Hello everyone, I'm in need of guidance as to how to repair the charge slot in the T-Mobile MDA phone. I have no idea what has gone on, but the charge slot (bottom of the phone, slot for phone charger connector to charge) has came loose, to the point I can rotate it if I use a small clip. I cannot manage to properly connect the phone to the charger now, and it seems close to sliding out. Help?
Edit: The "slot" is a mini usb port slot.
Hi, Infinty M. My similar unit seems to be dead too but let me try to help you with your problem.
I have no experience yet in repairing a MDA but the mini USB port of a friend's Xda mini I did get to repair before. His problem was very much like yours - the soldering got loose already after serious usage. What I did was to replace instead the said problem with a new one as the old one already had some rust outside.
Thanks, I contacted a repair shop on the issue, and received a price estimate of 55-65 dollars to repair. Is this a price fair enough?

Somewhat steep for a 10 minute solder job on a four year old phone.....if you went to a local high school around your area of residence you might be able to have one of the technical/electrical teachers fix it....or maybe a technical college.....just an idea...
OK, so I think I'm boned... I picked up my Xoom in a hurry today while the USB cord was attached and yanked it out with extreme force (totally forgot I was debugging, )
It's a Verizon 3g, purchased about 6 weeks ago and no warranty (I THOUGHT I'd be more careful, ug).
It looks like the right corner of the usb plug is broken/chipped. I get no response plugging it in now.
I could probably deal without having USB other than I've been coding on it and using ADB on it is extremely handy. I never got around to rooting it, so I can do that either (nor it seems can I enable wireless ADB without SU, damn damn damn).
It looks like Moto has a default 369$ flat fee for out-of-warranty repair which is INSANE. I could probably by the whole board for that much!
Any idea? Anyone?
I'd consider replacing the USB plug myself if there is a decent "how to" or at least how to crack this thing open and where do I get the parts, etc.
Or what's the odds of Verizon replacing it as a "defect"? What would happen if it broke using the Moto Dock? I really hate this micro usb, just to f-n small. (I wanted to get a dock for this reason but of course, no usb out!)
Sorry for the ramble, I'm just beside myself right now. ANY help/suggestions is appreciated...
Not sure if this is possible but could you maybe purchase some sort of after sale warranty or insurance and claim on that?

I have been unable to turn on or charge my samsung epic 4G SPH-D700. Here is the facts. It is a sprint pcs phone, and I used it on the sprint network with no modifications to it or custom software. I have been using an Seido 3300 mAh battery for about a month.
Found out that I can charge it if I can manage to get the USB port in the right position, it is loose and probably needs to be replaced because the solder points broke. I was able to find the replacement USB jack.
I cannot post links right now, but the part can be found at globaldirectparts
My question is how am I going to solder those small contacts. I have a solder iron and have soldered dc jacks on to laptop motherboards so I have some experience, but these contacts are just so small, anybody have experience / recommendations for soldering the new jack on?
I like to use a jewelers loupe when soldering very small components and of course you will need an extremely fine tip.

still under warranty? may not even cost to replace for a faulty usb.
I bought the phone used and I am currently with virgin mobile. You are right, I could just signup for sprint service with insurance, and make a claim after a few days, but it's something I know I can fix and plus I want to unlock it and use it for boost mobile.
It might still be under warranty? I'll have to see how to make an ram for that.
I can see the contacts very well with my glasses, I mainly need to stabilize it for the de soldering braid.
I can confirm the binary reset via a jig and sgs2 bootloader works fine on note,
First i flashed KL8, Flashed FM Kernel which increased my counter to 2,
I then reflashed stock kernel which left me with rooted stock KL8.
I then followed the routine, flaashed the sgs2 bootloader followed by Note bootloader, and i now have rooted KL8 with no custom binary count and no yellow triangle.
Not a method for the faint of heart as you will be working with a completely black screen, and its guess work as to wether youve got into bootloader mode ok.
BUT IT WORKED A TREAT YAYYY, lierally i only did it just to experiment, at the risk of bricking my note, so anyone brave enough, thats the routine.
But i bet in the next 24hours there will be a cfroot for kl8 anyway lmao. All you devs out there, is anyone working on an alternate method for counter reset, coz the method i followed is rather tense to say the least lol.
which jig did you use?
hi, i made the jig myself, so im not sure, i think the design was for a galaxy s2
It is basically a micro usb plug with a 300k 1/4 watch resistor soldered to pin 4 and 5, and thats it, i had loads of spare resistors so ive made about 20 of them, im now looking for adequate housings for them and will then sell them for 50pence each plus postage cost, so, about a quid.

if not ill guess ill be buying one from you !
Hi Community,
I tried as hard as I could but at this point I've basically given up.
The Problem:
Phone USB-C Port was damaged while charging overnight (Bad LeEco Cable). Over months with a few shipments from aliexpress I tried to repair it, damaged the screen during the process etc etc...
I changed the USB-Board as well as the damaged battery, sadly it's still broken. If I plug it in nothing happens, no detection or anything, charging works though! I unpluged the data line on the flex cable and the behaviour is absolutely the same. This leads me to the conclusion that the power line is ok but the data flex cable or something on the motherboard is "fu**ed". I also tried an EDL Cable as well as an USB Stick. The USB Stick gets powered but not detected by TWRP which is luckily still installed.
Is there any way to safe this phone or into the trash it goes? Thanks in advance to the community, I've been an avid reader for the past couple years and the solutions always suprise me
tl;dr Charging works, data not so much, any way to get something on this phone?
BTW: I don't want to buy a Jtag Box or something else that is 1 time use and 20$+
Thanks so much in advance!
Hi
Never give up, always there are solutions just you need to find it!
And yeah, you're right the cheap quality original leeco cable made this big problem as You say.
We already talked about this problem, because my phone's port was burned as well, but I could repair it, with an original USB flex board.. So now my phone stayed alive and he is just like the original one
I think won't be good the cheap fake Usb boards from aliexpress.. etc.
You need only the factory version!
Please check these topics, I have written there the solutions!

