I do love my X, but I have grown a little tired of the size and form factor. I am a little worried I might be disappointed with the battery life and a possible resale value on the INC if I do make the switch.
Anyone had a good experience going to the INC form the X?
I haven't had an X myself but I don't know why you should be concerned about resale value..you're using the phone.
The form factor of the DX sucks IMO, it's bulky and ugly.
The Incredible's screen is much nicer quality too, even the SLCD version. When comparing the screen sizes it's like quantity vs. quality.
If you're into custom ROMs and such, the INC is a great phone.

Only thinking about resale to help me buy a new phone when some newer versions come out (I had used the new every 2, even though its gone now, on X release date).

I can assure you not to worry about the resale value because, INC has a higher resale value than DX. INC is about $152 while DX is only about $96.

Hrmm I wonder why that is. I have been trying to look at what people are selling these for in the forums.
I had the x and switched to the dinc. HTC does a way better job with Android if you ask me. The community does much better with HTC devices as well. Sense is a must have for me as well.
Even though the evo sold mass amount of phones, I think its too big. I the x was just as big and drove me crazy. I like the size of the dinc. With the evos 1500 mAh battery in my dinc, I can last all day no problem.

I had an X and returned it for an Incredible. Part of the reason was because the Incredible was free and the X had cost me $200. That said, the Incredible feels faster, even with slightly slower hardware, thanks to HTC's superior software. Motorola's software package is pretty terrible.
I made that switch. The battery life is definitely worse on the incredible. I missed the big screen at first. Made the incredible seem extra small coming from the X. I have an slcd incredible and even that screen seems to have much more contrast than the Droid x. I like running cyanogenmod and custom kernels so im enjoying the incredible.

I'm actually confused myself. On htcpedia there is the 1500mah for $40 for the incredible .... but the 1500mah for the evo is $30... are they the same and does it matter?

X might be a nice phone but with a locked bootloader that's harder to get in than Fort knox...no thanks I will stick with my Incredible
I went from an Incredible to an X back to the Incredible
The X had nothing but issues, and screen wasn't nearly as gorgeous as the AMOLED one.
The Sense UI is the best UI you can get for Android, in my opinion hands down the best.
The hardware of the Incredible feels faster too like another poster said, on the X my friend and I were in a parking garage waiting to get a GPS signal, i pulled my Incredible out and mine found our location when the X was still looking for 10 more mins.
The X is also too tall, it doesn't use the right screen ratio like the EVO and ThunderBolt will.
The developer community is the best on EVO/Incredible vs Droid 1/2/X
and I also develop themes for Incredible which i'll be moving on to ThunderBolt
I just got an inc keeping my x to try this out. Only two things so far I don't like:
-can see the touchscreen sensors on a white background(emails or web usually)
-touch screen isn't quite as accurate as the x
-there was a hair under the glass screen. Looks like the screen isn't that tight around the body. Compressed air blew it right out though.
On a positive sense KILLS blur! The overall feel is great, better widgets, comfortable formfactor.
I had an X until 2 weeks ago. I miss it... The screen size is enough for me to be trying to get it back. I have BIG hands and I could fly texting on my X but on this, Im hitting backspace more than any other key, even with auto correct. The reason I traded was to be able to customize more which is definitely better. Another issue is with games. The Inc is slow to respond and it glitches and pauses all the time playing homerun battle 3d. The X NEVER did that. I don't know, they both have their positives and negatives but my hands alone are the reason I'm trying to trade back to an X. BUT I will come back to HTC when the Thunderbolt comes out. NO DOUBT, cause sense destroys blur. always had to use Luancherpro on the X but never on the Inc because of the custom roms...

