After turning off my phone today and then back on it says the sd card is damaged and needs formatting. I just got this card last month. Has anyone else had this? I took the back off and put it back on so it's not the switch.
Even my pc says it needs formatting. I moved everything from to the SD with titanium. Does anyone know if that will be a problem if I format?

Your back-ups will all be gone, as will saves from emu's etc. All content that was on the sd card will be gone. If a format fixes the sd-card you can start backing things up again. apps that installed to the sd would probably have to be reïnstalled. If you format with clockworkmod you can create a sd-ext partition besides the normal partition. I believe costum roms like cm7 can use this to make apps transferred to sd run quicker.

I'm usually good about searching the forums and finding fixes for all my problems (and I've had many) but I can't find an answer to my current problem.
I am not able to install apps unless I remove my sd card. Whatever problem I have with my sd card might also be why my titanium won't restore anything. I've tried clearing market data/cache, using a cache cleaner app to clean my sd card cache, I still can't figure out why I can't install apps. This is universal across roms (cleared data each time)
Are there any fixes I've missed? I'm gonna assume its an sd card issue....
Help!
i have seen that happen on a couple custom roms, but you can always just unmount the sd card then remount it after you do the install, then you could move the app to the sd card
I've tried to unmount through the settings and I get a force close everytime. I've tried terminal as well using umount /sdcard and it says "failed." I've also gone back to an old rom I was using and I get the same problem. The sd card thing is a workaround, but is there a solution? My last resort would be to reformat my sd card.....
Ill reformat today when I get home from work. Ill report back later :/
Either your card needs a reformat, or your card is going bad. The only other things that could cause these kinds of problems is if say, the SD slot in your phone was going bad, or some other circuitry connected to it, in which case your sole solution would be to get a replacement phone.
I was getting that then I did a backup of my contacts and did a factory reset then reloaded all my app from the market. Now all is good

Thanks! I havent had a chance to get to a pc. Im hoping a reformat will do the trick.
I figured it out! I was about to reformat my sd card and I remembered reading somewhere that the .android_secure folder causing market problems..... So I tried deleting the folder and my apps started installing again! Not sure why this would be but it worked!
SD card loose
I had the same problem and I noticed that the SD card had backed out of the slot a little. I pushed it back in and everything works fine now. I wish I had seen that before the hard reset.
Hey guys. I'm currently running this ROM, I've been using it for a few days and have had no problems but today, when I turned the phone off and turned it back on, it took ages to turn back on. Then when it did it all looked them same but was kept freezing etc., then up in the notification bar it said "SD Card Removed Unexpectedly" then my phone went crazy with FC's.
So I took out the battery and restarted the phone. Then, it would turn on and go to the lock screen but then it would reboot and be at a continuius* boot loop of the HTC 'Quietly Brilliant' screen.
So then I took out the battery again, this time I took out the SD card too and booted up and my phone was normal again. Obviously with no phone storage though as there was SD card in. Then after I just skipped the setup I put my SD card back in to my phone and went to the music player and all my saved songs on my SD card played. But no internal storage (I have the SD card partitioned with a 1GB Ext3 partition). Then with the SD card in knowing it still works I rebooted again, only to come back to the HTC screen again.
So basically, how can I fix this?
If I'm going to need to format my SD card is there a way I can backup what's in the Ext3 partition?
Thanks,
L.
Bump. Need to be able to use my phone properly again urgently. Thanks.

It sounds like something is really funky (faulty hardware?) with either your SD card or your phone. You could try reformatting it with that Panasonic tool...
You can backup your SD-EXT partition with CWM/CWR. You can boot CWM from MAGLDR without flashing anything. Just put zImage and initrd.gz from the CWM download on the root of your SD card and boot "AD SD" from MAGLDR.

Thanks for the reply. It's not the phone as I have a 2GB SD card in it right now but that's not big enough.
Yeah I have a problem with CWM, when I click AD SD it says some Kernel error thing.
Is there any other way to find the files in my Ext partition using my computer?

Unfortunately not that I am aware of. Where are the CWM files located on your SD card? Are they on the root or in a subfolder? Did you modify the path MAGLDR looks for the "AD SD" path? Are you using the latest CWM release?
Yep they're on the root of it. I think it's 1.12 I have ATM. How do I modify the path? :S
Nevermind. I tried re-installing and it worked on my 2GB SD. But the thing is, the files I want are on my 16GB that won't read lol. I'll try flash it on that now.
Tried to flash my 16GB. Says SD Kernel Open Failed in red letters? Works with my other SD card though? :S
Now I just tried with my 2GB and it's saying the same thing again.
I've a strange problem with my hd2.
all files on SD card or EXT can't be deleted. after deleting it then boot it returns again. i tried formatting SC card and formatting also phone memory with task29 but again all files returned.
is there any program or any software can help me to format my Phone and delete all files?

Android creates a lot of stuff on the SD card, as long as the SD card is in the phone and the phone is being used you will have some files on your SD. If you format the card outside of the phone (e.g. with a card reader on a PC) you'll be able to delete everything, but as soon as you use it in the phone stuff will appear on the card again. In the EXT partition this will often be apps if you have an EU HD2 as there's not much internal storage. To be honest, it shouldn't be much of an issue at all seeing as normally these things don't take up much storage at all.

thanks for reply.
the problem is that i can't update any file or even install any new rom on my phone. after restart every thing return to the last step. adding any file or software will be removed after restart.it seams that the phone is freeze on its last image. i want to format it and install new rom
I'd removed the sd crad from mobile and tried to format it on PC. but it said that the sd card is write protected.
who can i format it?
So I have a backup saved on my device and all roms saved internally..That's eating a lot of space.
Sometimes I may want to format the phone when things go wrong and want to be able to install via my SD card (plus save room). When I first rooted, that caused a major headache. I have a 128gb SD card, yet it shows 0mb when selected in TWRP. Do I have to format it a certain way?

Have you mounted the sd card in TWRP? If it is, then unmount and try mounting it again. If that doesn't work then you might have to reformat the card

To what format? I formatted it to the default thinking it was corrupted but it never was able to be read. And no it can't be mounted because it's like it's not even in.. When the phone's on though it's read perfectly

Maybe try flashing a fresh version of TWRP? What version are you using? It should be able to read it if your phone reads it. Is it in exFAT format?
Hi I wanted to clean the cache partition from stock recovery but accidentally factory reseted my Nokia 6.
The SD Card was formatted as internal storage and now the phone does not recognise it and all the data is stored in there with no access and yes it is not accessible from any computer.
So is there a way to recover those data?
Happened to me last year. I tried a lot of things and lot of searching but sadly, nothing could help me recover the SD or the data. I had to get a new SD card.

New SD Card isn't the problem the problem is the files within the SD Card. There are some very important files in there.
I have found something (or so) a software called Disk Drill it is a paid software but haven't tried it. Don't know if it works or not
