I have the incredible. I was trying to help him with getting a custom kernel but found there are none at all for the droid x, and only 2-3 ROM's. Pretty big letdown considering the incredible currently has about 10 different kernels and over 40 or so ROM's.
The new kernel and ROM's gotten from here has hugely helped in terms of performance and battery life, so although droid x is rated to have a battery that lasts longer, my incredible passes up my dad's phone by hours- even with more use out of it. Motorolla Blur is a big slowdown on his phone too, still trying to help him out with getting the bloat off his phone- but the community is considerably smaller than the incredible's.
thanx for all the replies guys I'm deffinately going to switch asap so hopefully I can find one for cheap bc I don't qualify for an upgrade yet : /

I just made the switch, and am very happy. Although check out both the AMOLED screen and the SLCD. I couldn't use the AMOLED because of the pen-tile matrix that made it look horrible coming from the X which had a great screen.
You might want to try no find someone on craigslist who wanted to trade. Thats what I did, and it worked out great.
LOVE IT!

I disagree, yu don't notice the screen size and the battery life is NOT bad at all if you know how to use the phone this is not good advice IMHO.

I have the dinc as my work phone and I have to say I love it. super fast, easy to carry and fun to use. the other phone I have is an EVO and it has it's pros too i tend to favor the Incredible. just my 2 cents
I'm considering the Thunderbolt.. which is the same size screen as the X.. is it too big? I hate the X it seems too big I'm afraid I'll feel the same about the TBolt

I wish I had the choice between AMOLED and SLCD when I got mine. I feel that for my uses the SLCD is superior, but I've learned to appreciate what the AMOLED has to offer. For instance, the biggest flaw of the AMOLED (pentile) can also be a boon of sorts. Because of it's interlacing effect, old school roms like SNES games look far better on AMOLED screens due to their similarities with old tube televisions which hid much of the jagginess/low resolution artifacts. So amoled screens generally make older games look great since they blur the edges and hide the low res imperfections, just like our 1992 CRT televisions did. And that's not even mentioning the vibrant color reproduction enhancing the image further.
However, Samsung solved the AMOLED issue. They just revealed their new pixel arrangement for new SAMOLED screens which has the crystal clear effect of an LCD screen along with the vibrant colors we're used to. Still, I feel glad I own one of these legacy AMOLEDs for the reasons stated above.
The general rule of thumb (IMO) is if you do lots of web surfing/text reading, SLCD is superior. Current gen amoleds only excel in the games/media department.

I also did not get the X because of it being rather large. The incredible was more compact and that was initially why I went with it.
You may want to think again before getting the T-Bolt:
http://androidcommunity.com/htc-thu...ored-to-be-due-to-poor-battery-life-20110228/
If it's going to get worse battery life than the incredible, there's no way I would ever consider buying it.
i exchanged my DInc for an X thinking it would be better. wrong. 3 days later i was back on my Dinc. best phone i have ever had. the X was just too awkward for me to hold.
1800mah batt, white batery door, root and whatever ROM i feel like today= 1 very satisfied DInc owner.

My opinion, but the DInc blows the DX away as far as screen quality. Small pixels / white on black text caused the display to flicker the words. It was incredibly annoying.
I totally agree, Love my Dinc but the battery sucks. Easy to Root.
I bought my wife the X and I am not very impressed with it.
You might wait a few weeks and get the new Thunderbolt.
So this is my plan, im going to get a dinc for now unil I qualify for an upgrade in a year. Once I get the upgrade ill upgrade to something more spectacular at that point if I choose

My sister is looking at a new phone. She wanted the iphone 4 but with the data plan change she is not sure if she wants to deal with it.
She was talking about switching companies with me, and as long as i can get my unlimited data plan then i'm switching to verizon.
She wants something good, doesn't know which phone though.
both have 1ghz processors and android.
Can't find ram specs on the droid x but i know it's 512mb on the htc.
Anyone have a good comparison and what do you guys thing. I just haven't been in the cell phone scene for almost a year. I am getting ready for a new phone in oct/nov so i am getting into it now.
If you're not doing it for a few months yet, then just wait for a better phone. The Samsung Galaxy S (instantly rootable, and fully open bootloader) is the best phone that is about to come out if you like to have root. The Droid X won't have root for 4+ months according to Birdman, and the bootloader may never be cracked. A real **** move by Motorola.
re
I was all set on the moto Droid x, but now...
The Samsung Fascinate is looking really freaking good.
In the side by side reviews that i have seen, the samsung has the best screen that i have ever seen. Plus its rootable, plus it has a faster humming bird 1ghz processor, the same clock speed but in test it shows to be much faster overall.