What do you mean by the touch screen isn't as accurate? My friend and my cousin both have the X, my brother has the Fascinate, and I have the Incredible. I've used all 3 phones extensively and in my experience, the X has the least responsive touch screen of all. Do you mean accuracy as in trying to click on small links on web pages or something? If that's the case it might just be because the screen is smaller; if you're having trouble you could try highlighting the link or button that you want to click with the trackpad.
re x
i have the droid incredible and i bought the droid x on the week it came out.
Immiatlely i was dissappointed at the same time some things were great.
The low audio on the navigation even with the windows up made it unusable with turn by turn directions... im sure they fixed this.
The ****ty Moto UI = **** sammitch.
The below average quality of the lcd, it looked washed out and bland compared to my incredible.
The large 4.3 inch screen was awesome to surf on.
it was thin for a large phone.
It was new.
I have had many phones in the past and none of them gave me the same kind of user experience as HTC and sadly the iphone.
If i was technically retarded and was an old woman i would have kept my iphone..
But nobody besides HTC has made a better phone AND UI...
Samsung UI = **** , hardware = ok, software updates = ****
Motorola UI = **** see above
LG = **** **** and more ****
Sony = erickson = ****
nokia = failing ball of **** sammitch.. check their stocks.
Blackberry = corporate fail, good comm device.. everything else is 10 years behind.
iphone = boring plus your instantly enrolled in a group of 10 year olds and wanna be tech folks ... and mothers...any phone an old woman is comfortable using is a phone i do not want.
Well I had to trade the INC back because there was dust collecting under the screen. I am absolutely in LOVE with the phone compared to the X. But the big question I can't decide on now is:
Do I sell my X and go buy an INC retail so I at least have a 1 year warranty on it or buy one used and hope for the best (buying a new one would probably cost me 230 or so).

Yeah games was the only thing, but I haven't played one game on my X except for paper toss. Not such a big deal to me.
I started on an X... rooted it, ROMed it (to the extent that it can be, anyway), and tried to be patient while the devs cracked the boot...and got tired of waiting. I traded it to a friend straight up for an AMOLED DInc after 3 months, and seriously, there's no comparison. I love the freedom to load CM, or Ruby, or SkyRaider on my phone. I love the ability to remap the soft keys on my HTC or use QuickDesk or PowerStrip (neither of them can be done on the X due to the locking down of the hard keys by Moto).
The only two things that I miss about the X are the bigger screen, which I really liked, and the fact that Moto's build quality is very good (it always has been), but that is it. I'll never buy another motorola product ever again unless I hear that it is open- and not because I'm some sort of super-dev, either- simply because I get better support from the dev community whose ROMs I run when I have a problem than I've ever gotten from Moto or Verizon.
The X had pretty impressive specs, but it was absolutely weighted down under Blur... SOOOO slow. I didn't even realize how slow it was until I rooted and ROMed it using rubiX, which is truly an awesome ROM considering how locked the X is, but even then it really had a lot of stupid issues (random rebooting, etc.). Then once I found out that I couldn't connect to the 802.1x wifi at my school (a known motorola issue which STILL has yet to be fixed on the DX and D2), it was over.
I've gone DInc and never regretted it.
As far as the screen, I really think that SLCD vs. AMOLED is personal preference. The colors on AMOLED are suuuuper saturated, very "thick" looking to my eyes. I don't mind SLCD screen colors or look at all, but they're definitely toned down compared to AMOLED.
What about the processor speed? Well, both of them have 1gHz processors, and with the current battery technology we have right now, I really wouldn't want much more than a that- anything faster just eats battery, really. I get some lulz from all the spec queens out there who OC their phones to 1.5 and higher, and who have to have the latest dual-core processors- they're going to spend their whole lives plugged in to the wall cuz their batteries won't last 6 hours, and then complain about bad battery life. My 1gHz snapdragon loads pages, flash, and videos from the web with no problem. I've seen the AnandTech reviews about the DX's processor being slightly faster than the DInc's, but then you have to consider Blur and (REALLY) crappy Moto software and bloat (VZW navigator, Visual Voicemail, City ID, etc.) slowing everything down again. My CM7 / ADW EX DInc is hella snappy, and I get through almost 36 hours per charge (HTC Imagio 1700mAh battery) with frequent use. No OC/UCing, totally stock.
I AM looking forward to LTE tho. That should be a real improvement. Anyway, I'm off the soapbox. Hope this helped? I dunno. I'm sittin here drinkin coffee and saw this thread. Good luck.

