Is there some way I can keep clockwork in nand instead of magldr?
No, you need mgldr to use cwm.
for info, CWM is in nand also.
Whichever version of CWM you use you need to use magldr. Prior to M1.13 CWM was kept on the SD card and booted as "AD SD". With M1.13 you can flash CWM to the NAND. To get CWM on NAND first flash M1.13 (thread here). Then pick a parition layout that works for the ROM of your choice and flash the appropriate CWM package from here. Then you can boot into recovery from MAGLDR by selecting AD RECOV.
"for info, CWM is in nand also."
Yes, but you need zimage and intrd.gz on SD to make cwm boot. Thats what I want to fix.

With magldr 1.13 and cwm 1.3, you don't.
Sent from my HD2 Droid HD using XDA App
+1, nothing on SD now. But it's true that all these evolutions goes so fast... not easy to follow
Do you guys have any ideea why, after flashing a DFT rom (dandiest 3.4 desire z), CWM won't launch anymore when I try AD Recovery in Magldr?

because you can only have either DFT ROM OR CWM installed...not both...DFT ROM will overwrite CWM mode.

after I flash with CWM, I get this when it trys to boot android "nand kernel open failed"
Also, in CWM, I get "E:Can't find misc"
installing nand without CWM works.
bump- I searched and didn't find anything helpful. I've tried 3 different roms
"Can't find misc" should only appear if you don't have a misc partition in NAND. (which is created when flashing CWM)
And nand kernel open failure probably means theres no zImage or initrd.gz in the boot partition.
Try flashing CWM from the CWM thread and then a ROM.

How did you transfer the zip file to SD? Did you use magldr? If so try re-transfering using your comp, as Magldr sometimes corrupts them.

Bump.
Did a clean install of TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.3.1 and got the "nand kernel open failed" error.
I formated the SD-Card two times, reinstall cwm 150mb partition 3 times and still get the same error, first time within almost 1 year of android on my HD2 ._.
Any ideas or solutions welcome.
and another bump and sorry for my bad english =)
i get the "nand kernel open failed" error too.
i installed radio and hspl 2.08
then flashed MAGLDR 1.13
continued with CWM (250mb)
then formated my sd-card und put TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 on it
after installation, i get the error.
redid all 2 times now, nothing works.

Likewise i am getting it with hyperdroid v12
I've just got it with HD2 NDT MIUI GINGER ROM V13.0 Multilang :/ I reinstalled magldr, clm and the rom and formated in clm but still get the error! :S

Typhoon doesn't use 250mb CWM, use the one provided with rom 150MB System/5MB Cache (ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.5), most "nand kernel open failed" are down to wrong CWM size
I'm getting the same error, but only with sense 3.0 roms. Any other roms I've used have installed have worked. Is there a certain step I'm missing with installing sense 3.0 roms? I'm using MAGLDR v1.13 and Clockwork Recovery Mod v3.0.2.5. I flashed recovery_150m_cache_5m.zip onto the phone using magldr usb flasher. Any ideas?

150mb for sense rom is definitely to low!
Read the rom's thread carefully guys!
It says there what CWR partition is needed.
Sense roms need SD CARD PARTITION so read the thread (it's first page).
If you have read it and your CWR partition looks exactly as it was given in the rom's thread then do task29, hspl, magldr 1.13 and CWR.
If it still doesn't work try different roms or try CLK.
Thanks for the response. How do I create a 5/240/5 partition through CWR? The last partition I made was just installed through .zip on CWR. Sorry for the questions, new to the hd2.
do all beginners understand this? you are probably putting the 'clk' version of the rom in your storage card for installation. you need the 'magdlr' version of the rom for clockwork mod to correctly install android

Hi guys, i had the same problem, and i figured maybe i can show u what i did, to help u.
i went to THIS thread and followed the instructions:
"Installation Guide for MAGLDR 1.13"
the error occured right after i flashed the MAGLDR_CWM_Recovery_v3.2.0.0_for_NexusHD2_135M.zip onto my HTC HD2.
the only thing i had to do was enter magldr boot menu (hold off button while booting)
then i choose AD RECOVERY
CWM started up and i choose install zip from SD card
ofcourse i have placed NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V3.0_NAND_(Android-2.3.5).zip onto the ROOT of my SD card previously.
the .zip file installed perfectly and then i rebooted my phone.
all was ok after that..
hope this helps!

