Admob 0 revenue - Android Software Development

Hi! I've just start using AdMob, and I have a lot of questions.
-I wonder if admob pay by impressions , or pay be clicks?
If only user clicks can generate revenue, then wt's the use of impressions?
-how come my eCPM is always 0?? is it affected by user clicks?
Thanks!

the pay for both, you money per click, and money per 1000 impressions, your numbers should go up when your app is downloaded more and the # of requests increases

That's a really good news!
Thanks so much!

Good question!
I would be very interested in the opinions of some devs that use that business model too!
I have a buddy that has a popular solitaire game in the app market, and he says he makes some decent change off of it. I was shocked to hear this, because I NEVER click on ads, but he says he makes a few bucks off of it, so it must work.

Any idea how much? Like a few bucks a week, or a month?
I know it has been a while since the last post but I think its an interesting issue.
The share of free apps is continuously growing and developers can seriously make a lot of money of implementing ads into their apps.
If your app is rather popular, and you generate a sufficient amount of ad requests, and work with a good monetization platform you can even live off it.
an interesting question to answer i am not sure about the ROI but i think app developers are making money through advertising...
Well as far as I know depends a lot of the active users of your app.
I have a free app with ads and I think developers should support each others clicking the ads...
Actually advertising you apps really work it gives you some money, it depends a lot on the daily downloads, and active downloads, the more you have ovbiously the better

I am lazy to count apps by apps in admob, maybe you can visit my google developer page HERE
I use AdMob.
Unfortunately, the gains are low.
I pay much attention to the quality of my app, but I see that many prefer quantity rather than quality. It may be that their earnings are higher.
If you like you can see my apps here:

I believe that in order to live with advertising, you should make at least 60000 views per day.
It 'difficult but not impossible
Actually i earn 1€ every 1000 impression with AdMob. But i don't have much impression

Is it possible to earn money on app by advertising? Yes it is! It's not easy but it's worth. First of all you should have intereting good looking app. Then find good ad network, I mean you should know where come from your users and what is target of your ad network. Get know if ad netowrk pay by CPI, CPC, or CPM. And constantly promote your app to get new users but don't forget to do some updates to engage users you have. So we can say More Active Users = Higher Revenue!

"More Active Users = Higher Revenue!" I agree with you, Woodny. Can you give me a quick explanation on CPI, CPC, & CPM? I read the ads FAQs already, but I can't figure out what they are.
I always have 1 question from the very beginning of this "ads-model" journey. Why your earning over 1k impressions is different than mine? How is it evaluated?
Thanks

CPI - cost per install - developer earn money when someone will install his app,
CPC - cost per click - developer earn money when someone will click on ad in his app
CPM - cost per mile - developer earn money when particular ad will be watched 1000 times
Beacause it depends how much advertiser will pay for 1 click, install etc. and how big is commision in ad network.

The same earnings ratio for me. But I think it all depends on where you put your ads. Mine are really not-obtrusive, displayed at the bottom, between levels, so users may not even notice them, or simply prefer to go to the next level. I'll try different approaches in the future.
Yes, it is certainly possible. The key is definitely to have a good quality app which will get used on a regular basis. Once you get up to around 100,000 impressions a day, then you can start to make a reasonable income off them.

[Q] Anybody use Admob?

Hi!
I am now trying to implement admob ads in my android apps.
Test ads can be shown in the emulator properly in test mode.
However, when i disable test mode (remove the setTestDevice code) and try to display the live ads, no ads can be shown in both emulator & real device. In log can, a log claimed that there are no ads to be displayed.
In the admob screen, I found that the Fill rate is always 0%. I wonder is this the reason I got no ads to be displayed? If yes, how can i improve the fill rate?
Thanks!
hi, i just started using ads a few days ago and had the same problem, the app needs to be realeased and then used for a bit to increase the number of "requests" (a request is made everytime the program tries to access a new ad), once the # of request increases then the fill rate will increase (e.g. my one app was released friday and has had over 4,000 requests and the ad rate is about 57%). once the fillrate gets higher then you'll start seeing ads... you can go to the sites/apps section on admob (where it shows revenue and stuff) and go to your app and click "reporting", which gives you all the statistics of that app, the "impression" category tells you how many times ads actually showed up.
Thanks For your reply!
One more thing i want to know: does admob pay by impressions , or pay be clicks?
If only user clicks can generate revenue, then wt's the use of impressions?