I am on my 3rd Dinc replacement, I always seem to get duds. I have an option to get the Droid X instead of yet another refurb'd Dinc.
First, what I do/dont do with my phone.
I use GPS voice nav all the time.
I load it up with my audio books
I dont use widgets, dont do facebook, etc.
I use the camera and camcorder to take pics and videos of my kids, and I do alot of texting, sending pics/etc.
Surf the web, but I dont watch videos on the phone at all.
I use a BT headset.
I dont play games on it at all.
Could care less if the phone is rooted or not, I am rooted but I use LauncherPro so I dont have to deal with the bloated Sensi UI.
I dont have more than 6 apps downloaded from the market.
I hate the absolute ****ty battery the Dinc has.
Going on that info, is the Droid X going to give more problems (been reading up on battery, volume levels, etc) than the Dinc?, can the Droid X be considered a similar phone to what I have, except it does have that big ass screen. I have played with one for a few minutes, it is large, I can see things better on that big screen, and that screen size is the only thing that is even making me consider getting that phone.
droid x
the droid x is a great phone all those things you mentioned that you like to do the droid x will do and ask for more.i have used mine for 12hr on one charge not heavy use just some videos, marketplace, texting, camera.
btw: the amoled screen on the incredible is not visable in sunlight.
I am very happy that I made the switch, the two things I miss most are some of the sense widgets and root, neither of which seem to be an issue for you. The screen is amazing, the camera is amazing and the battery is an improvement. All in all it's a great phone and I couldn't be happier with it, well maybe with root, but I'm not getting my hopes up anytime soon.

Did you even have an Incredible? Yes, it's not the easiest to see in sunlight, but it certainly isn't "invisible", please.
To the OP, I am still trying to decide if I am going to keep my X, or go back to my Incredible. The X seems to get a little better signal then the Incredible, and it certainly works better with my Motorola T505, that I use to listen to my music through my car stereo, but it's big. I don't know if I like the feel of it in my hand. The Incredible, is a nice size, and fits perfect, in pocket, and in hand. Maybe the answer will be the 4" Samsung Galaxy S, when that arrives at Verizon. Anyway, I wish I could give you a more definitive answer, but it's only been a few days, and I'm still giving the X a chance, before I decide which on to stay with.
I think the HTC phone despite screen size and battery life is better. The DroidX screen is horribly washed out. Even compared to other phones including the Evo.
There are things that Sense manages even if you use a different launcher that the X does not have.
Simple things like SMS/Gmail icon notifications on the X are non-existent.
You can't use contact pictures from exchange, the facebook integration with contacts is X is a joke compared to HTC.
The contact UI in sense is much better and easier to manage than the X.
The camera on the INC is faster in low light and does not turn pictures yellow like the Motorola. The Motorola lock screen is slow and buggy.
The HTC just provides a more complete experience out of the box without having to download a bunch of crap to get everything the way you want.