You have to partition your SD card (gparted/ubuntu...)
1st: fat32 put the rom-zip into the root of this partition
2nd: ext4 1GB
3rd: ext4 400MB
4th: linux swap
Install CWR via MAGLDR like flashing a NAND rom (DAF etc...)
reboot, enter MAGLDR and goto boot AD SD - now U enter CWR
and then follow the steps as mentioned in the rom thread. (chose ZIP dfrom SD card... install... reboot...)
Good luck
It´s quite easy.
The above post will work UNLESS you use one of the cwm 1.3 partitions. Using cwm 1.3 puts the recovery files on NAND (so no need to copy files to the root of your sd card for recovery to work. In order to boot into Recovery you need to select AD Recovery instead of Boot AD SD

Hello, I'm having problems trying to change roms, I have mgldr 1.3 clockwork 150 partition and it flashed fine I can do a backup of my current miui rom from miui-dev.com but when I go to flash a new one it flashes like normal, but when it reboots I get a kernel error and it takes me to the magldr screen, have found no answer, any suggestions? Thanks
make sure the new ROM you are trying to flash is not for cLK.
When on CWM go to "mounts and storage" and sellect "format boot"
If those don't work, then the ROM dev did something wrong.
edit: make sure the CWM partitioning have for /boot about 8M (other builds are using 5M but MIUI needs 8M)
Both I've tried are clk lol are cwr roms obsolete now?

There are 2 bootloaders for HD2
MAGLDR and cLK.
You have MAGLDR so you should download ROMs made for MAGLDR.

No cwm is not obsolete, you just don't yet understand what you are being told.
Both magldr and clk allow cwm roms to flash BUT if you have magldr you download magldr cwm roms, and if you have clk then you download clk cwm roms.
A good example is the typhoon rom,,, in that thread are two roms to download, the magldr version and the clk version, , both are the same rom, and both are cwm zip roms, but the clk wont work on a hd2 running magldr, and the magldr version wont work on a hd2 running clk.
Got it thanks
Hey,
(I currently use Hyperdroid ROM on my HD2 and since my WIFI connection to the router isnt working since yesterday i wanted to install a new ROM)
I already tried to do a Backup once, but it didn't work.
To create a complete backup of the phone I need to get into CWM. Normally you get there thrue ROM Manager or by "AD Recovery" in the Boot Loader.
For some reason both dont work. even though in installed CWM 3.1.0.0 with Rom Manager.
Last time I tried to do a Backup i flashed CWM in the bootloader, since it wouldn't start - not knowing i wasn't able to boot Android anymore.
Now my question: Where is my mistake? Do I need a certain file on my SD Card that i deleted mistakingly?
I hope my problem is understandable.
Thanks in advance

Why did you flash CWM through Rom Manager rather than using the Daf.exe which comes with the CWM package or the HD2 NAND toolkit? If I am not mistaken, Rom Manager and MAGLDR are not compatible (by which I mean flashing CWM through Rom Manager).
If you just want to install apps, use Titanium Backup from the Android Market, it's free and does the job well.
go there [RECOVERY][NAND|SD][cLK|MAGLDR] ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6 "YES/NO" STABLE
follow teh instructions for the sd card version of cwm, (load teh extracted files to sd, simple)
magldr - ad sd
this boots cwm from the sd card
use that to make your backup
magldr - usb flasher - reflash the phone with the latest nand cwm and partition layout (that same thread, above)
restart the phone
magldr - ad recovery
cwm - reflash your rom
cwm - backups and restore - advanced restore - restore data and sd-ext
rom manager doesnt play nice with magldr, clk only.

but i install ( MAGLDR_CWM_Recovery_v3.2.0.0_for_NexusHD2_135M ) to update my Rom.
did you mean that if i install recovery i partition phone ?
for nand install: in hd2 toolkit, you just choose partition size for magldr, click repartition and toolkit will repartition AND install recovery.

well, nand kernel open failed is because you don't have nand android. just in magldr find the setting to choose ad sd as default os. then reboot should work correctly.
you can't flash zips in roms. this is why they are flashed from recovery. if ad recovery shows nothing, then recovery is not correctly installed. partition your phone with hd2 toolkit and ad recovery should work.
btw, this is not "my" patch. it's the same patch tytung has in the rom's OP, but i only modded it to work on nativeSD. and the first time i tried it i accidently deleted the rom from my phone

i format my SD card and make 2 partition ( fat32 + EXT4) and copy 4EXT recovery to my SD, used took it to wipe - flash maglder and Rom, No problem at all, but when i try to flash zip file such as arabic patch, restart my phone - magldr menu - ad recovery ..... nothing load
where is the problem ?
@e_m_e2000 omg. just go to settings in magldr, set ad sd location to 4ext recovery. now boot ad sd. it will boot 4ext recovery. use THIS recovery to flash any zip to native sd, because you haven't partitionned your phone and DON"T have AD RECOVERY. so ad recovery will not work UNLESS you repartition using hd2 toolbox.
just boot 4ext with ad sd menu, flash the fix and reboot. in magldr re-set ad sd back to nativeSD folder to boot the rom.
each time you want to flash a zip, you must use 4ext recovery. ad recovery cannot work without partitionning

after i flash cwm i can flash any zip file, you advise me to leave that or re flash that Rom and follow your steps for flash Arabic patch
well you can install an android rom after repartitionning on your phone.
if you repartition, you will be able to use ad recovery instead of 4ext recovery on sd.
if you repartition, booting ad sd will boot your rom. no need to reflash it or the fix.
you can after repartitionning install this rom using dataonext, your apps and settings should be preserved, but you will need to reflash the ORIGINAL arabic patch, not the one i provided for nativeSD
