Just wondering if anyone has installed the WP7 update. Also, did you run into any problems?
ATM, there is no Pre-Update on my end, I've been trying since yesterday.
none on my end either
No go over here. I guess Dell doesn't know how to send updates.

I have.....what do you need to know....
I still haven't received update
Still nothing here, either. I guess we're at the end of the line of this gradual rollout....
Same here, still haven't received update notice for T-Mobile USA.
have similar problem
I don't think DVP is gonna get the Pre-Update, I guess the Carrier skip it till NoDo.
How is this going to work for those of us who unlock the DVP and use it on other carriers? Presumably nobody else besides T-Mob is going to push the update to a DVP - is there any other way we can get it? Or are we going to be left behind??
You will have to check through the Zune software manually.

Wow now that's interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong with my assumption.. does this mean that, given I am a T-Mobile USA subscriber where the pre-Nodo update is blocked, that after unlocking my DVP I can bypass the carrier update blocking and receive the pre-Nodo update through Zune software?
From what I've read on other forums, lots of people who tried to manually obtain the update through the Zune PC software haven't yet had any luck with that method.
Hi I just recently bought the DVP from India and my phone has the update pre installed. It has copy paste functionality also i would like you guys to know that my DVP has 512 MB of Ram checked through device info an app from marketplace.

Can you do me a favor? Can you extract the EM app(EM.xap file under /windows directory of the phone) out of it and post it here?
You need to use the webserver app (side load it) to extract the file.

this is not totally correct. When the update is available, you get a notification. When you dismiss that notification but don't update, you receive the notification again in 3days. When you plugged to Zune, it can only show you what you have available. It does not force an update you are not entitled to. It only allows you to override the 3 day polling period.

It is also possible the pre-update isn't being blocked by T-Mobile, but isn't needed for the HD7 or Venue Pro. Since the pre-update is only geared at making the update process more stable for certain devices it is possible it wasn't required for our device.
We will see what the deal is when NoDo drops to get some certainty though...

The actual app from Optus works a treat, but the widget just says "There was an error displaying your usage". Anyone else having trouble with it?
Same problem here. Nfi how to fix.
No luck here either.
If it actually worked, took up less space on the screen (maybe 4 icon spots or less instead of 8!!!), and usage was updated more regularly (delayed up to 24hrs tsch...) then it would be perfect.
But alas, it fails. Still, I keep the app on my homescreen.
Not sure what issues you guys are having, im running Version 1.0(1) and it works fine!
do you know by any chance the link to download this app?

Have you tried the widget, not just the app? Cause it's the widget that doesnt work for us (should display the usage but errors).
Also I think theres only 1 version out atm.

Luckily I dumped it before firmware (CSC) update, because that removed all the optus apps.

No worries.
Sorry I wasn't quite clear in my wording...
I meant I dumped the optus app before I upgraded firmware.
I flashed to JFB, then JFF, then JG1. I can't notice many improvements... In fact my phone is a bit more laggy at JG1 (but I have more apps installed so I presume it's that).
I would flash to JG3 but... I don't wanna have to restore all my settings and data again... (done it about 5 times).
I wouldn't mind having a copy of original AUS firmware for safety reasons... or at least the CSC (contains all the carrier specific info).
It's doing the same thing for me. Curses.
ahh common problem I see. wonder how this stuff is logged...

Hey guys, quick 2 Optus-related questions. Switched from 3 to them when I bought my Galaxy S yesterday.
1) How can you find out your account number? I've registered a username and password for using the My Account app, but it wants an Account Number that it states will be on my bill, the first of which I obviously won't be receiving for a while...
2) Is there a backup of the stock Optus firmware (JF3) including all the pre-loaded apps just in case any of us ever need to return the phone under warranty to load it back to its factory settings and firmware?
Cheers!
1) It's annoying you don't get it when you first sign up, but it's written on your first bill (pro-rata which is only a few days).
Apparently you can also call up optus and get it off customer service, however I didn't know this so I just waited.
2) No there isn't a proper flashable dump, unfortunately. If you do decide to flash your firmware (it's worth it if you can't wait for official updates.. which are very slow).

Aha, found them thanks to the awesomeness of Ausdroid!
http://ausdroid.net/apns/
^ use those to find the APNs for all aussie networks once you've flashed a new firmware. Make sure you have wifi turned off when you enter the info, and once the settings are in press menu -> save and within a few seconds the 3G icon in the notification bar appeared.
I saw this posted somewhere a while ago but can now no longer find it.

Tried searching around but I'm likely not typing in the correct terms.

going by the way these updates are frying sd cards and internal memory on other phones...i'd be wary to be frst one to try.
Has anyone ever tried the check-in dialer code (*#*#2432546#*#* or *#*#CHECKIN#*#*) on an Epic? I'm not seeing any results whatsoever, it's like I've typed in an unrecognized / incomplete number-- which I suspect is exactly the case.
And for anyone who's ever had success with it, Epic or not, does it give any indication or confirmation when there's not an update available? In other words, are my results to be expected when an update is unavailable, but once an update is available it will acknowledge the code and indicate as such?
I thought this was a GSM only code, then an HTC only...but I think I'm wrong on both...

