Hi
I have been testing a DesireHD Rom Port to HD2.
I'm posting this just to let you know that if you have Exchange 2010 you may have a problem with DesireHD. (exchange 2007 with sp is ok)
The problem is:
I can sync, contacts, calendar, download emails, delete emails but I can't send emails or download attachment.
It does not show an error it just does not send the email or does not download the attach
This is happening with any Desire HD ROM port I have test .(no problem with regular desire Rom )
I have been search in Google and looks like the problem is that Exchange 2010 has a new ActiveSync protocol EAS 14 and the Desire HD Rom is using this new protocol. Normal desire uses EAS 12
I have found a fix for Iphone 4.0 that was having the same problem.
http://www.jimgoings.com/2010/08/fix-for-iphone-ios-4-and-exchange-2010-active-sync-issues/
Hope this is fixed on the real device..

HI
I don't want to double post..
if anyone is interested, there are more users with the same bug
you can check at

Hope HTC fix this issue with DesireHD.. because if it does not, there is a problem with exchange 2010 and also with any service that using EAS14 like hotmail.com

Received my Desire HD today. I use Exchange 2010 SP1, and can confirm that I cannot send emails or download attachments. If I change the settings to automatically download them or select to download them individually, it does not download - I get a "Network Error" message.
Also, if I link a contact to Facebook or Twitter then contacts stop synching with Exchange - I get a "Sync Protocol Error" message.
I'm very disappointed that HTC's "flagship" product does not work correctly with Exchange 2010.
Everything worked great with the Desire, but Desire HD is very problematic.

Do you have more info about your setup?
Info Need it:
Do you have Exchange 2010 SP1?
Do you have a firewall? ISa Server or TMG?
Can you check if you are using EAS 14 or EAS 12? This info is on OWA /Options/All Options /Phone/ Select the Phone and Details.. Down in the page there is the info
Thanks!
eas14 and unable to send mail, update contacts or download attachements.
This euh ... sucks!
There is an email.apk from stock android 2.2 that does work, but rather see htcemail work.
I've received a disappointingly generic response from HTC today, which really does not answer my issue. I've sent a reply today, so I will probably have to wait another 2 days for a response.
Response from HTC:
Thank you for contacting us
I am sorry that you have been experiencing problem with your handset
please make sure you followed the below steps;
Synchronizing with a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account
You can only add one Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account on your phone. You can sync with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later.
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.
Tap Add account > Exchange ActiveSync.
Enter the Exchange ActiveSync account details, and then tap Next.
Your corporate Exchange Server must support auto-detect for the phone to automatically set up the Exchange ActiveSync account. If your corporate Exchange Server does not support auto-detect, you will need to enter your Exchange Server settings after you tap Next. Ask your Exchange Server administrator for details.
4. Select the types of information you want to synchronize, and then tap Finish setup
Managing your accounts
Changing general sync settings
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.
Select or clear the following:
Background data. If this is selected, applications can send and receive online account information even if you are not currently using them.
Auto-sync. If this is selected, applications can use the sync schedule defined in the account settings. If this is cleared, you will need to sync accounts manually
Changing account settings
You can change settings such as the sync frequency and the types of information synchronized, the kinds of notification you receive, and the way that account information is displayed.
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.
Tap the account that you want to edit.
Edit the account settings.
Synchronizing an account manually
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.
Tap the account that you want to sync.
Tap Sync now.
I've also mailed HTC about this issue, no response yet.
p.s. the response you got is lame; they tell you how to set up the sync but not how to fix their faulty implementation of it.
I've had another reply from HTC. It is as useless as the first reply:
I am sorry that the service is taking more than one occurrence to resolve your problem We advise you to clear the email application from manage applications and restart your phone please Android 2.2 From the Home screen, press the Menu key. Tap Settings. Tap Applications. Tap Manage Applications. Tap All. Tap the application in question. (e-mail ) Tap Clear Data. In addition to this you can deleting and recreating the Exchange sync account on your phone please
I've always had HTC phones for the since Orange SPV in 2002(?). I've never had to contact HTC support before this week. If this is how bad HTC support is then I will never be buying another HTC phone. They've lost my support and custom now. Doesn't look like they will even accept there is an issue synching with Exchange 2010, so no chance of a fix anytime soon.

