I'm supprised how poor HTC's customer service is.
I phoned them last week to arrange collection of my DHD which needs to go in for repair. The guy on the phone said i'd have to wait 48 hours to get a call back to arrange collecton. Being a Thursday, it could have been Monday till I got a call, so I phoned back the next day and demanded they arrange collection on the phone that day which they did.
The guy on the phone said he didn't think much of HTC and wouldn't recomend them to his friends??
Today I called back to see when the repair will be completed and to mention that they shouldn't be advertising htcsense.com as a feature as it doesn't woek and is not fit for purpose. The guy on the phone got really defensive and started talking all over me. Wouldn't give me his name or put me though to his manager.
HTC have a lot of work to do in this area. It seems they just hire a bunch of chavs who have no understanding with dealing with customers. If they wanna take market share from Apple and others they need to get this right.
To be honest I can't believe in what you wrote here.
I had my old desire serviced. Took them only a phone call to get delivery arranged. All details sent on my email. Pickup the next day from my workplace (hospital) although repair took 4 more days but every time I've called them they always explained what is happening. Delivery back to my workplace.
When I got my Desire HD and rang customer support and guy behind the phone asked few questions and was ready to get my delivey details.
I think that when you called HTC you had your attitude on before you rang them and instead being nice polite and professional you just shouted at first person you got in touch with.

Who said I shouted? Infact, are you the guy I spoke to at HTC trying to defend himself?
Seems like a likey explaination as you seem so confident as to how the telephone call went...
You might be unlucky or something because when I had my HD2 I called the customer service.and got a replacement within a day and it happened twice! Well I admit that Orange france had something to do with it..and I'm sure the same can be done with my desire.hd

I had problems with the SD card dismounting constantly. Just been dealing with Christian in Customer Realtions who is very good. Thanks Christian.
I think mattskeen, read your post and like myself assumed you phoned in acting like a prick and got treated as one, customer service aren't there to be mouthed off at, treat them with respect and usually they treat you in kind! Don't blame people and assume they are 'the enemy' when your tone just plain sucks!

Well looking at what you just wrote down as a reply in don't blame customer support because you are an arse. You assumed that it work for HTC. There is a topic somewhere on XDA about HTC customer service and most of the people are happy with it...
You see I think that biggest pain is BT when it comes to customer support and yet never had a problem with dealing with them. I think you lack people skills and You can be irritated quite easily (e.g you accusing me of being person you spoke with when called HTC and that was me just passing my experience with HTC CS)

Their customer service is quite poor. I reported a reproducible bug, 3 days laters I got a standard bull**** answer "reset your phone", then told them the bug was still there and I was totally ignored from there.
Just great...

How can you possibly comment on the phone call if you we'rent party to it? Or maybe you were. I bet you work there too and are sticking up for your pal..
Or are you assuming because I used the word demanded? If so anyone can demand without losing thier temper.
I stick with my first hunch, You work there...

You are making yourself look stupid. I'd quit now if I were you.
Guys guys, calm down, its only a phone!!
I'm sure HTC have better things to do than monitor forums and defend themselves on them all!
My one and only experience with HTC was an email to complain about an issue after a software upgrade and received what looked like and autoresponder telling me to factory reset my phone.
Personally, I wasn't too impressed myself... (and the factory reset didnt work!)...

You're right Gavin, Its only a phone, this is becoming heated as a couple here are becoming overley defensive about HTC, I wonder why? haven't they got any calls to answer?
Being told to wait for two days just to get a call back and take my address and arrange for collection just doesn't cut it these days. Two days to fix it, fine.. but just to take my address? why couldn't they have just done it then and got on with it.
It does make you think twice about where you spend your money. i bought this sim free for cash. If I was experiancing issues with an iPhone they just give you a replacement. Same with my Macbook, the casing cracked and they still fixed it out of warranty! Apple have the best customer service experiance of any company i've delt with.
HTC customer service employies are so immiture and defensive. but then again thats down to the lack of training and poor selection in the interview process. There are of course exceptions to this. As I mentioned Christian in their customer liason in very good at his job.
But they need to get over this one, a nice flashy phone is all well, but when it goes wrong you have thick chavs to deal with who are only there to collect the wage and clearly don't give a ****e about the customer or HTC. Clearly...last week one of them told me HTC phones were junk and he wouldn't recomend them.
Support for HTC seems to vary significantly by country and mobile provider.

