DFT - Next WP7 release with tens of fixes and tweaks - Expected When? - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

So,
any grapevine? Any info flying around about when the next edition of DFT / some other awesome developer is out on WP7 - HD2?

Well for a start you can try going to their site if u can read Chinese, or you can use the two alternative custom roms found
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938083

oh yea, about those roms... do they fix battery issues? They both look the same

My battery has been running great and i think the battery indicator has been fixed.
Im running the 1.00.00 version since it was the first listed, didnt really look into the moonlight

Well, looks like this is will be the best for now! *sigh*
Anyone with inside info (in english ) on dft's next plans (with hd2 )

I installed ml, just my luck but im guessing since they both have reg fixes, it must be common to both, will respond with the battery life review.
Anyone with Moonlight roms battery reports?

i am using Moon light now battery seems better than wm6.5

I´m using the moonlight ROM too, great stuff...
Guess it won´t take too much time to port the "official" update itself over to HD2, as the most difficult part seems to be done. But, the jailbreak thing might be another barrier... Chevron won´t work anymore as they say.
For me, the unusable camera is the worst part of the current build... I am perfectly fine with the rest, it´s much better than a stock WinMo ever was. As a matter of fact, it´s even good for everyday use.

I realy think that a new build from dft will come shortly after the official update...
For now I'm shortly back to Android until thoses three bug aren't corrected :
camera focus , loud sound (I think that done in moonlight) , and touchscreen
....

Mine is MaxSense Energy. Quickest ROM I've used, most frequently updated, I haven't had to soft reset my device because of it once. Very reliable, imo
My personal favorite is the "Energy" rom... Same reasons stated above... Updated every few days it seems, very fast, stable, and looks "pretty"... Plus I get a great battery life...
Forget the ROM upgrading madness.
Check my sig.
Mine so far is Deepshining's Roms. They run smooth and battery is good. I changed to Energy cht (Dinik) rom for a few weeks loved some of the apps cooked in and really cool looking but i had to soft reset more than normal and my battery life did not last as long as i would like. i never got sod's but the reseting was killing me so i went back to Deepshining a few days ago and back to happiness!! Im not knocking energy roms but it just didnt work for me.
So i would say Deepshining is my fav at the moment, i have been looking at seeM_ZA rom, simplicity. Cause i want something with the basics and cht cooked in but that rom has no Facebook so im just a lurker for now.
hello everybody the best rom is energy rom is excelent the best

With 1.3a, GPS works like charm. And with little bit of registry editing you get your 6.1 start menu with manila programs tab enabled. I just love the rom. Allthough Jackos has build it for maximum ram efficiency, the rom is the fastest i've used. I suggest you to try it. It sets the bar high for other roms.
Big thanks to the developer!
Deepshining for me. Its the first rom I tried and I havent tried another. Battery life is good, its stable and its updated in good time. No soft resetting issues or sods
I've tested all tp2 roms and have to say that Jackos showLITE is the best...
E N E R G Y R O M is the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stock WM 6.5
I am very,very satisfied with original,stock WM 6.5 ROM.
It runs flawlessly. No objections.
NRGZ28's most recent Cookie Energy ROM
ive been using the JackFull v1.4 rom since release Aug. 01, 2010. absolutly no major issues you find in the other mainstream roms. (sod's, memory leaks, power drainage) the rom is very smooth. the chef, jackos, is dedicated to his thread and helps resolve any issues promptly. on a fresh install, i get 310mb of storage and 95-100mb of ram. its a great "lite" rom for you to build on. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=632617
Mine is the simplicity ROM. Its been the fastest for me and has been updated during the time I've had it.

