Hi Guys,
Please help/advice how to proceed further in using Android in HTC HD2 with ScanDisk 8GB SD in HTC HD2 stock ROM.
1> Downloaded MCCM HD V4.0 ROM and copied Android content to the sdcard root directory.
2> Used HaRET to start and got the console started. But it stuck for hours after displaying few lines ending with "Jumping to Kernel(custom)...."
Wanted to try Android in HTC HD2 using SD card without disturbing my STOCK WM.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Karthi
It looks like it can't find the appropriate file. Is the Rom in the root of the sd card? Make sure that it is in the root of sd card under a folder named "Android" (w/o the quotations of course).

Hi Thanks for the reply.
Yes. Andriod folder is created in the root folder only. Inside the Andriod folder i have other files like HaRET.exe etc. Basically i copied the Andriod folder from the archive as it is to the SD card root.
Thanks.

I know this questions are very basic...
1.Are first running CLRCAD and then HARET?
2.Are you using the HD2 stock Rom?
3.Do you have Hardsspl?
4.What is the version of your rom radio?
I am using MCCM HD 4.0 it runs great.
make sure you have radio above 2.08.50

Usually after 3-4 reboots the battery use stabilizes at a normal value. At least it always has for me. What I recommend doing is always rebooting several times after a new install.
hello
i tried this rom for hours and hours formatted the sd and made sure everything thing else was set up but it just got stuck during the boot setup and i never got to try it out.
i would still like to try it but i just got irritated and went for a different rom instead
so if you get this to work let me know what you did

Hi,
I Followed the steps as mentioned below.
1> Install HardSPL (1 to 2 mins to install)
2> Update the HTC Leo radio (Appx 6 mins to install)
3> Copy the Android to SD card
4> Execute the CLRCAD & HaRET. Once the screen goes to console mode and after few lines u should see HTC green logo and should be up and running in max 15 min s(depending on ur SD card speed).
For me all settings like the discovery of Wi-Fi / 3G / Data connections was configured in a blink .
Still have the issue like battery drain.
Regards.

OK FELLAS,
i'm not a noob. been flashing for a while now and am pretty much tech savvy, but this one has me for a loop. recently, my phone just started doing this; i can install and launch any and all android builds so readily available here from the XDA chefs. EVEN the DARKSTONE DESIRE HD BETA 2 worked and i played with it for an hour or so. HERE IS THE PROBLEM; i used to in the beginning be able to boot android over and over and over with my android launcher icon thats built into the current energy rom im using. (24631 04 sep) however now after a reboot, I run into a brick wall with the prompt that reads "cant find rootfs. you need to unzip a rootfs file to your memory card. job control turned off"
here are the things i have tried to remedy this:
1. format card= didnt fix
2. try a different card= i have 3 different cards; this didnt fix it either.
Only thing i havent tried which i am reluctant to try is task 29 and reload the WINMO ROM.
ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE EXPERIENCING THIS AND IF SO, HOW DID YOU FIX IT?

What Rom radio you using?
Are you using an auto boot or multiboot
Are you renaming the folder to Android and putting that folder on root? And dies your startup file read rel_path=android
If all correct
Seems like task29
And new Rom radio is the answer

ALSO AN UPDATE; REFLASHED 24631 UPDATED DATE,TIME,QUICK GPS, AND THEN GET THIS; IT BOOTED DESIRE HD ROM SUPER QUICK BUT OTHER BUILD IM USING Core_Droid_V.0.2 STILL DIDNT WORK. IM GONNA TRY DROPPING ANOTHER ROOTFS.IMG ON THE CARD AND TRY AGAIN.
I had a similar problem, the problem was that I had unzipped the contents of the "android" folder to the root of my SDcard. What I should have done was copy the folder to the root of the SDcard, after I did this it worked perfectly
I have the same problem here, but not only with the DARKSTONE DESIRE HD BETA 2 ROM. A lot Android ROMs boots great the first time, but after a phone reboot I was unable to boot the Android ROM again.
It shows me these message: "cant find rootfs. you need to unzip a rootfs file to your memory card. job control turned off" or the boot loader freezed completely with some stripes on the screen. any ideas?
RAIDO: 2.08.50.05
ROM: Artemis 30.0 GER (5.2.23576)
Update:
Got a solution from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788764
Just extract your DARKSTONE DESIRE HD BETA 2 ROM into "/Storage Card/Android" and boot it. done!
All you have to do is delete the android folder everytime you boot up android. I was running into the same thing after the initial setup worked good but wouldn't boot back after I went back to windows.

weird.. have you tried formating your card? and make sure u copy all the things that come with the download on there. which winMo rom u running? the radio i think it shouldnt matter. has to do with the sd card.. how much memory u have available?
Hated it anyway.. Always the wrong prefix before my numbers..

