I saw this posted somewhere a while ago but can now no longer find it.
There was a # XXX XXXX XXX number or something that had your phone query or get added to the google servers queue so that it could possibly get an update sooner.
Tried searching around but I'm likely not typing in the correct terms.
*** I think the code I saw was for the Epic but could have been for the EVO I suppose since I had that for a while, sorry if that's the case ***
well found it, but...

If there's no update available for your phone from your carrier, then this trick won't magically compile and distribute one, of course.

me neither..i think an update needs to be available to get it...if i dont get an ota tomorrow ill try it again
going by the way these updates are frying sd cards and internal memory on other phones...i'd be wary to be frst one to try.
Has anyone ever tried the check-in dialer code (*#*#2432546#*#* or *#*#CHECKIN#*#*) on an Epic? I'm not seeing any results whatsoever, it's like I've typed in an unrecognized / incomplete number-- which I suspect is exactly the case.
And for anyone who's ever had success with it, Epic or not, does it give any indication or confirmation when there's not an update available? In other words, are my results to be expected when an update is unavailable, but once an update is available it will acknowledge the code and indicate as such?
I thought this was a GSM only code, then an HTC only...but I think I'm wrong on both...

I understand it isn't going to magically make an update for me thanks. But as seen on that page there is usual visual feedback indicating a successful checkin.
Either way I did not see anyone successfully do it with an Epic, so maybe it's just an htc thing or something else.
well, I just did a ##RTN# (on stock, unrooted, unmolested eclair) then entered my MSL.. waiting for full reset here to check for the update..
I'll report back once it's finished.
EDIT: ok, it finished. no update for me yet.

I just thought I'd post on this because apparently I'm not the only having this problem but I'm not sure what has caused it. My location was working on Donut, but for some reason that no longer seems to be the case. I can let you know the specific files I'm using if need be, but I've tried different combinations of files to go along with different Donut system.sqsh files and it still doesn't seem to work.
Is there a particular reason for this of which I haven't been made aware?
I see a bunch have viewed this but no one has replied. If anyone can use My Location on Donut, could you at least confirm that for me? Thanks.
I've never been able to get 'My Location' to work on any build, but Google Maps in WM has always worked... I would also love to see this issue solved!

It will work on your first boot of donut with a new data. After that, it doesn't work anymore. The devs need to rework the code (zImage or rootfs or somewhere). I'm sure they'll get to it soon. Until then, we wait patiently or learn how to code and help out!

Thank you for the response. I heard this from someone else, but it didn't even work on first boot for me, so I'm not sure. In any case, if it doesn't work for anyone after that initial boot, then I'll just have to wait.
I can't even get it work on Cupcake now. I don't know what the deal is.
But, My Location works on senseHero
I don't know if you care, but My Location does work on Zen's senseHero-v1.3.3. You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=582372
I keep going back and forth between senseHero and craig0r's Donut-Ion build with fixed Market found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=568580
SenseHero has GPS and My Location; Donut-Ion has the camera working. With Market-Enabler.apk, found here: http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/downloads/list you'll be able to get the paid apps on either build.
I just have the two builds on two different 2GB microSD cards. It's easy to carry the spare and change at will.

I'll give those a try now. I don't usually like HERO builds as much as the less themed ones, but we'll see.
Can any developers, if you see this post, say whether or not you're aware of this issue? As always, I'm not doing the developing so I don't want to be ungrateful. Just wondering what the deal is.
A WP7 updating is rolling out today and I just noticed my phone is alerting me of the update. Has anyone tried following through with the update?
Yes - Came back with an error
Registry is incorrect on the phone.
My HD2/7 is activated - not sure what registry changes have been made!
yes , don´t install
Update
I was't even expecting it to update but I was hoping for it to create a backup
Yeah same here it said cannot update due to registry settings.

i'm pretty sure your on a hd2...not hd7
so yeaa, now you should be sure why...
There must still be a reg entry that identifies the phone as a HD2. When my phone rebooted during the update, my PC found new hardware and the pop up said "LEO"
I am Using HD2 with WP7..the update came back with an error and the installation failed.
Trying to update isn't going to work.
Sent from my HD2 using Tapatalk
I really hope that someone get on top of this update pretty soon so that we can all enjoy the update on our HD2, tadaaaaa........
My phone just rebooted itself and now it won't boot up at all. Shows the HTC screen and vibrates then turns off. I wonder if this has anything to do with the failed update
i keep getting registry error.. guess MS will only tolerate so much
but my hd2 still boots and runs fabulously...no complaints...best os out there
Hopefully my problem is unrelated to the failed update. I can't believe people are still trying it. It WON'T work! Don't even bother.
so... has anyone succeed updating his hd2??

