Owning both devices (JPO on Galaxy S and JJ7 on Tab), I wonder about the huge difference in available RAM. Both have 512mb built-in with the Tab having about 430+ available but the Galaxy S only having 304mb. Now my tab runs wifi only but even plugging in a SIM does not make much difference to the available RAM.
Anybody having a good explanation for this?
Tab really has more physical ram. There's 128mb more in tab. Why this is not reported in spec sheet, I don't know.

Now we have the two froyo source code, we can compare and merge the two kernel for porting same functionality to galaxy s.
1 ) Ram from 304 to 446 (if the galaxy tab have the same memory of galaxy s)
2 ) Playback of 1080p videos (the cpu is capable)
3) hdmi out (it is possible, look at MHD_SiI9234.c)
1) There are some hardware differences between Tab and the phone, 640Mb vs 512Mb physical ram.
2)The other two things should go together, and an affordable microusb to hdmi cable too.
Would be nice too to port the 60/66fps limitation instead of actual 56/57fps. Is there any lag in galaxy tab? I read that the browser is faster. Uses RFS too no?
Maybe just we should wait to the cookers to make their awesome work, and now with the source code is released we can expect beautiful changes from them, just be patience with them.
It appears that in Tab Samsung used different kind of memory - instead (or on top) of MoviNAND they used OneNAND. This could be all the difference in speed and ram, as OneNAND should act partially also as RAM.
Is the Galaxy Tab able to act as a USB host? e.g. to a printer or hard-drive?
And if so is this functionality able to be ported across?
/may be dumb question, sorry I know nothing about Galaxy Tab

I got this too, and it is saying dual core 1.2Ghz Processor now (on the 3G model)
I'm guessing the 1.2GHz is a mistake on Vodafone's part. There was a lot of confusion on some websites whether the Samsung Galaxy S II had 1GHz or 1.2GHz so this could be a similar thing. If the UK version does have 1.2GHz Exynos chip then that would be super awesome as it's video playback support is much better than Tegra 2.
I have a feeling that that will turn out to be incorrect... Samsung have a track record of stamping on our hearts and souls and sitting back to watch the disappointment they have caused.
The 1.2GHz is not the only thing that's different to specs i have seen until today.
The Vodafone site says: Bluetooth 3.0
I just double checked and both gsmarena and phonearena say Bluetooth 2.1
I think someone has seen the SG2 and made a mistake with the 1.2GHz.
copied from wrong forum. my mistake.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 32GB (model GT-P7510)
Honeycomb 3.1 (build HMJ37.UEKF3)
purchased open box retail at local bestbuy
was unlocked when purchased
works fine
encrypted. set up. installed about a dozen apps.
storage space seems fine:
28.01 GB available - 433MB of apps - 133MB of files - 4kb fluff = 27.46GB available
however, internal memory seems busted:
Settings/Applicaitons/Running reports 171MB used and 407MB free
?407
* What do you other GT 10.1 owners show?
* Should this be a real 1024MB available?
-----------------
Over in the GT General forum, it was suggested that the memory is in use by the graphics card. It seems a bit high for the GPU to reserve 500+ MB for 12x8 scrreen, especially w/o any 3D running.
* Does anyone have data on how the Tegra 2 SOC deploys memory?
------------------
basically, I am trying to find out if I have a defective/tampered unit or not.
My galaxy tab has total RAM of 723. I know the Iconia has 724. I believe all Tegra 2 based devices are around this range give or take some compiled kernel parameters tweaked allocation ranges. You dont have a defective tab....
Its a somewhat complex topic and reserved RAM for the Geforce ULP is just a part of the amount allocated. A good google search should yeld alot of results with the same questions and answers and more details.
Hello everyone,

The I9000 (SGS Amoled with Samsung SoC) is advertised as 512Mb Smartphone, like the I9003 (SGS LCD with Texas Instrument SoC) also. The I9000 have physically 512Mb RAM in the SoC, the 9003 have 640Mb, and you can see this difference between Stock Samsung ROM in 2.3.6 and the 128 Mb make a difference with LMK usage. End of story.

Does i9003 getting official ICS? If not, than samsung is lying about the i9003
Samsung doesn't care about customers on long term stages the only interesed that you buy new deveices every year.Apple is much better at this stage they care about it that their devices are updated and users satisfided.
So If you don't like apple you can buy nexus device this device is also up to date.

Sales of i9003 are very different of i9000. And people who doesn't care to have a 9003 (SLCD, less powerful GPU, etc. etc. than i9000) mainly doesn't care to have Android 4.x instead of 2.3.x because their smartphone WORKS in 2.3.x. If you want a bleeding edge smartphone, go with the Nexus line, not a consumer line. Period.
According to the information displayed in the RAM tab of my phone's Task Manager, my GN3 has 2.38GB of RAM installed. Naturally I was expecting to see 3GB since that's what the specs advertise.
Is anyone else seeing the same thing on their GN3? I'm wondering if this is normal or not.
That is natural since some ram will be used to run the Android system and whatever else is currently running in your phone. One thing that holds true across all ram whether it is hard drives or what not is they always advertise a rounded up number. Just an fyi.

GPU is assigned a certain block of this. This is standard across all devices. You have 3 GB ram, doesn't mean apps have access to all of it.