[Q] After a day with Android on HD2

I'm half way through my 2nd day using Android on my HD2 and this thread is for me to say what issues i've found. Not to complain, just because most of them may have fixes or other people may have the same issues. These ROMS haven't long been out and i'm sure the developers here will fix many issues.
ROM: NRGZ28 Energy ROM
Radio: .12
Android Build: Desire v5
Battery Life:
Compared with WinMo, Android appears to be less optomised on battery. I put the phone on a full charge at 7pm last night, at this time(10:25am) with very little use, 1 3 minute call and a quick check on Facebook) the battery only has 50% left just over
Unresponsive Screen:
Occasionally the screen will stop responding, however pressing a hardware button usually clears the problem up
Photo Uploading:
I took 2 photos yesturday and went to upload them to Facebook, however the progress bar stays at 0% on the notification bar and no way to remove it
No Mic/Audio:
I've made another thread for this and I found the problem, with my Windows Mobile ROM it doesn't automatically load CLRAD.EXE before HaRAT.EXE, so when starting up the phone, i have to take out SD Card, use File Explorer to start CLRAD.exe, put SD Card in then launch HaRAT.exe
I've heard changing to the Titanium WinMo ROM fixes many issues compared to Energy so I may try that tonight
your rom should be fine to run android.
desire v5 is not the best choice, cause its one of the first builds.
you should take an new build before doing anything else...
if you like sense, give mattc 1.6 a try. if you not like sense take a look at darkstones newest froyostone.
there have been many many kernel updates since desire v5 was released. you will notice a huge difference in speed and response...

Thanks for the tip, I may try Mattc 1.6, is that 1.6 the version of the ROM or is it Android 1.6?
Actually wait a bit on mattc 1.6. It currently has issues. mattc 1.5b is my fulltime build right now. I haven't used WinMo in 2 weeks. As a matter of fact, I'm going to load on a light version of WinMo, like Chucky's. Why have a bloated WinMo when you're not using it?

I said to you to upgrade as desire is an older build. In regards of clfcad it should be on your SD card in the android folder along with haret so why is it stored elsewhere? Plus you always have to click clrcad before running haret unless you use an android launcher like mskips which does this automatically.
So OP other than your experiences with highly known problems. What was your experince with android overall.
Did you like it? Did you use it to is full potential? Did you try out the new voice search? What did you think of qik? or any other note worthy apps?
I know you are probably already aware but I just wanted to say
these things.
The battery life improves with use of setcpu. Considering the phone was never designed to run android I am ok with it.
Unresponsive screen is solved right now by disabling screen rotation.
there is also a slight delay built in I believe.
Uploads were a big problem untill the recent ppp fix.
You shouldnt ever have a problem with sound running aslong
as clrad.exe is being properly ran.
I wanted to address these because I believe android on the hd2 needs a fair chance. If we dont take into account these minor flaws we wont see the greatness.

Those files are in the Android folder on the SD card, but I thought the WinMo ROM as it has a button built in to launch Android would be scripted to run CLFCAD.exe and HaRAT.exe automatically, wrongly assumed on my part though.
hmm, mskips you say? May give that a go.
Yeah i've been told by a few people to upgrade the Android rom i have, the reason I started with this one is because i figured the HTC Desire is a similar phone to HD2. I'll try in a bit a new WinMo ROM and Android ROM but with the same radio

Don't get me wrong this isn't me complaining about it. I knew there would be "niggling" issues of course.
Well personally, I love it. I want to use it as my main OS. It is suprisingly stable, it looks good, it runs reasonably well(i.e above issues). I love the Android Marketplace, i've given Layar a go(which runs well and is fun) i enjoy Latitude and using it with Google Buzz.
I am hugely grateful for the work people are putting into these ROMs, its fantastic and as they get improved and issues get fixed well, I can imagine great things
sorry I didnt mean to imply anything. I just wanted to see what you enjoyed. I am glad to see you are enjoying it.
I knew these guys were smart so i bought it even before I knew about the project.

[Q] What does and doesn't work on Android?

