[Q] Legend water detection sticker? - Legend General

Does anyone know where the water detection sticker (or whatever it's using) is located in the Legend?
After I stupidly left my Legend in the bathroom while I took a shower my phone is acting up. Basically there's a horizontal row on the digitizer that isn't working and when you've used the phone for a while the digitizer goes all crazy and adds a huge vertical offset to all touch coordinates; you press an icon at the bottom of the screen and it thinks you're pressing one in the top row etc. After a reboot it works again for a few minutes of interaction and then it's the same problem again.
The phone is still covered by warranty but before I send it in I'd like to check if the water detection sticker indicates that the warranty is voided (which means that I'll have to pay a service fee and they won't fix it). Since the phone already has been to service once (also problems with the digitizer, they exchanged it) the IMEI/warranty void stickers covering the screws are already removed so I can open it to have a peek if necessary.
Any ideas?

Looks like it might be beneath the micro SD card. If you remove the bottom plate and then the battery, then take out the micro SD card there is a small white (in my case) square that is visible. I'm not 100% certain that this is what you're looking for but it's the only thing visible that looks like it could be the detection sticker.

There is also a similar small round white sticker on the top side of the battery. I heard somewere this is also a water detector.

Thanks guys! Checked both indicators and they're as white as they can be so this little piggy is off to warranty repair again.

Just to inform u,my phone was on a bath tab for two or three minutes(still alive) an the small sticker on the battery is still white. Might be that indicator is hidden somewhere else . Haven't checked the one underneath micro SD card.
Good luck.

I guess you already tried hard reset?.
Can you get to bootloader mode?.
Tried hard resets, and getting to bootloader mode, i think this is a malfunction with the actual device, I just need to find out how to get in touch with o2 support internationally, i was wondering if someone on here may have had this problem too.
Thanks.
white screen - connector loose?
I too have this problem - but if I twist the screen away from the keyboard I get the display back. I suspect there's a connector loose inside but haven't looked inside.
Anyone on the forum any experience of getting inside and reseating connectors?

Hello there,
I had to get inside my xda to replace the screen that one of my dear rug rats broke. it is quite easy to do, and you only need to get into the screen side of it to get at the conectors. spin the screen half way round and look at the bottom and you will see 6 small screws. take out the two furthest out and two in the middle nearest the screen side. if you take them all out the whole thing becomes hard to handle. the front cover should GENTLY leaver off, and the cables to it exposed. even if they look in place lift the catch holding them in place and take them out and wipe the contacts with a cloth. just be very carefull with the cable strips as they tear very easy. . any problems then PM me

thanks for this posting - worked perfectly once i had worked out that atually you need to remove the screws further away from the screen in the middle. but otherwise I have successfully resurected a brick into a working universal! thanks!

The various connections under the battery cover

Just wondering what some of these are for, if anything.
Take it as looking at it with the camera on your left, and the microSD slot on the bottom.
So I know the bottom left white spot is a moisture sensor, and the bottom right red is a reset button.
What do the three connections next to the sim card do, or the "void" hole just above it?
Another thing I've noticed, is that there are two (very small) metal connections in line with the edge of battery/sim card. One on either side of the device, which match up with two metal patches on the battery cover.
What is this for? I know on the Nokia N86 there is something very similar which is used for the FM transmitter.

Its the power connections etc for when you use the car kit, which requires a replacement back cover.

Which are?
The ones by the sim card or the two pins connecting to the current battery cover?

Ah ok.
Anyone know what the other connections are for?
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the two pins for the car kit make it pretty straightforward for someone to release an inductive charger like the Palm-Pre touchstone thing?
"void" hole
Hello!
How about the "void" hole - I assume it's not for soft-reset.
I just pushed with a pen in it - do I have problems with warranty now?
Thanks for your reply!
Funny, I just saw that 'void' hole today myself and was wondering what it was for.
Guess it somehow changes if you pry the phone open yourself? For a second I thought I had voided my warranty somehow when I saw the little button.
void hole = SCREW.
It's there so you don't remove the screw underneath to disassemble the phone (which will VOID the warranty). Once the VOID sticker on the screw is torn, you can pretty much kiss whatever warranty you have good bye. Then again, if you like to tinker and dissect your phone, chances are you dont give a crap about warranty.
"void" hole
hello lude219
Thanks for your reply concerning void hole.
This I asked at another thread:

Hmm, I didn't remove the whole void thing, I just picked with a pen in it. (no screw came out, I even couldn't see one using a microscope)
I'd contact HTC asap to better check on this issue. They could have avoided this matter if they would produce a better manual describing where you can find the reset button & where you souldn't touch!!