I've got that problem too - it's an SD card issue, not the phone. Other SD cards work fine in my phone, try a replacement SD!
My collegue had problem (display was miscolloured some times) with his HD2, he got message to send hes pone to HTC and receaved it back after few day with brand new processor. Greate service
LOL, I'm not a HTC Customer Support guy, just the tone of your post doesn't paint you in the best light...and I tried to tell you that...if you want to believe I'm a HTC employee that's fine, believe what you want but you need to realise that its your tone and attitude that make a couple if us think you were actually like that to them :/
But you know, whatever helps ya sleep at night

Overall I have had a great experience with this phone. It is fast, has great hardware, and even had some faith in Samsung for Froyo fixing some of the problems I was having with it. However, when I arrived at school today I pulled my phone out my pocket to check my text messages, and low and behold my screen is shattered internally. My phone does not have 1 scratch on it and has been babied like crazy. This is completely unacceptable for a ~$600 device meant to be transported in pockets and such. I don't have TEP but I will be up at Sprint raising hell until either I walk out of there with a new Epic or Evo.
Has anyone else had this issue happen or have any luck with Sprint fixing it?
Obviously while in your pocket it was not "babied". Phones don't magically break without a reason.

x2..not to raise any wild hairs, but you obviously bumped it up against something. Sprint will replace your screen, but for $35. And thats only if you purchased the Epic after they changed their insurance rules. If you don't have TEP and you bought the phone before that, I don't think there is anything Sprint will do for you. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, I worked in wireless sales for a little while..please don't believe you are going to walk into the store and just magically get swapped out for the Evo. You will get what you have, an Epic. The Epic is an overall better phone anyway, minus the amount of dev support.
Be polite when you go into the store, thats the best way to get someone to side with you.
For what's its worth for those who aren't MOD EDIT: LANGUAGE it was an obvious hardware defect as I take extremey good care of my s***. I got it replaced on the spot free of charge.
Flaming quote removed
I've been called worse, thanks for the compliment! ;D
Welcome to the forum, btw..you probably won't be here long!
What an ironic name you sport.
Congrats on your replacement, though, I guess not everyone's a cynic like us.
I think sprint honers the 1yr manufactures warrantee regardless if you have insurance or not. Just have to fall into that category of a defect or something.
I was voicing concerns over the build quality of the screen in my phone and asking if anyone else had similar experiences to find out if I am the only one this has ever happened too or if there are any known issues before going into the store. Instead people reply with smart ass emoticons . Pardon my frustration . And btw you guys must have a lot of faith in a company that mass produces millions of phones to not even consider the fact that maybe just maybe a sub standard panel was put into a phone. I take it none of you lived through the debacle that was the moment. So since no one else seems to have had any issues with a weak internal screen I shall let the thread die off.

I have seen this happen with other devices before. It's not always due to negligence.
Even if its not your fault your attitude is still out of line. If you look no one else is like.. oh yeah my screen did the same thing! You really think you should scold a company and a sales rep because they replaced your phone for free?

I've had a hell of a time trying to get this damn phone activated. It shows it's charged, but all it says during hands-free activation is "contacting network", and never finishes. Tried updating the profile, but naturally, that takes data to work, so that certainly wasn't successful. Talked to tech support, and they had me try resetting the phone, didn't help. I've left it plugged in for 2 more hours, still didn't activate. I do not want to call tech support again, they talk to me like I'm an idiot and it annoys the crap out of me.

I had the same problem when I was at radioshack. They bad to call tech and get a dialing code to reset some settings. Just call and say you got disconnected from tech and you want to go back. If you don't say that they will try to fix it themselves.

I've noticed that if I am patient and pleasant with the people on the phone, usually they are reasonable when we have a conversation. Not getting mad or yelling or name calling isn't good. I try to keep the conversation kinda professional and relaxed and most of the time they are the same way back to me. Maybe some reps can confirm this? I've heard many say that if you are cool with them, they might go the extra mile with you. If you are a **** or ***** on the phone, they won't want to help you even though it is their job. Understand what it is like to be in their position and treat/speak with them like you want to be treated. Common sense stuff.
They deal with difficult and rude customers all day. They probably like it a lot when someone is civil with them. Duh!