I don't know about that? Where are these tests? I was under the impression they are very comparable in speed. I personally like Moto's build quality... even if I can't reflash it. The Fascinate looks like the case is plastic, which just isn't as good as a full metal case.
Between the Droid X and the Droid Incredible, I must say the Droid X, its a powerhouse...
This is for my sister. if it was me, the samsung coming out looks amazing but I am not getting android. Sorry.
She will never do anything for the bootloading or rootable options. She is not into the phone stuff like i am, and wouldn't be able to do it from her technical knowlege. And she is looking right now, can't wait at all, so samsung is out of the question at the moment.
Any other advice would be great. thanks to all that have posted already.
For a girl, the Droid Incredible or wait for the Samsung Fascinate.
Yep. See how she likes the Droid X in the hand first... just drive to a Verizon store and compare the two phones. There's also the problem of the Incredible's availability, but Sense wi definitely be more friendly than Ninjablur for the average user.
I have both and the droid x if far. Better. The incredible battery life sucks. I been using droid x for 11 hours and it still at 23% on the battery. That is with heavy use.

Now with root it will happen with the X and it will be amazing

Motorola chargers, I wish we could get a universal charging synching option from the industry. Why is it that the USB cord that works perfectly for every other device I have owned will charge and sync but not with Droid X. I just hate the length of the stock cord.

Are u sure that u had a DI prior to this phone? When i went into adb yesterday to gain root on my X (thanks Birdman!), I used the usb cord that came with my DI. In fact, that DI cord is the only cord I've used to charge and transfer files with on my X.
I have found the X's battery to be a solid improvement over the DI; however, it is still rather easy to drain a full battery over the course of the day. I think it's important to remember that people tend to go through signifcantly higher amounts of data when they get a new toy to play with. Even then, I would say that the X's battery life is slightly better than the HTC 2150 mah extended battery that I bought for my DI.
One area that I've found that the X shines is graphics processing. For example, Need for Speed Shift on the X is by far the the most complete, satisfying gaming experience that I've had on a mobile phone (I dont know what Apple is going to do when even games are superior on the android platform).
While not everyone digs the size of the X, I absolutely adore the large screen. The keyboard on the X is the best I've used on a smartphone, and having the ability to switch to Swype is sweet. And for a movie buff like myself, it is sooo nice to be able to transfer movies from my laptop to my X without first having to convert them
Basically, I am really digging the X. However, the DI is a damn nice phone as well. I personally prefer Sense to Blur, and the DI is extremely polished. Being able to DL custom Roms is invaluable. And although it's completely Motorola's prerogative to design their phone as they wish, there's something about efuse and the encrypted bootloader that chaps my hide.
I had pretty much decided to return my X and go back to my DI, until Birdman gained root access to the x yesterday. Having wireless tether, Titanium, shell access, etc. are hugely important to me. However, i am still not sure if this is enough to compensate for the inability to flash ROMs. Damn, why does the X have to have that damn bootloader?
inc is better. ive played with the x numerous times, but i never wanted to switch. its just not the same. the dinc is one of a kind.

actually, just for the record. the droid x doesn't have a full metal case.. just the battery door is metal.. much like the Samsung captivate on at&t. but as far as i know you are correct about the Samsung fascinate being "all" plastic. but to put in my two cents. switching from the Dinc to the DX. i am very unsatisfied with the DX slow and laggy UI and the screen looks good and big and clear.. but the colors suck and the contrast ratio is terrible. one of my biggest issues with screens, that of tv, phone, monitor, etc., is being able to see the back light shining through..of which my DX does. So i will be switching to the Galaxy S for that S-AMOLED. but thats just my opinion.
P.S. The Droid X is a really great phone. Just not for me.
The incredible over saturates the colors by over 30 percent. The Droid X is only off by like 6%.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Cant decide which one to get. vote and Post why you chose the one you chose.
the only reason why i am leaning towards the fascinate is no locked boot loader and fast GPU for games and it seems more smooth and snappy. but i dunno if those are real issues....
on this forum, it looks like the droid X is only slightly more popular.

