Wm 6.1 Thought?

This may be a really idiotic question but in my mind it really makes sense. But, I only know some basic things about programming and things of that nature, and not to much about ROM's. But anyway, here goes.
I called Htc earlier today, as I do every week to see if there was any new news on a release date for the very , very elusive Official Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade for my Htc Touch/Vougue, from Alltel. Knowing that Alltel is usually one of the last carriers to get things done,
I tried to get a release date from him with no prevail. But he mentioned that Wm6.1 had already been released in a few other countries(Im in the US), which Im sure quite a few of you knew, but I did not. I had actually never heard this, or read about it here, so I called back and brought it up to another tech and he said the same thing, so I am assuming it's true. If they have misled me , then I'm extremely sorry for the waste of space.
Now I dont know what countries he's talking about, no clue actually ,but heres my thought. If it has already been released in an official form from some overseas cell provider, why couldn't someone download the ROM, and somehow add language support for other countries? Couldn't they just remove the Radio portion of the ROM and release an actual wm6.1 ROM.
Now, like I said , I know nothing or ROM's other than what Ive read here over the past few months, and only what little Ive understood of that. But there are Wm6.1 threads everywhere , of people wanting a stock/orig version, so this just crossed my mind. Maybe that where these custom 6.1 roms on here come from? Im not sure. But its just a thought. Anyone care to correct me or comment? Dont be harsh though, I seriously didn't know if this was possible, and thought if it was, why hasnt it been done. Thanks guys.

i think wm6.1 roms are available here for a long time..

It's been realesed in various countries outside of the US most likely because of a higher demand, and HTC operates from Taiwan. The update itself is per carrier and country.

Try the "Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking" section, or the section dedicated to your phone, and you might find what your looking for.
I too am suprised to see curious george hasn't told you to stop thinking, maybe he's been kidnapped or something?

Noticed this a couple of times lately -never used too, it used to go direct to his threads.
Screenies would be nice though and contents list.

The truth is i never downloaded/used a rom from him because of the reasons stated above...but i guess he really doesnt care since every release ppl ask him the same and he never provides.
But i think its a little bit rude to come to a multi-language forum and post links in another language...feels like when i was a kid and my parenths said "i have a guift for you but i wont tell you what it is,if you behave i´ll give it to you...".I got so frustraded all i wanted to do was smash the all thing in front of them and yell at them "GUESS I WILL NEVER KNOW NOW!"...but hey!...i was a problem child.

there are a lot of frustrated here that they didnt receive enough attention, but that doesnt make PhamQuang's ROM better or worse than they are... maybe he is not such a frendly person but he is doing a very good job

well for me its quite simple.If i need the latest rom,or the rom that has been worked and recooked d retouched by the author many times,then i look straight at pdaviet. If i want a rom with standard features or light enough then i look at udk,swtos etc.I am using that rom (v.40) for a couple of days.Look and feel is different,speed is ok and everything works as it should work.

Also for me is simple: I like the ROM's produced by PhamQuang and I using always.
Also I want to thanks to shogunr125 because is posting the links here; I don't know why the original site is asking me for user and password.
Thank you again PhamQuang for your good ROM's.

And actually, he is writing in Vietnamese in a Vietnamese forum. One of our members is simply kind enough to post a link.
Must be some new thing at pdaviet where they want a userid and password to view posts. Shame, cos I can't understand what to fill in to join
Anyway, if you want a documented ROM stick clear of Pham Quang and go with udK, itje, M-Amine etc... plenty to choose from!!
In the meantime, I'm off to try this one.

OK, ROM seems to work fine. No problems encountered to date.
It does not have NetCF installed, nor does it have MMS, Opera or Google Maps.
It also does not appear to have 3D hardware drivers installed.
No big problem though as all are readily available as cabs.
It does have the touch 3g video dialer (I didn't check if it works).
Sorry - I have already installed programs and can't let you know about free RAM etc.

Can anyone confirm if it includes You Tube and Streaming Media?

It does have .Net CF 2.0 installed.
It does have latest 3D drivers form "our" developement team.

Been using this ROM for a few days now and I reckon it's the best about at the moment.
Sure - there's a few basic things that you need to install but IMHO the Jade build seems better suited to the Polaris than the Blackstone builds which all have given me a few problems.
This one might be a keeper (for a couple of weeks anyway )
BTW, no it does not have YouTube or Streaming Media but you can get them as cabs.