The manual does tell you where the reset button is located, plus it wouldn't say 'void' on it.

LOL dont stress out, man. If you didn't puncture the sticker in any shape or form, it should be fine. Just know that there's a screw underneath that VOID sticker.

[Q] Water damaged Motorola Defy

My Defy's back panel opened accidentally when submerged in water. So i removed battery and all cards. But since i was out of station i couldn't do anything with the phone. For almost 40 hrs water was there inside my phone. I could see it in between the lcd screen and the outer gorilla glass. Gave the phone to a local repair center. They did something to dry out my phone. Now the phone boots up well, all the function and all the radios too are working.
Problem is,
1) screen shows some signs of water damage
2) Left edge of screen almost the left most 1 cm part does not sense touch (Works sometimes)
3) First capacitive button on the left does not work (works sometimes)
4) Proximity sensor does not work (the area where sensor is located looks empty coz notification LED can be seen from this sensor window. Guess the local repair guy fiddled with it)
So i want to repair all this damage done. Is this damage repairable or should i consider replacing any parts. Would replacing the screen be a good idea? where can i buy this screen and the proximity sensor as well
Thanks for your help in advance.
hello
A friend of my had the same accident and he take his phone to repair an they changed the display and now it is working perfectly...

Dude since you are in India buying parts has only one solution - ebay ! However, you may try going to Motorola service center and ask them if the parts can be availed! However, if in Delhi you may go to places like Gaffar market. Probably such places exists in your place too.. The local service guy may be able to tell you about it
Thanks a lot. I think I'll replace the touch screen digitizer. That will leave only the proximity sensor to be something about. I dont think we get this sensor as a spare part anywhere.
One more question. Camera shows inverted images in the display. Any fixes for it?

[Q] Scary brown patch on white screen on Tmous Hd2.Need help

Ok..so i've been using my TMOUS Hd2 for sometime, but suddenley i see a scary brown patch on the white screen of my hd2..like a ghost looking at me..you know i mean..my question here ,is it a faulty lcd? or motherboard issue? or digitizer? but hey wait let me tell you everything works fine..the touch is perfect no screen lags,no freeze on screen..working flawless only when the phone pulls up white background like browser & start up screen "stick together" overall any white background the brown patch shows up..can anyone confirm this issue..any fix? Please let me know.. appreciate all the help..thanks much
Attaching the pic of brown patch ghost sitting inside my Hd2
if it is located around the middle, top half of the creen, it could be pressure related to an expanding battery. Does the patch get worse if you press on it? It seems illogical that a glass screen would be susceptible to newtonian pressure rings, but in the case of an expanding battery, when you press the screen, the pressure is actually coming from the back.
I've had like a dozen HD2's, and first noticed it when I used an aftermaket battery, which after a few months started getting thicker and thicker and I noticed the newtonian pressure rings. If that's the case with you, go back to the stock battery, or take out the battery door and try it again to see if problem goes away. If it goes away, you know it's time for another $3 ebay battery!
@ atlaswing did you actually check the screenshot attached? the brown patch is not just in the middle it's starting from the bottom and going upward..like a volcano eruption..u know i mean?..i haven't used aftermarket battery, but yes i did buy one to keep it handy..so i'm using the original battery, but well i see that the water damage sticker on the phone battery outlet inside it looks white so its not water damaged i still got void sticker on..so never opened for service, but yes the sticker on battery has turned lil pinkish white..not red to be called water damaged.probably moisture or kinda stuff, but my concern is what i said above ,its like a brown patch all around the white screen, which don't make any issues with the usage or touch or any hang or freeze
Anyone know if this is an issue with the digitizer or just the lcd screen?
I would lean towards lcd but would need device in hand to be more sure.
lcd has a plastic film on it so could be an issue with that ...

Screen Flicker/Flash

I just got a used unlocked G930A. I used odin to update to 7.0. When I use any app the screen will go dark for a fraction of a second maybe once or twice a minute . it will also pause youtube video once or twice a minute. Both problems also happen in safe mode. I'm not sure if it did on android 6. Any ideas, I would really appreciate any help, i'm all out of ideas.
Thanks
It could be related to water damage. If water got into the phone, especially through the sim card slot, the phone screen will act crazy. Since you got a used phone, it could be water damaged. It could also be the result of a hard- drop impact, causing the screen ribbon cable to slightly move on the inside. If you take out the sim card tray, and take a flashlight and shine it on the inside, you should see a white sticker with red X's on it. If the sticker is full on red, with no white, then Im afraid your phone has been water damaged, and there is not much you can do about it other than get the phone repaired.