my bigest concern is that no 2.2 means no official flash support. and since it recieved an maintanance update recently its not coming for a bit (otherwise they'd role it all into one). that and i hate bing. following birdman's tweets... there seems to be a lot of odd things with the root folder structure as well.
its all personal preferance, i look at the fascinate more as a toy.

im kinda out of the loop right now. whats the story with the droid x and 2.2? that is somewhat of a big deal.
IMO, all the X has over the Fascinate is:
a lot heavier (5.47oz vs 4.1oz),
slightly larger (127x66x10.2mm vs 125x64x10.5mm),
bigger screen (4.3" vs 4.0"),
bigger camera lens (8mp vs 5mp).
*better reception*
And, oh yeah, Froyo!
Latest word from Samsung, Fascinate will have Froyo "by the end of the year." I prefer a 4" SAmoled to 4.3" LCD and I've read the Samsung takes better pictures even with the smaller lens, So I'm leaning Fascinate as well. But NOT impressed with Samsung's support.
I have a vibrant running a leaked TMo froyo, and I've played with the DX, everyone is different but I much prefer the Galaxy. Screen, feel, non-blur, really good developers, super easy to root/customize and the phone has some millions... lots of support.
I just went through 3 replacements in 7 days. I like the hackabliity of the Fascinate and the screen is gorgeous but its too thin and between TouchWiz being stock and Samsung still not having Froyo out on the eve of Gingerbread I'm not impressed. I have a Droid X on the way and couldn't be happier. Motorola has the best reception and data speed IMO. As long as I have root and WiFi Tether I'm fine. Someone will crack the bootloader eventually. The devs here are amazing.
I should add "Better reception" to my above post, that is a significant plus for the Droid X. Thanks for that, Jeffnucci. However, if you think the Fascinate is too thin you are going to be disappointed to learn the Droid X is actually thinner. Thinner and heavier may mean more fragile due to increased momentum from a 3' fall.
I think the bootloader on the Droid X is like 2.2 on the Fascinate - just don't have it yet but won't be a significant difference in several months. When they are running the same software, it's just the differences in hardware that will matter.

The X is heavier though is it not? Thin and light gives me the feeling of cheapness in my hands. The X feels like it has a nice heft to it.
I played with the fascinate a bit and did not really like the feel of it. I like the fact that the DX is made of metal and has a larger screen. IMO AMOLED screens suck in bright sunlight. Almost unusable in my experience. I have owned samsung phones in the past and my experience with samsung support is sub par. Combine the DX with the Fission Rom and that equals awesomeness...lol

Fission is a vanilla android experience. It's blazing fast and doesn't have blur crap. It's a brand new phone I'm holding in my hands.
Yes it is really fast. They have worked out most if not all of the bugs and will have an official release on monday. The speed, amount of ram, and battery consumption are just a few reason to use it.

Agreed. I just got my X and it is the best phone I've had yet. I've owned an iPhone 4, a BlackBerry Torch, a Fascinate, a Droid, etc. This is fast, it feels good in my hands, it looks nice, I love it.
I had an incredible (rooted). Sweat got behind the screen so my local verizon store gave me the option of another inc or the facinate. I took the facinate. Voice quality sucks, signal sucks but the screen is unbelievable. Due to reception issues I can swap for an X but after comparing screens I just can't pull the trigger. The X's screen colors seem very washed... Is this normal or is there a fix?

I love the form factor and the samoled screen on the fascinate but I wasn't comfortable going with that phone due to the wonky GPS. I don't use the GPS that often but when I do I need it to work.

The X isn't washed out, the Fascinate is just massively oversaturated. Just the nature of OLED displays. A day of not using one and you'll realize the X in fact has a very lovely screen. And technically very close to color correct.
I do love my X, but I have grown a little tired of the size and form factor. I am a little worried I might be disappointed with the battery life and a possible resale value on the INC if I do make the switch.
Anyone had a good experience going to the INC form the X?
I haven't had an X myself but I don't know why you should be concerned about resale value..you're using the phone.
The form factor of the DX sucks IMO, it's bulky and ugly.
The Incredible's screen is much nicer quality too, even the SLCD version. When comparing the screen sizes it's like quantity vs. quality.
If you're into custom ROMs and such, the INC is a great phone.

