problems - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

im trying to nand flash typhoon. and i intsalled clockwork. and when i click boot ad sd it says sd kernel not opened. i have spl 2.08 and hdspl3. and mgldr1.13. any suggestions?

You're supposed to go to AD recovery with the latest version of CWM, not boot ad sd.

probably why it doesnt work..

Did you copy the CWM files to your SD card (either the root or in a subfolder) and set the AD SD Boot Dir in MAGLDR respectively?
You don't need to copy those files to SD with CWM 1.13 just flash is and on the magdlr 1.3 screen select the AD recovery option.

Replace Magldr with Clockwork Mod

Is there some way I can keep clockwork in nand instead of magldr?
No, you need mgldr to use cwm.
for info, CWM is in nand also.
Whichever version of CWM you use you need to use magldr. Prior to M1.13 CWM was kept on the SD card and booted as "AD SD". With M1.13 you can flash CWM to the NAND. To get CWM on NAND first flash M1.13 (thread here). Then pick a parition layout that works for the ROM of your choice and flash the appropriate CWM package from here. Then you can boot into recovery from MAGLDR by selecting AD RECOV.
"for info, CWM is in nand also."
Yes, but you need zimage and intrd.gz on SD to make cwm boot. Thats what I want to fix.

With magldr 1.13 and cwm 1.3, you don't.

+1, nothing on SD now. But it's true that all these evolutions goes so fast... not easy to follow
Do you guys have any ideea why, after flashing a DFT rom (dandiest 3.4 desire z), CWM won't launch anymore when I try AD Recovery in Magldr?

because you can only have either DFT ROM OR CWM installed...not both...DFT ROM will overwrite CWM mode.

[Q] Having WP7/SD Android AND CWM recovery?

Excuse the n00b question, but is there a way to have WP7, SD Android, and Clockworkmod Recovery at the same time? I'm wondering because I was trying to install a zip to fix my GPS on AmeriCanAndroid, and the post said to use CWM, however when I tried to enter CWM (via rom manager AND through AD Recovery on MAGLDR) it said "no boot sources". As a solution I just copied the files over to the proper directories in android from the zip, but is there a way to do have all 3? Thanks!
Nevermind...got my answer from the CWM thread
In case anyone else wonders, I just followed the procedure to do the old boot from SD card and it worked. Got all 3 now and am quite pleased! Here's my info:
TMOUS HD2
HardSPL 2.08
MAGLDR 1.13
Radio 2.15
WP7: Xbmod 1.11
Android: AmeriCanAndroid 06/09 build
CWM: 3.1.0.0

CWM Backup help needed

Hey,
(I currently use Hyperdroid ROM on my HD2 and since my WIFI connection to the router isnt working since yesterday i wanted to install a new ROM)
I already tried to do a Backup once, but it didn't work.
To create a complete backup of the phone I need to get into CWM. Normally you get there thrue ROM Manager or by "AD Recovery" in the Boot Loader.
For some reason both dont work. even though in installed CWM 3.1.0.0 with Rom Manager.
Last time I tried to do a Backup i flashed CWM in the bootloader, since it wouldn't start - not knowing i wasn't able to boot Android anymore.
Now my question: Where is my mistake? Do I need a certain file on my SD Card that i deleted mistakingly?
I hope my problem is understandable.
Thanks in advance

Why did you flash CWM through Rom Manager rather than using the Daf.exe which comes with the CWM package or the HD2 NAND toolkit? If I am not mistaken, Rom Manager and MAGLDR are not compatible (by which I mean flashing CWM through Rom Manager).
If you just want to install apps, use Titanium Backup from the Android Market, it's free and does the job well.
go there [RECOVERY][NAND|SD][cLK|MAGLDR] ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6 "YES/NO" STABLE
follow teh instructions for the sd card version of cwm, (load teh extracted files to sd, simple)
magldr - ad sd
this boots cwm from the sd card
use that to make your backup
magldr - usb flasher - reflash the phone with the latest nand cwm and partition layout (that same thread, above)
restart the phone
magldr - ad recovery
cwm - reflash your rom
cwm - backups and restore - advanced restore - restore data and sd-ext
rom manager doesnt play nice with magldr, clk only.

If i do that, will I still be able to boot into Android afterwards?

Doesn't reboot into recovery

I installed ROM manager, then tried to back up my HD. It requested I install clockworkmod, but the installation hung. The second attempt was successful, but I cannot reboot into recovery mode. It just reboots normally. If I power on holding the power button it goes into the MAGLDR menu. If I select AD Recover it says:
ANDROID LOAD RAW
ERROR: ERROR: Cannot read ramdisk image
How can I get clockworkmod working without wiping my device?
Thanks
You corrupted the recovery partition by using rom manager,, it doesn't work with magldr.
Find the clockwork thread with "yes/no " in the title, from there get both the SD version and the cwm version ,,put the cwm.zip onto the SD, and also unzip the SD version to the root of SD, then into magldr, "boot ad SD" to start the SD version of cwm then use that to "flash zip from SD"(just like a normal flash) and select the cwm.zip. this will reflash the ad recovery nand partition without affecting the rom

Thanks, I understand. Is it not worth installing ROM manager at al then if I'm running magldr?
I originally installed/paritioned using the DAF.exe version of CLK 150MB 44MB cache. The ROM only requires 150MB 2MB cache. Am I loosing out on space with this size cache. Partitioning using HD2 Toolkit doesn't work on my device. magldr or clk doesn't boot properly afterwards.
Thanks
The cache is only used by cwm, so yea, 44 is way plenty. I normally give it 5.

Just found out I can change flash.cfg for DAF.exe. That helps a lot! All working and backed up now. So I'll go for a repartition. The helps greatly appreciated!