Thank you very much! I hope there really is a difference between the boards you can get from aliexpress and the one you get from taobao. Gonna order tomorrow and then wait :highfive::good:
Would be pure bliss if I can get this phone to work again.
Edit: Could you post the Taobao Link? You listed what to do, but not which products to buy, would reduce the risk to buy bad stuff again, thanks in advance

Your issue could be the motherboard.
Absolutely those factory cables are garbage, we had two Leeco destroyed by bad cables in my house. Fortunately, they were under Amazon's warranty and they were replaced with new phones.
Currently I also have a critical issue also, where my phone will start in fastboot, but will shut down when attempting to boot to the system or recovery.
To make matters worse, I could only find used motherboards priced on the average of $150 which is way too high when you can find a complete X720 on Aliexpress for about the same price :
As far as getting your data, can you boot to fastboot, if so you may be able to copy the data from the phone and then erase storage using adb. For example, adb pull <path-of-the-file> or : adb pull sdcard/ ( this should work)
As far as the issue about you phone, something that you flashed may have damaged the board. Last week several people had damage as the result of flashing a Rom that didn't have thermals ( it was an accident / Oversight)
Another option, if you are like me and cash is tight. Xiaomi has several quality phones for around $200 and the specs are excellent. Phones such as the A2, Note 6 Pro, or check this out ( Then google Snapdragon 636 vs 821 )
I hope something here helps you.

Hi
Sorry for the late answer, but I was very busy in this week!
.
So You can buy the original board from Taobao but only through Yoybuy. You can buy lots of factory parts for the phone or any other gadgets as well of course. Just you have to use the taobao's item link.
Here you can find what I I bought. This is 100% original board!
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=563268285618
It was only 14$+ 7$ was the yoybuy service fee. The shipping cost depends of the shipping version.
The whole shipping after my payment was about 2 weeks to hungary!
Good luck!

Hi
Yes of course it is quite simple, just you have to write it on TAOBAO 'X720 mother board' to the search bar.
I found a seller, he is selling more version of boards.. Just use this link at the Yoybuy and you can choose the right version at that site.. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.1.2f6347c1TLsAv7&id=572435958176&ns=1&abbucket=20#detail

While what this website is selling is hard to determine for an English speaker. What they are selling is board repair at a super low price. Frankly, I don't understand how they make money.
But here is an option for you. I too have an old phone with a fried board, so I will research this place further and probably will mail my board to them for repair.
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?sp...GLVYx&scm=1007.13066.127260.0&id=559560190173
By the way, you have to create a account to view pricing and there is an option to change the site to whatever language you prefer. Basically with the cost of transport included it seems that we can have our motherboards repaired for under $20.

I have no idea, as I am not there with you and I don't know what steps you took to ground yourself prior to changing out the board, if you were sent the wrong board then you should contact TaoBao for a refund. They have a return policy similar to other large online vendors.
Is it possible, that you received the wrong board, or that you shorted out the board by accident? If it didn't look identical to the board that you replaced then it obviously would not be compatible. If the board was in fact a correct working board, your issue could be something else such as the usb card, the connection to the usb port, or shorted flex cables. ( I assume that you tried alternate usb cables?
To be clear the link I provided was intended for on site repair, not the sale of a motherboard for sale. (repairing the board that you already own)
For example, If you have broken solder connections, you would pay a small deposit and ship the the phone to the advertised repair shop, for them to repair, by fully reballing the board.
There have been users that were able to get their phones back in working order for under $40
Finally if you are hearing a buzzing noise then you have a burned capacitor which should be an easy and cheap fix for a shop that has the tools and can repair at the component level.
Edit
The price of these phones have recently dramatically dropped Here you can find a new 4GB/64GB X720 for $140
You can replace the usb board yourself. Hardest part is removing the screen. You need a heat gun for that. And double sided 3m tape to reattach.
The actual board only costs $5.
Amazing that a 400 phone will be rendered useless by a $5 part.
Hey guys it's me again, I didn't know what to do and the phone was just flying around collecting dust. But I found a seller that apparently stocks original USB Boards. The ones you could get so far were missing components that are required for OTG etc.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/USB...833.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.71874c4dOUgL1P
It's 13$ but well, better than a wrecked phone. Now I can also solder quite well, sad I threw away my original board otherwise I could have transplanted the missing IC circuitry. This wasn't a problem I thought that would happen. "Missing" components on a board never happend to me and "a**hat" move to sell boards without saying that it's only good for charging...
This is the part I bought off eBay.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/192576662284
The only soldering necessary was that it didn't come with the speaker so had to remove it from the old bad board and solder it to the new one.
Phone has been back to functional since. I had to replace battery as well because I think the heat gun damaged it. That was about $17

Is OTG working since the compontens of the product you send are also missing on the photo.
Did you want me to attach an otg adapter to my phone to see if it could access the storage?
Or did you want me to connect my phone to a computer via usb-c cable to see if it could be accessed by the computer?
FYI, here's pictures of the old board from my x727 for reference

Here's my comparison between an old Aliexpress board I ordered and the new one with all the necessary IC components on it. Quite the difference...
How much was the new board? Not knowing really if it would work or not, I just ordered the cheaper 5$ board.