Learn to turn up the brightness on your display...
The Droid Incredible and Nexus One have identical displays and I can see my Nexus One fine in direct sunlight when I have brightness on 100%. Once I start turning down the brightness, the visibility fades exponentially.
If you compare, the x is much more advanced and snappier than the incredible. Let's say you don't need noise cancellation and the nifty features of the cameras audio and video capture. Then yeah your cool with the incredible, essentially they're the same. Just the x has a larger display.
Also, if you sit and think, every android has a little more than this one, others have less, more have innovative inserts like the x, and others are just pretty like the droid incredible and the htc evo. This all boils down to what you feel suits your needs.
Oh btw, verizon is releasing froyo in a few weeks. For the droid, incredible, droidx, and droid 2. BGR just got the tip for it. Its on twitter. Damn, verizon really really like to be dominant. Like they see no other alternative but to be great.
Sent from my DROIDX via Telepathic DLNA.
I must agree with pima. I absolutely love my Inc (I also bought the X and am deciding which to keep), but it is extremely difficult (for me anyways) to read things like text messages on it when outside in direct sunlight on a bright day, even when I set brightness all the way up.
Sense definitely runs more smoothly than Motoblur, however I don't care for either and can't comprehend why Motorola or HTC would want to try to fix something that is not broken. It's maddening that OS updates are held up for months because of this. I long for a phone that doesn't force me to use it's manufacturer's UI (and is less glitchy than the N1). But I digress...
I see enormous potential in the X's camera, but find it to be very frustrating in it's current form. For example, I couldn't use Barcode Scanner yesterday because the auto-focus kept zooming in and out; therefore, the camera couldn't focus on a barcode long enough to get a scan (the same phenomenon resulted in inconsistent pic's). Luckily, this is undoubtedly a software issue the should be resolved in short order through an OTA update (this may well be fixed in the update that is being rolled out today).
I love the X's keyboard. I actually also liked the Inc's keyboard relative to my previous phone, the N1. However, the X's keyboard is the best I've used on a smartphone (and I also owned an iphone 3gs at one low point in my life).
The X's battery is way better than the Inc's in my opinion. I get more life from it than I did from the 2150 extended battery I bought from HTC.
I can defintely empathize with oldmacnut's dilemma. Both phones have clear advantages/disadvantages. I'm finding that rooting/unlocking are more important to me than i realized, so I will likely go back to the Inc. However, if was in the OP's shoes I would probably go with the X, especially considering that its bugs are fixable and Froyo update is coming soon.
I came over to the x from the dinc myself, if u aren't rooting i'd go with the x. The hi is actually a little more gittery on the x but the biggest difference i can notice is the actual power of the proccessor on the x, not just clock speed. The x can run games that would make my dinc choke up and freeze. Look at the quadrant benchmarks. Its freakin rediculous. The dinc is a AWESOME phone. The build quality feels superior on the x and it really comes down to what fits u best. I can say i miss the DInc but i don't regret getting the x. Goodluck, this cud b a tough decision.

They are both great devices. I had the choice of either or and I choose the Dinc. It's an HTC thing. IMO I think HTC has the best smartphones available period. Motorola choose to encrypt the bootlooder and imo that's extremely lame. Sure it may not matter to the average Joe but it's still sneaky.
I also have both and am still undecided which I prefer. As far as both out the box it depends on wether you're new to android or not. HTC Sense is very user friendly and I love the wigdgets. Motoblur is a bit laggy and the widgets aren't bad but not as good aa HTC. Performance in my opinion is about equal except games. The X is definitely superior although I never have a problem with the Inc. The Incs camera is slightly better but not much. I could go on but I think it comes down to root. I love to customize and make my phone unique. With the X it looks like that will be hard and the Inc is already rooted. And the X is really big but not uncomfortably so although I prefer the size of the Inc. So like I said before they're both great devices so I think root is really the deciding factor. Once the X is rooted it will probably be far superior.

I will have a droid x tomorrow as it was a replacement. In the mean time I bought a vibrant. I love the V but I also love the X!
I know this is V forum but I will also post this in the X forums to see if anyone there had to make a choice like mine!
If you had to choose, which one and why? WHY did you choose the V?
I assume that by being on XDA you'll want to play around with the phone and custom roms, the Droid X's locked bootloader will dampen the fun. Who knows when people will crack it, might be a month, might be a year.
Agreed with what tissimo said. In addition to that, Vibrant offers Super AMOLED Screen (colors are amazing), and 1GHz Hummingbird Processor. Which are pretty much the best specifications for an Android phone at the moment. Not to mention but its rumored that Verizon will be killing "unlimited data" in the future, so T-Mobile has the upper hand if Verizon goes on with that plan of going on capped data plans.
The screen of the Vibrant is perfect. I think 4.3'' is too big. It feels bad in my pocket. The screen of the X is very close to the edge of the phone (scares me). the semi-blur UI sucks compared to TouchWiz. Having the ability to change settings on the notification bar on the Vibrant rocks (and music controls).
But like everyone has, and will say.... Motorola pissed off the android world when they locked their bootloader like it was the holy grail. I would never buy a phone that I could not flash a custom ROM... and you saw how long it took them to get eclair on the droid, laughable. THANK GOD those with a droid could flash a custom rom (yeah Motorola, that helped you a lot, all of these wonderful developers doing your job).
Well I think the Vibrant is just about the perfect screen size. The Droid X just seems too big. Also, the Vibrant will almost assuredly have CM6 before the Droid X, if the X even gets it at all!
^ sadly, it will not.
after 5 failed cliqs i will never buy another motorola phone.. so no droid x for me.

