2.2 root - Vibrant General

Is there anyway I could root My vibrant on 2.2?
I tried the One-Click root but It wouldn't go through.
If anyone has done it yet help me out please.

Did you try superoneclick? that worked for me and gave me superuser, i just am having trouble with clockword recovery, but i think thats the actual phones issue.

Is superoneclick different than Vibrant one click root? Ill try it out though.

Yes, and it is better and works for practically every android phone
here-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682

Yep. I had the same problem with my T959D. Super worked fine though

Thanks man I found the video On the Unlockr website Thanks for your help!!!

Are you on 3e recovery? KA6/KA7? If so, you need to run a script to make 3e act like 2e.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925400

or you can odin Supercurios KA6 or KA7 kernel with Voodoo and get CWM recovery and root at the same time...careful with voodoo though..

No rooting for 2.1, so I thought.

EDIT: See HERE
yeah, i mentioned that none of the rooting methods work, nor does the flashing tool work, but i guess no one listened to me :\
I thought the SuperOneClick might have worked but it just hangs.
unknown13x you tried to downgrade from 2.1 to some 1.6 firmware using x10flash and it didn't work?
Bollocks, I was banking on root still working so I could restore my apps using titanium...CRAP. Yeah ive just tried x10 root + UniversalAndroot, both fail.
Edit: Wrong topic...
Just rooted x10 with 2.1 android with SuperOneClick:

Why thank you, I was born in the 18th century, so I didnt understand that.
Ofcourse there is no way a simple savage such as myself could ever have tried that method already.
What I meant was, HOW did he get it to work.
i take liberty of closing the thread since the root is confirmed!!

If I use z4root to root can I flash custom roms

I'm on the leak 2.2 and want to know if i use z4root to root how can i put another rom on it
Don't take my word as law or anything, this is just my basic understanding. DK28 is 2.2.1 which was released to patch the exploit z4root uses to root that was in 2.2
So no. But again, very good chance I'm wrong.

Root alone will not let you flash roms. You need clockwork mod to be able to flash custom roms.

Use z4, install rom manager use it to flash recovery.

does anyone have the link for z4root
stock to froyo 2.2.1, could not get z4root to run. it would hang up when attempting to apply root. had to pull battery and reset phone. tried this twice with same results prior to the "offical update.zip", z4root worked great
@Zen... I'm not sure what official update.zip you have.. But dk28 still can't be rted with z4 root For me.

Just updated to dl09

So is there a one click root app that works to root because z4root doesn't work after update
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I'm unable to root as well. Been trying the alternate methods without success. Can't even get ADB to work.
verizon fascinate DL09 *UNROOTED AND CURRENTLY UNABLE TO ROOT*
I used this method a few minutes ago and it seemed to work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
EDIT: Scratch that, I tried installing a rom and it failed.
z4root does NOT work with DL09 nor does any one click that i know of... you must use the d2 method found here. I just rooted using this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=779238

It seems to vary from person to person.
Some people have had success with z4, some have had success with 1-click...
i'm seeing that as well. thanks for the update!! i think a lot of people are going to have issues with this... if they just learned ADB they wouldnt have this problem!!
community is spoiling noobs with 1 clicks...
I used ADB to root my phone and install clockwork recovery not a single issue

it uses a diff directory structure, inststead of android-sdk\tools
its in android-sdk-platform\tool\platform
or something like that
but i cant get the root to take using any method yet
I was able to successfully root my device using the files from here, its a 1 click method too.
http://forum.androidcentral.com/fascinate-roms-hacks/33899-how-root.html
If you can get into recovery, and mount system as r/w, you can root it...
Push the files necessary for root such as busybox, superuser, etc
Now how you do that?
I'm not sure.
I used the superoneclick root. Windows XP with 32bit Drivers and FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE POST.
This method worked for me
verizon fascinate DL09 *UNROOTED AND CURRENTLY UNABLE TO ROOT*
Possible reason for failure
I had similar issues when I tried to manually root my fascinate after the dl09 update, and was using the most current samsung usb drivers...i think 1.3.550.
I removed the drivers and used the older 1.3.450 and was successfully able to root.
To do without a one click app please give directions because I don't know how to root using other methods

Ehh overwhelmed...

