This is the under 100 meg ROM targeted for the user who could use reduced BLOAT! So being the mad scientist that I am, I used nitr8 Insanity rom as the base after I looked it over tonight. I then added the TLJL3 modem and SetiroN i9000 SuperOptimized ReOriented Kernel. I wanted to have the ROM as basic as possible and then see how fast I could make it. I know that I am going to be asked about two items, and I have not tested either one yet. This is the GPS and Bluetooth. So those who do test it out, let us know. All credit goes to nitr8, SetiroN, and the other devs here. I am just the fool that took the time to put it together.
Features:
Update 12-26-2010
* Telus TLJL3 on 8.25, UGJK4 on 8.26
* Voltage Control 3.0-alpha3
* Gingy Keyboard
* SetiroN i9000 SuperOptimized ReOriented 1.4.7 1288 Kernel
* BusyBox v1.17.3 - Full
* AOSP Lock screen + Extended Menu
* AOSP MMS and Calculator
* Swype 2.10.52.13753.t100
* Backlight Notification Settings
Missing Applications:
Simply download the apk at http://insanity.rollus.net you require see spreadsheet (GalaxyS-Apps Spreadsheet http://tinyurl.com/233g4lc) and then:
adb push Missing.apk /sdcard/
adb shell

I tried for awhile tonight but I could not figure out how to fix the error that occurs using sideload wonder machine. If anyone knows how, help me out. Thanks!
I take no responsibility for ANY damage / data loss may occur. Use this at your own risk. This is a work in progress and I fully support the bigger dogs taking this over and making it better. I just found something I liked and made it useful. So I thought it would be selfish of me not to share

I am not sure regarding swype. I scanned through the thread on the i9000 but could not find anything off hand. If I find something later, I will pull it out.
Battery life has been fine so far. I have not noticed a difference from other roms.

I'm flashing this rom right now. Was recommended by another user for fast quadrant scores, which is what I'm after.
Will post my honest feedback later
this looks very interesting. looking at the quadrant score its about 400 points higher than what im getting with assonance. but lets be honest, my assonance score blows the nexus 2.2 outta the water also, so im kind of looking for just a tad more to make me switch. does this have CWM powerbutton menu? maybe if you used cyanogen music player and themed it just a touch to simplify the look. im loving the quadrant score though, may flash anyway, but i just cant stand the UI design of froyo, googles designers failed hard, which is rare. they should hire me. :O

This is the fastest rom I've ever used and I've used them all. Sucks I can't get any themes working properly though.

This is a kernel based on GT-i9010 JL1 Armani source.
Compatible with 2.2 and 2.2.1 ROMS.
I ran the Andromeda 2.0 ROM (currently running Andromeda3) as my daily driver and liked the kernel the ROM came with (UrsaMinor) for speed, smoothness, and battery but had a couple issues, like in call volume, so I got inspired to contact the guys on TeamKomin, grab the 9010 source play with it. This kernel is what I ended up with. It's been working great for me for a while now so I figured I'd share it.
Normal disclaimer about you flashing at your own risk <here>.
What's in it?
Boosted in call volume
Applied hardcore's mic bias tweaks
Wifi and Camera drivers ported from JPX

I have had the best success with the UGJL2 modem here in the north eastern US. YMMV.
UPDATE: Thanks to perosredo for doing some testing of modems with the kernel. His results are here Modem Test Spreadsheet
Looks like JK4 will work nicely with the kernel as well, at least from a speed perspective. IMO GPS is still a little better with JL2 though.
I have a KB1 kernel working as well with similar tweaks that I might post as well if anyone is interesting in testing it.
One last thing I guess... I do this as a hobby, it's not my life.

Just out of curiosity, how much testing was done prior to the first release?
EDIT: And would you be able to comment on how afar apart the Armani base kernel is from say, the i9000?

I've been running it for about a month now personally on my dev and daily phone. Also built the new UrsaMinor kernel with the same source for TeamKomin and they have been testing.
So I guess some... but not the whole world.

As for the comparison all I can give is my limited knowledge and opinion. The i9010 is almost identical hardware to the Captivate. So the base kernel code is closer to the Captivate than the i9000. An example of that would be there is no need to reorient the i9010 code for portrait like you have to in the i9000 code.
<snip>
JL2 is a 9000 modem, sorry for the confusion.
Maybe someone with more knowledge/advice will chime in as well.

I would recommend the JL2 modem over an i9000 based one mainly since the the modem and kernel are "matched". You can also try the GLJL1 if you like as well. If I were going to test modems I'd try the Armani ones first, then the Captivate ones, then the i9000.
Maybe someone with more knowledge/advice will chime in as well.