Hi Guys,
Kinda similar problem... Hopefully I can share more details.
Im using an Australian Telstra HD2 (T-mobile_leo) Energy.Leo.21916.Sense2.5.Oct.08 with radio 2.12.50.02
The droid build Im using is Mdeejay FroYo Z v.1.1|1.31.405.1|kernel: hastarin R7.5
Formatted, booted, installed some stuff, rebooted again and all seemed well.
But I use phone as a storage device (and have done it before with no issues) then tnings seem to go to poo hell.
OS gets slow and on restart, the launch stalls on the HTC screen and will not progress any further.
Really enjoy the android builds and this is the 2nd build that has done this on my phone.
Any ideas on what I can do to recover?
For the ones having problems on getting stuck on HTC boot image with mdeejay roms, try downloading a data.img from here http://www.multiupload.com/GZ1JUZBYJI and copy it in the /sdcard/android/
( inside android folder ). It should take around 2 minutes to boot after that.
Also try to use a 2.10 or 2.12 radio.
copied the file into the android folder (which was supiciously empty) and pulled the battery 10 min later.
Have I got the right folder or do I need to replace the 1GB .img in the root?
Make sure that inside that folder you have every file found in the .zip folder downloaded from any of the builds threads. ( there should be 10-11 folders+files)
You can either replace it or try and find a 1gb data.img file from here http://www.multiupload.com/BJ2FXF9IRM ( just to make sure ), maybe you already have the right file, but I dont know that
I tested both sizes 512Mb and 1 Gb and both worked ok.
Thanks for the help Viperd.
I bit the bullet this time and reformatted (just because I needed a phone and gps ) but I have grabbed the image files and a quick script to check the files on the card the next time this happens
I am facing a strange problem with every android rom i am using.
When i open the haret.exe to run the android then boot screen stops at this error.ss
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
and then nothing happens. i have to take to take out battery and insert again to use wm and den if i again try to run android then same problem occurs.
But if i delete all folders in sd card of android rom except 1gb data.img and den extract all folders back in sd card den it starts working..
But again it wont work on next restart or shut down..
any idea..???
using energy rom oct radio 2.07.50.27_2

Here are some steps i prompted.
1. Format your SD card by using the Format Option at your phone.
2. Run a Stock ROM from HTC, download a ROM update from the HTC website.
3. Always use a Radio 2.08 or above.
So what you are gonna do is as follow.
Format your SD card, install a fresh original ROM from HTC. After that remove the black plate, and press the RED button for 5 seconds. After that install Radio 2.15 it can be found trough Google. Then put Android folder in the root of your SD card, and run the *****!

NO luck.. i tried it but again same problem. booting stops at same error.
but few new lines comes after adding that line which are as follow
Failed to find rootfs on sd card, you need to unzio a rootfs zip file to the root of your sd card
** it is already present on the root of my sd card..
Strange problem....
My you need to try another SD Card or something? May some files get corrupted by your phone? Cause it seems to boot without problems at the first time, but after that it won't fire up anymore. You tried the Android i listed in my last post already? I can upload it to my host if you want, so you dont need to wait for ages to get the download complete.

try these steps in running Android, never failed me everytime
you need to have
1. HSPL
2. SDcard formatted with SD Formatter from Panasonic
3. at least an Android friendly WINMO ROM (though some people have reported being
able to run android on the latest stock 3.14 ROM)
as you have a really strange problem
i suggest you do a Task 29 on your device, before flashing the winmo ROM
Your problem is your using 2.07 radio. You need 2.08 and higher. This is discussed in almost every build thread if this section.

When I try to load a custom build of Android, it proceeds like it has already booted before, eg just a few lines of text, vs a bunch of text like the first time I booted Android (The stock desire build) Is this normal?

If you flash just a radio then you will not lose anything on your device. If you flash a ROM (either on its own or with a radio) then it has the same effect as a factory reset - you lose all apps and data.
Look for just a suitable radio if you don't want to flash a ROM.
This is about the CustomRUU.exe file running through active sync..
Hi,
I'm back I have fixed the problem.
@ my hd2 is the spl version 3.00 installed also I can't install the hspl and i can't update the radio (my oem radio is 2.18).
I have only uploaded the android files to the card an run it. After 9 minutes the device restarted and now is froyo with sense running on my phone.

Firstly there are 2 ways of running Android, 1st via sd card and 2nd via NAND memory. The option you choose depends on whether or not you still want to use winmo. If so you need to use the sd card based Android builds. If you only want to use Android then you need to go the NAND based Android build approach.
As you mention running clrcad and haret I'm assuming you want to use the dual bot method, ie both winmo and Android. You will then need to device which Android build you want to try (from the Android SD dev forum) and carefully read the first few posts to see the dev's instructions, but in most cases you need to download and unzip the rom and copy the Android folder to the root of your sd card. In the NRG roms, clicking on the launch Android icon he includes in his build will run the clrcad and haret automatically and boot to Android.
thanx for your reply..thats the thing when i hit launch android it wont go...so when i copy the folder do i download everything even if it says its already on an if installed it might not work? thats where im lost
Try formatting the sd card completely so that there are no funnies on the card, copy the entire Android folder to the sd card root and you can ignore the warning about files that may not work etc.
ok ill give it a try
when you format your sd card will it erase the NRG rom and then you have to put it back on there?

Did you give it some time? I would ask the question in the thread for the actual rom you are using. Other users may have a solution for you.

Good, so you've formatted your sd card and copied the android build, clrcad and haret.exe files to the root....Tapping clrcad (to run) doesn't show any visible signs but its actually working in background, then tap haret...u should see haret loading up & a bunch of text briefly (depends d android build)...The htc screen u saw means d android build is working silently in d background so give it some time...check d android build's page for how long you should wait..(most tk abt 8-20mins, i use nand now so i'm not so sure).....if the above still doesn't work for you, then u should try using d various android/winmo dual-booting cab files out there...
P.S. Devs say its best u load up android within 3 secs of loading WinMo, so be as fast as u can...u could also try disabling htc sense to give a quicker loading time....If dat still doesn't work, then u might have to reflash an android-friendly WinMo ROM.
lol i dont think i gave it enough time..kinda impatient but i got it at the htc screen right now..im using the froyostone v4.0 build

Just go to sd development section, it should be on the 2nd page of that section. Try core evo v0.8 by sergio76 or evo carbon remix by motoman.
By the way, what sd card do you have? Model, make, size, class.