I can confirm being a former call center rep myself for another company (still with them hence the lack of naming, just moved up the ladder), we are a lot more inclined to go the extra mile and ensure everything you need to taken care of if you give us the same respect we try our best to give you

Oh I was very nice and polite, but if I had to go through a third tech support person, then I was going to get a bit angry with them. Luckily, the second guy knew what he was doing and my Shift is great. Battery's dead, mostly because I was downloading updates in an area with no service (I hope that's the reason anyway, always was with my Hero)
Another thought is that even though it's very annoying when dealing with people that seem clueless, they can't help it if someone poorly trained them or told them to troubleshoot by reading a script in a book they might have in front of them. I bet many are just like many other people out there. They need a job and it's not their fault if their employer did a ****ty job training them. I've had quite a few jobs where IF the employer DID train, it would be the absolute minimum and then they throw you to the wolves. Sink or swim. You figure it out along the way, if you can. The idiots expect maximum results with minimum efforts. And again, I digress.
Activating mine was a major pain. I spoke with 3 reps and 1 supervisor before someone thought to ask me if I had turned off my old phone first. Turns out that was the problem.

It probably can be if he's set it up right, but you can use that to help return it to him (assuming that's what you're intending). As far as I know it does use GPS.

The right thing to do is find out who's phone it is and return it , its pretty easy with the data kept on phones "now a days".. The HTC online service can used to lock the phone , wipe data , track phone etc. But this feature is useless if the phone is off or the sense account is deleted or changed on the phone.
Correct me if I'm wrong !

Previous post is completely correct. I'd just return it save you the trouble. I mean put yourself in their shoes, how would you feel if you lost you phone?
Do the right thing. Return it.
Hand it in to your local police station, make sure they log it and give you a reference number. Then after a set period of time, possibly 4 weeks, if the owner has not claimed it you can legally claim it.
However, the owner has probably reported it as lost and had it network barred. Not sure if you can then get it removed, but that is the right thing to do.
you'r right dude thanks

Hey guys,
About 3 months ago I purchased an HTC One as I admired the level of craftsmanship put into the device. Unfortunately, the first device came with a minor protrusion of the screen at the top right corner. Because that point is exactly where a right handed person touches the phone to access the notification bar. I tried to return the phone but unfortunately my provider would not take it back and give me another, as it had been a little over 14 days since I had purchased it.
I went ahead and contacted htc customer care, who went out of their way to make an RMA for me and took care of the replacement process. I was very grateful, but unfortunately the second phone that arrived had also a cosmetic fault, a discoloration of the back of the phone that was apparent under mild light conditions.
Again I contacted HTC who replaced the second phone as well without causing me any further trouble. The next phone that arrived turned out to be fine. As originally disappointed as I was by the relatively poor manufacturing control of the early HTC one phones, the customer care of HTC completely won me over with their supportive stance and I felt it's worth writing a few words about. The morals of the story are, firstly that you shouldn't accept a device you're not happy with (especially at this price range!), but also that it's not just the product at hand, but the after sales care that matters too.

I find this quite incredible, given my, still ongoing experience of HTC UK. What a difference. Checkout my UK experience.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425001
I must re-iterate that I WAS a HTC fan, and have had excellent service from HTC UK previously when I owned a desire, but my recent experience is appalling. Being a fan I wanted the HTC One. I also previously authored threads detailing how great HTC repair were when I had problems with my desire.
I am somewhat relieved that there is good service elsewhere. I have exchanged tweets with HTC senior execs with regards my HTC experience and have a personal commitment to action it (no news yet). I'll tweet this thread to him also. Take a look at the pics of my "repaired" device delivered yesterday from uk repair. Thanks for the thread. I was sure that this was a UK specific problem, and it appears it is.

I totally agree you should fight but its inappropriate to fight at every single xda thread as its not htc official forum. He should probably lodge a consumer complaint if they he not satisfied. He must blog about it but thats not a way to go in everywhere and say its happening like this. And i paid full 43000INR thats 720$. That too i didnt get money from dad it was my 2years savings from pocket money. Flaming every thread will not offer you solution to your problem.

Hardly every xda thread, and they are related, but point taken. Im confident that HTC are in the process of resolving my problem so no more posts in this thread for me. I wont apologize for posting in this thread though, because I know that senior HTC eyes have read both threads and that both are possibly relevant.

