I can confirm the binary reset via a jig and sgs2 bootloader works fine on note,
First i flashed KL8, Flashed FM Kernel which increased my counter to 2,
I then reflashed stock kernel which left me with rooted stock KL8.
I then followed the routine, flaashed the sgs2 bootloader followed by Note bootloader, and i now have rooted KL8 with no custom binary count and no yellow triangle.
Not a method for the faint of heart as you will be working with a completely black screen, and its guess work as to wether youve got into bootloader mode ok.
BUT IT WORKED A TREAT YAYYY, lierally i only did it just to experiment, at the risk of bricking my note, so anyone brave enough, thats the routine.
But i bet in the next 24hours there will be a cfroot for kl8 anyway lmao. All you devs out there, is anyone working on an alternate method for counter reset, coz the method i followed is rather tense to say the least lol.
which jig did you use?
hi, i made the jig myself, so im not sure, i think the design was for a galaxy s2
It is basically a micro usb plug with a 300k 1/4 watch resistor soldered to pin 4 and 5, and thats it, i had loads of spare resistors so ive made about 20 of them, im now looking for adequate housings for them and will then sell them for 50pence each plus postage cost, so, about a quid.

Hello Guys
I am a very very happy owner of this amazing device, the allmighty HD2. As one of the early adopters I really know the true value of this beast, ahem, baby
Recently i've decided to sell this device as I need the cash for upgrading to a samsung nexus. I thought I would have enough cash to upgrade without sacrificing this device (i even had plans for putting it in a glass showcase and keep it in my living room ) bcoz i've taken care of it as if it was a part of me
It really looks like new after 2something years...
Anyways, I thought that I wanted to give you guys a shot before i put it on ebay, if someone is interested to buy this phone because i believe that only people in this community can really appreciate this device and its specs, history and future.
I intend to put it on ebay after xmas if nobody is interested here but because i have love thing for this device i would prefer to know it falls into good hands and not some kiddo that cant afford an idevice
The screen is new without a single mark, spotless and i have a ton of accessories to give to its new owner...
I will provide tons of pics later on if there is some interest about this.
If you got any questions just shoot!
How much are you planning in selling it for
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium
Hi!
I'm interested! My own was recently lost/stolen and I think no other device will be good enough for me
I can asure your beloved HD2 will be in good hands Can you show some pics? How much will it cost including shipping costs? (I'm from Portugal)
Thanks!
I hope your talking about a galaxy nexus... lol just saying and I think there's a section here for this kind of thing
Hi guys, thanks for the interest.
The phone in ebay ranges from £100ish up to £200+ for perfect condition.
Mine comes with accessories though. 2 extra batteries, one genuine htc and another extended battery plus the one that's on the phone
Desk dock for the phone that charges a second battery, 3 silicone gel cases in various colours, a wall charger for the spare battery, it also has a vinyl skin applied to it. Plus its box and accessories that came with it the only thing I've lost is its original pouch.
I think for all the above a price of €200 / £165 is a fair price.
I will post pics of everything as soon as I get home coz I'm at work now...
One requirement only : the transaction will happen through ebay and paypal so we can both have a peace of mind. Upon agreement here, I will post it on ebay with a ridiculous price and then you can make an offer which I will accept of course
Also will post fully recorded / insured around Europe for €10
Sent from my HD2 using Tapatalk
So, we're talking about 210€ including shipping costs, right? Won't you make it 200€? Or maybe could you sell it without accessories for a lower price? The one thing that I would really appreciate is the pouch, because that's the only thing that was lost/stolen with my HD2... Either way, if the device is in good condition I'm interested, please tell me what you are willing to do and show some pics!
Also: I'm supposing we're talking about an european device (given that you have a flag from Greece).
Oh, another thing I remembered: does it come with an SD card?

Its the European Edition bought originally from UK. Bought it sim-free so it was completely unlocked and unbranded (not that it matters now in android world, just saying )
I will provide an 8gig class 4 microsd which is already in the device and if i remember it right, there should be another one 2gig which came with the phone, which should still be in its box, but i will let you know for sure later tonight with the pics.
I will gather all accessories and make some pics tonight from home, its my lunch break now so not enough time for this
sorry for the late update, its a really busy period at work these days...
i managed to get some pics of the accessories which you can find in this picasa album here: htc hd2
please note that the desk dock supports 2nd battery charging and it also has a 3.5mm plug so you can use the phone for playing back music in a pair of desk speakers with 3.5mm input, for example pc speakers. i didnt like that so i opened the dock (just 4 ordinary screws) and pulled this 3.5mm inwards in the casing. of course if you like it its very easy to pull it back out again. The headphones which can be seen in their case there have been opened and used twice, because i have another pair from my desire that i use daily and at some point i thought i lost it, opened this one, two days later found the desire one and its been in its case since then. whoever gets he phone will confirm this, the headphones do look unused.
pics of the actual device will be uploaded first thing in the morning in the same folder (with the same link) and i will update my post here as well
As promised, multiple pics of the device can now be found on the same picasa folder i linked above...
same link here if you are too lazy to look above Da Album Link

