[Q] Flashing new radio with android nand installed - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi guys
I am thinking about updating my 2.12.50 radio to 2.14 or 2.15 to improve battery life. How shall I do it having nand android installed?
Is it as simple as booting into bootloader (tri-colour screen) and then flash it? Will that not affect my android installation?
Thanks

Yes mate - that's all there is to it.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App

Can someone please do a tutorial
How do you get your phone into that tricolor screen and what to after. All help is much appreciated.
I have an HD2 running android NAND, there is no windows on the phone. I have an old radio (2.08.50.08_2) and would like to flash a new one but don't know how. All the tutorials i could find were done on windows.
Q) Also when flashing a new rom, will this upgrade the radio?

You do it exactly the same way as under windows. Switch phone off, hold vol down button in while turning device on and you will get tot the tri-coloured screen. Connect to pc and when "usb" shows up on device screen, flash the radio.
As to your question, it depends. If you flash a stock winmo rom, then the radio will change. 90% of cooked roms do not include radios (there are a few that do/did) and therefore flashing one of those will not change the radio.

[Q] HD2 Doesnt upgrade

Hi,
Today I've tried to install android onto my HD2. After installing 'mgdlr' to my phone it stopped doing upgrades alltogether.
Mgdlr did install correctly but after the reset I only got that white HTC screen.
I know I have to press the power button really long etc etc (I've read the guide thoroughly).
Now, when I try to install anything it doesn't go any further than 0%. Not with any (official) ROM, radio etc.
I've done several hard resets, soft resets and re-installs but nothing gets past 0%.
Does anyone have any clue what happened and why I can't install a ROM and perhaps knows how to fix it?
What are you trying to install? An android rom? Are you going to the flashing mode in magldr? it's option 4 or 5, I think. Magldr was installed successfully? What radio do you have?
I was indeed trying to install an android rom. My radio version was/is 3.14.404.2
I never got to that mode. I've seen it in video's but mine doesn't. I only get that white screen with, in green letters, HTC on it. No matter how long I hold down the power button.
Btw, I said that magdlr installed succesfully because it installed without errors. But I think it's malfunctioning because it obviously isn;t doing what it's supposed to. Re-installing it isn't an option because it hangs at 0%
Did you try task29? might help with your upgrading issues.

Which NAND rom did you use?
You mean your radio is 2.14.404.2 right, not 3.14.404.2?
Also what is your SPL, it appears in the tri color screen/bootloader.

I think youre right about the radio. It was the standard radio of the latest stock rom. Is there any way to check? My spl is 2.08.0000.
And I was going for rafdroid, not that it matters because I never got close to installing a rom.
Thanks for the replies so far!

if your spl is 2.08.0000, first, how did you get magldr to instal since it requires hspl? second, if you removed hspl after flashing magldr (hence 2.08.0000 and not 2.08.hspl as it should be), why?
enter bootloader, does it really say 2.08.0000?
You dont have to press the power button for 'really long' only about 5 seconds, so long as its the right 5 seconds, , , start the phone, first splashscreen appears, just as the first splashscreen is about to end, (after around 5/6 seconds) start pressing power, and keep it held till the magldr menu appears.

Mate, I need more info.
1. Your device version (branded or non branded?)
2. Your rom version before you start anything (stock or custom rom?, if stock, is it version 3.14 (the latest one)?)
3. Version of Android (NAND or SD Android?)
4. Are you planning to have dual boot WP7 and SD ANdroid?
5. Do you have HSPL installed?
The solution will depend on your answer on the above question
Cheers
Ive tried task29 but it does the same as any other update. It just wont let me flash anything, it keeps hanging at 0%

Additional info:
When running task 29, first it says From: image version:

And when I start the progress bars appear on both my comp and phone.
Afterwards it gave me a communications error.

Ok. Let's start from the very beginning.
Find the CORRECT STOCK ROM first. You go to htc website and use your serial number to download the rom. Make sure your downloaded file is not corrupt.
Get micro sd and use PC to format it to fat 32.
Extract the stock rom and find file with the name: RUU_signed.nbh. Rename it to: leoimg.nbh.
Turn off the phone (make sure battery at least 50% capacity), put your micro sd.
Now, press the VOLUME DOWN BUTTON (don't release it), then press POWER ON button at the same time until white screen appear. Now, follow the on screen instruction.
If you succeed, check your spl by going into boot loader screen.
If your spl is other than spl 3.03, you can continue with next process. Installing SPL 3.03 HSPL.
Then, Do task 29. Then, flash radio 2.15.xx. Then install magldr 1.13.
All process can be done while in the boot loader screen.
If you succeed, you will be brought to mgldr screen. Select option no.5 (USB flasher) and press the green phone call button and connect it via USB, now run the NAND ANDROID you choose from your PC. If fails, retry the process from magldr screen and try different USB port. Also, make sure your anti virus, firewall, and Internet is turn off.
Good luck...
Thank you man, it worked!
I did everything you said and my phone is back up and running
Thanks!

