so how do people get 3-5 ma battery drain?
mine always shows around 60ma and around 300 in home screen.
does that depend on the build or the apps installed and settings?
i cant figure out
It depends on all kinds of things. You do know you will only get a low current draw with the screen off right? Here are some things you might like to consider for longer battery life...
1. GPS on all the time?
2. Wifi on all the time?
3. Email sync frequency?
4. Screen brightness setting?
5. Install SET Cpu and create a profile for 'screen off' and set it to just above the minimum
6. Leaving processes and Apps running in the background
7. Time of day ;p
8. Number of widgets
9. Live wallpaper
10. Other stuff I haven't listed.
Usually it works after some resets and sometimes using another build can work. But if you've never had a low drain you might wanna try an other sd card. Borrow one from a friend and see if t that fixes anything.

i make sure the keypad lights are on before clicking haret and i get <10ma standby on the first boot every time
I had the same problem, constant drain of 60-80ma even in airplane mode. I flashed to different radio and now i get 5-9ma all the time, how you boot or what you do in win-mo doesn't mater some builds just work with a specific radio. I use 2.14.50.04 for my t-mobile HD2, works great with desire builds.
Guys, can anyone tell me what does "ma" mean? And how to check it on the phone?
Thanks

It stands for milliamp hours and install 'current widget' from the Market to check it. Once installed, turn your screen off, leave for at least two minutes and then the widget will tell you.
PS lower is better.

Never thought "ma" is "mA"
Thank you so much
how does a phone go from 70ma to 6-7ma standby consumption overnight?
today my battery was at 90% after 8 hours.
yesterday it was at 46% after similar standby time

I haven't used setcpu in ages and I still get 4/5 ma in standby. It's kernel dependant, not cpu dependant. the ONLY thing SetCPU is good for now is overclocking for pointless benchmarks.

Could be you were having reception issues the night you were having high drain and it was searching for signal a lot, or if you have it switching to a roaming service. Had it happen to me a few times.
Hey,
I have just recently noticed a weird problem on my Arc..
When the battery goes below 20% it shuts down (similar to the way how it would shut down when the battery is out).
Then I need to connect the charger and switch it on, after which the battery will show at 1% and in 5 mins it will change to 21-22%...
so basically below 20% the phone thinks its actually ran out of battery even though it hasnt and hence shuts down..
any ideas about what could be causing this? is it a problem with my phone or the battery?
thanks

Have you try to clear the battery stats?
You need to be rooted to do that (I hope everyone knows that )

First thing you need to have "root". If you don't haven't rooted, use GingerBreak to root. Search the forum for the thread.
Second install Battery Monitor Widget from Market. Open the application (This is a widget. So you may want to insert the widget in your home screen), press menu and click "Statistics" option and it will prompt you for confirmation. Once done reboot to make sure it's cleared properly (Not necessary, but recommended).
Hope this resolves your issue.

I had a similar problem with my arc after charging it for the first time (charged it till 100% with the phone turned on). Then, after I used the phone, when it reached 10%, it just shut down. Then I decided to charge it with the phone turned off and this really helped. After two full charging cycles, the battery is acting normal. Now my arc shuts down at 2% which I think is normal.
Clearing battery stats has worked so far...thanks a lot...