Trust me i know what this phone is capable of... believe me its a very hard decision to sell it. If i had enough money i would never sell it
even if development dies in a couple of years still its one of the most historic devices ever created, if not THE most historic...
Allright, the device seems to be in good condition. Just 2 questions:
- It's got a screen protector applied to it, right? Is it easy to remove? Not that I don't recognize that it's important, but I might not like to see it live
- The skin in the background: is it easy to remove (leaving no bits or glue)? Once again, I might not like to see it live like that
Also tell me your thoughts about selling the device by itself only.
The screen protector is very easy to remove, i have changed many protectors and same quality as this one (the phone has never been without screen protector).
The vinyl in the back should be removed without leaving residues of any kind. Its the first i have applied and i havent removed one yet to know for sure, but its advertised as "easily removed without leaving any glue residues". Its made by Gelaskins.
Finally i dont want to sell the phone by itself as the rest of accessories have no use for me afterwards and i selling them by themselves one by one have no real value in ebay...
so its sold with everything pictured
Ok, I think everything's clear and fine concerning the device. Concerning the rest, that's what I was thinking, but it didn't harm to ask
So, what's next?
Goodmorning and Merry Xmas
I believe that the safest way for both of us, is ebay, especially for you with the buyer protection act. So i will post it there with a ridiculus price of buy it now something like £500 and i will leave the "make offer" option open. I will PM you the link of my listing and you can go there and make me an offer of 200€ which of course i will accept
I will backup my stuff and take it out of the device as i'm still using it, factory reset it and pack it so it will be ready for the post office as soon as the ebay transaction is cleared.
PS: right now I'm with Hyperdroid's CM7 rom with dorimatrix kernel do you need another rom flashed or should i just reset to factory defaults and leave the rest to you?
Good morning, Merry Christmas!!!
OK, I'll be checking my inbox for the link. As for the ROM, you can leave it like that, I like to flash and try new ROMs anyways
i have been leaving some Q's and A's about my bricked phone, first about if a samsung usb would get me out of the brick, that came and to no avail. Then i was asking about the jtag route.. well low and behold i still have a bricked phone with a dead cpu..jtag was a no go.. so it looks like a s3 for me.. is there any point trying to sell my note as faulty on ebay or gumtree.. or just keep it as a paperweight?

Who will buy a dead phone? Try taking it to a Samsung service center & try ur luck..just say that u were updating through Kies & not switching on after that.. dont give them a clue that u know rooting, flashing etc etc..
If the above said way did not work, try repairing it at minimum cost & then sell it through ebay or anything..
if your phone is completely dead, there is a chance they might not even be able to read the flash counter
in that case they should replace it under warranty
the brick bug was present in stock ICS, and could possibly brick the phone if one were to simply try to factory reset on the stock kernel.
so just tell them that happened.
even if you have to pay out of pocket for a MOBO replacement, it's 200 bucks compared to 600 for a GSIII (and a waste of an otherwise good galaxy note).
if you MOBO replaced and then sold the phone for $300 dollars you would still profit.
did you buy the phone outside it's intended country of sale and that's why it's out of warranty? you could try to contact the merchant and see if they would honor the warranty. (as in do the process for you). believe it or not, some merchants have done this in the past.
Slap it in the microwave for a couple of seconds. This will fry the electronic components inside so Samsung won't be able to read anything from it and issue you with a brand new replacement under warranty.
Guys i had an accident... the phone fell of the bike (my fault .. i havent pressed the phone well in the dock) in a highway in athens with 120klm and till i reach it, it was runover by a truck... :crying: and the result is in the pics bellow....
I dissasemble it and i saw that main MB seemed ok.. also camera and all inner plackets seemed ok. I thought in start to buy a replacement sasi/screen but i really im not sure if the MB is working so that scenario is too risky. I decided to buy a new one and try the old MB in the new (my old MB has MJ1 bootloader which is rooted and knox free with URDLV and also all my personall data which i dont trust to be seeing in any service center) and if the phone work then i will w8 some time for the screen to get cheaper and rebuild a 2nd one for my wife ....
Guys carefull with your phones..
Joke: i will send email to spigen saying to them that Glass TR slim is not so hard as they say
Looks like your phone's frosted over... put it under some heating ?

