[Q] Newb question about hd2 and android.... - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I have sucessfully installed MAGLDR 1.10 and flashed CyanogenMod7_v.2.6_NAND_A2SD to my HTC HD2. The phone works 100% Appz/ voice calls/ messaging/ internet/ videos/ Nothing was wrong for about 1 week. Now my phone cannot make any Voice calls and I get terrible T-mobile signal where I usually get all bars Full. When I try to make voice calls it would connect to the other person I am trying to talk to but I cannot hear them and they cannot hear me. Then the phone gives me an error code. Something like Process.Kernal.Droid Not responding would you like to close? But Everything else works except voice calls.
Is there something I did wrong? How do I fix this? My brother told me I need to install a new radio. So does anyone know how to install a new radio?? How do I do it and where do i find one?

Flash a new rom, that rom is full of bugs, happen the same to me.

You can get radios over on the WM6.5 ROM development forum (or click the radio link in my signature ). Switch phone off, hold vol down and switch phone on - you will boot into bootloader mode. Connect to pc and when usb shows on phone screen flash the radio as you would flash a winmo rom.

Can I do this after I have already flashed my NAND Android ROM? In other words, will flashing a new radio destroy an Android ROM? In other, other words, if I flash a new radio, will I have to re-install my NAND Android ROM? TIA!

No, it will have no impact on the NAND rom or magldr. Just go to bootloader, flash the rom and then the phone will reboot and boot back to your Android rom. Just make sure that you flash a radio with a 50 in the naming convention (not 51) and it must be at least 2.08.50.xx or higher.

Every flashed ROM freezes my phone...

I'm not a complete numpty at this as have for years been flashing my HTC devices.
However with my HD2, everytime I flash my device, I cannot make a call. It connects but there's no-one one can hear me. When I end the call the whole screen freezes and I have to take the battery out and turn on again.
If I flash back to the original LEO Rom the problem goes away.
Wierd. Any ideas please?
Are you doing a hard-reset after flashing? This means holding the volume up key and the power button at the same time until you get the message asking for confirming of a hard reset.
No - I didnt.
Doing that now. Hope the answers that easy!
I had similar problems and turned out this was it. I was doing a soft-reset instead of the required hard-reset.
Didnt work. Still the same...
Has the radio got anything to do with this?
If it helps, I did HSPL successfully and installed (independantly) radio 2.09.51.03 from HTC (not TMOUS - not that I know what that means )

Yes,
In a lot of cases the Radio you use is very important. A lot of custom roms in particular require specific radios in order to allow for the 575mb ram hack. If the correct radio is not present it usually results in the phone hanging on the white HTC screen, not starting, constantly rebooting etc... Whichever rom you're using check back in that thread to see if it requires a specific radio, if it does then flash it by restarting the phone while holding the volume button in the down position (the bottom of the button) to get it into bootloader then connect the USB cable and link the phone with your PC and put the correct radio on from there.

Would you mind suggesting a ROM with the specific Radio you know will work. I can then rule out my 'interpretation' error! Would appreciate it.
also...is the radio sometimes built in to the ROM?

yeah it should, i had a 2.07.51 radio rom on my HD2 when i tried the energy rom out first and same result as you. Did some digging about it and found that Energy rom only works with 2.08.50 radio, so flash it and you will be fine.

No HSPL

Since my HTC HD2 from Tmobile the SPL is 2.1
Is it possible to use a cooked rom without HSPL? Or is there another HSPL 2.1 hack.
Also, I searched the forum on downgrading it, which involves microsd. I'm not sure how to do it, anyone care to explain it to me? Thanks ^^
As long as you have one of these SPLs currently on the device - SPL 1.42.0000, SPL 1.62.0000, SPL 1.66.0000, SPL 2.07.0000, SPL 2.08.0000, SPL 2.10.000 you can flash HSPL3.
And you should always have hspl when flashing cooked ROMs
Dude I'm pretty sure there is no spl 2.1....
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
It's actually a 2.10.000
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893
So I download HSPL3 and do it? Edit: For installing HSPL3, do I have to enter the tri color screen than do it or no? And also, is HSPL3 compatible with TMOBILE?
Also, how do I find out of it's a LEO512 or LEO1024? Like how does it know the HSPL is compatible with me HTC HD2 Tmoible? I know the SPL is 2.10.000
But I read that there is 3 different kind of Leo. So I dont know if it will be compatible
Edit: Let's say I bricked it, how would I enter boot loader?
Bump. need help ASAP ><
To confirm the instruction
1. Run HSPL3 (Do I have to be in the tri color screen in order to install it?)
2. Run the rom I want using CUSTOMRUU (It's a Miri HD2 WM6.5.X (23133) V18) (Do I have to be in the tri color screen? Or can I just plug in the phone and run the custom RUU?
3. After I flashed it, and I want to install Android on it, do I have to do anything about radio version or no? < I am asking this because on my current build, I hear robot voices... After I install the V18 everything should be fine and I don't have to worry about the radio right? Thanks again ^^
Bump! I really need help >< I really want Android on this phone and I keep hearing robot voice when calling..
I don't use the Miri ROM but I would search his thread for all instances of "Android" and see what other users are doing. Sorry I couldn't help more.
Dude... so there's a post in this section, actually one of the first ones in the area... stickyed close to the top (4th thread actually), that talks about EVERYTHING you just asked... and it's specificly for our 1024LEO (T-Mobile HD2)
give it a glance... it also provides the links to HSPL3 and instructions on how to install it.
I ran though this the 2nd day I had my T-Mobile HD2, first phone I've EVER customized, and it's all really straight forward & easy.... just be sure to RTFM
Also, as a bit of help....
when installing a ROM, the RUU will reboot the phone into the Tri-Color to perform the flash... however, if it's the first time the phone has been plugged into the computer while at the TRI-Color... the flash process will time out before the computer finishes installing the drivers required to see the device.... so I suggest going to the TRI-Color manually and pluging the phone into the computer... let the computer install the drivers (when finished, you will see the words change from SERIAL to USB in the white area of the Tri-Color screen) then run the ROM install. The RUU can be run both from the OS and from the Tri-Color
Oh, thanks!
Last question. Currently I have a official ROM from HTC, and when I boot up android, everything works fine except that when I make call I hear a robot voice.
Will flashing to custom rom fix this problem? Or do I have to update the radio? :|

