DG, just a quick question, I saw some chatter in some of the other ROM threads about a possible issue with the barcode scanner (relating to video issues with the 2.2.1 source) and your name was dropped as looking into it. Is this an issue still with Perception 10?

pretty much anything that uses the camera needs to be updated to support 2.2.1, every camera app I have tried in the market FC's. Stock camera works fine.

Looking forward to it DG, actually going to make a donation to you this week. Your ROM's are the only ones I actually use, tried others but something about them ain't right.

I flashed a couple 2.2.1 roms and at first when I did a TiBu restore, I restored all the apps with data and got the fc's on email, barcode scanner and camera 360. I reflashed the roms, but this time didnt restore email.apk, camera or camera firmware and no more fc's. I even tried it on perception 9.5 and it worked.
It works! Give it a shot

This is the under 100 meg ROM targeted for the user who could use reduced BLOAT! So being the mad scientist that I am, I used nitr8 Insanity rom as the base after I looked it over tonight. I then added the TLJL3 modem and SetiroN i9000 SuperOptimized ReOriented Kernel. I wanted to have the ROM as basic as possible and then see how fast I could make it. I know that I am going to be asked about two items, and I have not tested either one yet. This is the GPS and Bluetooth. So those who do test it out, let us know. All credit goes to nitr8, SetiroN, and the other devs here. I am just the fool that took the time to put it together.
Features:
Update 12-26-2010
* Telus TLJL3 on 8.25, UGJK4 on 8.26
* Voltage Control 3.0-alpha3
* Gingy Keyboard
* SetiroN i9000 SuperOptimized ReOriented 1.4.7 1288 Kernel
* BusyBox v1.17.3 - Full
* AOSP Lock screen + Extended Menu
* AOSP MMS and Calculator
* Swype 2.10.52.13753.t100
* Backlight Notification Settings
Missing Applications:
Simply download the apk at http://insanity.rollus.net you require see spreadsheet (GalaxyS-Apps Spreadsheet http://tinyurl.com/233g4lc) and then:
adb push Missing.apk /sdcard/

I tried for awhile tonight but I could not figure out how to fix the error that occurs using sideload wonder machine. If anyone knows how, help me out. Thanks!
I take no responsibility for ANY damage / data loss may occur. Use this at your own risk. This is a work in progress and I fully support the bigger dogs taking this over and making it better. I just found something I liked and made it useful. So I thought it would be selfish of me not to share

I'm flashing this rom right now. Was recommended by another user for fast quadrant scores, which is what I'm after.
Will post my honest feedback later
this looks very interesting. looking at the quadrant score its about 400 points higher than what im getting with assonance. but lets be honest, my assonance score blows the nexus 2.2 outta the water also, so im kind of looking for just a tad more to make me switch. does this have CWM powerbutton menu? maybe if you used cyanogen music player and themed it just a touch to simplify the look. im loving the quadrant score though, may flash anyway, but i just cant stand the UI design of froyo, googles designers failed hard, which is rare. they should hire me. :O

Nice to see someone posting a ROM without donation links. This is the spirit!
This is a kernel based on GT-i9010 JL1 Armani source.
Compatible with 2.2 and 2.2.1 ROMS.
I ran the Andromeda 2.0 ROM (currently running Andromeda3) as my daily driver and liked the kernel the ROM came with (UrsaMinor) for speed, smoothness, and battery but had a couple issues, like in call volume, so I got inspired to contact the guys on TeamKomin, grab the 9010 source play with it. This kernel is what I ended up with. It's been working great for me for a while now so I figured I'd share it.
Normal disclaimer about you flashing at your own risk <here>.
What's in it?
Boosted in call volume
Applied hardcore's mic bias tweaks
Wifi and Camera drivers ported from JPX
Jhash updated to jhash3

I have had the best success with the UGJL2 modem here in the north eastern US. YMMV.
UPDATE: Thanks to perosredo for doing some testing of modems with the kernel. His results are here Modem Test Spreadsheet
Looks like JK4 will work nicely with the kernel as well, at least from a speed perspective. IMO GPS is still a little better with JL2 though.
I have a KB1 kernel working as well with similar tweaks that I might post as well if anyone is interesting in testing it.

I've been running it for about a month now personally on my dev and daily phone. Also built the new UrsaMinor kernel with the same source for TeamKomin and they have been testing.
So I guess some... but not the whole world.

As for the comparison all I can give is my limited knowledge and opinion. The i9010 is almost identical hardware to the Captivate. So the base kernel code is closer to the Captivate than the i9000. An example of that would be there is no need to reorient the i9010 code for portrait like you have to in the i9000 code.
<snip>
JL2 is a 9000 modem, sorry for the confusion.
Maybe someone with more knowledge/advice will chime in as well.

I would recommend the JL2 modem over an i9000 based one mainly since the the modem and kernel are "matched". You can also try the GLJL1 if you like as well. If I were going to test modems I'd try the Armani ones first, then the Captivate ones, then the i9000.