Great to know that. Thanks for the feedback.
Hello all,
I bought my iconia tab last Tues. I am a big fan of android. But I have used an I pad since they were released. Now I'm not going to make comparisons, but I'm thinking I may have received a bad unit. Or maybeothers can verify my findings.
Battery life is horrible.
I barely get 4 hours of use before I need to go running for the charger.
Random shutdowns and reboot.
Unit will shutdown at random, even when I'm using it. And it reboot any time it loses a wifi source. Ex. I have a mobile hotspot. If I shut the hotspot off, the iconia will reboot when it loses the signal.
Screen on/off all day.
When I put the unit in standby, the screen turns on and off about evey 2 minutes.
Laggy keyboard.
Even as I type this, the keyboard is extremly laggy.
I am running this unit stock now, nothing extra has been installed.
I even did a factory reset and hard reset.
Ii have not received any updates, although I check all the time. I'm still on the 1.104. Build.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
from your description, yeah, you should probably return this unit...
just return my device is not that bad, battery last 1 day with normal use, never random shut down
the only thing i got troubled with is screen on/off , that is solved by pressing powerr button several times, very annoying actuallly
I've gotten 2 days of moderate use, I usually charge every night but unless I'm playing games for hours at a time I'm usually @ 40% before I plug in.
If the tab is rebooting on a frequent basis, particularly if you can do it on demand, definitely return it.
The screen random on should be fixed by the .141 update
I don't want to start anything but when i read "Should I return it?" and your posting it in this forum, then most likely the person posting it (if you found this forum) knows a little about it. But to read, it shuts off, battery life is terrible, etc..
I dont use it all day but i will use it with lowest brightness, 1 min timeout, and i dont use twitter or play movies, but get like 5-8 days on a charge.. NOW, one key thing, i turn the power OFF when done using it and does hold the battery much better (I never tried airplane mode)..
Never mind, got off on a rant from the thread...unrelated, there are some very cool news apps that are out now for HC.
Ok. Returned it for a fresh unit. Letting it get a full charge before I do anything with it.
Fyi. Previous unit only gave me 4 hours. Regardless if I was using it or it was sitting in standby.
Does anyone know of a way to get the 141 update without rooting?

For the first time since I bought it I haven't used my device for a day. In around 22 hours of standby it lost 3% battery.
So draining in 4 hours in standby sounds completly defective to me.
when I got mine
battery was at 50%
I used it during the day, and when the battery was arround 5% I did a full charge
- regular usage : 1day ++
- working usage : 8 hours (web apps dev...)
4 hours, use it or not it's awfull...
Wish you got better now

What kind of screen problem? Is it turning on randomly while in stand by or the other way around, turning off while in use?
And for my future reference, how do you do returns in Indonesia? Do you take it to the store or to the service center (or either)? Thanks in advance!

Yes, the screen would randomy turn on/off while in standby.
The other. The tablet would actually power off while i was using it, not just th screen, the entire thing.

its turning on randomly while standby, usually i have to pres power button 3 or 4 times before it went off without turning on again...
i think its not possible to return to the store here, just take to the service centre... but i dont know if they will give new device.. as i know here only apple , blackberry and samsung that will give new device if found defective ..
So my battery completely dies on its on even when im not using it. Because when i receieved a call or text the screen turns on and doesnt turn off at its own. Never had that problem on other phones. Is there a setting im missing???
100% get a text screen stays on leave the phone come back 2 hours later n it drain the battery cuz the screen stayed on the whole time.

I had asked a similar question and found out that no matter what the screen is going to come on when you get a text message. Now it definitely isn't supposed to stay on. That's not normal. I'm sure you have restarted you phone already as it may just be a bug that needs a restart. Another option for you would be to download a third party text program such as handcent.

You didn't happen to go into developers settings and accidentally check the keep screen on while plugged in box did ya? Or try Display settings n see what screen off is set at. I know these are probably obvious things but ya never know, we're only humans and we do miss things sometimes. Hope it helps ya?

Yea thats what i thought screen usually goes off base on the screen time that i set 15 seconds. But the phone screen stays on after 15 seconds of receiving the text i have to press the power button in order to shut the screen which its ok when im around the phone not charge but when i leave in my desk for a while i dont get the chance to turn off the screen so the screen stays on n kills the battery its weird. I even disable the pop out in lockscreen on message settings and still the same. Set the display to turn off at 15 seconds n doesnt help :-/ sucks

Anyone else noticing their tab screen randomly staying on?
It's always the same, screen randomly turns on and stays at the locked screen. It does this until I interact with it, or until it runs the battery dry.
It's sporadic, sometimes when charging or not even touched.
I haven't been able to isolate what triggers the screen to turn on.
One night it was charging face up and it just turned on and stayed on.
The other day, I left it in a drawer fully charged and came back to it completely drained.
Most other times it just happens when it's laying around.
Sometimes it stays on with notifications, sometimes no notifications.
But during the nights, I have it on blocking mode, so notifications wouldn't trigger the screen.
I also made sure daydream mode and stay awake are both off.
At a total loss here.

I was having this issue when I had the brightness turned all the way up. The phone would randomly wake itself up. Try switching your time off to five minutes and turn off the smart stay. Worked for me and fixed my battery issue

My brightness is never all the way off, most of the time it's actually all the way down.
Time off has been switched between all the times, and smart stay has never been on.
Can't seem to figure it out.