Haha yeah I was never really impressed with any of Motorolas more fairly recent (last 3-5 years) build quality. RAZR anyone?
Motorola can suck it. I had the Cliq and had nothing but issues with it, not to mention it was so hard to hack. Motoblur is a horrid piece of software and burns through your battery. The vibrant is 100x better IMO.
Short answer, the Vibrant is the current heavyweight champion of the world. Nothing is better.
I went with Vibrant because I felt it was the best phone at the time, and because I hate Verizon. I love the Vibrant despite some initial bugs.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I own a Vibrant and my co-worker just got a Droid X.
The screen alone on the V blows the X away, to top it off a unit with a 4" display just feels right, whereas 4.3" is overkill, the Droid X looks like a brick, but at the same token I am getting comments that my V is an iPhone rip-off.
As far as the performance is concerned, I felt the Vibrant was snappier especially with Launcher Pro instead of TouchWiz.
cons of X are: probably better support (maybe it will see Gingerbread), 2 noise canceling mics (although i dont know if they work good, Vibrant has 0), camera with dual flash.
Everything else goes to Vibrant......battery life (although i read X is also good), screen quality, size, speed, bluetooth 3.0 (whatever that does)...
X is already seeing updates with fixes, and will see 2.2 very soon........while 2.2 is also coming to Vibrant, nobody knows if its this month or maybe as late as November
I heard the camera is better on dx too. I think it comes down to what provider you can deal with. Verizon is pretty expensive.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Droid X doesn't have an ARM processor (fail)
What you should really be asking yourself is incredible vs vibrant. Droid x is cute, but its hardware is lacking compared to either of these other phones. Not to mention Motorola phones have been difficult to mod even before the bootloader was locked.
I have to give it to Motorola that they made android way more popular in the USA than it used to be, but for anyone interested in custom ROMs or developing, they just don't compare.

Its about the same quality. More mps doesnt make it better. Vibrant has ton of in camera features, dont know about X
EDIT. iPhone, Sony, and Nokia cameras are the best on the market, the rest all have glitches here and there and all about the same quality....Vibrant camera is not sharp enough, maybe its a software glitch with auto focus or something...X camera pictures I believe come out noisy due to 8MP, Nexus One pictures lack color....
Im moving over to the Droid X, simply because im a "need the latest greatest" type of guy, but I really love my Incredible! So if Im not happy, i hope one of you will trade me back an incredible!
You'll be back.
I'm kinda in the same boat. I have the opportunity to upgrade to either a fascinate or a droid x (saying ill give my bro my incredible and $50 so I can snatch his upgrade) but I'm not 100% sure I want to do it. Sure id like a better screen but as it stands every phone on verizon has a quirk, so I feel that no matter what I choose I will never truly be happy. For example:
Incredible: lowsy battery life unless you fatten it up a little, creaky/squeaky backplate, relatively weak graphics
Droid X: terrible menu buttons, strange hump design for the camera, could be annoying to hold at times
Fascinate: GPS barely works
So in short every phone has flaws that will make you keep going "I wonder what life would be like if I went with phone x..." People like us are truly doomed

From the two backplates I've used, they both exhibit a squeaky/creaky noise when held from time to time... doesnt give the strongest build quality feel. I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this.
As for the graphics issue you'll notice my use of the word relative. I'm not implying the incredible is weak, but when compared to the droid x or the fascinate it certainly is. It is still stronger than the iphone 3gs, and that's capable of running that epic citadel tech demo so ill leave it at that.