So....any testing of the 10 point yet? I'd love to see a screen shot of all 10 of your fingers working on the screen at the same time.
Since alot of people have asked what is the major benefit/different of a 2.2.1 based ROM especially if you are coming from a 2.2 based rom. I decided to share my observation. Most of the changes are with the browser.
Browser:
-Hardware accelerated Scrolling (smooth scrolling even with Flash content).
-Better hardware accelerated Flash content (it is now possible to play certain mobile optimized high definition (HD) content)
Ex. Try it at Gametrailers.com, and goto Desktop Site then select an HD video.
-Slightly faster javascript performance.
Ex. Test at Sunspider Javascript Bench
Wallpaper:
-Differentiable wallpaper for lock screen vs. home screen
Gmail:
-2.2.1 has support for better authentication and prioritized inbox (I am not sure if they released a new update to allow the latter to run on 2.2 Froyo).
Email:
-Exchange ActiveSync Support.
Alarm:
-Slide the stop/snooze vs pressing the onscreen button - Credit: aangita!
GALLERY:
-now displays from oldest -> newest - Credit: aangita!
Other:
-Bug Fix and Security patches to 2.2
-DriveSmart [Only in certain I9000 based ROM] - Thanks Rakeshchn!
-Enhanced RFS performance - Thanks Rakehschn!
-Google Backup Support will now reinstall previously installed application after prompting for password (in JSJ/JSG) - explodingboy70! (personally unconfirmed at the moment).
Let me know if I missed something, I will add it to the list and credit you for it.
New .1 designation for 2.2.1.
Lol jk don't add that to your list
Drive smart? Also did Samsung enhance RFS in 2.2.1?
these are not major, but they are changes! :/
ALARM : you have to slide the stop/snooze option vs pressing the onscreen button.
GALLERY: displays from oldest -> newest
Some apps are not present in the app drawer but are still installed.. (I dont know if that is for everyone, but I noticed it on my phone after the update!)

The option has always been there and I've never unchecked it when setting up a new rom. This is the first time that I've had 39 apps download all by themselves and not had to use titanium backup to restore for me. Mind you I had to re-enter passwords but didn't have to do anything this time. If I'm wrong and your apps have re-installed without you doing anything the I will gladly edit my prior post. Oh and on Vibrant also.

Yes, the overall animation and transition between Apps are smoother. However, it really depends on the ROM you are using. Stock 2.2.1 is gonna be laggier than a 2.2.1 ROM that has been tweaked by developers like EDT.

This depends on what you do with your phone, the modem and the kernel you use. Generally, I didn't notice a battery drop moving from 2.2 to 2.2.1
But things that will decrease battery life that are usually present in 2.2.1
-OC kernels (Tiger Blood, Overstock). Of course if you decide to not enable the OC, battery life should be comparable to 2.2
-KB1 Modem, I heard that KA5 modem is more battery efficient but it has a higher latency and lower output.
Browser is not hardware accelerated because when I scroll CPU spikes to 100%.

Is 2.2.1 an official stock release? I'm on the stock KA6 right now, how can I get 2.2.1?
No it's not an official release. To get it you've to flash one of the custom 2.2.1 roms in the development forum.

which ROM are you using? Also, have you tried to scroll a webpage with flash content on 2.2 vs. 2.2.1? On 2.2, it is really choppy and laggy while on 2.2.1, it is silky smooth. (to the point it almost feels like how the browser scrolled like in 2.1).
Video calling through network data should be up and ready on 2.2.1 i havent tried it though.

luigi2012...you can't post that here until the developer releases the source for the kernel. And, if you don't believe me, watch what happens to this thread once the moderator finds it (hint: locked and deleted).

Vanir is now in Beta for the Find5. We could use some feedback on how it is doing. Currently, we forked CM's device tree + kernel
Currently all Oppo builds can be found in the nightly section for both Vanir and Commotio

Only this one: android_device_oppo_find5 + the kernel
We have otherwise modified CM and/or other find5 device repos. And of course built upon VanirAOSP.
We are now modifying the kernel..... sooo only that branch listed above.

Seemed fast but I had 2 issues. No phone? I could call from the contacts app but there's no dialer lol. And the blue font does not play well with themes. I'd like to try it again for sure.

Commotio vs Vanir is basically scripts and theme. I prefer some different scripts. And makes telling Nuke's and my nightlies apart much easier.

It was probably a bad flash, however I like this! Works with Xposed perfectly. Just a few tweaks around the settings and this will be my daily driver as long it keeps updating and till the One Plus One is out
I have been testing this Rom for the last three days and it is really good The latest nightly is a little messed up as the corresponding cyanogenmod so it is understandable. You should open a threat over at oppo's forums, the find 5 community is very active there and you would get a lot of love for this Rom thanks for your work