Wow that is most unlucky! The phone is so expensive so it makes me want to get some really good protection.
thank you for sharing. a slightly extreme example (the truck bit probably sounding like the screen wouldn't be helped).
given the mishap it sounds pretty sturdy especially if it powers on with the new screen
interesting that you'd be willing to pull apart the new note 3 since it'd probably void the wty. (isn't at least one of the screws inside sealed ?)
>and also all my personall data which i dont trust to be seeing in any service center
encrypt + sd encrypt+ backup and encrypt the backup . unfortunately samsung doesn't make it easy (root + encrypt doesn't seem to work )

the solution in one of the threads means using kingo as well :\ and won't work on all the models.
i wonder how brittle the front is in general. it seems like the gorilla glass cover is $30 new . but maybe those are all plastic . (and how likely is the screen itself to crack not the inner AMOLED LCD that'll cost $300 )

There is no such thing like insurance in phones here only if you buy it from carrier but their prices here are crazy... 800€ for the phone plus extra money for the insurance....
Imagine that i buy a new one in the evening with 565€ and i gain the Vat which is 23% so end price is 435€.

Ok i got the new one... i placed the MB of the old one but is dead....
1 only good thing is that the new has mj1 bootloader and i can root knox free...
I purchased the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 III N900 32gb Black Factory Unlocked Android Cell Phone from Amazon. The store was SHOPEBEST. (cant post links yet)
Got it, had the IMEI tag removed from the box for some reason dunno why.
Everything looks brand spanking new, got a new sim from AT&T, setup install some apps then I try to run update got the device is modified message. Wiped cache partition, restarted numerous times, never had an SD card in but i did try to put an old one in and remove it etc.
Still shows up as CUSTOM.
In odin download mode it shows:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N900
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
WARRANTY BIT: 1
I'm new to android so i have very little knowledge about android systems, rooting or roms or anything only the stuff i learned from hours of reading.
My question is if this phone is new WHY is it showing custom and the warranty showing 1 meaning void right out of the box? Is there anyway i can go back to stock and get the warranty back to 0?
Thanks for your time and help.
I would hazard an opinion the phone is not brand new or wasn't factory unlocked? I thought I saw something about some shop opening brand new phones, unlocking them and selling as factory unlocked. I guess they tripped flag unlocking it? Strange there was no IMEI on the box, maybe the phone IMEI and box didn't match?

I didn't even notice at first but the sticker is /was removed from the box. Had the caution sealed package sticker on it though. I contacted them already. There's no way this phone is brand new with the odin mode showing that.
I would return it, just for warranty sake. Also I don't think you can do OTA updates if it's custom. And if it's rooted already, it could have virus or some other stuff on it as well.
Sorry to hear that you got scammed. Though there is no way to reset the warrannty bit counter back to Ero. But you may check if you had a Super SU app in your app drawee. If it there that means your phone is rooted. So yoi can try Triangle away app it might help im not sure if it works then reflash a stock rom and do a fulk factory reset and wipe the cash partition.

Don't bother with Triangle-Away. It won't reset Knox back to 0x0.
Knox seems tripped.
You def need to return this.
If it's this obvious that it wasn't unlocked by the manufacturer but instead has been modified by the reseller you might also want to shoot Amazon an email at the reports form hereabouts: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/reports/contact-us
Sometimes it helps to be specific... I find that just returning the item solves my own problem but then leaves the seller free to cause problems for others. And Amazon has from my own experience been really awesome and helpful with this stuff. I reported a seller who sold me a red-screened Kindle Fire 2 and I actually got to speak to a human being. In general I find they have some of the best support imaginable.

Yeah I'm returning it first thing Monday. I find it funny how the seller didn't want any problems. They told me to just return the phone for a full refund even though i used it for 3 days. They charge a restock fee for returns but i told them im not paying any restocking fee and they still said return it. They know what they did.

Oh you bet I'm telling amazon. These guys wasted a lot of my time with this now. I now have to wipe it, return it, go back to ATT get another sim and put my old phone back on my plan and buy another phone. So it is my duty to to warn amazon about this shady seller so other people don't fall victim to what happened to me.
Bright side to all this. I think the note is way 2 big for me so I'm thinking about trying out the nexus 5, cheaper smaller and everyone says its awesome. So thanks to this shady seller i got to test it out for a few days.