So I wanna get cm on my buddies evo. But after half an hour just browsing around I am pretty overwhelmed on obtaining no frills instructions. Can anyone give me a link or guide on the most recent and quickest way to root and install cwm? The wikis useless to me. Too many methods up there and no way of knowing which is the best and most recent method. Thnx in advance doods.

Use unrevoked to root, flash CM from recovery.
This is good but it would be faster but less informative to use autoroot. There is or was a link to it on the evo wiki page.

Autoroot isn't nearly as reliable as Unrevoked. I see too many people posting about borked roots because of autoroot. I've used Unrevoked probably 15 times and have not had a single issue. Here's the how-to for Unrevoked.

I agree unrevoked has worked for me twice with the evo and twice with the hero when I had it. one evo for me one for my dad,one hero for me, one for my friend. Also, cw can b installed through recovery but I recommend flashing amon ra.
Google for rooting for dummies. It's on a different forum but its a complete step by step guide to rooting. And installing tons and kernels and more. It's the First link

Well my goal is to flash a senseless rom with the fps uncapped. But seeing that there's no unified simple surefire way to even root I think im gonna pass. Everything seems convoluted. Anything out there like 1 click root on the epic? You know all in one root, recovery, etc? Sorry I own an epic and from what im seeing its true what they say. Samsuck makes things easy to flash.

ok...
gald we could help.
I've used auto root 5 times with no issues. I'm not sure what issues others have had buy nine here so far. I'd give it a try. Off course the PC I did it on I used evolution prior and maybe it was because I had all the driver installed. Idk. Good luck and God speed my friend.

No, it needs to be run from a PC but it's pretty damn easy.
I would suggest once rooted, grab RA Recovery Manager replace Clockwork Mod with it. You get more control over backups with it, plus the backup/restore process seems faster with it.
Download link, plus instructions on how to flash it are here:

+1. RA is the better and more reliable of the two.
The one time I used Autoroot, my phone hung on recovery.
The first time I used Unrevoked, it failed. I used it again, but this time in Linux and it worked fine.
Every phone is different, but the overwhelming consensus is to use Unrevoked

I guess everyphone is different.
I had to use rom manager to load up cm7 nighty. For whatever reason goings into recovery manually and selecting the rom it just hung there for 20 mins. Where as it worked fine with rim manager.
Damn I wish we all had the same experiences with this thing.

How to root t-mobile vibrant with Froyo 2.21,froyo UVKB5 ,

I upgraded my vibrant to the lastest official rom, froyo UVKB5 , juse for those who still looking for the way to root it, I used the Super one click version 1.91 , and it works, remember ,only the version 1.91 will work, all other earlier version will not help you.
Certainly you will have to install the usb driver for Vibrant,
then download the SUPER ONE CLICK software ,
and select "USB DEBBUGING " on your phone,
then open the SUPER ONE CLICK programe,
connect your phone via usb,and click 'Root" ,
when it says done, reboot your phone, there you should get it rooted.
Lol and don't forget tto tell people how to get to clock work mod! Wait do you even know how to? Not trying to be mean bro.

You have to flash a new kernel. Then you can use ROM Manager to flash a new ROM.
I rockin Trigger atm. and I LOVE IT.

Lol no that is not how you do it! You have to have a modified 3e recovery first then you can start flashing things its not as easy as that. Since the 3e recovery checks update.zip you cannot flash clockworkmod that easily you can do it on jfd that easy but not an update which has a 3e recovery!

I just spent a day trying to root my Galaxy S Vibrant using SuperOneClickv2.3.3 (after having it updated to Froyo 2.2). It did not work, no matter what I tried.
Finally, I came accross your post, googled for SuperOneClickv1.9.1, dowloaded and followed your instructions. It worked like a charm.
Once again, THANK YOU!