Hrmm I wonder why that is. I have been trying to look at what people are selling these for in the forums.
I had the x and switched to the dinc. HTC does a way better job with Android if you ask me. The community does much better with HTC devices as well. Sense is a must have for me as well.
Even though the evo sold mass amount of phones, I think its too big. I the x was just as big and drove me crazy. I like the size of the dinc. With the evos 1500 mAh battery in my dinc, I can last all day no problem.

I had an X and returned it for an Incredible. Part of the reason was because the Incredible was free and the X had cost me $200. That said, the Incredible feels faster, even with slightly slower hardware, thanks to HTC's superior software. Motorola's software package is pretty terrible.
I made that switch. The battery life is definitely worse on the incredible. I missed the big screen at first. Made the incredible seem extra small coming from the X. I have an slcd incredible and even that screen seems to have much more contrast than the Droid x. I like running cyanogenmod and custom kernels so im enjoying the incredible.

X might be a nice phone but with a locked bootloader that's harder to get in than Fort knox...no thanks I will stick with my Incredible
I went from an Incredible to an X back to the Incredible
The X had nothing but issues, and screen wasn't nearly as gorgeous as the AMOLED one.
The Sense UI is the best UI you can get for Android, in my opinion hands down the best.
The hardware of the Incredible feels faster too like another poster said, on the X my friend and I were in a parking garage waiting to get a GPS signal, i pulled my Incredible out and mine found our location when the X was still looking for 10 more mins.
The X is also too tall, it doesn't use the right screen ratio like the EVO and ThunderBolt will.
The developer community is the best on EVO/Incredible vs Droid 1/2/X
and I also develop themes for Incredible which i'll be moving on to ThunderBolt
I just got an inc keeping my x to try this out. Only two things so far I don't like:
-can see the touchscreen sensors on a white background(emails or web usually)
-touch screen isn't quite as accurate as the x
-there was a hair under the glass screen. Looks like the screen isn't that tight around the body. Compressed air blew it right out though.
On a positive sense KILLS blur! The overall feel is great, better widgets, comfortable formfactor.
I had an X until 2 weeks ago. I miss it... The screen size is enough for me to be trying to get it back. I have BIG hands and I could fly texting on my X but on this, Im hitting backspace more than any other key, even with auto correct. The reason I traded was to be able to customize more which is definitely better. Another issue is with games. The Inc is slow to respond and it glitches and pauses all the time playing homerun battle 3d. The X NEVER did that. I don't know, they both have their positives and negatives but my hands alone are the reason I'm trying to trade back to an X. BUT I will come back to HTC when the Thunderbolt comes out. NO DOUBT, cause sense destroys blur. always had to use Luancherpro on the X but never on the Inc because of the custom roms...

What do you mean by the touch screen isn't as accurate? My friend and my cousin both have the X, my brother has the Fascinate, and I have the Incredible. I've used all 3 phones extensively and in my experience, the X has the least responsive touch screen of all. Do you mean accuracy as in trying to click on small links on web pages or something? If that's the case it might just be because the screen is smaller; if you're having trouble you could try highlighting the link or button that you want to click with the trackpad.
re x
i have the droid incredible and i bought the droid x on the week it came out.
Immiatlely i was dissappointed at the same time some things were great.
The low audio on the navigation even with the windows up made it unusable with turn by turn directions... im sure they fixed this.
The ****ty Moto UI = **** sammitch.
The below average quality of the lcd, it looked washed out and bland compared to my incredible.
The large 4.3 inch screen was awesome to surf on.
it was thin for a large phone.
It was new.
I have had many phones in the past and none of them gave me the same kind of user experience as HTC and sadly the iphone.
If i was technically retarded and was an old woman i would have kept my iphone..
But nobody besides HTC has made a better phone AND UI...
Samsung UI = **** , hardware = ok, software updates = ****
Motorola UI = **** see above
LG = **** **** and more ****
Sony = erickson = ****
nokia = failing ball of **** sammitch.. check their stocks.
Blackberry = corporate fail, good comm device.. everything else is 10 years behind.
iphone = boring plus your instantly enrolled in a group of 10 year olds and wanna be tech folks ... and mothers...any phone an old woman is comfortable using is a phone i do not want.
Well I had to trade the INC back because there was dust collecting under the screen. I am absolutely in LOVE with the phone compared to the X. But the big question I can't decide on now is:
Do I sell my X and go buy an INC retail so I at least have a 1 year warranty on it or buy one used and hope for the best (buying a new one would probably cost me 230 or so).

