I'm on the mailing list for a site -- CareAce.net -- that does articles mainly on Vibrants, and thought this one, on exchanging your phone, might be of interest to those with GPS problems. It says that phones manufactured from October on have a somewhat different hardware directly related to the GPS issue.
Please post back if you decide to try this route.

I've read that people have had many issues such as dust under the screen, phone DOA, etc, while others have had no problems what so ever. I think it would be interesting if we could find a pattern between these problems which appear to be quite common.
If you can, please post where your phone was made in. This information can be found on the sticker on the back of your Nexus One box.
Taiwan...no dust, or any issues with my phone

Same here, Taiwan, no issues at all
taiwan - no dust or issues
HTC is a Taiwanese manufacturer so I would assume all the Nexus One are made in Taiwan.
Taiwan... the lower right corner of my screen wasn't sticking properly when I pulled it out o the box. New one on its way.
Maybe a certain batch/production number on the sticker ?
Was just think the same thing. Perhaps this issue can be isolated to certain serial numbers or something that relates to a certain batch of bad phones.
To be honest the N1 will be my first smartphone. I've been waiting since last year to buy a good modern snapdragon Android phone. Have been so excited after ordering the N1.
Thats until I read about the dust issues. Now I'm dreading opening the box. I'll be on my knees praying!
What even more painful is that my phone was just delivered in the UK today, but I won't actually get it until Monday 24th January. The wait is even more painful.
For those of you that have gone through warranty was the device you got new or was it refurbished? Because I've been having freezing issues, loss of 3G and things like that so I called. T-mobile and the guy said it would be most likely new since the HD2 has been out for only a month and takes awhile to get a device refurbished.

Don't believe anything these bozos tell you. They will contradict the [email protected] out of each other if you talk with more than one of them... this just goes to show you the technical ability of these people. Keep in mind that they don't carry too many Wm for a reason... they cannot support them since they don't have the knowledge to do so.
If they told you that it takes a while to refurbish them because the device has only been out for 1 month, you can go back to them and say "how about you get someone from Europe to help you guys out a bit? They have had the device for a lot longer and still have been unable to solve th issues"
Thanks for the input, i agree with your I asked the guy when a software update will be handed out, he said Microsoft is working on a update and they will hand it out. I was life wtff? But anyone else know? Also how do i reset my phone and back everything up?
I was also told that the HD2 was too new to have refurbished ones sent out. When I received the replacement I was disappointed with the packaging. It looked like it had been handled carelessly. I'll probably keep my original since new sim card installed haven't had any problems. Still have couple more days to decide.
While they may not have any/many phones available that have been "refurbished" (repaired due to some fault), I know they have a ton of phones that were returned but didn't have any issue requiring repair. These are referred to as "NIF" (no issue found) units, and can find their way into the replacement-unit pipeline much quicker than ones that get refurbished.
I suspect that's what whodanu got, and what many others will get. The units get a simple hard-reset and wipe-down essentially, and then certified to ship back out to people who need replacements.
So I am experiencing weird charging problems on my Note N7000 described by many ppl in various places. And this is my correspondence to Samsung and their response. I guess no matter how wonderful things they make - stay away if you travel or can't wait for them to come to your country. Samsung's vision of global village.....
My letter:
Hello!
This e-mail is in regards to 2 (two!) transaction records I had to open already.
Their numbers:
5103380251
3101152244
For starters - neither of them solved my problem. Also - the second one was required only to get this e-mail address after only 35 minutes on hold....
Anyways - I have an INTERNATIONAL version of Galaxy Note (GT-N7000). The phone was manufactured without SIM lock, with INTERNATIONAL in the name, implying that it can be used INTERNATIONALLY. Since it resides in Canada now I called Samsung Canada to get it repaired. (all details should be in the tickets hopefully - in a nutshell the phone is exhibiting very weird behaviour once it is connected to a wall charger, please, call or e-mail me if the details in the ticket(s) are unclear). Through a bit of research I established that this behaviour is not isolated to my unit only as I found multiple posts on various technology related forums about similar anomaly.
By calling your support line I learned some valuable lessons that might dictate my future purchasing decisins:
1. Even though there are thousands of people in Southern Ontario using various models of Samsung mobile products one has to ship the phone to Quebec for anyone even to take a look at the issue.
2. Global company like Samsung does not honour warranties for the products purchased outside of country of residence even though the Internet allows for free exchange of goods even when big telecommunications corporations artificially try to block certain products from different markets for marketing purposes (seems like they have full unconditional backing in doing so from Samsung)
3. I stopped wondering why superior product features lose ground to outdated technologies marketed by Apple - all that matters is customer satisfaction.... My daughters iPhone started "freezing", one quick visit in the Apple store resulted in the instant phone exchange... By the way - the iPhone was purchased in the United States and the exchange occurred in Canada. All that was needed was the serial number to confirm the warranty.
Well - my Note was manufactured in October 2011 so I believe it is not one year since then. I do not understand why I am hitting obstacles trying to get your product fixed just because I purchased it before it was available in my country.
I hope that this communication will open someone's eyes and will help to resolve my issue in acceptable manner as well as will change the overall customers' experience with Samsung.
Please, contact me via e-mail or phone (number in the signature) if you have any questions in that matter. And of course I would like to see some kind of answer if you do not need any additional information.
Regards,
And this is their response:
Hello Tomasz,
We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.
Unfortunately, phones do not have an international warranty, so a service centre in Canada would not be able to perform an in-warranty repair. For warranty support, you would need to contact the original purchase location.
Sincerely,
Samsung Office of the President
if i'm not mistaken normal warranty only valid in the country that you purchased from. international warranty need to be purchase separately
That still sux... Especially that this is a common problem, not one-of.
Hey everyone. Like a lot of people out there, I flocked to the LG G2 when it was released. Instead of waiting for Bell, Telus or Rogers to stock the phone I decided to get ahead of the pack and buy it from an online retailer.
I picked up the phone from a Canadian website called ncix.com . They stocked the international version (D802). I ordered it for $629.99 .
First impressions were good. Its fast, lasts long, and looks beautiful.
Ive been having issues though. It started when the 4.4 update was released. I started having crazy GPS issues. I used to use my GPS all the time in order to find shops around Edmonton.
Now, after the update, I can no longer use navigation or GPS related apps. I can see that this is a widespread issue. Everyone, to one extent or another, experiences this issue on the LG G2.
I tried everything stock related to try and fix it. Tried thick paper under the GPS contacts, tried pulling them up, no use. Tried using status apps to download agps data, still nothing.
So heres the issue: I called LG support about my problem. I told them where I bought it and they tell me it's out of their hands because I didn't buy it from an authorized LG dealer.
My number one question is, if you know your product has an issue, why prevent someone from receiving warranty for a manufacturer issue?
An even bigger question is: why release a phone that you KNOW has an issue?
Does anyone else support my questions?
This is my last LG product now that I know they release unfinished electronics. Also to know that they do not acknowledge that they screwed up and don't support broken products.
Hey, I'm in a similar boat as you, bought second hand and warranty is apparently non transferrable despite being less than a year old.
Anyway, I really do feel this is a software/firmware issue. I posted in one of the other threads but I'll ask you the same....when I use the Munzee (location based game)app and set GPS to always on my GPS notification icon doesn't go grey like it does with google maps and I don't seem to lose signal. I'm just trying to find someone to test my theory because it would confirm (?) that the problem lies in the GPS putting itself to sleep.