Official T-Mobile ROM? it's possible... both my Fiancee and I have the HD2, I flashed to the Energy ROM, and she used a kitchen and made a custom version of the T-Mobile ROM... when running Android mine works fine on voice, she however gets the robot...
we both flashed to the radio to Leo_Radio_2.12.50.02_2
I recall seeing something about formatting the SD card and trying again to fix the robot voice issue... but I would suggest doing some searches in the HD2 Android Development section first (found in the "other" HD2 section )... I know a lot of people were reporting that issue, so I'm sure someone has "The Fix" for it.
last bit... remember to ALWAYS check if a ROM is TMOUS supported before you flash... getting a ROM from this section is a safe bet (and i think a lot of the custom ROM cooks are starting to cook the Android loader in... I know the Energy ROMs have it) but when you start going to ROMs in the Android Development section made specifically for running Android you need to make sure.

[Q] Android without a new Radio ROM?

Hi,
I wonder if there is a way to use Android on the HD2 without the special ROM version it needs. During a reboot my device shows:
R 2.07.51.22~2
G 15.32.50.07U
D 1.72.86526
A reset with the volume down key being pressed shows "SPL 1.66.0000".
Thank you
Hi,
that´s a fine question. My device shows the same.
Can annybody tell us something about this topic?
Thanks
You can try andriod without any rom changes, just download it, extract to SD card & run (per instructions). It should work, in general, but you'll most likely get the common issues, like "robot voice".
Try some builds & see how they work for you.
Today I tried out "HyperDroidV1.2" but i get one of the known problems!
I don´t want to change the radiorom because of my warranty.
Every thread I looked up say, that you lost the warrenty if you try HSPL and a other RadioRom.
I'm afraid to make my phone unusable.
Thanks for your answer!
Without the right Radio ROM, Android will stop booting at the "init screen" (or "init panel"?) line and the display will fade to black.

Be careful!!
I tried the FroyoSense V2 on my stock HD2, and my WM locked up totally. No 3'rd part progs would run, could not install anything. The phone was more or less useless. So backup your phone before even trying to run Android.
well you need at least 2.08 radio. i have exact same stock rom, but you need to hspl and upgrade your radio.
Why are you hesitant to flash a new radio? It is super simple to do and it is reversible. If I were you I'd go to radio 2.12. You can also flash a custom WM Rom with built in android boot manager.
My understanding is that Andriod only works with the R 2.**.50.** radio. I think these are the US radios. Any .51 radio are for EUR/AUS and will not work with Android.
I have a Telstra HD2 with 2.09.51.03 and have to flash 2.10.50.08 inorder to work with Android.
I believe unless you have a TMobile HD2, it is quite safe to use any radio rom and the flashing process is very straight forward indeed.

[Q] How to Flash new radio on Nand Android?

Can anyone tell me if there's a way to flash a new radio with android already flashed.
i would like to know that too >.<
probably via the bootloader? or do we really have to flashback to winmo first Oo
1. Power off your device.
2. Hold Volume Down key and power on the device till u get the tricolour screen.
3. Flash your Preferred Radio Rom
Where can you download these radio roms? And once you flash those roms do you still keep your Android rom that you have installed before you flash the radio rom?

you will still have your android without any changes
Once you are in the tricolour screen you just flash with customRUU? Because customRUU wont find any information concerning the radio that is already installed..?

thx it worked but after reinstalling the stock rom it comes again to what happend first.
You must have missed something.
1. Hold vol down to enter HSPL during boot.
2. Either Task29 or directly flash a stock rom to completely revert to original state.
3. If you using custom rom and task 29, make sure you also flash the radio.
In order for the MAGLDR to work, you MUST flash radio that enables 576MB ram. I.e.: radio with *.50.* in its version name. If your stock rom comes with *.51.* radio, you need to change the radio.
Go here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787) and pick a compatible radio and flash it. Then finally flash MAGLDR. It should work then.
Can anyone tell me where to get a stock rom?
I tried the HTC website, but apparently my serial number is wrong (I dunno why). My provider (vodafone) doesn't have anything either...

You need to provide more details. Which build are you using? Did you change the kernel, if so, did u copy the modules as well? Also, have you tried formatting your SD card using the panasonic SDHC card formatter? (It may seem trivial to format, but broken file system will prevent android from mounting your sdcard)