You'll find this amusing but I still prefer my old Galaxy Nexus over the Nexus 5. It may not have ran 4.4.2 perfectly but man... User-replaceable battery, amazing kernel mods, none of the weird bugs I encountered with the Nexus 5, rock solid GPS, and it took SD Cards.
I liked the Nexus 4 just fine, but man the 5 really burnt me on the Nexus line. I had a lot of problems with it. So did my coworker with his. Ended up returning both.

the sold you a repaired phone..... seems like the LCD broke and they bought a LCD from ebay and swap the board.......
the FULL LCD from ebay does not include IMEI sticker....... and some times its difficult to remove the original sticker....
I know this because I Note 3 fell and the screen broke... I bought a Black complete Note 3 without the logic board and I was good again...
My Phone was originally white....... I was able to transfer the IMEI sticker though....

Best thing I could tell you, since asking what's the best phone is like asking what's the best ROM, is go to your local carrier stores like ATT and T-Mobile, Sprint, etc... And just try out phones in your hand. Don't worry too much about specs these days. If it's running at least Android 4.2 with a 1Ghz processor it will make calls, end texts, and play cat videos. Even without, it should still.
If you want the absolute most epic and powerful phone you're already holding it as far as I know. The Note 3 not only has premiere specs but USB 3, support for something ridiculous like another 64 gigs or 128 gigs of CLASS 10 MicroSD goodness...And a stylus, which is something I've genuinely missed ever since the old WinMo 6.5 days when you could either choose the multitouch mod or the overclock mod but not both.
Really though, your best is just go to stores and see what feels best especially since you seem to be the kind of person for whom the feel of the phone in your hand and how it carries is important. You can always then walk out of the store, go on someplace like Swappa, and find the phone at a cheaper price and probably unlocked.
Hi everybody, i need help about replace the motherboard of my galaxy note 4. I will do it because i think that the eMMC of my device is completely messed, i've tried everything in modding but nothing help, the device it's barely usable, it keep rebooting and it lag, only if i use the app to keep the cpu awake it's usable. Plus it doesn't read the sim card anymore. All started when one day, totaly random, it do a factory reset by itself and i lost EVERYTHING in the phone. So i see that on aliexpress they sell motherboard for my n910f, if i buy and replace the one i have now, it should all work without any problem? thanks for any advice
ps: sorry for my bad english, i'm italian

I can confirm that once you get the eMMC read failure messages there isn't any coming back from it unless you either A) Replace the eMMC itself or B) Replace the Motherboard. Since trying to micro-solder an eMMC chip would be way to difficult for most people out there (myself included, I cant solder for s***) the motherboard replacement would be the way to go.
I did try all the "fixes" here on XDA I could find, but none worked. Flashing the full recovery software in Odin took AGES (15 + minutes, it never took me that long, plus then 20 minutes to even boot)
Finding the part is one thing, installing it is another. I have never tried replacing a phone motherboard but my main concern would be if the board is unlocked, or atleast knowing the carrier it was locked to in order to get a valid unlock code somewhere online.
I was told by a few repair shops locally that its totally possible to replace the motherboard but there was a risk the screen would also break (So a replacement may be needed there as well). Honestly it might have been that they just didn't have very good luck with taking these Note 4's apart without damage or they just were inexperienced. But in the end for me when my first Note 4 hit the eMMC error, I sold it for parts (sPen, Screen, battery ect) and bought another Note 4 second hand
Theres a ton a speculation about this chip issue, be it heat killing them, consistant flashing or just a bad batch of chips used and now failing over time.

thanks for the reply! ok so, i must have to buy the motherboard. I've find one interesting on aliexpress, 55$ and full unlocked (at least they said that), replace it isn't very hard cause you don't have to take the screen off, just the rear parts of the phone (i've already did it when i change the headphone jack), so Tomorrow i order it and when it arrive i will tell you if it works i hope so at least