There is nothing in this 'update' which should excite us.
This first update for Windows Phone is designed to improve the software update process itself. It’s only paving the way for all future goodie-filled updates to your phone, such as copy and paste or improved Marketplace search.
P.S. to those who have reported problems with the phone after the update I can only say that is most likely NOT related to it. I have no problems with using my phone after that, both Marketplace and Xbox live are working just as fine as before.

I downloaded to Desktop, How would I go about installing it?
Would I copy to SD Card and then try to run it from there?
PS, Mine is AT&T 1.6 Completely Stock US BestBuy unit.
I one of the dumbAzzzzzzz's that did not update anything.
So ultimately, this shows us that it was a delay at DELL..and not AT&T that had us waiting so long. (granted I'm sure at&t was requesting changes on beta that was sent months ago).
downloading now.. eager to see if anyone can load it and tell us the differences between 318,319 and 322...
340 is a big jump imho.... If this has the wap and unknown sources included I will jump to it.
according to the first link...
it has mobile wifi hotspot
his software update also includes:
Improved performance & memory management
Enhanced Microsoft Exchange support
Ability to create a portable WiFi hotspot
Adobe Flash™ 10.1
Dell Mobile Sync powered by Nero™ to manage & sync your media & Outlook contacts with a PC. Download from support.dell.com/Streak

Well I'm running 318, and I want to update to 340. When I got the phone I quickly upgraded to 318 and I have been waiting for an official update from Dell for the AT&T Streaks. That's just me though.
I'm curious about this 340 update, please let us know some differences and maybe hidden fixes that are included.
Well that stinks. My update failed. Error was cryptic but it looks like it was checking vendor type and didn't get a match with "ATT" on my current ROM. crap
not downloading
Sitting here for over 2 hours after clicking download and install and no notification indication, no download indication on the streak.
I did down load the file to my desktop. Sitting here still waiting.
Any ideas since I have the update pkg. file.
Download fine. After install it rebooted itself and stuck on Dell Splash Logo. For like over 5 minutes. I walked away and came back to it still stuck. So I pulled the battery. Trying again.
RETRIED:
Still stuck on dell splash. battery pull returns phone to normal, but something is not happening after it reboots. I waited alot longer this time just in case.

Are you privy to some inside info? How does this demonstrate that? Could Dell have been waiting for the OK to pull the trigger from AT&T? Did Dell release this without AT&T's approval because they got tired of how the wait reflected on them? Why would Dell release updates for other carriers and not AT&T unless there was some issue or approval process they needed to complete?
If you have inside dope share. If you can demonstrate a logical thought process that get you to your conclusion enlighten us.
Error while updating
I tried downloading 3 times and while installing I get an error: Error code 7. Does anyone else experience the same issue?

This is automated; it runs on my server. It doesn't rely on manual updates, so it should be pretty quick (the script checks every 10 minutes). Let me know if you have any issues with it. I have a channel for each Nexus device if you have others; check my signature for the full list.

Unfortunately not. The reason the script can be automated is because the factory images page has a set format that I can compare against--essentially, the script determines if any of the individual device tables on the factory images page has changed, then it grabs the new version text from the table and pushes to the appropriate device. There's no official source for OTA builds, and even though they're hosted on Google's servers they have randomly-generated URLs so I can't programmatically check for them. The best solution would probably be to subscribe to the factory image update channel, then check XDA every so often after a new build comes out to wait for someone to post the OTA update itself. Sorry about that!