[Q] cant seem to flash new radio

Hi guys.
I have been searching and searching with no luck.
I am using a hd2 dual booting between wp7 and android.
Android is giving me hassles - sound ( robotic ), phone etc. So I want to change the radio. I am using magldr 1.13.
When I put the phone into bootloader ( vol down - power key ) and go through the RUU until when it says, ...................0%. It just hangs there.
Please help or any suggestions.

Try another USB port, maybe the drivers for the port you are using are not correct or have been corrupted. If you still get the same results try another computer. If neither of those two this.vs work try a different USB cable. Your problem has to be one of these as you have all the required elements such as HSPL and working bootloader on your HD2.
Hi thanks for responding.
I have tried two computors , two diff. USB cables.Diff. ports with no luck.
The wp7 rom works perfectly but not the android rom. Could this just be a buggy android rom.But bootloader should be fine anyways.

Well it is not so much a buggy Andriod build. The robot voice thing is a common problem with Sd card Andriod builds. Flashing to a different radio does find this problem a good bit and aloto sometimes if you get some one to call you and you answer and then emidiatly hang up it will fix the problem until you turn turn the Pbone off and then reboot Andriod.
As far as your problem with not being able to flash a different radio. If you have a T-Mobile HD2 make sure the radio version has a 50 in the same spot as this one 2.15.50.14. this means the radio is compatible with the TMOUS HD2. Do not use any radio version with these numbers in them 2.04.50.xx or 2.05.50.xx or any 2.xx.51.xx for any of these will brick a TMOUS HD2.
Also if you have tried different ports, computers, and USB cables I sugest you either redownload the radio version you are trying to flash as it might be a bad download or just find another radio version to try or maybe even a different place to download the radio version you are trying to flash. Make sure you manualy put hour Pbone in bootloader and when you plug the USB cable in make sure it says USB in the white bar at tbe bottom of the screen of bootloader. Bootloader will time out for mutie reasons and will not allow a flash until you turn it off and put it in bootloader again.
Sorry about the long period between post I was on my way to work this morning when I posted, just got off work not to long ago.
or copy the radios .nbh file to the sdcars, rename it leoimg.nbh go into the bootloader and it should see the leoimg.nbh and flash it
make sure its a compatible radio

[Q] Possible Brick?? Some help if possible

Hey Guys,
I have NFI what happened to my phone but I think its bitten then dust..
I've been running NAND Android builds for a while now, the phone has been a bit funky for a few weeks now so I wanted to completely wipe and start form scratch..
So I download Task29 a new radio and ROM from the links in the ROM page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951) and ran Task29 like I have multiple times before.
The install went fine, and the phone rebooted like its meant to but now its stuck on the HTC screen, I can't boot in MAGLDR or HSPL...
So, is it borked??
suitable radio? suitable spl? both are critical. magldr wont work without 2.08.hspl and a ..50.. radio

The radio that was installed on before running TASK29 was, Radio Leo 2.15.50.14.
It already had HSPL v2.08 and MGLDR 1.3, already installed.
As I said, I've flashed new WinMo and Android ROM's hundreds of times, I mean I dont normally run Task29 before every install but I have multiple times in the past.
I only ran Task29 today as the phone was being really bad so I though a clean install might be the best way to go.
hmm, not sure what to suggest without sounding patronising, hehe,
there are a few people that cant seem to get magldr to start, for no good reason,
reflash the radio (just in case) manually go check the spl in bootloader again (just in case it doesnt say 2.08.hspl,, sometimes what you know for a fact is true actually isnt) and as for magldr, well its susceptible to all the usual flashing issues, , run as administrator, try every usb port, turn off your firewall,,,, try another pc even, , in fact if you have another pc available, try that first.
Thanks for the replies, but I can't get it to boot into MGLDR or SPL thats my problem.
When I turn it on it loads up the 1st HTC logo and hangs.
Is there another way that I can flash a radio of I cant boot into SPL???
I've read something about this before. I don't think it's an easy fix and it may be best to try go back to where you bought it and try get a replacement or send it in to HTC. I'm not too sure if they'll know that you have HSPL installed. I'd say highly likely they will. Have you tried hard resetting? Or can you not get to that screen?
If you want to find more on this just google "HD2 Wsod" or "HD2 White screen of death". You'll find lots if people with the same thing.
My HD2 has something similar but I can get to HSPL but it stays at a blank white screen with normal power on.
What happens when it's off snd you plug in the USB? Does it try start because of MAGLDR or just charge/do nothing?