You might be moving to the latest , but not the greatest .
I know the squeaky feel you're talking about, I forgot about it once I got a case. As far as the X, I would enjoy having a bigger screen but am not a fan of Moto phones, especially the crap Motoblur the X is running.. If I were you, I would save your upgrade for an LTE phone or something better, as the Droid X is by no stretch of the imagination the latest and greatest. rofl.
Agreed
I am not completely happy with the incredible but there are many htc phones in the works with world capabilities as well as the moto pro, that's without mentioning windows phone is dropping sometime in the next 4 months to verizon, in november to AT&T. I really don't care for anything else on the x besides the screen real estate. I have two lines available for upgrades, however, I don't see the point in upgrading right now because I love the rca outs for the incredible. I have my fiance drive me around everywhere in my titan so I can watch hulu from my dinc. Plus this is the only device I've ever owned that just works every time I call upon it. The moto droid was a big step but sometimes it would cut out in the middle of navigation, or skip when playing songs. My incredible works no matter how much I torture it I even had to scoop it from the sand with my feet underwater, I took the battery out, let it dry and it has been working for 3 months since without any issues. I am just a new tech junkie I suppose as long as their isnt a gay colored half eaten apple on it.
I agree. At this time, there simply isn't anything better out there.

Wait till November, the X was not a good phone IMO
There are some new phones coming to VZW in November. There is an EVO like phone coming to VZW, and it will probably be more beast then EVO.
http://www.androidguys.com/2010/08/27/evolike-android-device-breaks-cover-possibly-headed-verizon/
There is also this one, 4" HTC slider with nice keyboard.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/04/htcs-dual-mode-cdma-gsm-android-slider-hits-the-fcc-decked-out/
There was also rumor of the HTC Scorpion 1.5GHZ processor and Froyo coming to VZW.
Im sure ill be back, I really love the inc......I have a 30day grace period, so ill weight it all out
Cant decide which one to get. vote and Post why you chose the one you chose.
the only reason why i am leaning towards the fascinate is no locked boot loader and fast GPU for games and it seems more smooth and snappy. but i dunno if those are real issues....
on this forum, it looks like the droid X is only slightly more popular.

my bigest concern is that no 2.2 means no official flash support. and since it recieved an maintanance update recently its not coming for a bit (otherwise they'd role it all into one). that and i hate bing. following birdman's tweets... there seems to be a lot of odd things with the root folder structure as well.
its all personal preferance, i look at the fascinate more as a toy.

im kinda out of the loop right now. whats the story with the droid x and 2.2? that is somewhat of a big deal.
IMO, all the X has over the Fascinate is:
a lot heavier (5.47oz vs 4.1oz),
slightly larger (127x66x10.2mm vs 125x64x10.5mm),
bigger screen (4.3" vs 4.0"),
bigger camera lens (8mp vs 5mp).
*better reception*
And, oh yeah, Froyo!
Latest word from Samsung, Fascinate will have Froyo "by the end of the year." I prefer a 4" SAmoled to 4.3" LCD and I've read the Samsung takes better pictures even with the smaller lens, So I'm leaning Fascinate as well. But NOT impressed with Samsung's support.
I have a vibrant running a leaked TMo froyo, and I've played with the DX, everyone is different but I much prefer the Galaxy. Screen, feel, non-blur, really good developers, super easy to root/customize and the phone has some millions... lots of support.
I just went through 3 replacements in 7 days. I like the hackabliity of the Fascinate and the screen is gorgeous but its too thin and between TouchWiz being stock and Samsung still not having Froyo out on the eve of Gingerbread I'm not impressed. I have a Droid X on the way and couldn't be happier. Motorola has the best reception and data speed IMO. As long as I have root and WiFi Tether I'm fine. Someone will crack the bootloader eventually. The devs here are amazing.
I should add "Better reception" to my above post, that is a significant plus for the Droid X. Thanks for that, Jeffnucci. However, if you think the Fascinate is too thin you are going to be disappointed to learn the Droid X is actually thinner. Thinner and heavier may mean more fragile due to increased momentum from a 3' fall.
I think the bootloader on the Droid X is like 2.2 on the Fascinate - just don't have it yet but won't be a significant difference in several months. When they are running the same software, it's just the differences in hardware that will matter.