Q&A
Is this CM7?
No, this is a build that started from AOSP. However, some of the fixes and few features have been derived from the CyanogenMod Team, including the CM kernel.

Just a few questions about this. I'm not trying to be mean or anything here, just looking for information.
What are the features of this rom?
Why would i want to use it over a CM rom or a different AOSP rom?
I assume it is gingerbread from the context of it asking if it is CM7, but this is never explicitly stated. The EverVolv site is also lacking in this kind of information. there is a wiki on how to install and stuff relating to specific phones/, and screenshots showing the launchers and the font they use, but no real information about the rom itself. point of fact, theres more information in the OP about these questions ("highly responsive, Excellent memory management and very lean!") than on their website.
Right now it seems that the major distinction is that "its not CM7."
after saying all that though, thanks for porting it! i'll d/l tonight for testing on the morrow!

What's the difference between odexed and de odexed
Sent from my THE END using XDA Premium App
Odexed Roms are pre-optimized so all the apks will load faster... Odexed Rome cannot be themed also. Deodexed means there are no optimized files, which generally wont effect performance much and can easily be themed.
You'll notice a sought difference between them, the odexed versions runs smoother.

Since I'm a ROM flashing junkie and work graveyard, I just loaded this up and am testing it out right now.
Observations from the whole 20 minutes I've had it on here: (de-odexed version, cuz I like to make patches in UOT kitchen ):
The default LCD density in the build.prop is set to 140, which I like because it give it a nice high res effect, but some people might find hard on the eyes. Also, keep in mind if you're going to stick with 140, turning off compatibility mode in spare parts will help a lot of apps scale and look proper at this density.
Wifi works, GPS locks on (haven't had a chance to test out navigation yet to see if it has the infamous force close or lock up the phone bug), softkey lights work, camera works (including double tap to zoom in).
Overall the ROM is very stable and snappy, great job!

i know in the other thread (macrom thread) that macordroid said he had a lot of free ram.
anyone else seeing this? i'm interested, but i just got the current rom setup the way i wanted and don't want to jump ship unless this is as compelling as it sounds.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys! I'll setup a density change file for those wanting the stock Eris density...
Keep posting the reviews. ;D
Sent from my EverVolV Eris using XDA App
Anyone wanting to revert the LCD Density to Stock Eris (160 dpi), I have attached a couple of flashable files to replace the build.prop...
Stock will put you back at the standard 160 dpi, High will revert it back to the Rom dpi (140).
Cool - thanks for the flashables! I will try the 160 today and let you know. So far I really like this ROM - other than the small text, which is a strain on my crappy eyes! But this is really zippy so far, and everything seems to be working great, including Navigation (which I know seems to be hit or miss anyway...but it worked this morning).
Great job on this ROM!
Update: ah - relief! The update to the density did the trick. It also helped with some of the issues when looking in the settings-->applications, where the size of the app was cut off at the top, I don't know if the Eris can handle the smaller font in all cases due to its native ppi (or whatever it's called!).
I presume 160dpi will make fonts (and other items) slightly bigger ? I manually changed build.prop from 140 to 160 and rebooted but text is now SMALLER !
I did notice that the 'dpi' entry is listed TWICE in build.prop. It's my understanding that the "last one wins". I changed both too...
Hello there!
I have another goodie from the Honey Series for our Tabs! While the previous one was a HC rom, now we are heading towards Ice Cream Sandwich! I have created a CWM Flashable Add-on. This addon was firstly something created to simply add eye candy to ICS. But I felt that was not enough. Smoothness is another very important part. This is my changelog:
Added Asus Transformer Icons for Back, Home and Recent apps
Added advanced toggles for WiFi, BT and other stuff to the notification bar just like in CyanogenMod.
Added a smoother Launcher2.apk ported from Motorola Xoom
SystemUI.apk is also new. A bit smoother, I would say
New cool walpapers!
Build.prop tweaks removed from Galaxian Soup ROM are back! Together with a couple of new ones and some sorted out thanks to motley.
In the next versions, I am planning to add some better wallpapers, work on speed even more to push ICS to its very best.
THE DOWNLOAD LINKS ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST
Gapps
As I have said in the Galaxian-soup forum, there will be new gapps incoming. I should post this in their, but you'll see it there when nycbjr accepts them. For those who can't wait, the download like is down there! These gapps add the ICS Voice search and give you the newest versions of apps availiable.
I will be updating this post every day, and so will I my builds, so you will get all sorts of stuff daily.
Compatibility: This was tested on Galaxian-Soup v0.9 and 1.5, but I feel any Galaxian soup rom should be fine. I think that it should work with CM9 too, but no guarantee. Just dont flash it into HC

flashed it on top of CM9. worked fine so far.
ran a benchmark (antutu) at 1,5ghz before and after flash, and lost some points in just about every aspect. ( i know its not very representative but anyhow here goes)
before 6239
after 6139
I'll do that. Tell me how it goes.
Some Update! I managed to replace walllpapers, so you will have new wallpapers in the wallpapers folder. Tested and ported some from HTC Jetstream and we will see what more can I get! Also, I have added a custom Launcher Made by me. Even smoother!