Yeah games was the only thing, but I haven't played one game on my X except for paper toss. Not such a big deal to me.
I started on an X... rooted it, ROMed it (to the extent that it can be, anyway), and tried to be patient while the devs cracked the boot...and got tired of waiting. I traded it to a friend straight up for an AMOLED DInc after 3 months, and seriously, there's no comparison. I love the freedom to load CM, or Ruby, or SkyRaider on my phone. I love the ability to remap the soft keys on my HTC or use QuickDesk or PowerStrip (neither of them can be done on the X due to the locking down of the hard keys by Moto).
The only two things that I miss about the X are the bigger screen, which I really liked, and the fact that Moto's build quality is very good (it always has been), but that is it. I'll never buy another motorola product ever again unless I hear that it is open- and not because I'm some sort of super-dev, either- simply because I get better support from the dev community whose ROMs I run when I have a problem than I've ever gotten from Moto or Verizon.
The X had pretty impressive specs, but it was absolutely weighted down under Blur... SOOOO slow. I didn't even realize how slow it was until I rooted and ROMed it using rubiX, which is truly an awesome ROM considering how locked the X is, but even then it really had a lot of stupid issues (random rebooting, etc.). Then once I found out that I couldn't connect to the 802.1x wifi at my school (a known motorola issue which STILL has yet to be fixed on the DX and D2), it was over.
I've gone DInc and never regretted it.
As far as the screen, I really think that SLCD vs. AMOLED is personal preference. The colors on AMOLED are suuuuper saturated, very "thick" looking to my eyes. I don't mind SLCD screen colors or look at all, but they're definitely toned down compared to AMOLED.
What about the processor speed? Well, both of them have 1gHz processors, and with the current battery technology we have right now, I really wouldn't want much more than a that- anything faster just eats battery, really. I get some lulz from all the spec queens out there who OC their phones to 1.5 and higher, and who have to have the latest dual-core processors- they're going to spend their whole lives plugged in to the wall cuz their batteries won't last 6 hours, and then complain about bad battery life. My 1gHz snapdragon loads pages, flash, and videos from the web with no problem. I've seen the AnandTech reviews about the DX's processor being slightly faster than the DInc's, but then you have to consider Blur and (REALLY) crappy Moto software and bloat (VZW navigator, Visual Voicemail, City ID, etc.) slowing everything down again. My CM7 / ADW EX DInc is hella snappy, and I get through almost 36 hours per charge (HTC Imagio 1700mAh battery) with frequent use. No OC/UCing, totally stock.
I AM looking forward to LTE tho. That should be a real improvement. Anyway, I'm off the soapbox. Hope this helped? I dunno. I'm sittin here drinkin coffee and saw this thread. Good luck.

Well, I thought I would get the T-Bolt on launch day because the Incredible needed an upgrade. Well, if you're undecided, I thought I would give my take on it.
Like the Incredible, I was the only person in-line on launch day looking to buy it. The upgrade was fairly seamless until I noticed that the VZ sales rep scratched the piss out of the top and side of the phone. Basically, I said that I don't want to be a jerk, but you scratched the piss out of my phone and I want a new one. After a small debate with the manager, I got my second T-Bolt just minutes after launch day opening.. LOL, really lol.
Anyway, here is what I noticed...
- It's heavy, really heavy. The Incredible is a great weight, the T-Bolt was border-line hand strain.
- To me the screen looked faded and not as vibrant. The T-Bolt was sharp, just not quite like my AMOLED Incredible.
- 4.3" screen is large. My hands are considered a standard mans size and typing with one hand was hell. My thumb was just not long enough to reach the opposite side of the screen for typing. Two-handed is fine and quick thanks to the screen size.
- Battery.. With only a few texts and a couple calls my battery was in the 30% range by lunch. I unplugged it around 6am. The forums were telling users to disable the 4G.. Really? What is the point of this phone then..
- Sound. It's bad. Notifications and ring tones distort bad. I would decrease the volume, but it's hard to hear the sounds the way the phone sits. The kick stand in front of the speaker was a bad idea.
- Bloatware. Plenty of that on this phone. Just like most stock HTC phones. Anyway, rooting and Titanium Backup takes care of all the crap apps.
- Speed. It's quick, sense runs fast and launcher pro ran fast as well. But, the Incredible runs fast enough for me. Running Quadrant and Smartbench gave somewhat similar results on the phones. The graphics were quite a bit faster on the T-Bolt according to smartbench.
Anyway, I think the T-Bolt is a good entry 4G Verizon phone. Personally, I am partial to sub 4" phones. I am going to wait till something a little more refined comes along (4g wise). The DInc is still an awesome phone and still has plenty of life left for me.
BTW, the T-Bolt also has a front facing camera. I was stoked about that, too bad it was mostly useless until a good app is out for it.
Thanks, useful.