I'm considering selling my MyTouch3g 32a for a HD2 device... But, I need to know some things before I make this move.
It looks like you can't yet replace the WinMo 6.5 with Android, so it has to run off SD. At least that's what I can infer. How does this effect performance?
Is battery life good on the HD2? My MyTouch3g can get about 17-18 hours off the charger.
What does and doesn't work on the HD2 running Android? Any quirks I should know about? ...Is it stable and reliable enough to be a daily driver?
Also since I'm on T-Mobile, I'd be looking for a T-Mobile branded HD2... does this matter?
Sorry for all the noob questions.
replacing winmo will be possible in near future by a nand rom. i guess noone knows by now what will work better with a nand rom. most people think that battery life time will increase dramatically, but i won't count on that...
for me, running android from sd-card has no disadvantages but as i said before, we have to wait for nand roms.
with new kernels like S1 or S2 from mdeejay battery life is great (for me). it lasts minimum 24 hours on normal usage.
as far as i know there is just one big and some small issues with android on hd2:
big one: data disconnects with ppp. this is nearly fixed for me with S1 kernel, but approx. once a day i still get data lost...
small one(s): very few touchscreen freezes (escpecially when trying to answer a call).
just now i can't remember other issues, but since about 2 months winmo is just used for booting android on my hd2.
my conclusion: android is a very well daily driver

Thank you for the info.
What does "data disconnects with ppp" mean? and if this happens, what do I do to resolve it? Throw into airplane and out of airplane mode?
you're welcome. as far as i know there are two internet protocols:
rmnet and ppp. because of low speed, rmnet seems to be vanished in nearly all builds. the good thing about it was stability! ppp has the opposite properties: very fast but till now a bit unstable.
data disconnects means that it's not down- or uploading any data while connection seems to be established regular. as you guessed right, you can handle it with airplane mode or by disconnecting and reconnecting internet connection. there is also a (semi)fix for that, which will reconnect for you automatically. but i'm pretty sure that this data loss problem will be gone in the near future (devs are still working on it).
p.s: sorry for my poor english, i hope you understand everything.
As for me it is very usable on a daily basis. I didn't think it was possible until I started flashing Android. Everything is great except for what fruchtfliege was saying. But even then, I have never gone back to Winmo.
fruchtfliege: is your LED notification light working properly? Mine only lights up once and that's it.
compared to that old 32a, the hd2 is an absolute monster!
theres an ocational minor glitch, but nothing like things were on ported roms on a dream/saphire....
its smooth sailing...

sorry a bit out of topic: can i install mdeejay kernel to my mccm build? and where can i find it? thanks.
I'm using the MDeeJay evo 2.3 build and i haven't found anything not working at all. The battery last longer than it did on winMO. Been using this build constantly for about a month now, apart from the odd reboot I've had nothing but fun and games
I would personnaly recommend this build also.

no ppp disconnects?
Thanks for all the replies, this has been real helpful in my decision and will probably grab a HD2 when/if a WP7 rom comes out just to have the best of both worlds in my pocket.
One last question, I see the MDeeJay evo 2.3 build mentioned here, but I'n not a fan of sense. Is there a CyanogenMod port that's really stable?

i'm not sure which build mccm is, but if it's from mdeejay it SHOULD work (as posted in his kernel thread)
The LED notification light 'usually' works fine for me. Under 30% battery and it stays lit though
Only thing that doesn't really work is the camera on HD builds.
So far I've been disconnect free since I changed to S3 kernel from Mdeej - however I also disabled the stock tab and uninstalled my taskkiller which might've helped.

[Q] Problems with Pyramid Sense 3.0

hi there...
Firstly thank you to this forum that I converted my phone from W6.5 to ANDROID ... whooppieee AND i am truely excited about it...
I loaded the Lady Miui Rom first and it worked very well though missed the 'sense' elements in terms of sms, layouts, backgrounds etc.
finally have moved to Pyramid Sense 3.0. But i seem to be having the following problems:
a. The graphics have thin lines on the top of the screen like some sort of distortion. Does ne1 else have it too ?
b. Battery life is quite short. It probably lasts me only 8-9hrs though I hardly use the phone (and there are no animations or widgets that I am playing around in the background.. have checked all of that). I have kept a non-animated screen saver, no weather apps too (though I love to keep it!) to keep the battery running...
c. moving from one screen to the other takes a tad longer for it to load. Even when i dial numbers or type a text message its not real time ..
I love the ANDROID...and no doubt I want to stick to it... guess i now realise what i was missing from so long but sadly the above things are being a real put off for me...
Any suggestions on any "other" stable ROM (especially for the battery) or solutions on the above ?
As always, I truely appreciate everyones time and effort in building something new and hats off to the developers for that... and to those who provide meaningful detailed insights to users like me.. Thank you!
Cheers!
pyramid rom is very nice and stable...only camcorder lags.....its having graphical glitches which is normal....but moving from one screen to another is a prob.....have u created 5/240/5 partition ?
hi sachin... i followed the instructions while loading the ROM.. the graphical glitches are to do with the display.. it gives thin lines flickering in the centre of the screen (like how one saw on television in the earlier days) .. didnt notice it in the Lady Miui ROM...Battery is another MAJOR challenge for me...
Have you tried ne other ROM.. ne recommendations ?
ya graphical glitches need to be fixed by devs...we have to wait for that....
lady miui rom is very nice and fast ...
i think u have to try mwakious rom...