The One X had a major design flaw, though only apperant after prolonged usage and only with people with fitting jeans but in all honesty the crap people are giving for these minor gaps/misaligments is just absurd, no other phone is looked at under such aesthetic scrutiny and almost no one would notice unloess you visited a forum like XDA
If you bought a One you must like HTC in some way but then to demand like an x number of exchanges until the gaps are truely microscopic will drive the company which makes the phones you like to bankrupcy...

why make a phone and market it with its flawless desing then ?? just make a simple good smart phone like Samsung ... i don't buy HTC for the looks .. i buy it for the sense ... but don't go market a phone based on its amazing looks ... then u get surprises like these .. kind of like lying !! which is not cool !
First of all i would like to say its the worst customer care their is. It all started yesterday when i tried contacting Google because of random reboots and the side of the volume/power button was a little swollen and how it gets to hot while watching youtube vids. Google was friendly and they said they couldn't do anything because i bought my 6p on Best Buy so i had to contact Huawei. The next day i tried communicating with Huawei and they mad me hold for an hour and they finally pickup and said i "we cant hear you" -lasted 5 secs and they hang up this happened two times. Finally i got so mad i decided to call Google and i told this Huawei had really bad customer service i couldn't get in touch with them they were friendly again and they finally helped me get in touched with Huawei Thankfully. The first person was friendly he said he had to ask me to send him pics of the phone to see the swollen part i said ok and i sent him the pictures but he said to call him back in 30-40mins. I took the pictures of the problem i called them and they were quick at answering the phone call but they just said they were gonna need my email to send me instruction which i did but then i saw the email and they were shipping instructions which they never said anything about me sending the device, i asked the person what was the plan he said that if i couldn't hear i told him yeah i can but you didn't explain me nothing or the reason you want me to send the device, then he said 'there must be something wrong that you cant even hear me" in a rude tone ) then i said "well thanks for your help i would just want to know if i will be able to get a phone before i send mine because thats my business number he said theres no way and hang up. In conclusion this is the worst costumer service i ever seen and do not know what to do. i use my phone for business which helps me give my family food and where to sleep- i'm a locksmith , i will provide pics and proof of the swollen side. i need help in what should i do because its takes 7-10 days to get my phone fixed plus the shipping thats alot of time.
issues with my phone: -Turns off randomly- rarely - gets really hot when i watch vids - phone its a little swollen in the side of volume rocker - not really noticeable but worries me

Hi... Some N6P users reported they have had a good customer support from Huawei, some didn't... I have seen some complaining of being asked a copy of the recipient which they didn't have since they bought the phone used. And Huawei denied to replace their phone. While some didn't have to justify anything, either for bootloop or battery issues.
I guess it's always a matter of who answer the phone when you call them. I'd call again and try to speak with another "more reasonable" Huawei employee until you get satisfied of the answer you get. I doubt they'll send a replacement before inspecting your device. Haven't see this scenario yet. Some lucky people received a 64/128GB instead of their 32/64GB they originally had. If you don't have a backup phone, I don't know what you can do.
I'd send it as fast as possible, before it explodes or burn in your pocket since the phone is already swollen, I would fear the worse if it was me...
Good luck...

Hi,
I'd call back both Google and Huawei.
I'd let them know you plan to call the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) and file a complaint about the swollen battery.
Swollen batteries are a serious issue and can rupture and catch fire.
They need to replce the device in or out of warranty since this is a serious issue.

Is a grammar lesson really necessary?
Sorry to hear that, Huawei si awful, I tried to contact them when mine bent and they never answered or replied, I tried to contact them when my phone started powering off early and they never answered or replied. When it got to bootloops, the warrranty was expired.
I will never give these people my money again.
Your battery is about to explode or your phone bent(pretty common). probably shouldnt risk using it.

You should always phone in a warranty repair so that you have someone on the other side confirm/troubleshoot any issues as emails may get lost.
Unfortunately, I've seen people complain about customer support from Samsung, HTC, OnePlus, Motorola, Huawei, and Google. It seems either those with issues are the ones being outspoken, or customer service from cellphone manufacturers are just bad.

Notice I speicified, didnt answer, when they did answer each tie they couldnt find my incident number. I had to give up. Ive dealt with other manufacturers, this was hands down the worst experience ive ever had. At least other manufacturers remembered when I called. I seriously believe they just didnt want to deal with it and had to check with managers as a way to get me off the line.
sorry to hear that mate. Have you tried going to best buy and claim the warranty? perhaps its easyer with them.
best of lucks!

There is a difference between small structural errors that really don't affect anything and being nearly unreadable.