Yes gps is suc** in g2 and i am lazy to get the phone to lg dealer because it will take at least 10 days without phone+its rooted and have custom rom and recovery so i need to get back to stock and wipe all data and then take it to them /:

Well, i got a D806, D802 variant, wich is pretty much the same.
So far i didnt step much in stock 4.4 android, i simply updated my D806 to 4.4 to grab cloudyG3 rom and so far no GPS issues. As far as you havent got warranty, have you thought of going into custom ROMS/Kernels?

My advice is it should be your last smartphone or at least last Android smartphone.
What makes you think phones from Sammy, HTC, Sony, ... don't have GPS issue?
Second note: I'm on stock with 4.4.2 and have no issue with GPS.
Third note: are you running the latest firmware? would you do factory reset and see if it gets any better? or you can find a way to reverse back to their original form. Worst case, root, custom recovery and flash some other ROMs and see what happens next.
I bought the phone brand new, not second hand. Also, they told me they would not honor the warranty because ncix is not an authorized dealer, which should be irrelevant knowing that the phone has this preexisting issue.
I'm not interested in rooting or installing custom roms at this time.
I was just trying to help you by display a few options that what you can do. Choose to do it or not, it's your personal choice.
I am curious as to why so many people seem to be ordering a TGSP from intelliARMOR. Since there are so many other brands out there and I am very pleased with the one I use for my N6, I would like to know what are the distinctives that set intelliARMOR apart from the others so perhaps with my 6P I can decide to use them as opposed to the other brands?
I think a lot of it comes down to the level of customer service they have shown in the forums related to which TGSP to get for your 6P. They've been very active in the forums and quick to answer questions and take feedback. They've gone though at least one redesign due to wrong measurements for the location of the proximity sensors and will be shipping out revised replacements to the people that already received their order. They also provided a BOGO coupon code that ended last Friday. Lots of warm fuzzies being provided.

This.
And that a lot of info in threads about other manufacturers providing vague or straight up BS answers to customer requests, where IntelliArmor has been forthright and honest.
Thanks for the replies as it seems like the company is like Cuisinart of the 1980's regarding customer support. What I am looking for however is related to the product itself so can any more of this information be provided?

I order 2 for my 6P but I don't have them or the 6P yet so I can't provide you any feedback but check the actual threads here on XDA related to picking a TGSP to get for a 6P. Some people already received the first batch from IA and can provide feedback I'm sure. I personally don't remember seeing anything negative outside the first batch not having the right cut out for the proximity sensor which they are fixing for the next batch.
Honestly I ordered from them because of their customer service. Their prices are on par with everyone else after the coupons. As for their product itself, I have received one if their first batches but I can't really comment on it til I get my phone. I also don't want to give a comment on an unfinished product. They are sending me a new one though because that is what a company with excellent customer service does. Other companies usually don't have this level of care. I believe that is the primary reasoning for most people ordering from intelliarmor. I'll update with a product review after I receive the new TSGP and my phone.