Same problem here. Can't sync the Calendar from DHD to Exchange and can't send any emails.
I hope there will be a fix soon. Besides calling I practically only use the phone for email and calendar.
Does anybody have a example or general email which I can send to HTC about this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Did you guys installed the new OTA update and tried out if it works with the new software??
Doesn't seem to make a difference...

I need users who are using exchange servers to please do the following for me:
Send yourself a test e-mail from a non exchange account like hotmail, ymail, yahoo, gmail, etc. Or heck, PM me and I'll mail you.
Reply to that e-mail from your Xoom
Note whether or not the reply actually sends or sits in your outbox
Respond here with the following data:
Xoom Model: Wifi / 3G
Android OS should be: 3.1
Exchange Server Version: 2003/2007/2010
Did your reply send: Yes / No
I am using:
Xoom: 3G
Android: 3.1
Exchange: 2003 (SP2)
My reply: Sits in outbox
- New emails work fine.
- Replies sit in outbox.
Worked fine for me.

Thanks, I guess I should look up what a Zimbra server is but I assume that you set it up the same way in the Xoom as an Exchange server account?

Android: 3.1
Exchange: 2007
My reply: sends everytime (assuming connected to wifi )
also, I should ask, have you tried deleting and reconfiguring the mail account?

No I have not, but I will do that right now.
Zimbra is an Open Source alternative to Exchange. Has 90% of all the stuff Exchange does and takes up all of $300.00 bucks a year of our budget. Which I could not pay if I wanted too, but I like it too much not not support development of it. FOSS FTW!
I deleted and reconfigured the account, careful to include DOMAIN/username and use the fully qualified domain name that my SSL certificate is named after and the results were the same:
I can generate new e-mail, which is sent fine.
I cannot respond to e-mail, it sits in the outbox.
Maddening.
Can anyone on Exchange 2003 test this?
I had the same issue last week. I haven't done any further testing, but I do think we have an exchange 2003 server.
Xoom Model: Wifi
Android OS should be: 3.1
Exchange Server Version: 2010
Did your reply send: Yes
Worked fine for me.
I am on:
XOOM (rooted, Tiamat 1.4.2, HC 3.1)
Microsoft Exchange 2003
My reply emails hang in the outbox. They don't send.
i use 2003 SP2. stock unrooted xoom wifi.
all works well.
however, last week i had a 3G launch day (feb 24) xoom and last week *I* had an issue where the emails sat in the outbox. i then, later that day it happened, received a security update OTA from the server. this may have been what the intermittent issue was.
now let me say the emails started flowing thru before i got this update. i would guess my downtime was a couple hours. i did not delete my account. it just "corrected" itself.
ill also add that i have an evo on the same server and it did not stop sending emails at all. so this may be a honey OS thing...

I got fed up of the stock email client and moved to touchdown. The problem i was having was sync weren't working properly, all of a sudden stopped syncing.

I have not tried touchdown but after reading the user reviews I think that the UI will be terrible, and UI is important to me.
So far now, I will make due with being unable to respond to some users until this sorts itself out.
I like the TD UI, it's made for tablets now too (I didn't know that until I bought my Xoom two weeks ago). I use it on my HTC Inc too, and have never had any issues. I think you can use TD as a trial version for 30 days (?) to test it out and see how you'll like it.
We run Exchange 2007, and I use my Xoom 3.1 rooted and Inc rooted with out issues.
Xoom Model: 3G
Android OS: 3.1
Exchange Server Version: 2003 SP2
Did your reply send: No - Hangs in out box, hitting send all now does nothing.
Other bugs noticed:
Text entry cursor seems out of wack, doesn't show up in the same place as the movable green pointer. This also seems the affect the text black selection brackets. Very language (laggy), many edits to this post to make it readable
Wifi oddities with releasing and renewing IPs between two bssids.
Web browser not displaying some dynamic page elements properly, example - there is no scroll bar on this text entry box...making this post even more interesting (I have XDA Premium, but I like to torture myself).
This is all on stock 3.1, non root, locked Xoom
Omg...I give up