Cabs are fine. The problem is, there's a lot floating around so you have to try them all to find out which one works best with this ROM.

frustrating but the best
Agree that the fact that we don't have any answer to our questions is a little bit frustrating, but two points:
1- It's the best rom actually and at the end, what I want is to have a running rom and with some completion, I have a perfect rom for now.
2- What I understood is that it's not directly the rom cooker who post the rom in xda but an "transmiter". So it's normal if this guy do not have all the answers to our questions. And about phamquang, he is constent: he never come to "our" forum. And he can decide probably for some language difficulties or any other reason, to do not share in english his job.
At the end, yes, I'm frustrated to do not communicate more with him to give him my positive feedbacks, eventhough, I'm happy that some one try to establish some link between him and us and make possible for us to take benfits of his job.

PhamQuang is non fussy and very consistent and churns out ROMs real fast. Regularly helps PDAVIET members. Creates neat, small, fast ROMs and mostly they are WWE which is what we need to look at, not breaking our head about whether he visits our forum or whether or not he answers our queries. We have enough of our own masters, chefs and warlords to help us with their suggestions and instructions. Let PhamQuang be king of PDAVIET and provide us with quality ROMs. Sir PhamQuang please keep it going.... Thank you very much for your efforts.

I dont mind dude I actually keep myself up to date regarding androind and WP7 so I guess I can keep updating this.

The update is that "the community" raised over 1300 bucks for Da_G to get some tools for further investigation. this includes a tmous hd2.
HD2 is probably the most likely candidate for first port, however, remember this is uncharted teritory. This will take time to do and a lot of patience on everyones part.
So for now, dev is active on WP7 for HD2, it's preliminary. No certainties on drivers or anything basic yet let alone a fully working WP7 rom for HD2.

These forums are not just limited to the devices and their intitial configurations. Devices are put to the test and well are proven to superseed their performence. If you have spent some amount of money on a device that just does what you saw on TV, it gets old. So please relax and let the developers do their work. so far we are all please and that's the reason why we keep up with the latest trend. You've purchased a windows phone and I am sure you and not fully satisfied with just what you see.

Developers don't try to update to mango

If you have a hd2 and got the email to update to mango, no need to try because you get the infamous "You're phone's registery settings are incorrect" error.
The phone will get stuck in the updating process, But it seems like DFT is releasing a rom for us.

How on earth do you expect to update your system when it isnt actually a official device, where do you think the HD2 specific system files where going to come from, a magic dimension?

After all the years and all the marvelous technology that Cotulla and the rest of DFT have provided free to the XDA-Developer's community you can make a statement like this?
If you were a new member such a statement might be understandable, but since you have been a member since 2008, it seems incredible that you could make such a statement if you are aware of all the contributions these people have provided freely to this community. If you were aware of the true facts there is no way you could even formulate in your mind that any member of DFT has sold his soul to Microsoft.

The "Dark Forces Team" has provided some of the most crucial tools *ever* for lots of devices which are covered here at xda. Thanks to DFT, "normal" users like me can enjoy the greatness of custom ROMs for various WinMo devices (don´t know if others, too...).
Oh, and who knows if DFT will bring a Mango ROM or not... only themselves. After all, the very first WP7 ROM for HD2 came from them, too.

Serious accusations of this nature require verification. Are you able to substantiate your claims with any evidence? If you have no evidence, why are you making these accusations?
Who are these DFT membes who are gone? Have they left XDA- Developers only, or have they left the DFT team as well? By now, I think it is fairly evident that some DFT members no longer or rarely post on XDA-Developers because of posts similar to the above quoted post. That however does not provide evidence that they have been bought out by moneyed interests.
Perhaps your Chinese is so excellent that you understand more of DFT's Chinese site than others and have more evidence to back up your claim.

Oh, and for people who carefully watch what is going on, they already know that DFT actually made the next step.
Means, some patience might be a good advice for impatient people. This actually applies for many areas in everybody´s daily life, doesn´t it?

A new rom, that doesn't work, with some script error reported by someone, with a useful answer telling "If you have some basic knowledge." WTF? If I had some basic knowledge I would also do a new rom every week, with major bugs and no continuity. Right, Mlopik? Right, ilyaaa299?
Please, make your work worth real something, helping people to have a nice rom without you guys thinking that you are the good boys and the other the stupid guys. What a shame!

I know your pain. I feel the same pain as well. Because we are brothers! :silly:
But, I am going to school right now. When I come back and the updater-script is not fixed then I will fix it.

Our sub-forum is complete mess. Users just post roms basically from Chinese foruns yes that's right and without support only with downloads links and nor screenshots, changelog and whatsoever.
I do not want to blame anyone but if you want to help the community to post something good with directions and the rest.
