I'm usually good about searching the forums and finding fixes for all my problems (and I've had many) but I can't find an answer to my current problem.
I am not able to install apps unless I remove my sd card. Whatever problem I have with my sd card might also be why my titanium won't restore anything. I've tried clearing market data/cache, using a cache cleaner app to clean my sd card cache, I still can't figure out why I can't install apps. This is universal across roms (cleared data each time)
Are there any fixes I've missed? I'm gonna assume its an sd card issue....
Help!
i have seen that happen on a couple custom roms, but you can always just unmount the sd card then remount it after you do the install, then you could move the app to the sd card
I've tried to unmount through the settings and I get a force close everytime. I've tried terminal as well using umount /sdcard and it says "failed." I've also gone back to an old rom I was using and I get the same problem. The sd card thing is a workaround, but is there a solution? My last resort would be to reformat my sd card.....
Ill reformat today when I get home from work. Ill report back later :/
Either your card needs a reformat, or your card is going bad. The only other things that could cause these kinds of problems is if say, the SD slot in your phone was going bad, or some other circuitry connected to it, in which case your sole solution would be to get a replacement phone.
I was getting that then I did a backup of my contacts and did a factory reset then reloaded all my app from the market. Now all is good

Thanks! I havent had a chance to get to a pc. Im hoping a reformat will do the trick.
I figured it out! I was about to reformat my sd card and I remembered reading somewhere that the .android_secure folder causing market problems..... So I tried deleting the folder and my apps started installing again! Not sure why this would be but it worked!
SD card loose
I had the same problem and I noticed that the SD card had backed out of the slot a little. I pushed it back in and everything works fine now. I wish I had seen that before the hard reset.

I am using Fresh 1.1 and before I installed everything, I went back to RUU stock, formatted my SD card, and basically have started from scratch.
I am getting SD Card unreadable when I mount / unmount my phone.
Weirdly, I can immediately mount it again, and it is seen by my laptop.
Unmount, and I get the same damaged/unreadable error.
I am not using apps2sd, and have barely minimum on the SDcard.
I don't really want to format again, and I'm bored of taking the battery out to restart the phone, which seems to be the only way to fix this ?
Is there a cache I should delete anywhere ? Does anyone else have the same problem ?
I was getting that awhile back. Formatting the card would work for a few days and then it would mess up again. I just gave up and bought a new, bigger card.
anyone ever had their sd card stop responding and make all their apps disappear from the app drawer? I dont use apps2sd even the stock froyo because of responsiveness issues when mounting and unmounting the card. It pisses me off cuz i couldn't even read the card from my pc so i had to reformat it and consequently lose all my data... it's like it just stops being recognized by my phone and my computer all of a sudden. This has happened on numerous roms and kernels so i don't think it's software related. Is it time for a new card?
every week or so I will mount mine and give it an error check in windows just in case and since I been doing that my card hasn't given me any issues, it used to do what you described
that happend to my all the time but sometime a pull of the battery solve changed cards but it seems ist the phone i got fresh rom, but in cm7 doesnt happend to me
If you can't read it on your PC, it could certainly be a bad SD card. One program I've used to test SD cards is h2testw. It'll write data to the full capacity of the card, then verify the data it wrote. Format the card first.

Don't let the German on the site scare you -- there's an English option in the program. There are other testing tools as well, but this one has worked well for me.
After turning off my phone today and then back on it says the sd card is damaged and needs formatting. I just got this card last month. Has anyone else had this? I took the back off and put it back on so it's not the switch.
Even my pc says it needs formatting. I moved everything from to the SD with titanium. Does anyone know if that will be a problem if I format?

Your back-ups will all be gone, as will saves from emu's etc. All content that was on the sd card will be gone. If a format fixes the sd-card you can start backing things up again. apps that installed to the sd would probably have to be reïnstalled. If you format with clockworkmod you can create a sd-ext partition besides the normal partition. I believe costum roms like cm7 can use this to make apps transferred to sd run quicker.
after i boot up i get a toast notification "SD card removed" which is impossible since the sd is under the battery. i haven't touched the sd in months. anyone else have this issue or someone know how to fix it?
First thing to check is your cable. If you have a cheap cable, try the one that came with the phone ( HTC Cable ) . Cheap cables are notorious for causing all kinds of issues. Including the one you described. It has happened to me. Also, check the Micro USB port on the phone and on the PC. Make sure they're clean and dust free. If none of that works. Power off the device, remove the batt. Pull the SD Card and check it to make sure it's good. If it is load it back into the device and try it again to make sure it wasn't just loose. If after all that it still doesn't read it, you may have to reformat the card.
im confused what does the cable have to do with the phone reading the sd, few days ago my sd card just unmounted itself and hasnt been working since. i dont wanna format the card i have lots a stuff i need on it. the phone sees the sd in recovery and i can browse the sd.

I've never had this issue but you may want to try reformatting. Just copy all the contents of your sd over to your pc first, then format and copy back. It's kind of a head ache but if nothing else it's always good to have a backup... cause you never know when your card might get fried.

+1 to what Crump said. But if you do have a real HTC Cable try it. Or any other cable for that matter. Cheap cables have a tendency to fail. Which sometimes causes the card not to be read. If nothing else at least you eliminate the possibility of that being the issue. Also, it's easier than having to reformat the card.
thanks guys, it was the sd card i put in another phone (xperia arc) it read the card for about 5 mins, the arcs card was good in my shift. im formatting the card using the arc hopefully it works.
Been experiencing issues with an SD card. this is an 8GB that I was using. I normally remove the SD card from my phone and attach it to the adapter toread from the laptop's SD card reader. one of the times I did this, Windows popped up saying I needed to format the device. I put the card back into my phone, and saw that the SD card came up blank.
I put the card back into my computer and ran PhotoRec to see if I could pull any data off of it...it spit out 3000 something text files all with 2 lines each of garbled characters. I tried using TestDisk (program that comes with PhotoRec), and it says there are no Partitions on the card. I tried to format using the command line formatter, but the filesystem now shows up as RAW. I tried using the official SD Formatter tool, and it says my device is Write Protected (when it is clearly not).
I'm about lost on what to do next, as nothing seems to be working. is there something I'm missing, or am I dealing with a completely dead card?

I already tried this, but thanks for the suggestion. The problem isn't with syncing data, but moreso with not being able to properly repartition the card
At least, that's what I believe the problem would be.

Thought you might try his methods on recovering your data.
I understand. Recovering also wasn't a big issue, as I keep backups of my data every so often. My main major loss is the use of this card.