Admob pays by clicks (at least in my case).
And as hyperbyteX stated, you need to release the app and wait a bit (depending on how popular it is) before you see any live ads.
Hope that helps
Im not sure I understand what you mean by what's the "use". Admob gives very detailed statistics about requests, impressions, CTR, eCPM and clicks. If you aren't interested in knowing those other fields, then ignore them. Most people are interested to see that kind of stuff though.
Impressions help you see how effective your Ads/ad placement is. Also sometimes Admod does not have any Ads to give to you(No one has bought ads that are targeted at you), thats why you don't always see ads.
HA~ I understand now~
Thanks for you guys' help~

Thank you that answered my question also because I have noticed that sometimes my app displays ads sometime not. Good to know that thats the reason.
Consider switching another Mobile Ad Network?
First time using Admob, I have the same problems like you. After do some research and try some other ad network, I recommend Adsota as an alternative. its eCPM is much better than Admob. It has quick and smooth payment. Work for IOS and Android and 100% Fill-rate. Adsota works better for me and I think It could work better for you. Give it a try.
You can find by googling "ads.appota".
Best of luck, mate!

unexpected increase in admob revenue

hello friends,
i use admob for for my apps(for oonetization), which is my second app
i was using only banner ads in the starting, while using that,i only used to get $1-$2 per day only..
then i added interstitial ads also in the same app.after that revenue increased to $10 per day!!
i want to know is this normal?
my ecpm - $0.33
fill rate -99.71%
ctr -0.46, most of my ad clicks and downlaods are from US.does this affect this?
thanks in advance
KaitlinM said:
It's normal on any ad network for interstitials to perform better than banners. I would recommend avoiding a banners-only approach for almost all apps. Here's some stats from AppFlood.
In this experiment, the blogger did the math for a CPC campaign with a $0.3 bid and a CPI campaign with a $3.00 bid, both based on 100,000 impressions. For the CPC campaign, banner ads earned $9.60 and interstitials earned $1,024.40. That's huge! And in the CPI campaign banners earned nothing and interstitials earned $96.
Then check out AppFlood's August click-through-rates, 0.23% for banners and 5.70% for interstitials.
AppFlood also has some other nice ad formats like app lists and panels, and rich media is on its way soon. Hope that clears it up!

Hi,
This is normal as ecpm is higher with Admob interstitials (but fill rate is lower), US clicks have a very good ecpm, all this explains why you get that, Don't forget the effect of increasing number of users that will bring more revenue too. I recommend you using mediation with other ad networks like MMedia or InMobi
wow.. that's great.. I don't have a good experience using interstitial.. my uninstall rate is higher since using interstitial.. so, I'm just using banner for my prospecting top apps now
You just need to be careful with the interstitials. If you show them too often, or at an annoying time for the user then your uninstall rate will obviously increase. On exit is probably the least intrusive, and limit the number shown to a max of one or two a session.

On exit is a pretty bad idea, although many devs fall for this. It will result in a very low CTR and is actually against the AdMob TOS:
Do not place interstitial ads on app load and when exiting apps as interstitials should only be placed in between pages of app content.

Have heard great things about Appodeal.
It is normal
I think the increase is reasonable
- Interstitial ads are always known to be more effective in reaching the customers and calling to their actions (download or install). So by using it, you actually gets more downloads for the advertisers, which bring you more money. However, Interstitial ads are also known to be intrusive if used carelessly. It may harm the user experience in a long run. So be mindful with that.
- Your app can be good and it attracts users gradually. --> more people exposed to your app.
However, I recommend that you use several mobile ads network at a time to maximize your revenue.
I have tried using Adsota, Appstart, Revmob, Airpush and only adsota seems to work well for me. ITs eCPM is decent, quick and smooth SDK integration, quick payment. You will earn more with it. You can find by googling "ads.appota"
Best of luck.

Hello!
Hope this info helps:
Question 1. While you don't need to use a specific bank, you should check with your bank to make sure that they accept international wire transfers. Sometimes this a problem with local bank branches.
Question 2. CPA/CPI: “cost per acquisition/install”; CPC: “cost per click”; CPM: “cost per mille (thousand)”
Each of the above is a tool for measuring the worth of a particular ad campaign. CPA/CPI measures the campaign based on the amount of users who signed up for a service or downloaded an app after seeing an ad. CPC measures the campaign based on the number of users who click on an ad. CPM measures the campaign based on a thousand users who saw an ad.
Most ad networks run on a combination of the above measurement tools, and each is also an effective way of pricing an ad campaign.
CTR is the common abbreviation for “click-through rate”, and it refers to the number of users who click on a link of advertisement. High CTR is always an important goal for advertisers and developers.
For advertisers, high CTR reflects an effective ad campaign that captured user attention. For developers, high CTR is an important factor in earning high revenue and contributes to high eCPM.
eCPM means “effective cost per mille”, and it is used as a tool by app developers when comparing ad-based monetization strategies on the various ad networks. Ad networks with high eCPM (although eCPM does vary from day to day) are usually more successful and earn developers more revenue from ads.
Calculating eCPM is simple:
total earnings/impressions * 1000
(total earnings divided by impressions, multiplied by 1000)
You can also think about it like this:
CTR*Conversion Rate*Revenue per Conversion*1000
(CTR multiplied by Conversion Rate multiplied by Revenue per Conversion multiplied by 1000)
If you are still unsure about how eCPM is used, check out this example:
Imagine that you are running two ad types in your app called “Interstitial 1” and “Interstitial 2”.
After a week or so of running the ads, you decide that it is time to evaluate the effectiveness of each ad. After reviewing the data, you see that “Interstitial 1” generated 345 impressions and $1.00 in earnings. “Interstitial 2” generated 740 impressions with $0.60 in earnings.
Based on these numbers alone, it can be difficult to determine which ad type was the most effective. This is where eCPM comes in.
After evaluating the first eCPM formula for each ad type, “Interstitial 1” has an eCPM of $2.89 and “Interstitial 2” has an eCPM of $0.81. “Interstitial 1” wins!
Question 3. Most app stores have a "New Releases" section or chart. Newly released apps will usually appear on there for a few hours to a full day, depending on the amount of apps released in your category.
If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me and I'll answer them the best I can