I understand it isn't going to magically make an update for me thanks. But as seen on that page there is usual visual feedback indicating a successful checkin.
Either way I did not see anyone successfully do it with an Epic, so maybe it's just an htc thing or something else.
well, I just did a ##RTN# (on stock, unrooted, unmolested eclair) then entered my MSL.. waiting for full reset here to check for the update..
I'll report back once it's finished.

There must still be a reg entry that identifies the phone as a HD2. When my phone rebooted during the update, my PC found new hardware and the pop up said "LEO"

I really hope that someone get on top of this update pretty soon so that we can all enjoy the update on our HD2, tadaaaaa........
My phone just rebooted itself and now it won't boot up at all. Shows the HTC screen and vibrates then turns off. I wonder if this has anything to do with the failed update
i keep getting registry error.. guess MS will only tolerate so much
but my hd2 still boots and runs fabulously...no complaints...best os out there
Hopefully my problem is unrelated to the failed update. I can't believe people are still trying it. It WON'T work! Don't even bother.
so... has anyone succeed updating his hd2??

There is nothing in this 'update' which should excite us.
This first update for Windows Phone is designed to improve the software update process itself. It’s only paving the way for all future goodie-filled updates to your phone, such as copy and paste or improved Marketplace search.
P.S. to those who have reported problems with the phone after the update I can only say that is most likely NOT related to it. I have no problems with using my phone after that, both Marketplace and Xbox live are working just as fine as before.

PS, Mine is AT&T 1.6 Completely Stock US BestBuy unit.

So ultimately, this shows us that it was a delay at DELL..and not AT&T that had us waiting so long. (granted I'm sure at&t was requesting changes on beta that was sent months ago).

Well I'm running 318, and I want to update to 340. When I got the phone I quickly upgraded to 318 and I have been waiting for an official update from Dell for the AT&T Streaks. That's just me though.
I'm curious about this 340 update, please let us know some differences and maybe hidden fixes that are included.
Well that stinks. My update failed. Error was cryptic but it looks like it was checking vendor type and didn't get a match with "ATT" on my current ROM. crap

I did down load the file to my desktop. Sitting here still waiting.
Any ideas since I have the update pkg. file.
Download fine. After install it rebooted itself and stuck on Dell Splash Logo. For like over 5 minutes. I walked away and came back to it still stuck. So I pulled the battery. Trying again.
RETRIED:
Still stuck on dell splash. battery pull returns phone to normal, but something is not happening after it reboots. I waited alot longer this time just in case.

Are you privy to some inside info? How does this demonstrate that? Could Dell have been waiting for the OK to pull the trigger from AT&T? Did Dell release this without AT&T's approval because they got tired of how the wait reflected on them? Why would Dell release updates for other carriers and not AT&T unless there was some issue or approval process they needed to complete?
If you have inside dope share. If you can demonstrate a logical thought process that get you to your conclusion enlighten us.

As many already know the call+SMS filter does not block calls if your using the 928 on Verizons network, yet it works fine if you put it on another carrier.
I found this version of it at the Store - call+SMS filter ver. 1.5.4.2 - But can't get it to install, even on a dev unlocked phone. When I run XapDeploy it comes up with Invalid XAP file.
Could someone help me get this installed?
I'm thinking, possibly the one that VZW has installed on the phone is the reason the filter doesn't work properly.
Also is there a way to check what the version numbers are of the apps installed?
Thanks

Xap files downloaded from the store to a PC are encrypted and can only be installed from an sd card on supported devices. Also, in the one instance that I had to use this app on my Lumia 928 it worked just fine. If the app in the store is compatible with your device just install it from the store. You can uninstall the current app from settings by setting the date on your phone to 100 years in advance (2113) and opening the call/sms filter app. It should give an error with the option to uninstall. Don't forget to change the date back to current or you will have issues.
By the way the store version is the same as installed.

Don't do that !!!!!
I did it and now I can't install this feature. Anyway - this option is added with "extras+info" from your link I can't install too. I think, that only "hard reset" repair it.
Here's what you have to do, get the updated extras+info app. Open it, and click on More Info, wait a few seconds (like 5) close the app and you should see calls+sms filter in the Settings menu. If it isn't there, try that process again. It only works for Lumias with the Amber Update.
THX, but I have Amber and I have newest extras+info version (1.12.0.1). When I opened that and I wait 5, 10, 15, 60 sec call+sms filter don't show in the settings. In the first time (when I flashed Amber - august 5) I had calls+sms filter, but about 10 days he was broken. Now I haven't that option and I can't install that.

Terrific! Thanks yet again!!
It did go OTA the other week. But they put a hold on it. Sounds like they are updating it, I guess bug fixes. There was a couple people on another forum that got replacement phones and didn't have Amber on them and no updates available when checking on the phone. So they contacted VZW and Nokia and where informed of this Amber 'hold' but should be getting it soon, most people should have it by the end of September.
I was messing with NCS today and flashed what I just got and it's definitely not Amber.
Has anyone done a hard reset to see if they can get the call+sms filter working on VZW? I have been trying to get an answer out of Nokia and VZW on this and all I get is "do a factory reset". They also claim I am the only one they know of having this issue (yet I sent links to a few forums, including Nokia's own where there is a thread on this).
extras+info just updated their app today. I would download that and try it again.

Got Amber back on the phone and the updated Extras+Info. But the call+SMS filter wasn't updated yet. So still a no go blocking calls with it on Verizons network.