Thank you for that review.. good to know the DINC can still hold its own.. my upgrade is next January and maybe we'll see a DINC sized 4G phone by then.
I too am happy with the size of my Dinc ;o)

Hey, thanks for your review. If HTC releases a 4" phone with the Evo 3D's specs, I would be all over that in a heartbeat!
Edit: Minus the 3D (I hope that this 3D fad dies a quick death). 3D r&d money should be spent on battery technology.
Appreciate the info. I'll be keeping my DInc! With Incredibly Reengineered ROM it's as fast as ever with GREAT battery life.

Thanks for taking the time to give us your take on the TB.
About the battery, just remember with any new battery you need to condition it (Fully charge than discharge about 10 times) before you get good chunks of battery life.
I just love the optical trackpad on the Inc, and this is going to make it hard to leave. Unfortunately no new phones have any pointing device besides a full touch screen, and I don't know about you guys but I find it very hard to move the cursor or select text without the trackpad.
I got rid of my iPhone 4 and got the incredible. That's s whole different topic, but it was worth it. Thank you for your comparison!

Well I grabbed the t-bolt really so i can lock in my free unlimited 4G contract and continue to pay 78 dollars a month so thats 4g for the 3g price grandfathered in saving 480+ dollars over the next 2 years more than the price of the 249 on contract price
i swap nice clean refurbs all the time with verizon so a better phone is still in the cards for me just wont be brand new...but with the past refurbs i have gotten i really couldn't tell the difference

My exact feelings right now. Also without the 3D... The Incredible S(2) is said to have a 4" screen and front facing camera. And better battery.
DINC
MIUI
I would get the Thunderbolt, but honestly it didn't impress me that much. Droid Bionic looks better. As for screen size I'm switching between inc and droid X. Inc's screen is too small, but Droid X's isn't as nice. Games run 1,000 x better on droid X. So really the fascinate seemed to be the phone for me... Until the sluggish nature of it came out... So really I need a super amoled Droid X lol. Bionic's resolution may push me over we will have to see... Also I think the Incredible S may be a 4"er will have to see..

I went by on Friday to take a look at the Thunderbolt. I wasn't really impressed because it didn't look like it had the HTC Hub with the navigation. There were just not too many features that would make me want to go out and get rid of my Incredible.
I am at almost a year with my Inc. Personally I agree with the OP. The Thunderbolt is too big for my taste...and sadly the bigger phones seems to be the trend. Hardware is a marginal step forward.
Cant wait for 4g to reach fresno ca but i will not be getting a tbolt

No, you don't. If it was a NiCad then that would be something you would need to do but a lithium battery has no "memory." In fact, a full discharge hurts the battery more than helps. These batteries like to stay charged.

I'm here doing research on my wife's Dinc, I have the Fascinate & just want to add that the lag of the Samsung rfs file system is a thing of the past if you root. Once rooted you can load a debloated, custom rom & install a voodoo kernel & then this phone flies in quadrant, smartbench & real-world performance. Battery life is usually fairly stellar as well. Don't mean to troll or anything, just trying to offer info & experience.
That is all...

Cheers to this. It's weird seeing less activity these days due to people upgrading. I've learned a lot here in just one year of joining XDA.
This phone was awesome, I still have it laying around next to my computer, with WarmTwoPointThree, but this Rezound is such a perfect thing to upgrade to. It's nice to see a phone grow up like this, whereas with the inc, I started lurking here back when Sense 3.0 was going around, and the biggest thing. ICS Sense is awesome guys, just saying
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Yeah, everyone here has been really helpful. But I'm starting to see other forums here develop similarly as their phones are rooted.
I was lucky that by the time I rooted my AMOLED DInc (a year after getting it), there was already a strong community here to help me through.
But perhaps the most important lesson I learned is that, while HTC hardware is nice, I don't really like Sense (especially now that I've been running CM7 for a year now). If HTC introduces an HD phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, I'll be all over it. If it's a different vendor, then they will get my money. You see, now that I see how easy it is to customize a phone after it's gotten rooted, I really don't care too much about who made it.
And if I don't like any of the phones announced at MWC, I'll probably pick up an LG Spectrum and see what I can do with it...