I am willing to bet the problem is being caused by the changes made to activesync between ES2K3 and ES2K7. If I had to really guess it has to do with the 3.1's handling of ActiveSync connections and their dependence on policy based permissions inherited from ActiveSync. Unfortunately ActiveSync from ES2K3 did not support the use of ActiveSync policies, that feature was not added until ES2K7. That's why until the release of Exchange 2007 the only truly viable corporate messaging systems were based on BlackBerry servers.
I retired my 2K3 infrastructure 2 years ago, but I believe I still have the virtual machine builds from my test environment I can load up and test the theory.
I have been playing with the S2 and all seems good apart from the email app, when I cnnect to my imap mailbox it downloads the whole lot. Is there a way to limit the number or emails or number of days as I have around 2000+ emails. I could do this on my desire but I am guessing the email app is part of touch wiz as opposed to android.
Thanks
Sohail
I could still do with some advise, I am using maildroid at the moment but would like to use the stock apps if possible as you get the lock screen notifications.
Thanks
Sully
I'm looking for that too. My Desire HD Roms (running on my old HD2) could limit the days that were synced and also the size that was downloaded, both for imap. I could e.g. select sync last 7 days and download only text and 5kb automatically. I can't find any of these options in the SGS2 with my imap accounts.
If you set up your email account as a premium account, it will only download emails from a maximum of a month previous. It will also continue to remove emails (only on the phone, not on the imap server) so that you only see a month. I think you can also restrict it to a day or week also.
Thanks for the info but the app refuses to setup imap on m account I get error
Internal Error
An Error occurred. Please try again (100)
I have check my mailserver logs and can see the phone authenticating

Hi folks,
I have a great problem. I have connected my Galaxy SII with our Exchange server. When I am trying to forward an email with an attachment, it downloads the whole attachment first and then sends it to the recipient.
On my HD2 with an Android Rom it forwards the email directly over the exchange server.
I am running the standard Samsung T-Mobile Ger Rom.
not anyone with an idea?

Same issue here:
sgs2 with Windows SBS 2003 (Exchange 2003) -> Forwarding working normally
sgs2 with Windows SBS 2011 (Exchange 2010) -> Attachment being downloaded first
Strange behaviour, if anybody find a fix...
Hi Guys!!
Bought the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.. After being using iphone since the first one..
So far the transaction has been ok even though I'm completed out once when you guys talk about Roms, Kernel etc... I knew how to jailbreak etc but once I'm new on this android world, can someone help me and give me the basics?
Can someone please also mention to me the best website to download apps for free?
The 2nd thing that I would need your help with is something that actually has an high importance for me.. In the iPhone I was using an app that had the name Inbox Pro and that help me to connect and arrange the emails by synchronizing with my company owa website.. Basically at first I would log in manually.. Then it saved the details and all the times that I was then opening the application, would synchronize automatically without the need of inserting my domain, username, password... And also it arranged the email in a very , user-friendly way, just like the email app that comes with the iOS...
Well, after searched in the google play, found this : Outlook Mobile Access Lite OWA
I did download and paid for it.. But is not working!!! Can't synchronize.. I don't waste more of my money for nothing..
Anyone that can help me with this?
Regards,
JV
Please try touchdown app for email. It can connect to your email exchange server.
Tried and tested.

Hi!
My website is owa.marriott.com
So, there are different steps.. First I have to select Generic or Individual log in... Then insert the email.. Then page domain/username and password...So 3 steps are involved.. this is why not easy to find an app to do this.. In box pro did it...
The Outlook Mobile Access Lite OWA doesn't let me after the page i have to insert the email.. When i insert the email to proceed, click submit but doesn't move...
Touchdown didn't work too.. should be one that I can manually log in.. then would save the details...
Any help solution please?
Please find attached pictures so you can see the 3 steps I have to follow any time i need to log in...
Please help..
JV
The stock E-Mail App that comes with the phone (E-Mail) has Exchange Support and works perfectly fine for me. I used it with Exchange 2010 and am now using it with two 2013 accounts.
Go to settings, rightmost tab, accounts, add account, choose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, then proceed with your login and password and possibly servername etc.
