after i boot up i get a toast notification "SD card removed" which is impossible since the sd is under the battery. i haven't touched the sd in months. anyone else have this issue or someone know how to fix it?
First thing to check is your cable. If you have a cheap cable, try the one that came with the phone ( HTC Cable ) . Cheap cables are notorious for causing all kinds of issues. Including the one you described. It has happened to me. Also, check the Micro USB port on the phone and on the PC. Make sure they're clean and dust free. If none of that works. Power off the device, remove the batt. Pull the SD Card and check it to make sure it's good. If it is load it back into the device and try it again to make sure it wasn't just loose. If after all that it still doesn't read it, you may have to reformat the card.
im confused what does the cable have to do with the phone reading the sd, few days ago my sd card just unmounted itself and hasnt been working since. i dont wanna format the card i have lots a stuff i need on it. the phone sees the sd in recovery and i can browse the sd.

I've never had this issue but you may want to try reformatting. Just copy all the contents of your sd over to your pc first, then format and copy back. It's kind of a head ache but if nothing else it's always good to have a backup... cause you never know when your card might get fried.

+1 to what Crump said. But if you do have a real HTC Cable try it. Or any other cable for that matter. Cheap cables have a tendency to fail. Which sometimes causes the card not to be read. If nothing else at least you eliminate the possibility of that being the issue. Also, it's easier than having to reformat the card.
thanks guys, it was the sd card i put in another phone (xperia arc) it read the card for about 5 mins, the arcs card was good in my shift. im formatting the card using the arc hopefully it works.

plz suggest me how to get rid of it?.what to do now...............? .
same here..
for 6 months i hadnt got any problem.. but now the phone isnt recognizing the storage card
Use one of these to format your SD-card again:
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/

I want to format it.. but I want to back up it first because I have a lot of things that I dont want to lose.. But even my pc, doesnt shows me the storage card.. doesnt recognize it, to back up it..
please help..
If even card reader on PC can't recognize contents of SD, you can probably throw away that SD...
But, for last chance, try to read it with SD reader which came with SD card (if that was a case) or on another PC...
I will try my SD card in another phone... i havent SD reader.. I havent done anything to my phone.. It was ok, when I woke up and my phone didnt recognize my SD..
I heard about a program called restoration.. search for this..
maybe this can help me?.. format my SD, and then restore my things on SD again?
sooner or later all sdcards die be sure to backup important data from your sdcard to your computer once in awhile
My experience....
I see a number of comments about this problem in the Touch HD so I will share my experiences.
My HD quit recognizing the memory card some time ago. Occasionally I could re-install a ROM and get it to function briefly. As soon as I installed programs on the card, the links would disappear and the card would become unreadable. I tried different cards, I tried new cards, I formatted the card on my PC, I ran task29 to clean ROM memory prior to installing a new ROM and I I tried the stock HTC ROM. The micro SD cards are always perfectly functional and readable on my PC and on other devices including a friend's Touch HD.
After all of this, I gave up and I now use the HD without a memory card. I have become very frugal with memory useage!
If anyone discovers a fix for this malady, your solution would be greatly appreciated.
I searched.. and the only I found is that we have, as soon as we get our new SD card, to do a FAT32.. so it will not have a lot of problemss
If the card is formatted correctly, and is recognisable in a PC and other devices, then it's more than likely to be a hardware issue.
I know, because one of my devices is also broken exactly like this. It's likely the SIM/SD Comboboard, but I've never found a supplier for spares . . anyone know of anywhere?
Hello guys,
Same problem with touch hd. tried everything mentioned. task29, different roms, other sd-cards, reformatting etc... still no luck!
hope someone is going to find a solution soon!
Greetings
disapearing micro SD
I also had the same problem some time ago when connecting to pc through USB opting for disc drive connection and not using the sync button, then solved the problem when I flashed a new ROM.
Regards,
I also have this problem.
I've had the 8GB SD Card for about a year now and untill now, its always worked without a problem.
I installed a Topix Rom this weekend. I also installed most of my programs to the storage card.
Within a day it was dropping in and out. I am able to see the card, but not run any mp3's off it.
When the card drops out, I can either take the card out and reinsert it or restart the phone and the card is visible again. It still cant play mp3s or videos though.
Anyone else having this problem since they've installed a new Rom?
Hello I'm new here, I couldn't find what i was looking for so hear i go...My sd card is not working either after about 1 year just stopped working the phone says it is not installed so is it possible to reinstall it? Thanks...
Quick update...
I tried formatting the sd card & it worked. Thanks people

yes

Spares for hardware fault
Just to add, as I said previously about my device, the SDCard reader was faulty, and HTC Europe refused to supply the part without a HTC Service Centre repair.
For anyone else having hardware issues, I managed to source the part from China, and now it's working perfectly again after a simple repair.
Here's the link; http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-simmicrousb-card-module-p-7149.html
I searched the forum, Google and whatnot. But no solution seemed to help me with this problem. About a week ago my MicroSD card dissappeard on my Touch HD. I removed the SD card, put it back in and it was there again. The next day, it happened to me again. I tried to do the same as I did before, but this wouldn't help.
I have changed the registry according to this page right here, but that didn't help either.
Now thinking it was a ROM problem, I upgraded to Miri's v15 and the problem is still there. Then again I changed the registry values. But my SD Card is still missing. Does this mean my SD card is broken? Or does anybody have an other solution that might work?
Thanks in advance!