The X is heavier though is it not? Thin and light gives me the feeling of cheapness in my hands. The X feels like it has a nice heft to it.
I played with the fascinate a bit and did not really like the feel of it. I like the fact that the DX is made of metal and has a larger screen. IMO AMOLED screens suck in bright sunlight. Almost unusable in my experience. I have owned samsung phones in the past and my experience with samsung support is sub par. Combine the DX with the Fission Rom and that equals awesomeness...lol

whats so special abou the fission rom???
Fission is a vanilla android experience. It's blazing fast and doesn't have blur crap. It's a brand new phone I'm holding in my hands.
Yes it is really fast. They have worked out most if not all of the bugs and will have an official release on monday. The speed, amount of ram, and battery consumption are just a few reason to use it.
Droid x is better I had the fascinate for a month it is too buggy and cheap feeling went back to the x it is just a better phone.

Agreed. I just got my X and it is the best phone I've had yet. I've owned an iPhone 4, a BlackBerry Torch, a Fascinate, a Droid, etc. This is fast, it feels good in my hands, it looks nice, I love it.
I had an incredible (rooted). Sweat got behind the screen so my local verizon store gave me the option of another inc or the facinate. I took the facinate. Voice quality sucks, signal sucks but the screen is unbelievable. Due to reception issues I can swap for an X but after comparing screens I just can't pull the trigger. The X's screen colors seem very washed... Is this normal or is there a fix?

two words: "unlocked bitloader".... i am sick of this crap and this will be the last moto i own if it continues.... i wouldint buy a laptop if it had the same thing...
I have had every single phone VZW has to offer. (smart phone wise) I had the Fascinate and honestly loved it. The screen in AMAZING. I couldn't believe how nice it was and the picture quality is literally as good if not better than the X. I currently have a X and really enjoy it but i find myself missing my Fascinate from time to time. A lot of people are saying it felt cheap because of how thin it is... But i kind of liked that... The thiness i mean

About the cheap feel, With the kickstand case on it, its a different phone. I don't think I can return it lol.

I went with the X due to reception, mics (noise cancellation and sound quality), battery life and the build quality.
I love the form factor and the samoled screen on the fascinate but I wasn't comfortable going with that phone due to the wonky GPS. I don't use the GPS that often but when I do I need it to work.

The X isn't washed out, the Fascinate is just massively oversaturated. Just the nature of OLED displays. A day of not using one and you'll realize the X in fact has a very lovely screen. And technically very close to color correct.
Well, I thought I would get the T-Bolt on launch day because the Incredible needed an upgrade. Well, if you're undecided, I thought I would give my take on it.
Like the Incredible, I was the only person in-line on launch day looking to buy it. The upgrade was fairly seamless until I noticed that the VZ sales rep scratched the piss out of the top and side of the phone. Basically, I said that I don't want to be a jerk, but you scratched the piss out of my phone and I want a new one. After a small debate with the manager, I got my second T-Bolt just minutes after launch day opening.. LOL, really lol.
Anyway, here is what I noticed...
- It's heavy, really heavy. The Incredible is a great weight, the T-Bolt was border-line hand strain.
- To me the screen looked faded and not as vibrant. The T-Bolt was sharp, just not quite like my AMOLED Incredible.
- 4.3" screen is large. My hands are considered a standard mans size and typing with one hand was hell. My thumb was just not long enough to reach the opposite side of the screen for typing. Two-handed is fine and quick thanks to the screen size.
- Battery.. With only a few texts and a couple calls my battery was in the 30% range by lunch. I unplugged it around 6am. The forums were telling users to disable the 4G.. Really? What is the point of this phone then..
- Sound. It's bad. Notifications and ring tones distort bad. I would decrease the volume, but it's hard to hear the sounds the way the phone sits. The kick stand in front of the speaker was a bad idea.
- Bloatware. Plenty of that on this phone. Just like most stock HTC phones. Anyway, rooting and Titanium Backup takes care of all the crap apps.
- Speed. It's quick, sense runs fast and launcher pro ran fast as well. But, the Incredible runs fast enough for me. Running Quadrant and Smartbench gave somewhat similar results on the phones. The graphics were quite a bit faster on the T-Bolt according to smartbench.
Anyway, I think the T-Bolt is a good entry 4G Verizon phone. Personally, I am partial to sub 4" phones. I am going to wait till something a little more refined comes along (4g wise). The DInc is still an awesome phone and still has plenty of life left for me.
BTW, the T-Bolt also has a front facing camera. I was stoked about that, too bad it was mostly useless until a good app is out for it.
Thanks, useful.