Yea. It is because of some build.prop tweaks we have cancelle in galaxian soup. I put them back. They will put down your Benchmark score, because they keep the launcher i the memory. One of the wars to make the launcher more responsive. I have a new version with new cool wallpapers and more build.prop tweaks which should put your score back up. And also, remember that those little point differences are pretty much random.
Update Posted. Performance improved.

You talk about V0.3 ? Because there is just link for 0.2.
Yes. Fixed now. I added a note there. Sorry if it says 0.2. It says 0.2.2. Officially its 0.3, but I call it 0.2.2, because 0.3 is my other text version so i dont confuse myself
Pseudoheld, After the performance Improvement, I got 6690 on AnTuTu. Pretty big leap. I put governor performance 1500mhz.

my rom is ]Galaxian-Soup/7300][beta 1.5.1]
Battery life question
How long is battery?
Thanks for your great work, but please use another hoster. Rapidshare is so slow...
Ok- here is an update for both roms. THey are both WAAAY better, and most things are working.
Things which now work(both builds):
-HW ACCEL
-Audio, permanent mic fix
-bluetooth
-wifi
-most games, apps that work on 4.1.2
-overclocking, to 1.2
-all android 4.2 features now work after gapps install, but swype keyboard is still a little funny
*******things which dont work:
-screen wake up issue is no problem with new kernel, but with this 2.6.39 it just wont go away!
-still need to figure out a symlink for large obb files, etc. so there will never be a need to change CWM recovery/partitions for this android version
-I added the SIO scheduler and set it as default, works very well, but you cannot change it under >settings>performance, it is not implemented in CM yet, just use no frills app for now
-I also added lulzactive governor, it does work, i dunno how good it is.
******* I do not consider these roms daily driveable on this kernel until I figure out this wake up issue and symlinks, Ill do that last one once i figure out the first.

-to get developer options and performance settings to show up, you have to go to >settings>about tablet> "build number", and hit that tab 7 times, it will count you down the last three, and then the two options will now be there under settings again for "developer options" and "performance."
____________________________________________________________________________
******-AOKP*******, all the features are there and working, nice and smooth, gapps drags it down a little but its good enough to see if you even like 4.2, im still on the fence here.

*****-CM10.1-***** they now have "expanded desktop" ported from PA, so I can finally use CM for nba Jam, woohoo!!, I added in this option, to turn it on go into settings>system>power menu>and check "expanded desktop"
-I put back the old zram setup, you can now turn it on in settings>performance>memory management
-you can also add buttons to the navbar, so far only "search" and "menu"
-this one is better than AOKP, but GAPPS slow it down a little too, prolly need to slim those down some, but many are now required for everything to work right, I dont like this...it is what is is I guess, but its google being more like apple.

350meg partition, NO EXCUSES! both internal and external storage register as an SDCARD, while sdcard is emulated in the /data partition, I hope you are already 4gig, or you run out of room real quick. Of course, the partition table may need to be reconfigured, but my current goal is to symlink /android/data to the "original" internal storage,so the partitions dont need to be fooled with. any input or ideas are welcomed.

Super huge thanks for BORKATA and TEAMDRH, as well as AOKP, and CM guys!!!!!!
cant do any of it without there contributions......go thank them.
Happy new year
You can count on me
Impressive you got this booting! I'll keep my eyes on this for sure
ok, im running a fresh build now. Some more issues I have found are that no live wallpapers seem to work, and there are no statusbar toggles. THis thing seems like quite a mess, but im pushing through it.
The screen wakup thing annoys the hell out of me, it doesnt happen with the new kernel, and with the old one all the logcat shows is that the screen is now active, cannot find what triggers it. I also still dont know what to do about storage. I think i might look into swapping the /data and /internal_sd which would give a little over 11 gigs, plus 2 or 4 for storage. It is hard to figure out how to do this with the new emulated file structure for multi-user. I think that user "0" would end up having access, but users "1" or "2" etc. would not. I just dont quite know how to accomplish this, and I want to avoid partition changes, so people can switch back and forth to older roms.
cm 10.1 link added to OP. MUCH BETTER.....still a LOT to do.
I can't wait. I should see my dock any day. I don't have any juice or way to charge it till then... I miss my gtab

