Ext4?? - Galaxy S I9000 General

According to this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_(operating_system)#Update_history
Surely official samsung 2.3 means us SGS users will be getting ext4?

Just download Voodoo. it uses ext4 already, no need to wait for 2.3.

One Click Root/UnRoot I9000 (Eclair and Froyo) tool on ATT captivate Froyo 2.2

Just hypotheticly, when froyo comes out for Captivate will the same tool work, or a new root will be needed just for captivate?
If you read a little closer, that only works with the earliest Froyo i900 builds. It doesn't one click the newer ones.
And yes, unless you run the i9000 ROm and kernel... There are enough differences that it wouldn't be the same.

Any word on release for 2.2 Froyo

I hear the release was made to the providers. Any idea when this will be available. also I am a little new to the droid market, and have rooted/Lag Fixed my phone. Whats the process to update to the latest release once available?
Read the Fascinate Dev forum. Get rid of that lag fix you have, and get a Voodoo kernel. Read the threads in that forum, every question you have is answered there. For status, monitor that forum.
I would wait and hold out on doing voodoo people are having alot of issues with it if it is not removed properly and showing they have 0 internal memory so i know im going to wait with my rooted fascinate until either there is a froyo rom or the ota comes and then possibly install that because you never know the ota may not work if you have that installed.
I would rather wait for a cooked froyo rom that includes the voodoo kernel. Screw the OTA. It will just put you back to square one. All verizoned and bloated.
good day.

Stock Android

Hey guys i am just wondering if there is a rom that has stock 2.2 or 2.3 android for the phone. No touch wiz or anything. I looked around but i just foiund 2.3 video, which i assume is not yet released.
2.3 is not released officially yet. if your looking for stock 2.2 try eclair or if you want 2.2.1 try froyo.
both can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913
search for cyanogen mod 7 there is a beta out
the 2.2 and 2.2.1 all have samsung touchwiz, i think only 2.3 doesn't have touch wiz, someone correct me if im wrong...

Yeah, you are right that 2.3 does not have touchwiz. Maybe it has something to do with a fact that there is no 2.3 for a single Samsung phone yet?

lol, maybe... I read somewhere that 2.3 won't have touchwiz, it will be android stock... i dot know if its a good or bad thing... Still waiting.
Wow! The misinformation in this thread is stunning....
The Android versions are as follows:
2.1 - Eclair
2.2 - Froyo
2.2.1 - Froyo
2.3 - Gingerbread
Now, as for touchwiz. The Galaxy S version will almost certainly have touchwiz. It will be very similar to our phones right now, but with the power of little Gingerbread Men.
Next, as for not a single Samsung phone not having 2.3. That is simply wrong. The Nexus S (a Samsung phone) was released with 2.3 over a month ago. However, because it is also Google branded, it does come with stock 2.3. The reason we don't have 2.3 on the Galaxy S yet is because they are adding touchwiz and all the other Samsung crap. And unfortunately, the hardware difference between the Nexus S and the Galaxy S is big enough that an easy port is not possible until Samsung releases the 2.3 source code for out Galaxy S.
All of the stock samsung ROMs are ALL with the touch-wiz.....
If you want there are many cooked roms without it, or CyanogenMod Beta that is gingerbread 2.3.....

CyanogenMod Beta i guess is what i al looking for

Installed EB01/SC2.4..can I throw Voodoo in as well?

Hey guys I am new to all of this, just installed my first custom ROM etc etc.
Anyway, a buddy of mine swears by the Voodoo lag fix, my question is: Can I just flash voodoo lag fix on top of what I have now or do I need to do anything else? Also, is there more than one version of the lag fix, or will any one I find via searching suffice?
I did download the 'Reboot Button' in the market because I have read that once you DO have Voodoo, you need to disable before flashing other ROM's.
Sorry for my ignorance, but all help is appreciated! Thanks in advance..
For 2.2, only one kind of Voodoo kernel is avaliable as the 2.2 froyo kernel source isn't out yet. Make sure you flash the kernel for your SC version! (2.4)
Flashing a voodoo kernel just involves flashing a regular kernel. However, on the first boot, the screen stays on thr Samsung voot screen. Then, there should be a robotic voice that tells you that its converting rfs to ext4 and stuff. Converting should take a while, so don't touch the phone will its converting. The Samsung screen will stay during the whole process. After converting, the voice will tell you its done, and your phone will boot up as usual, with voodoo goodness.
Rockin' DJ05, Liberty Gingerbread, Clocked at 1.2ghz Voodoo
-----------------------------------
Yes, still on 2.1, waiting on some Gingerbread goodness, but might flash Vanilla Froyo.

[Q] Pulling ARIA Flash 10.1 Support to a Custom Rom

The recent OTA/Downloadable 2.2 update from ATT on the Aria states that there is "Adobe Flash 10.1 compatibility " within the update.
Are there any plans to tinker with the rom update and make an updated rooted liberated rom, or are there issues with the bootloader that stop that from happening?
If not, are there plans to pull that "Adobe Flash 10.1 compatibility" out of the stock rom and implement it in something like CM7 or another custom rom?
I don't see anyone talking about it, but it seems like the flash compatibility (assuming it's not just a custom "lite" version of flash) isn't limited to the hardware of the phone anymore.
the cake is a lie
armv6 doesnt support flash only flash lite
Well thats pretty disappointing. I currently have cmod6 on my aria, and it doesn't do any kind of flash, but I had flash lite working in my original pre-root phone.
I mean, if cm7 includes 10.1 lite, Ill just update it. I'm just wondering if anyone is making the effort to include the new stuff from 2.2 in any new custom rom build.

The processor in the Aria is not supported by Adobe Flash 10.1. You can download and install it, but it will not run. It will force close.
and cm7 will never have flash lite in it(not opensource) its part of sense roms

According to an email I received from AT&T this morning, the cake is real. (I can't vouch for the spoon.)
An important software update to Android 2.2 is available for your HTC Aria.
Updates include:
• Performance enhancements*
• Adobe Flash 10.1 compatibility
• Mobile Hotspot** and Tethering Support†
• Improved email and calendar features and functionality

It wouldn't surprise me that AT&T's marketing division got the facts wrong. But AT&T is directly telling people that Flash 10.1 will work on the Aria.

Flash doesn't support the Aria's processor, period.
Flash lite doesn't support AOSP, hence the reason it's only on the stock ROMs.
AT&T clearly doesn't know what they're talking about lol.
I installed it on mine. Just go here: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-install-flash-10-1-on-android-2-1-eclair-devices/
Ok...
There are two requirements Adobe has for installing Flash on Android.
1. Froyo
2. Arm7 processor
The previous post links to a method of installing Flash on Eclair. Fine and dandy. However, even if you can manage to meet requirement 1, it is absolutely impossible to meet requirement 2! Why is this so?
The Aria has an Arm6 processor and not the Arm7 processor that is required for Flash to function.
In the end, it is possible to install Flash on the phone, but it will not work because the processor isn't supported. Claims to the contrary are untrue, and most likely the result of the phone still using Flash Lite to draw from for support.