Formatage sd Doit Etre Suffisant (FAT 32)
Seems your SD card is broken, the same happend to me some time back.
I'm not sure if you understood the non English post above, but it seems they are suggesting the same as I'm about to.
Try to format your sd card on your pc using a card reader. Format it to FAT32. If you are lucky you may still be able to retrieve the data off of it via the pc, if so back it up to your pc, format the card and then you can transfer the data back.
It does sound like those above have suggested. You'll need to format your SD Card. Make sure you backup whatever files you have on it first
I recognize the problem, I've also had this, first check your sd card for the problem, those things are very fragile...
android
Hi, thbis happend to me when i was testing android, I lst all my data but was able to repair it and get it working intermittently by reformatting it. It turned out to be the shelby ROM I was using as when I reflashed with a different ROM the problem went away, it may have been android that corrupted the driver or something but starting from scratch with a new rom and reformatted card worked for me.
Thanks for your support. Today I formatted my MicroSD card with a Nokia phone. This phone recognized my SD Card AND all of the files that where on there. Replacing my SD card with the one in the Nokia gave me the same problem. My Touch HD wouldn't recognize the SD Card. So I guess it's a problem with my Touch HD then?
Knowing that the registry edit didn't work, what else can I try? Don't really feel like flashing to a stock rom and sending it to HTC...
*bump* anyone ? My MicroSD card still isn't working
You checked for bent pins or some form of obstruction in the microsd slot? If you tried another card and same problem then it's going to be the device somehow.
I did a hard reset on my Touch HD. It works.
Searched but found no topics regarding this issue (in HD2 section and CWR).
Ive just done a backup of my ROM/SD-EXT and after rebooting its now saying my sd card is damaged and needs formatting.
Has anybody else had this issue or can shed any light on it?
No sorry m8, all worked fine on my side.

Indeed, obviously I have more then one brain cell
do your windows pc "see" the card, the partitions and the content? In the SD build days i also got corrupted SD card, but after i put it in the cardreader, windows repaired it every time automatically. just let the checkdisk run over and it should work.

It did but would read contents properly then just kept failing on everything.
tbh its quite weird, not only did the sd card report as damaged after clockwork mod but after I repaired by formatting I installed new magldr and THAT ended up ****ing cards up aswell because of the new major usbmasstorage bug.
Aswell as the SD cards it seems to have also broken 2 card readers of mine because since using the damaged cards in my readers one of them just simply wont read any cards any more and the other just keeps asking me to format every card I try, even on other machines.
i wos have same problem i was formated in win os 7 no prolems put again and work whti no problems
Thats really weird..
One last idea would be to format your sd from winmo. This way i managed to reactivate a "dead" sd card too.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
We have a T-Mobile HTC HD2, it came with a 16GB MicroSD card.
Lately, the phone is having trouble reading this SD card, and ONLY this SD card.
Any other MicroSD card I plug into it, from other phones or other devices, it reads them fine, and if I plug it's card into other phones or devices, they read the card perfectly fine as well! I tried it in other phones, in usb microsd readers, and even using a sd adapter in my laptop's built in sd reader, digital cameras, Wii, and PS3. The PS3 was the only other device that could not read the card,
But when I plug the card it came with into it, now it mounts it and works fine for about 30 seconds, then unmounts it and acts as if there is no card inserted.
We have had this phone for a year now with no problems of it reading it's own card before, any idea why this suddenly started happening? The owner said he recently dropped it, but that doesn't explain such strange behavior as refusing to read it's own card while reading every other card just fine, and the card reads on any device I plug it into so it doesn't appear to be damaged either.
Have you thougbt about tryinv to reformat your SD card, maybe it has become currupt? You can use the default windoes format software or the Panosonic software, most prefer the Panosonic software. Just do a google search for it to find it. To use the defualt Windows format software just go to Start>My Computer> and find your SD card listed as a removable drive and rigbt click on it then select format. Make sure to make a back up of your data that is on it if you can before you format it, and do a full wipe not a fast format and use Fat 32.
I tried SD Card Formatter 3.0 but it didn't help, it also refused to do a full format, claiming my card didn't support it.

Hmmmmm that program should have worked, curiouse?
Here is a link to the download for the Panosonic SD card formating software. Give it a try and if it does not work hour SD card may have just played out on you. What for others here to post with more advice tough befor you just toss your card and get a new one as someone eles may know something I Don't. Also go to this post, I know you have not flashed WP7 to your HD2 but this may still help as it will wipe any acidental portition that was made somehow on your SD card. Plus itcjist helps hou cover all your bases.

Thats what I used.
Also, I know about partitioning a drive, the sdcard does not have multiple partitions on it.

Sorry about that I just googled " SD Card Formatter 3.0" and it carried me to another site.
As I said in my last post I just linked the post to make sure you were covering your bases.
If you tried the Panisomic software with no joy then it is very possible your SD card is ready for a funeral.
Bit don't just take my word for it let some more members post with their ideas. Sorry I could not be of any more help.
I understand that MAGLDR's USB Mass Storage isn't most people's first choice, and that it can be flaky at times, but I've used it without problems in the past.
However, the last time I used it, installing drivers took an abnormally long time, and I just canceled USB Mass Storage and went back to the menu. However after that, the SD Card is complete unrecognized in the phone, and when using an adapter plugged in to the computer directly, it tells me the SD Card cannot start.
It looks like the controller on the card is damaged. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this occurrence. I honestly think it's more likely that the controller breaking was the cause, not the effect. Perhaps that's why it was taking so long to install drivers?
damaged/faulty SD Card readers do happen, have you tries to delete the partitions and reformating the SD Card.
I have lost 2 cards with my HD2 and am currently on the 3rd, I have no explanation but thats the wat it is

Format your sd card using Panasonic sdformatter 3.0.