whoa!!!
Gtab is getting more awesome. Cant wait to get my hands on a rom running kernel3.1. waiting for Fosser. U devs are doing great job . efforts appreciated . this so fast though using it without the gapps. Will load gapps and report back on responsiveness . But as of now awesome is the word
EDIT------(after 4hrs of using rom ) for work in progress Rom i can give this Rom a safe 85%. After installing the Gapps the rom become little less snappy /Responsive just like you mentioned. And The screen flash issue at look screen wont just go away. B/w is this wake screen flashes Rom dependent because am just coming from latest smoother Bean to this Rom and i dont seem to be having this lock screen Issue. Yet to load any files to see responsiveness with it too but will report back when i do
Edit------- This a great Release but sad i have to got back to smoother bean for two reasons .1) the screen lock issue it a big deal cos the battery just get drained before u know it (though u made mention of it ) 2) just a thought this the 1st time am using a rom on my Gtab that is 160dpi and to be frank i love the way it looks . Would be glad if we could have it on your rom too. Apart from these and proper mounting of SD and other things you am good with it so far. You doing a great Job and is highly appreciated knowing someone is already working on 4.2.1 and i must add it UI looks Good.
Yeah...its not perfect, some of it I need to fix, and some of it the CM and AOKP guys are fixing it right now. I ran builds last night, with updates from both...I hope to post links later, but I need to test them myself to see whats better.....or worse. The wakeup issue, is only this rom......it was an official bug from google, but it was fixed by them too. I am still on it.....i appreciate all testers who can bring the issues to the forefront so they can be fixed.
My main goal here is that when key lime pie (or whatever "k" they use) comes, we'll be that much closer to booting it. Im still on the fence here with the always phablet mode of this 4.2.1, but you never know whats next, and the transtion will be smoother if we are already on the latest.
Once you guys see "beta" in the title, then my credibility can sink or swim with the functionality of the rom.
until then...test away, and please keep me informed of what you find...THANKS!!!
yea will keep doing that and thatz for being on it
Any new information Op, how this (wip)?
I'm about to give it a try for testing sake

OP kinda says it all right now. I am working on it and it is much better with new kernel. I really need to slim down the Gapps though.
Not asking for an ETA, but we have high hopes for r2 of your WIP CM 10.1 -

EOL ROM - This rom will not get any updates and I don't recommend using it, it is not very stable
Disclamer:
As all rom creators usually say, I am not responsible for anything that you do with this rom.
FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK!
You are free to use this rom as base to your rom!

This is my first thread and probably the last!
This is based on atila rom Lite V8 deodexed, almost all the work belongs to @zuziemanis.
See this for more info: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-sammy-port-4-4-4-atila-rom-gti-t3312992
You won't see many improvements over atila rom, call this a "modded atila rom by @JCFB"

My mods:
-Added some useful apps like greenify and xposed
-4-Way Reboot Menu
-Boeffla Kernel + Boeffla Config
-Updated Gapps and Busybox
-Tweaks in build.prop and some other things that i forgot
-Included @zuziemanis patches for atila rom

Thanks to:
@zuziemanis for Atila Rom
@[email protected] for 4-Way Reboot menu and some patches
@rom~addict5555 for encourage me to do this
@Android-Banjarmasin for new build.prop
Patches/Tricks:
Improve battery
open boeffla config app and use these voltage values in cpu/gpu: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/guide-galaxy-s3-cpu-gpu-overclocking-t1827635; then disable logcat and touch boost in the same app;
also close apps using greenify.
Doing this should improve battery a little without performance loss.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to new build.prop, battery lasts longer. Anyways it's even better if you follow this.
----------------------------------
V2 Black Screen Fix (and a nice build.prop update for those lazy people like me who are still using v1):

About slow downloads, i have a limited network, but I'll make a mirror on google drive soon. Pm or post here if you find some problem, i'll try to solve it

That must happen beacuase of the apps that I included or because I tweaked build.prop for better wifi and 3g connections, but I already included greenify and boeffla config because of battery, let me see which app/tweak drains the battery and i'll try to provide a fix
Working good, did a clean install.
Atila was already good but its okay to get more options
Boeffla app is saying it better be as a regular app and not a system one...
I did take care of that... seems fine now.
Nice mod here! Thanks.

PS: anoyone here who wants can help me to make this rom better. Just provide your patches, and i'll splitsream them and add you to my thanks list

That's not true, this ROM has so many improvements from stock atila
The battery life is awesome (When I remove and changed the build.prop tweaks) memory usage is good, its around 400-500MB used
And things that I love so much is the system size, its 700mb. I debloat it more to 550MB so I can repartition with repit to give more free on internal storage lol
But dev, can You port the Smart Pause feature on this ROM? That would be nice
