I am sure if this is possible there is possibility of data being corrupted as some of it resides on NAND and some on RAM

they are two diffrent ideas because in order to place data in ram it has to place it there when booting vs nand where everything is off device memory. every time u shut off the device however, ram is cleared so you would need a back up of the data to replace it on next boot.
maybe some data could placed on soreage card before flashing ...
and then the data from card could be loaded into ram on each start ...
mmhh thats sounds good for me

I believe what Kounno did,was creating a data.img on SD card it has nothing to do with RAM.I tried it already and it created my data.img on first boot just like SD builds and the rom itself was stored in NAND. At least that's what i thought was going on when i tried it.
Anyway, he did it and told us this morning. He seemed rather happy about it....

No, as far as I understand...
This helps more on the update of various system parts... but NANDram with data.img support will be GREAT.
I am more concerned with polishing various bugs and issues ( real WiFi and BT MAC address, low call volume, various freezes), because very often we see builds which implement flashy ideas and tweaks, with known bugs staying like forever... I cannot help, unfortunately...

I don't think we will get any speed increase on Ram builds run from NAND compared to RAM builds ran from SD card. They will both function exactly the same... the whole OS is loaded to RAM. The only difference will be where the OS is stored. It will be good to have some RAM builds for people using NAND, just don't expect to see any speed difference from the SD RAM builds.

My simple wishlist is:
-app2sd

But believe it or not I am yet to stumble upon one. In fact I used OpenEclair for a while and I loved it but RAM hack meant no games and no video so had to revert back to Cyanogen's.

well so far iv had mine for a month with a lot of flashing and repartitioning and i havent had a problem yet
you can always grab a new one for around 20$ http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-mic...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1268266465&sr=8-1
sacrificing 20$ for a great rom is more than reasonable in my opinion.

why do you need a2sd with a magic? if your worried about thrashing your sd with swap why aren't you bothered about running apps from the sd?
try an openeclair rom
just use a 64mb swap and thats it..no apps2sd
or if u want try open eclair with no swap or apps2sd
Thanks guys for your inputs. "kings droid Eris2g1" looks compelling. Gonna try this weekend .
That when a stable android build is out for the HD2, it will be able ot run on the internal memory with NO windows mobile at all, and not kill the battery? i just wnat to make sure that i will not have to run the build of my sd card for ever.
i just would like all your opinions, cause i don't know weather to be patient and keep my hd2 or get something else...Just wondering what all your thoughts are..and when would you think a stable working full port would be?
thanks gang. Love this forum

Really? that is what i feared...
what (IYHO) would be a "while"?
I wouldnt like to even guess at how long because my knowledge of the whole android thing is very small, its not really something that interests me to be honest......
From what Ive been reading the newer builds are coming on in leaps and bounds but at the end of the day the HD2 is built to be a WM device, android will never run as efficiently and as stable as it would on an android handset....
Of course its going be fun to play around with but I dont think it will ever be able to replace the original os........
It sounds like you'd probably be better off with a desire / evo.........

i wonder how "usable" it will be, and will there ever be a rom that works on the internal memory and not the memory card?

I should think it would be stable and you may well be able to flash it to the internal ROM, or at least have a dual boot option. Personally I have no interest in running Android on my HD2, despite tinkering with it already.
I have my eye on the 'Desire HD'.

I have never tried Android, but I do like WM 6.5.x a lot, but it's well on the way out now. I'll be gunning for an Android phone next I think, and the 'Desire HD' looks like it will fit the bill nicely.
When I was considering the HD2 or the Android, the main reason I chose the HD2 was because of WM6.5. Despite all the bad impression, WM is still fairly stable for me. Furthermore, you can only install apps onto Device Memory using Android. How many programs do you think you can get onto the Device Memory?
I have an 8gb card (standard issue) and I have no qualms installing a program and playing with it for a while, and don't need to worry about memory becoming too low...