I know you said you ha e flashed hundreds of times, so you should know this. I am not being patronizing here either, but I will say it anyway. You have gwo different ways to flash a new radio, but both require gou to put gour HD2 into bootloader.
To put your HD2 into bootloader turn the device off and then turn it back on but hold the volume down button wbile it is booting and it will go to bootloader.
Whilr jn bootloader connect via USB cable to gour computer wait until you see USB the wbite bar of bootloader then you can flash the radio, a Win Mo ROM, HSPL, or MAGLDR just wich ever one uou want to flash at that time.
You can use a 500MB to 4GB SD card to flash the radio as well as a Win Mo ROM. You just rename the.nbh file to leoimg.nbh for the radio or the ROM and copy it to the root of your SD card. plasce the SD card back in the device. Put the device into bootloader but do not let go of the volume down botton until you see search hinge on the screen of the device. Be aware though if you flash a official ROM this way it will overwrite everything HSPL and all so you whind up with a stock HD2 again.
Stupid question: you are holding down the volume down button to boot into HSPL right?

[Q] Urgent Help Needed

So i tried flashing an android ROM but its stuck on the AD recovery go go go screen.
I also wanna task 29 but I don't know how to get to the bootloader from MAGLDR 1.3
someone help please !
ummm i dunno if magldr can switch you into the bootloader, but doesn't the regular way to get to the bootloader work?
regular way:
1. make sure phone is OFF...take out the battery and plug it back in to make sure
2. hold down the volume down button
3. tap the power/end call button to power on the device
4. keep holding down volume down button
...bootloader should appear!
i guess you are a senior member so you must be looking for something else, it can't be as simple as above, is it?

Mate,
how about flashing stock rom via SD? dont use your old sd, get the new one, and try to flash the stock rom.
If you can pass that, then you can go back to try magldr again
or else,
I think it may be a hardware issue related, may be the volume down button is damaged. If this the case, since you are in android nand, you cant flash stock rom from USB sync
I hope that is not the case though
goodluck

Hey blackashsid, sorry to hear you are having troubles. Without being able to get to the SPL bootloader you will not be able to flash any .nbh file to your HD2. This translates to you not being able to flash a Windows Mobile ROM stock or custom, a different radio version, splash screen, any HSPL or SPL, or cLK. And yes flashing via SD card is no good to you without the SPL bootloader.
Option #5 USB Flasher in MAGLDR will only flash CWM or A DAF ROM.
Your issue is somewhat strange to me, I really don't understand why you are having this issuer unless it is hardware related.

any reason why this happend ?
if you installed wp7 then it isnt an issue wth the phone, its quite possible the roms you are trying to install
Download again the rom you want to use... and make sure you read installing process - every android rom has his specific installing process - clockwork , ext3 ,ex4 etc etc.

[Q] SERIOUSLY bricked my htc hd2

I tried installing MIUI andriod to my htc hd2, so followed the step. Wich is unlocking the phone, installing MAGLDR. but while installing magldr i forgot to activate active sync. so when i boot my phone, it's stuck on the first screen. all white and HTC written in then middle. i can access the tri-color screen(it says, SPL-2.08.HSPL).
i've tried to hard reset the phone, even that dident work.
what can i do to fix this problem?
thanks in advance
It's not bricked, you probably did not flash a radio that is capable of running MAGLDR.
Install a radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787 with .50 on the back on your HD2 in the tri-color screen as you tried with magldr, europe radios start with 2 (example Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**) TMOUSE radios start with 15 (example Leo_RADIO_15.37.50.07U_2.10.50.08_2).
BE CAREFULL WITH THE RADIO, CHOOSE THE CORRECT ONE OR YOU WILL BRICK THE PHONE!!!
after that flash magldr again and it will work.
Ill try it, thanks!

no need to reflash magldr, its already flashed, it will start once the radio is correct.
