[Q] Internet speed - XPERIA X8 General

I have a simple question. What can cause my gprs/edge speed to decrease?
I have flashed fresh se rom.
No apps installed except speedtest.net
Last month i've also had been using gprs, speed was ok. I didn't checked, but surfing was fine.
Now, speedtest.net says that my gprs download speed is 0,7kB/s and upload is 2,3kB/s ping 999m/s. And sometimes speedtest app says that my upload speed is ~90kB/s
We've compared same operator, same internet, at the same place but with two different phones 6700 and x8. And yes, 6700 was ok.

WIFI download speed

hi folks, i dnload youtube clips at only 40kb/s using touch hd on a 3 MB broadband speed on a TOUCH HD
my colleague using the diamond dnloads at 80kb/s.
(NOTE: same connection for both HD and diamond)
both set to best performance wifi.
using W.V.D as client to dnload.
question 1 ) why is it that the touch hd dnloads so slow compare to daimond?
question 2 ) what is "best perfomance and wat is best battery life?
WIFI speeds on HD slow compare to 3G
Yes, I did experience slow wifi speeds via three different 5Mb/sec ADSL routers. I did configure the HD's registry and the routers to to operate on 54Mb/s. I did try to use different wifi channels (to avoid interference). I did try WMM support, I am was in sight of the routers' antennas (not too close), to no avail. The speeds I measured (using dslreports and pocketspeed) were at most 150-200 kbs.
3G (HSDPA) shows sppeds up to 1200kbs.
Please advice
Same problem here, connection via wifi is really limited and slow... Im on a 100mbps... I can barely reach 300KB/sec download

I did configure this patch (and more) a long time ago, but still the wifi speed is LOW
from pocketnow :
Note: you need to connect to an 802.11g enabled access point in order to achieve these results. Connecting to a 802.11b will not benefit from any speed increase as "g mode" needs to be supported on both ends.
above sentence i do not get it.. can someone explain?

wifi speed @811.g just 39Kb/s

/edit: topic must be: 802.11.g
hi there,
got my HD2 (stock vodafone rom) on friday and until now i am very statisfied, everything set up to my needs etc.
Today i wanted to stream videos from my win7-pc to the HD2. Installed TCPMP and Resco Explorer. Everything works fine except for the buffer-lags. i experimented with the buffer settings A LOT but nothing worked out. then i wanted to copy a movie to my HD2 and realized the speed in Resco: 39.2 Kb/s (no typo)
Copying to phone memory or SD-Card is the same.
My router (Fritzbox 7170) tells me that my HD2 is connected with 54MBit/s.
I even installed the 802.11.n CAB though my router doesnt support this speed. didnt work out either.
any help plz?
excuse my english - im from europe.
Thanks in advance
ElveZ
/EDIT: problem solved. wifi energy plan was set to battery life... works with 700+Kb/s set to performance.
keep up the good work in here
No wonder!
Gah!! I thought my hd2 wifi router was doomed to be slow at no more than 40kb/sec ! I thought i over heated it up and caused it to be permanently slow. I went nuts jumping from rom to rom, radio to radio hoping to get the full internet speed,...until you post showed up! (No, 'Search' didnt help me out much this time, had to browse through 26 pages of irrelevant post)
Now im gonna try to "Best performance" and see if it makes any difference.
Right Sorry for posting here but I can not make a Thread :S
Ok I tested my HD2 on a few speed test sites and then tested on the same site my laptop.
right on
broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk
Laptop: 15000 kbps Download
720 kbps Upload
HD2 Apparently: 20000 kbps Download
AND 40000 kbps Upload (WTF)
and then I was like ok lets try another site
broadband.talktalk.co.uk/products/broadband-guide/broadband-speed-test
Laptop: 16000 kbps Download
720 kbps Upload
HD2: 22000 kbps Download
44000 kbps Upload
Right, why does my phone get such a massive upload ? or is this some sort of a bug or false reading
P.S.
The HD2 is connected to the same WiFi as the laptop as well as the 3G.
"The Internet transfer/download speed of my laptop via 3g ith my hd2 as the wifi router " = 40kb/sec, which is Junk, btw.
"The Internet transfer/download speed of my laptop with my 3g usb modem" = 300 - 600kb/sec which is the speed I wished my connection was, via the same 3g connection but using the hd2 as the wifi. And I hope that changing the "Power mode" of the hd2 wifi to "Best performance" (thanks for the OP for pointing it out) , i could reach the speeds as my 3b usb modem. Gonna do a bit of testing 1st...
================
Rom - Miri dinik v17.0
radio - 2.11.50.20
I get about the same download with wifi and 3G. Normal? EDIT: Turning it to Performance mode tripled my speed via WiFi.
Munto: What browser on the HD2 are you using?
I'm using Skyfire
Yeh just tested with opera 10 and now the speeds are close the the PC's results.
I guess Skyfire is full of BS.

