That icon means your phone is in download mode, plug it in to your computer and run odin
I had this happen to me. The way I fixed it was by taking out the battery then plugging it into the USB cable. It then allowed me to boot up in download mode like normal and I was able to Odin back to stock.
Hope this helps!!
Worked! Thanks!

I tried to flash the froyo bootloaders (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990 ) on my phone using odin and odin showed a fail sign. I disconnected the phone restarted odin but my phone rebooted itself and now shows a phone ! computer sign in the corner. It will not connect to odin at all. Am I 100% screwed? Can I still use odin? Can I just call Tmobile and say "my computer turned off while I was updating to froyo"?

Phone ! PC is just like Download Mode.
Try opening ODIN before connecting the phone, and turning it on, it should detect the phone.

Hi I installed the root for my s 4 i9505 but i used the i9500 and now it is stuck on the kies thing. I was wondering if there was anything i could do and also if someone has the pit partition for the h3g stock rom i could try that way. Any help is appreciated.
Try to flash back your stock Rom with odin, should be fine.

i have tried that but it keeps on saying there is no pit partition. Do you know where i could get the pit file?
you don't need to get complicated. just download an official firmware that is Odin compatible, and then install in odin (open is as PDA).
before that, shut down the phone (keep power pressed). restart in download mode (volume down, menu then power), with cable plugged out. you will go to the download screen. connect the cable, start odin... and there you are... (at least this is what I did with mine when I got stacked to the kies screen)

good luck!
and maybe, if that does not work, an forced update via kies might still do the job....

How do i do a forced update via kies? Kies does not recognise my phone when i have it connected. Should i try connecting the usb to the back of the computer rather than the front?

I don't know exactly what that would do.
You cannot flash another kernel, as there is none yet.
You need to be in download mode for kies to recognize (volume down, home, power). It should work to do Emergency firmware recovery in Tools.
Anyway, I am quite sure that running from Odin works. Have you tried to follow the steps I mentioned?

No still at work finish in 20 mins. I have tried all that yesterday but Odin still kept on saying no partition thing and kies I did the emergency firmware recovery but it did not connect to the phone. I will try again but this time connect the usb to the back of the computer.
Do not flash with re-partition only in an EXTREME case !

what will it do if i do? as i am getting frustrated as then the phone will be a £600 paperweight
Repartition is supposedly going to wipe all data on your phone, but it's also a death button that makes you ODIN freeze and making your phone not boot up so proceed with extreme caution
It uses the .pit file to repartition the space the pit file holds how much to allocate to /system, /data. If you leave it blank and flash, it'll drop the files your flashing into the existing 'slots'. If you select the pit file and repartition, it'll reallocate.
Only select that if the instructions for your rom require you to do it.
Thanks it works. I put the usb lead at the back of my pc and installed the stock rom thanks for your help guys

Hi all,
I have an I9505 from O2 and I was in Odin mid-flash throwing on Philz Touch when the cable got disconnected (kids) and now I'm getting an error on my phone I can't seem to undo. It's showing me a screen as soon as it begins to boot that reads "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery modde in Kies and try again.". I've tried running Kies as it suggests and my computer doesn't even register the phone connecting to begin with let alone Kies noticing the connection. I've tried to go into recovery mode (vol up + power) but it just gives me the same message. Please tell me I didn't brick this thing... is there any voodoo I can do to fix this? Thanks for any help you can give.

you meant that you can not boot in odin mode?
if you can, what odin says when flashing?

Can you still get in download mode? You may need to flash the whole firmware again then flash the recovery after. I've had the same problem on an s2 in the past with my son pulling the cable halfway through

Would a USB jig work?
You have to boot to download mode and install full firmware through Odin.
You can download your carriers firmware from Sammobile.com

Strike that, it worked! I've been at this for hours with no luck but I guess the phone gods are now in my favour. Unfortunately when I try to flash with Odin, I get failure messages and my phone stays in the Downloading part. Any advise?

Aslong as odin says fail or pass and you definitely do not have a progress bar on your phone after odin shows the result then you will be safe to unplug amd reboot the phone manually. If it passes on odin it usually reboots itself

It would appear my phone is f'd. I can't install anything via Odin because it fails every time (I've tried every USB port and to no avail). I try to boot into recovery and it goes into download mode. I try to do a factory reset and it goes into download mode as well. I'm at my wits end here. Please help.
Thanks.

Be sure you have the latest Samsung driver for your phone on your PC. That will cause your phone not to show up when connect to your PC.
hi, I tried rooting my phone but it failed halfway through, now it's in firmware recovery mode, when i run kies it just constantly says connecting, have i bricked my phone

Download Odin if you don't already have it and the matching firmware for your model put phone in download mode and flash with firmware should bring you back
Don't panic!
Firstly, make sure you have the correct drivers so that Windows can see your phone (search on here).
Secondly, if Kies won't work, Odin probably will. Odin (again, search on here for it) allows you to flash any Samsung firmware to your phone (Search sammobile.com for firmwares, but MAKE SURE you get firmware for the correct version of Note 4).
Hope this helps.
ive downloaded the correct firmware for my phone now what do i do in odin
I'm at work at the moment, so I can't spend too much time on here, but this should help you out:

my phone keeps disconnecting then connecting while i connected to odin
Try setting everything up in Odin, and then connecting your phone (in Download mode). Wait for the connection to be recognised by Odin, then click the button to start the flashing. Always works for me.

sorted it just didn't like my laptop, I'm going to try and root it again
Glad you got it sorted out, and good luck with rooting your phone.
ive rooted but it starts up ok but it keeps restarting itself, when it starts up it has yellow writing at the top saying "getting Warranty bit : kernel" it vibrates once then vibrates again as it normally does when booting up. it's working ok now