I will agree with you mate...if you want something more stable you must try one of these roms...i got mwakious as well and the developer is doing updates very often...
now sense 3.0 is on its first steps ! so nothing stable for now.... as the developers of xda are working hard for it
PS. read all the descripion before trying a rom cause everything they write is important!
thanks mate.. any other suggestions on ROM's... have also started noting the following problem in the last few days...
- when i click on android market, while it is connecting, it just freezes up and then i am forced to shut the phone and restart it from scratch.
- Battery drainage is also quick in spite of me hardly using the phone - 3-4calls of around 1-2mins each and 8-10incoming sms's. Dont have ne other applications donwloaded as the graphics giving a slight problem (refer to my 1st post).
Really thinking of changing this ROM... any suggestions would be of help...
Cheers
try rafdroid desire hd (but i recommend it with raf's 1.9oc kernel, you can flash it later), or coredroid v1.7, or langthang's ndt ginger (really fast)
another vote for NDT Ginger sense 3, graphic glitches are gone change kernel to Rafpigna 2.0 OCGB to fix BT and wifi issues, all running like a dream

hello all,
thanks for your reverts... is anybody able to help me online on messenger in loading the Ginger Rom or any other ones as its becoming increasingly difficult with the Pyramid sense... facing a bit of lags in all actions on the phone
The reason i am requesting for online help is cause am not so tech savy though have flashed the phone twice b4 but with online help from somebody from this forum and he is currently busy with work...
You can PM me, if required... cheers and thank you all for your help
Hi, as I don't have enough post to reply on dev pages, I will ask my question here... The problem is that some people can't hear me when I'm talking with them on the phone, I need to yell so they can hear me good... is it up to a radio or it's up to a ROM? is there any fix for that?

Try values around 400, maybe a little bit less. You´ll see if it meets your requirements when you make next call. With this APP you can change it easily and quickly

[Q] Which Android ROM should I Install?

Hi everyone!
I just want start of by saying how grateful I am to this community. I've had my HD2 for 2 years now with no plans to change all thanks to the dedication and hard work and support I've received here.
Here's the problem: I installed Android nearly a year ago, ICS 4.0.3, CyanogenMod version 9.0. It initially ran beautifully, but now it slow as molasses, and a little infuriating. In fact, sometimes it makes me want to go back to WinMob 6.5 (yeah, THAT bad).
It seems to be draining the battery really quickly even though I can't seem to figure out what it causing the drain (I've tried changing the battery already). What I'm tempted to do is simply load a new ROM on it and start from scratch.
I'd really like an up-to-date ROM, but one which is stable and reliable (I don't need anything too experimental). I'd love your recommendations. Links would be appreciated as well, but I'm sure I can find them if I know what to look for.
Thanks in advance

It ran beautifully? I find that incredibly hard to believe, since at that time the only ICS ROMs you would find would be ROMs built from the SDK. Anyway, just try any newer ICS or below ROM, they all work fine.

Try this or this ROM. Fast, lite, speed and smooth.
Typhoon ROM is the king. Fast, Rich and stable.

I second this but untill ICS or JB can fix netflix I'll jump ship. But for now Typhoon is best for me lasts me 2 days of regular browsing and texting. I did try WP7.8 but headphone jack in my car aux stopped me from using it as a daily.