i think im going to keep this phone till it dies. its the perfect size. i get great battery life and will all the development that has gone into it. It might not be supported but the great devs out there but it still lives on.
I'm so glad I went with the Incredible (although late). The only gripe is I use the 3500 extended battery and wished I didn't have to, as it does give it a bulky look.
But like they say, it's what's on the inside that counts right?
I notice I have been keeping tabs on the so-called HTC Edge/Endeavor that is supposed to be revealed next month.
Definitely a great community for help, and also some of the best dev's are here. I bought a Fascinate (for a semi-upgrade), and the community is lacking there. Sadly, I think I'll be parting the Incredible, for an upgrade to GN or Rezound.
If only HTC decided to make another Incredible with Rezound specs, and 4" 720p display with ICS/4G

A 4" screen is the most ideal IMO. I have no qualms with watching movies on the 3.7", but as I matured with the phone I guess I should step up in size as my video viewing has increased immensely.
A 4.7-ish" screen sounds scary but I'm sure I can adapt.
I finally went to see the nexus at my local Verizon last night and wow...compared to the inc screen, it is kinda big. I do want to get it for ICS, 4G, font facing camera, etc. but I don't really need a screen that big (that's how I feel), I guess I’m going to wait a bit longer to see what's coming out in the next few months. Plus, I hate the fact that after being a vz customer for a long time, the phone upgrade price is higher than a new customer price. (I saw new customer price on amazon.com for $99), why don't they have incentives for users to stay with the same company.
Also, I wish there was a doc or something listing the devs/themes/testers/etc. of the inc and where they are now in terms of dev/themes/etc, which phones they have moved on to....sometimes it would make switching a bit easier.
PS --- I love the droid incredible.

Exactly the same way I feel about the GN. The screen is too big, I wish it was like 4.3". That's my limiting point. 4.0" would be ideal, and add that with 720p resolution, that would be a dream come true. You have a high PPI, not to mention, smaller screen = lower battery consumption (compared to a bigger screen). I'm due for an upgrade next week, and I'm leaning towards the Rezound. I just wish that phone was thinner!

The GN is really only a 4.3" viewable area. Its just that they have on screen buttons that take up that extra .35" but yeah it goes seem huge. Rezound feels nice, so does the Razr. MAXX. And the battery on that thing is 3300mah!!!!!! Holy Cow!

I was able to pick up my dream phone (Weird how much we value these things now, isn't it?) August of last year after 4 months of research and another 4 of hunting one down. I found mine minty fresh used amOLED for $150 outright and never looked back.
1900mAh battery in stock back casing, Seidio Active Case, and Steinheil Ultra Clear screen protector.
So what does that give me? A small, quick phone with battery life up to 3 days, internet, maps (my favorite), and friends just a click away. There isn't a device made today that can touch us, which is why our Devs have gone so far.
Thank you everyone, now let's make it to the next course of dessert, shall we?
If it weren't for the Incredible, I wouldn't be set on an AMOLED screen for my next device. It is astounding how amazing it still looks even next to some of the latest devices!
I don't care what anyone says, I'm hoping to dive into a Nokia Windows phone next. Specifically, if some of the kinks are worked out and a couple more functions are added by the time June comes around, you better believe I'll be hitting tiles and text and shooting with a Carl Zeiss lens! UberMusic on my Dinc is just making the desire even more intense.

WP7 does look fairly cool and the features aren't much different from Android. You wouldn't lose much in regards to functions which is great. I have UberMusic as well and love the WP7 theme for it.

^ This. I've had my upgrade available for a while. The newer phones generally get worse battery life vs dINC with mods- and I'm also not a big fan of the super large screens. I easily lasted the day with stock, but I put on the 2150 just to make sure I never had to worry, so while my buddies with the samsung galaxy nexus and moto razr go to plug theirs in at work I'm not even worried.
There's huge amounts of development here, people are awesome (unlike some forums I've visited ), and there's nothing on my phone that I feel needs an upgrade. 3G speeds can stream HD youtube, web surf and stream internet radio flawless so I'm all set until this baby dies or there's some god-like phone that comes out.
This has been a great community, I like many others have moved on to other phones. It is still a great back up phone so it is nice to pop back in here to keep up to date on new mod and roms.