In fact, i have some more Questions
Can i monetize my app by putting an add in each activity from the same add netowrk? and if yes, all impressions for all adds in all activities will have the same (CTR , CPM..... etc) calculations ? or each add in each activity will have its own? and if no, can i make this idea by using different add network apps?
Sorry about my noob questions really this field is very confusing and sorry about my bad English.

Hello,
No need for apologies; I'm happy to help
Yes, you can use multiple ads from the same network throughout your app. Or, if you'd like to try out multiple ad networks (many devs do!), you can use ads from different networks however you would like throughout your app. It's really up to you, and most networks are pretty flexible about letting developers control where the ads show up!
In most cases, a different ad will be displayed every time an adEvent is triggered. Since it is a different/new advertisement, the revenue calculations will be a bit different depending on the agreement that your ad network has with the advertiser (some run CPC campaigns, others run CPI campaigns, etc...)
Also, unless you are using only banner ads, I don't recommend placing an ad in every activity because the user may find it annoying and it could disrupt their experience. This is just a suggestion though You can also test out different ad placements to see which ones your users respond to the most.
If you have more questions, let me know!
Good luck!

Best Ad network to monetize my APP

Hi guys
I'm looking for a good ad network to monetize my apps. What's the best network for native ads? With best fill rates and payouts? And which one are the worst and why?
Also if you know the same stuff about interstitial, that would be really helpful.
Any advise would be hugely appreciated! Please share your experience. Thanks

I recommend admob. I've got around 50,000 impressions with 98% fill rate with admob. Admob pays well for clicks in USA, Italy, Japan, and some other rich countries (around 1$ per click). For other countries, including UK, it doesn't pay so well but it has coverage in almost all countries. In Pakistan and India, it pays around 0.02$ per click. On average, you might get more or less 0.20$ per click if your app is disturbed worldwide. So target the above mentioned countries if you want to make money with ads. With few users it is very difficult to reach the payout threshold i.e 100$. So you need many users and they must be frequent as well.
AdMob often works perfectly for that, but not in all cases. There are other ad networks which can beat it sometimes.
I'd recommend you to try ad mediation services. Mediation services aggregate the best demand offers from multiple networks, perform an auction between them and put the most profitable ad in your app. The main advantage is that you don’t have to sign up account for each network, set them up, integrate and control how they perform.
Speaking about myself, I've just switched to Appodeal, there's their kinda official topic in that subforum too, where they answer questions. I think you may try them
Ad mediation sounds really good, but for devs who are struggling to get installs will get stuck because they will not reach the payout threshold of either of the networks. Indie developers like me would want to receive the first payment as soon as possible, and it is already difficult to reach threshold of one network when you have so little number of installs.

You can try Appodeal. They have around 30 ad networks connected, but they create the accounts themselves and take care about the payout: there is an immediate payout feature, so when pay you in advance, there's no minimum amount.

What happens to your current earnings in admob? I mean if appodeal is paying me for admob then what would admob's console show? And please confirm that even if I have 1$ payable earnings, world appodeal still pay me? (Wire transfer does not cost anything)
And does admob allow such integration? Because the website's video tells me to install an extension which will run a script.

AdMob doesn't have a problem with mediation, there's a plenty of services and startups who use AdMob's advertisers. That's completely legal.
There's basically two options, you can set up an Appodeal account and use only it, then you won't even have the AdMob console, Appodeal will use their own accounts for your app. However, you will still be able to see the amount of impressions/clicks/etc each network gave you.
But if you want, you can connect your own AdMob account to Appodeal, in that case you'll be able to see AdMob's own stats in their console. In that case Appodeal will take care about all other networks above from AdMob.
If you want that $1 immediately, there's an immediate payout. There's about 2% cut, but you get it right away. That's because Appodeal pays you from their pocket, before ad networks wired anything at all.