Yeah, I saw this post yesterday then looked around for that build. Looks like it's a special build that's only on devices directly purchased from Fi at the moment. If it ever gets added to the Nexus 6 list on the factory images page it'll pop up on the channel, but if Nexus 6 Fi devices have their own set of factory images I'll have to add a separate channel for them, which is no big deal. Nothing I can do at the moment though unless/until Google changes something on their end.
As a sidenote, is your device codename shamu like a normal Nexus 6? If you don't know for sure, you can check by going to Settings --> About phone, then tap "Send feedback about this device", then tap the small "system information" link. Scroll down in that window a little bit and it's under the heading "Device".
Thanks for the detailed explanation, I hope that the OTA comes soon... Then again, I'm probably due a spring clean factory reset of the phone anyways ... I just don't want to, it takes up about half a day to configure! (I'm no longer a rooter and modder)
Is it still working? Can't see the MMB29K being posted there.

Just curious if you don't mind me asking, but what script are you running on your server that queries Google's site and how did you get that connected to your Pushbullet channel? I'm thinking of doing something similar elsewhere but I don't know where to start since I'm so new to scripting.
Great job, using it for a few months and it works really well, is it possible to have a channel for Android N preview?
Great job, man! :good:
But... it didn't work with the last update of yesterday, October-03, at least for the Nexus 5 & Nexus 6 channels...
Maybe it's due to a change in the Factory Images page, with that new "Acknowledge" button next to the text "I have read and agree with the above terms and conditions"?
There's 10,000 slots available instead of the Sammobile reported 7500 slots available. Once you click a few agreements, you get in automatically but then nothing happens. You have to force the update by going into Settings\Software update. The update happens normally then. The settings menu has changed quite a bit, Oreo is MUCH snappier (especially reboots), and some icons have changed. The warning in the last screenshot comes up automatically about 20 seconds after each reboot. Good luck getting in!!! :highfive:

You have to be either a T-Mobile or Sprint customer or have the unlocked model. It won't appear for anyone else. It will ONLY show up in the Samsung+ app. If you don't see it on the main screen, use the 3 dot menu on the left to see if it shows up there like the screenshot I posted.

Sure, you could flash the modem if anyone could get the OTA but I'm pretty sure it'd be quite difficult. Since we're not rooted, you'd literally have to catch the OTA transmitting over your WiFi network onto your PC and then extract it. Which reminds me....
@bogdi1988 - Perhaps it's not showing up for you because you're not connected to a WiFi network. Make sure you're logged in to your Samsung account in Galaxy Apps and that all your Samsung Apps are up to date (the only way they update is when on WiFi.) Then check the Samsung+ app to see if it shows up for you. Hope this helps.

I updated hours ago and have rebooted several times since updating. I don't think I'd have a chance of finding the file name at this point. It would've been best to start a logcat right before initializing the OTA.

My "upgrade" did not go well. Turns out that package disabler pro is not playing nice with this update. I kept getting Android system has stopped and couldn't even load the main home screen. I gave up finally and hard reset and resintalled all my apps. I also had a pretty bad problem with the battery draining faster than it was charging on a wall plug. Factory reset was a pain to reinstall everything (still ongoing as I need apps, I reinstall them) but the battery issue has disappeared. Can't tell if WiFi is any better. Opinions on this release would be most welcome.

You're complaining about a third party app that disables stock apps that is NOT updated to support Oreo yet not playing nice with a Beta build??? Absurd. I'm quite sure the upgrade went as smoothly for everyone else as it did me.
As for my feedback, I haven't noticed a single hiccup with the build. It doesn't feel like a Beta. It seems like it could've been a final/official build.
Samsung+ never showed the update to me. Oh well. :crying:

It's not about "showing" it to you. They're pushing it to almost everyone. I spoke with 3 other guys who signed up and registered through the Samsung app and it pushed it on the next update.

So you see, I don't think my Samsung account is registered to their Beta program. I have never seen links to do so.
I guess as a small consolation, Samsung/TMo pushed a Nougat update out: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G955U/TMB/download/G955USQU1AQJ8/193749/

LOL, that wasn't a "complaint" that was an observation. As noted by the no complaint and an observation comment. As far as not noticing it's a beta, would that be between the 15 or so times per minute that the software pops up a warning that this is beta software and may not work as well as expected and may cause problems? That not obvious it's a beta message? Also, the bad battery drain was an issue. That shouldn't happen no matter what.
