I'm on froyo 318 with performance fix
I just noticed that when I receive a text message, it would say that I received it 5 hours earlier. eg. my wife sends me a text at 6pm, I'll receive it at 6pm but the time will say 1pm.
anyone having the same issue?
thanks

Hi im also facing the same issue and its a pain as the message we receive is above the message we send.
Hope DELL releases a fix for the same soon.
the windows mobile os used to have the same problem, there was a registry tweak that fixed it... likely there is one in android... unlikely a dell specific problem.
anyone know where this setting might be?
I checked the settings and I couldn't find anything even change the time to military time still didn't make a difference
hope someone could point us to the right direction

hi,
when i receive a sms, i notice if i use the reply option my sms will not go through...it says sent but actually not get delivered. i have to use the NEW option all the time. anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
The same thing happens to me!
But in my case, it says NOT SENT!
only the NEW option works....!
I guess its something with the Radio unit!
ezzkht,
u ever solved the problem or know the cause of it?
Nop! I never find a solution for it
I guess it could be a problem with the SMS message center!
I remember the Nokia phones, there has been an option under the SMS menu, named USE SAME MESSAGE CENTER WHEN REPLYING!
When I used to put this option on, replying to SMS won't work with me, but once I turn it off, everything goes alright!
I donno if there's such an option in Pocket PC :?

I have the same problem on Tmobile's system here, but only when replying to cingular customers. TMobile has a ticket open for me but it has been open since February, I was told in May that it would probably be another 6 months before they got it fixed. The problem I have found is that when you reply it uses 11 digits instead of 10.....If you do a message with 10 it gets delivered, if you do it with 11 it says sent on your device but never gets past their server. If you do a delivery confirmation on the replies then you will get them back after a couple of days detailing the problem above, or at least I do.

i reply too sms all the time
i'm using rom1.66
it might be network related. i don't have a problem with mine.

Hi first post on here so hello. I have a HTC TYTN which is on the 3UK mobile network and i notice that i dont always recieve SMS messages and in fact a collegue of mine has the Orange version (unlocked with a 3 SIM) and also gets the same problem. I used to get this on a standard build TYTN and recently upgraded the Radio ROM to 1.35 and the OS to WM6 hoping that it was software related, but i still get missing texts. I just sent 10 texts from another 3UK mobile and only recieved 2...in fact when ever i have tested this you do seem to only get 2 out of the messages sent.
I also dont get delivery notifications, but not sure if this is related.
Any ideas? I would suspect that is most likely to do with 3's Network and as the phone is not officially support doubt anything will be done about it, but i thought i would just ask and see if anyone else has had this issue and had any suggestions...
Many thanks
Drew

Welcome to the wonderful world of Tytn - A rewarding if sometimes frustrating experience
I've read about folks not receiving or being able to send SMS at all, I've read about folk missing texts if the device freezes while in sleep mode, but I have not read about only receiving a proportion of texts sent. Still maybe you'll get some posts to cofirm or otherwise whether it is the three network.
As regards notifications. Normally notifications will be set to on, but perhaps not in your case. The following is taken from the wiki see brown bar near top of this page. This refers to the registry and is the change necessary to turn notifications off (as many seem to want). In your case it would be a reversal of the settings:
Disable SMS received notification
The following setting disable SMS notification and sms recieved icon on screen
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSAvailable = 0>
To enable again
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSAvailable = 1>
Cheers
Mike
Hi Mike,
Cheers for your reply, but what i meant by delivery notifications is when i send a SMS to someone and i get a sms back saying it got delivered. I think to be honest this is all part of the same problem. I know someone who works within the 3 messaging team so might ask him to trace the SMSs for me and see what happens.
Cheers
Do you get a notification saying "message sent"?
I have heard of cases (not on 3) where texts have been sent, and then the messaging application closed before this notification appears, and then when the app is opened again, 2 identical texts are sent.
It seems that if the app is not left open for sufficient time after sending (ie before the 'message sent' notification appears), the device can get confused.
Having said that, on t-mob, texting to and from o2, over the past 6 months there have been 1 or 2 occasions when the text sent has not been received for about 3 hours!
Hi,
Yea i have had the odd instance where friends have recieved multiple texts also occasional get the SMS was not able to be sent message.
I don't seem to get delay in recieving texts just never get some. Interesting a friend bought a newer TYTN last week (mine is august/september last year) and he doesnt have the issue and we both have same ROM versions.
Did another test today and out of 10 only got 6. Very strange, it is starting to drive me crazy LOL. Even more so that other people i know have same issue (out of the 6 people i know who have Hermes phones 5 have the issue all on the 3 UK mobile network either TYTN or Orange one unlocked). The 5 of use did buy the phones all about the same time.
I can only assume there has been some very minor change in the hardware or firmware between the earlier Tytns and the later ones.
I have logged a call with HTC Tech support europe and he said never seen this before but he will pass it to the dev team to look at...so be interesting what they come back with.