Ah, Skyfire (and Opera Mini 5) uses server-side rendering so you won't get an accurate result. Skyfire's server downloads the pages, applies compression magic, and sends it to you, so the result is skewed by their probably ultra-fast servers. I think Opera 9.7 works the best for speed tests.

[Q] Painfully slow WiFi speeds, anyone else?

Hi there, I got a Magic (32A) with FroyoRedux, SPL 1.33.0010 and Radio 3.22.20.17. Everything works perfect, except for one thing: the WiFi speed. At july, I was visiting my parents in other city, I also updated my ROM while I was there. At my parents' house, with WiFi connected to a 8mbps internet connection, I got full speed (tested using speedtest.net app). About 3 or 4 weeks ago, when I got home, also via speedtest.net app, I got a fair speed (3mbps) via WiFi. I have 15mbps at home, but I though it was OK, since its fast enough for most applications I use. But, since then, my WiFi speed is limited to a extremely slow rate, always slower than my 3G speed. I have 600kbps at 3G, and I get, in the best results, 500kbps via WiFi (most of the times, it gets between 100 and 200kbps), even without any other device connected to my router. I tried using static IP, no success (actually, I was unable to connect while using static IP, even with all the settings done correctly). Using an app called WiFi analyzer, I can see that no network next to my house is using the same channel as my router does, so channel interference is also not the problem. I know a setting in HTC WinMo devices which let the user to choose between better wifi performance or better battery life, but I was unable to find such settings in Android.
So, I'd like to know if it is a known issue, or if someone out there has the same problems as me. I've seen many Droid and Hero owners having similar issues, but nobody with a Magic.
And sorry for any typos I may have commited, my english is not that good, I'm brazilian

When doing your speed tests - use speak easy

Far better than the apps on the market. It gives real speed of your web connection. I was getting 1.2 -1.5 down on the speed test app when http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ was giving me 4.1ish.
The speedtest.net app has been extremely unreliable for me. When I use it I get a download speed of 800k. If i use a browser based test even from speedtest.net I get 3mbps. The app also lowers my wifi speeds from 5.2mbps to about 3-4. Ping times are also affected.
use www.testmy.net for accurate tests. Make sure you select the mobile tests

Just ran this on my 3GS and I get 3.3mbps on wifi which is impossible considering speedtest.net shows a 30mbps down connection
EDIT : Speak Easy also reports around 30mbps, tried running TestMy on my wired computer and it runs around 14mbps, It seems crippled.

You ran the Speedtest.net on your computer. It will be much slower on the 3GS.
Also, when using the test suite, make sure you select the mobile version, www.testmy.net/mobile
Also select the AUTO option. For comparison, my Verizon Fios connection get 28MB/s download and 27MB/s upload over my laptop using wireless-N 5GHz. Testmy.net gives me the same readings (this is with a XBOX 360 in the background playing COD: Black Ops (hardwired), and my wife upstairs on her laptop playing Cafe' World on the same network band). With nothing else running, my connection is usually spot on 35/35. On my Evo, I get 7.7Mbps download speed. Wireless N but at the 2.4GHz radio. I think when I had my 3GS it was about the same on the Wireless G.
Using the Speedtest app on my phone, I get about 13 downl and 7 up...

Yeah on Speedtest.net app on my iphone on Verizon FiOS I get around 18mbps down with the stock wireless G router. I tried TestMy and it shows a 3.3mbps connection on my iPhone. Both Speedtest and SpeakEasy show a 30mbps down on the wired desktop while TestMy shows only 14down its weird.

WiFi Speed Problem

US996 unlocked using OEM site. Phone is rooted. I am running the stock Oct. 1 2016 US99610d Build number deODEXd firmware. I am using Verizon wireless and Verizon FiOS which I recently upgraded from 75/75 to gigabit. At 75/75 my wifi speeds on my V20 were consistently 85/90 D/U with 9 or 10 ms ping using the OOKLA speed test. With my gigabit FiOS I have seen V20 speeds as high as 435/305 but no more. My FiOS desktop PC speed test using the Verizon gigabit speed test consistently shows 949/934 for router and 924/952 for device (PC). My V20 with the OOKLA test however will usually show something like 5 ms ping and 85/110. If I delete the OOKLA app, go into recovery and wipe Dalvic/ART Cache and Cache, then reboot and download the OOKLA speed test and run it I get the Very high 400/300 speeds UNTIL I get out of the app, then rerun it and get the old 85/110 speeds. The WiFi connection on the phone always shows 866 Mbps link speed. All OOKLA tests are from the same OOKLA site. I can tell if the phone on WiFi is in fast mode or slow mode by download speeds in general. I am frustrated trying to figure out what is preventing consistent high WiFi speed (all quoted speeds are from a distance of about 3 feet from the router. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks.