Great, hopefully also help with the PPP issue
Big news for HD lovers as me and greats chance for our dear developers ... thanks to all developers for continuos support ...
Camera ?
NAND ?
That is a good news.
Now waiting.
Theoretically it should be not much more than finding the references to the HD camera sensor (S5K3H1GX) and make sure that the HD2 sensor (s5k3e2fx) is referenced there. The source for the HD2 sensor is available in the published kernel source. Now we only need a cook to do it.
first want to see that they have published whole kernel and not everything except the camera ( i know they are watching us ) and ofcourse they dont like it if we finish the build .
waiting patiently for the devs and hope they fix it soon

ok, a noob question, but with this release can developers now make a ROM that can replace windows mobile on the device memory or does this just fix minor glitches like the camera? if this relese does NOT do this wht will it take for us to have a rom that no longer has to be used from the memory card? thanks in advance.

No, this will not enable the NAND procedure. Actually, what gain do you expect from that except faster booting? The current SD version is a bit slower on startup but changing and upgrading is a breeze compared to NAND and you can have multiple versions installed and even the option to boot WM if you really feel the urge. With a fast SD card I doubt that Android will run much faster in flash mem.
So if you really prefer Android in firmware you will have to wait until the chefs are ready cooking this version (which probably should happen in the next month or so)

I do not fully understand what is the difference between NAND and SD boot. Is it really the case that after the boot system is sitting in the NAND... or maybe simpler Yes/No question:
After the NAND boot system is in THE SAME STATE as after the SD boot. The ONLY difference is that I have Android folder on SD card? (YES/NO)
Is there a way to use ext2/ext3 sd partition as data because most nand roms doesn't leave us mush room for new apps. Does anyone know?

I have found some information in this site:

but i don't know if it can be applied to hd2 android nand.
EDIT..................
really?
take a joke man.
maybe its silly american humor or sarcasm.
no need for name calling.
plus you're using some american pricks build
Can we just stick to the topic please...
Of course this is less of a problem for those with 1024 devices but will be a huge one for those with 512MB.
I use a HTC Desire (which has 'similar' memory specs to the HD2) and trust me a proper implementation of A2SD is/will be required.
From IRC logs:
Curious_ MN_ app2sd works fine
Curious_ i moved app2sd app to sd card
MN_ which rom?
Curious_ cotulla's
Curious_ worked out of box
Maybe this person is asking why some apps don't move to sd , I can move only some small apps to sd for ex I have NFS SHIFT witch I can;t move to sd To bad I hove somebody finds a way moving this sort of apps to sd.
apps you moved via app2sd are still leaving data.. not much but enough for being a problem for hd2 512mb users like me...
A2SD+ would be a perfect solution. mounting another partition to extend the intern ram..

First of all, both of those are Sense 3/3.5 builds. Others have differing opinions, but I personally find them to be extremely laggy, so I use CM7 ROMs instead. It's a shame because I really like the Sense UI, but can't do much about it. Some things which will improve your user experience are:
1. Overclock using SetCPU, will make the ROM smoother
2. Use a task killer. Again, there are largely varying opinions on this but I always, without fail, find that my ROM runs smoother with 200mb free RAM than with 100mb.
3. Change your ROM. This is probably the best thing you can do, CM7 ROMs (e.g. Hyperdroid, Typhoon, Dorimanx etc.) and MIUI ROMs are much faster than Sense 3.0/3.5 ROMs. However, the fastest ROMs in my opinion are actually the Android 2.2 Sense 2.0 ROMs. Unbelievably fast and smooth with the Sense experience

Hmm, people actually recommend a class 2 SD card for this sort of stuff I think. Not sure whether or not this is only for SD Android, but this thread shows that most people find that a Class 2 SD is more than fast enough. On the last page, one post says that the transfer from a class 2 to a class 10 made no difference.

If your considering changing to cLK their is a newer one that is better than MAGLDR. I personally believe cLK for Android has been better the entire time but the new 1.5 version certainly is. My guide is written for cLk 1.4 which if your not sure what your doing that is better for now. But cLk 1.5 supports repartitioning without a computer and comes with recovery built in. None the less, I really did not mean to link to that guide the first time. I just copy and pasted the wrong thing accidently.