Hi there,
I live in Australia and today daylight savings for us has just started. We were supposed to put the clocks one hour forward and that is exactly what I did. My time is correct everywhere besides incoming sms messages. They are time stamped exactly an hour behind to what the current time is; i.e my old time. This is a huge inconvenience because when I'm having a conversation via sms, I will send a message and it'll be correctly timestamped and then I'll get a message back time stamped an hour behind, so when I'm looking at the sms messages I have to scroll up to read the newest one received.
I am currently on Tom Codons ROM and a I have just installed the "SMS fix" which I knew wouldn't do anything because Tom Codons ROM is based on the newest ROM available. Is there a way to fix this issue?
Any help is appreciated,
Alex
The way i understand it, the received SMS time-stamp is taken from the network system. Not from the phone clock. At least, that's how it works in our country.
Of all the phone i used, including HD mini, they always work that way. Except a couple of generations of Sony Ericsson feature phones, which would base the time-stamp from the phone's clock. (But the network's time-stamp still show up in the details of the sms.)
Maybe the network needs to adjust their system.
Hey there,
Thanks for your quick reply we shall see if the network systems clock has been changed in the upcoming days.
Thanks
Alex
You're welcome.
Hey all,
I have encountered a similar problem. If I receive 2 SMS of the same contact and I reply, if that all happens in the same minute (and it does ), HTC's Message-stuff puts the messages in the wrong order.
For example, I got an SMS and then I got another, then I reply, HTC will put them in this order:
SMS 1
My Reply
SMS 2
Instead of
SMS 1
SMS 2
My reply
That's because your phone time does not match the network time. Maybe off by a few minutes. Your sent message is stamped with phone time, logically. And received message is stamped with network time. So if you're engage in a continuous exchange, each sent and received messages differ by only a few seconds or minutes, then this kind of incorrect order happens.
Try to sync your phone time with internet time. This will lessen the chances of wrong order. But you can't totally eliminate it 100%. Unless the conversation exchanges happen very slowly (for example, one or both of your compose text slowly), with several minutes gap between each text.

Thanks for the explanation! I thought it was a bug
You're welcome.
Hey there,
Just wanted to confirm that my problem has been fixed. The network finally decided to change its time, resulting in the received messages to be time-stamped correctly.
Thanks bart for clearing up what was causing it. (I was tempted to hard reset lol...)

Wow, great! I like how your network respond to customers. Big company responding to individual users. Very good. Total opposite of HTC tech support.
Hello to everyone!
I've been recently having some troubles with my evo 4g. I'm running fresh 3.5.0.1 and just updated my radios to 1.90_003 . Right before i upgraded (from fresh 3.4 or 3.3 not sure) I started to have problems with my text messages.
First i noticed that i got one from "the future" it was timestamped about 2 hours ahead of what time it was and i didn't recieve a notification for it. So i checked for some updates since it had been a while and upgraded everything i was suppose to (ota, radio, wimax, pri, etc). Now my messages seem to have the same problem if not more. I get alerted 5 or 10 minutes after i receive the message, while going through my conversations say i select a convo with my friend zack and convo from my friend kyle will come up, and i will have to go back and select it again.
So i'm wondering if this is a service provider problem or something with the apps for custom firmware i'm using. Could it be caused by an app like JuiceDefender?
The timestamp issue usually only happens when roaming, but can also be caused by network issues in general. My old flip phone, rumor, and instinct all had that issue from time to time.
The other issue with opening one text and getting someone else is an android issue, engadget reported on that today actually.

Yeah I have been having time stamp issues also. And when someone replies, it puts them all above my txts sent that day, so I gotta constantly scroll up to read txts.
Anyone got any idea's on fixing this?

^^That happens to me too^^ I thought my phone was just fcukin up. It does it when someone sends me a pic. Puts it at the top of the convo's for that day...
I got a "VERY" important text 20 mins late the other day too. 20 mins too late!!! Pissed me off!!!!
good to know that i'm not the only one experiencing this problem hopefully gets fixed soon. if i had to guess i think it's most likely a problem/conflict with sprint and android.
Hey guys, I noticed my Atrix is posting the good time for my outgoing SMS but my incoming SMS posts a 4 hour difference... I don't understand, I tried rebooting the phone, clearing the cache, but nothing worked... I still get the messages at the right time, but the posted time (only for received messages) is 4 hours late (for example, it's 4PM and I receive a live message, knowing it's been sent live, but the UI posts that I received the message at 12...).
Have any of you been having this problem too? Anything I can do to fix this?

Let me guess...you're on Rogers' network?
This is a known network issue related to their network system and has NOTHING to do with your phone. I've seen this issue with all Android phones on their network.
To fix this minor issue, you need to download a tiny app from the Market that will adjust the timestamp for your timezone. It's called "SMS Time Fix" by Matthew Precious(?) and it works great. It doesn't use any CPU cycles (it does, but it's so minimal you can't even see it) or resources on your phone. I've been using it since Aug 2010 and no issues.