Thank you for that review.. good to know the DINC can still hold its own.. my upgrade is next January and maybe we'll see a DINC sized 4G phone by then.
I too am happy with the size of my Dinc ;o)

Hey, thanks for your review. If HTC releases a 4" phone with the Evo 3D's specs, I would be all over that in a heartbeat!
Edit: Minus the 3D (I hope that this 3D fad dies a quick death). 3D r&d money should be spent on battery technology.
Appreciate the info. I'll be keeping my DInc! With Incredibly Reengineered ROM it's as fast as ever with GREAT battery life.

Thanks for taking the time to give us your take on the TB.
About the battery, just remember with any new battery you need to condition it (Fully charge than discharge about 10 times) before you get good chunks of battery life.
I just love the optical trackpad on the Inc, and this is going to make it hard to leave. Unfortunately no new phones have any pointing device besides a full touch screen, and I don't know about you guys but I find it very hard to move the cursor or select text without the trackpad.
I got rid of my iPhone 4 and got the incredible. That's s whole different topic, but it was worth it. Thank you for your comparison!

Well I grabbed the t-bolt really so i can lock in my free unlimited 4G contract and continue to pay 78 dollars a month so thats 4g for the 3g price grandfathered in saving 480+ dollars over the next 2 years more than the price of the 249 on contract price
i swap nice clean refurbs all the time with verizon so a better phone is still in the cards for me just wont be brand new...but with the past refurbs i have gotten i really couldn't tell the difference

My exact feelings right now. Also without the 3D... The Incredible S(2) is said to have a 4" screen and front facing camera. And better battery.
DINC
MIUI
I would get the Thunderbolt, but honestly it didn't impress me that much. Droid Bionic looks better. As for screen size I'm switching between inc and droid X. Inc's screen is too small, but Droid X's isn't as nice. Games run 1,000 x better on droid X. So really the fascinate seemed to be the phone for me... Until the sluggish nature of it came out... So really I need a super amoled Droid X lol. Bionic's resolution may push me over we will have to see... Also I think the Incredible S may be a 4"er will have to see..

I do agree but the optical doesn't always behave the way I would like

I went by on Friday to take a look at the Thunderbolt. I wasn't really impressed because it didn't look like it had the HTC Hub with the navigation. There were just not too many features that would make me want to go out and get rid of my Incredible.
I am at almost a year with my Inc. Personally I agree with the OP. The Thunderbolt is too big for my taste...and sadly the bigger phones seems to be the trend. Hardware is a marginal step forward.
Cant wait for 4g to reach fresno ca but i will not be getting a tbolt

No, you don't. If it was a NiCad then that would be something you would need to do but a lithium battery has no "memory." In fact, a full discharge hurts the battery more than helps. These batteries like to stay charged.

I'm here doing research on my wife's Dinc, I have the Fascinate & just want to add that the lag of the Samsung rfs file system is a thing of the past if you root. Once rooted you can load a debloated, custom rom & install a voodoo kernel & then this phone flies in quadrant, smartbench & real-world performance. Battery life is usually fairly stellar as well. Don't mean to troll or anything, just trying to offer info & experience.