Best of luck with it and hopefully the swap goes well. I probably could have tried finding parts but the 910W8 model is different I guess.
I have replaced a mainboard with one from aliexpress, which generally worked fine, but for done reason my gps didn't work. Not sure if that was a problem with the board or just some connector not during properly?
Regarding the emmc error, I've actually managed to revive the old board after it had been sorry of bricked by the previous owner in a failed flashing attempt by putting it in the fridge while flashing the firmware with Odin (on xda someone suggested this, they actually say to put it in the freezer for a while, but I don't have a freezer and putting it in the fridge and taking it out for flashing want enough). It still has the error, but seemed to run relatively ok with a wakelock app preventing the CPU from falling asleep.
Though I get your idea, it feels safer to have a fully working mainboard.
The only problem buying a motherboard is from other sources other than Samsung you not sure if the MBA are brand new. I would say go to Samsung and pay for a new MBA and they will write your original serial number and IMEI to the new MB and you get a warranty..
Just replaced a mainboard...
Bought more than a year ago a faulty Note 4 thinking it was one with a faulty screen as the blue LED and vibrator would come on while pushing the start button and the phone was recognized by my PC. Turned out to be a faulty MB and while trying to replace the MB I damaged the screen.
So I ended putting all on the shelf. Meanwhile bought a note4 for my wife and figured that the spare MB could serve her phone in case it would go bad...Then recently stumbled upon a faulty note 4 where the owner claimed it was one with a faulty MB. The asking price was ok so I ended up buying it and fitting the spare MB. I was lucky in a way that the previous owner already swapped the display so it came apart very easy. I did put all in place using the OEM tape ordered specially for the Note 4. It is a fact that this MB is manufactured in Feb 2015 so it could be well that in the near future it fails although when checking the chip with the app it tells me I have a sane ship...

You should search for videos on replacing the MB in the Note 4; it seems to be fairly involved and you run the risk of causing additional damage to your phone.
Samsung in the US is replacing MBs for about $50 to $150. I got mine replaced (plus a bunch of other repairs) for $70 (which is about the same cost of a MB through AliExpress). Samsung paid the postage for me send my phone to Samsung Service in Plano, TX, they then diagnosed the problems and said they would fix it for $70 or they would return the phone without repairing it at no charge. My phone was over two years old and out of warranty. I had them repair the phone and it was returned in like new condition and it is still working great. The entire process took about 10 days.
You may want to contact Samsung Customer Service directly (in the US call 1-800-SAMSUNG) and see if they are willing to look at your phone and hopefully make any needed repairs.

Thanks for the info will try it, my note 4 will not even
finish booting anymore. It is alteady out of warranty hope they don't mind it is rooted.
There are plenty of video's on you tube on how to. Look at them, look at different video's to get as much info as needed. Don't mess around with you screen, just replace the mainboard and you will be ok! Mine still goes very strong, its GPS is working very well even indoors. I owed a few Note 4's and this is the first one where the GPS is usable. Putting both note's side by side...well one GPS gets a fix and the other one.......well is useless! Did the same with a Note 2 where I replaced a faulty mainboard and this thing has the fastest GPS I ever seen. This Note was due to be sold but I have decided to hang on to it a bit longer...
Hi I am Samsung Note 4 user I have a problem since yesterday it is not registering on 4G or Lte Network only 2G is working. I tried lot but could not fix this problem. I changed the setting LTE/WCDMA but still it is not registering. Can and body helps me to resolve this issue. even I format my phone also by the problem could not rectified. I visited Samsung Center they are saying there is problem in motherboard. for replacement it costs 280$ in India which is very huge.

$50 to $150 is a pretty big range considering whatever caused these issues is originally still on Samsung itself for cheaping out. I thought about going the AliExpress route but I've never bought from there before and their site isn't the easiest to navigate...seems every seller with reviews is selling used boards (questionable lifespan?) and the ones with no reviews appear to have brand new ones, but are these brand new with the same old issue, so we're buying boards with borrowed time or is there a chance they're ones that won't have this issue. One could only hope that the new ones via AliExpress AND the ones being installed through Samsung have been revised to not have this issue, but we may never know until it takes a dump in another 3-4 years like the original phones appear to last.
I bought my phone used via Craigslist, so I hope that isn't their justification for additional gouging.
Hi all,
Looks like this guy on YouTube was experiencing the EXACT same issue that we're all experiencing (random restarts, boot loops, bricked phone, etc.) as a result of motherboard. I'm thinking about ordering one of the N910T motherboards off Aliexpress and hope for the best. I can't even restart my phone anymore...and I know my phone batteries are fully charged.
Seems like it works...I'm just nervous about taking it apart!
Regards,
Jeff
HI
i had troubles with my Note 4 lately, blocking and restarting randomly,
baked the motherboard in an oven and it worked great again but only for a 1 whole day then it only shows blue notification light when trying to turn on,
tried the baking today again at a bit higher temperature 200c for 10 min,
and it is completely dead now,
i am looking to buy another 910F board but reading the feedback on aliexpress seems like they are all baked, people are not satisfied, it works for a very short time,
dont know what to do,
can i put some other version like 9100 dual, some other that has better chips(not heating so much) exynos instead snapdragon or something like that?
