I was having some MMS problems, and in the midst of my troubleshooting, I clicked on "Uninstall Updates" for my Messaging application. Does anyone know of a way to get these updates back? I tried re-flashing the 2.3.1 update, but I still don't have the option to "Uninstall Updates."
My Messaging app currently says it's version 2.3.1. Can someone please tell me if you have a more up-to-date version, and if you have an option to "Uninstall Updates" for the app? I'm wondering if maybe the "Uninstall Updates" option was there as a result of my troubleshooting and isn't regularly there. Thanks!

I don't have the option...Nexus S 2.3.1 stock rooted.

Thanks guys. I definitely had the option for the stock app, but it may have been the result of me messing around with some other mms.apk files.

Yes, that is why. It thought your other mms.apk was an update and or had higher version, you uninstalled that "update" and is now back to the original mms.apk that is stored in the /system/app folder in the ROM.

There are two apps in the Play Store which are constantly under "My Apps" which say they have updates: Songza and Skype. Whenever I click update on either app a notification pops up saying "Application already exists." I have tried uninstalling both apps and reinstalling but it doesn't fix it. Can someone help me out?

How can I, or can I, update to the new Gmail 4.7.2?
I followed the app in the xda thread, http://d-h.st/pXI
Can I download and flash without any issues?
I currently have Gmail 4.5.2 on Slimbean 4.3build 2.2 Official.
Thanks for any and all feedback.
Why do you have to flash anything? It's just an apk file. Just install like any other Android app.

I did try to instal but I got an error message stating even though these files are named the same they have different signatures and installation has stopped.
What does this mean exactly?
You can either open up the Play Store and check for updates to your apps because at this point in time the update should be showing up for everyone. Second choice is to uninstall and then install with the new apk.

I did try to update it through play. It went all the to downloading and stopped during the installation with the message :"Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again".
This is why I went to download and intsall. But that route too is not working out for me.
There is no "uninstall" option for Gmail??
I'm stumped on where to go next?
Thoughts if you please??
Try using Titanium Backup to uninstall Gmail and install again from Market.

Awesome, worked like a charm!! :good:
Much thanks, greatly appreciated.
Am using Gmail v4.6 on Android 4.2.2 (rooted). Looking for an older version of the Gmail app that did not have "conversation view" or had the option to disable it. I found v4.0.5 and downloaded it but can't figure out if it has the option to disable conversation view. I think I'll install it later and give it a try.
But if anyone has an older APK I would appreciate it. Thanks.
After freezing the current version of Gmail using Titanium, I installed the 4.0.5 APK using ES Explorer but it says "x Application not installed". Did not work. Not sure why.
Realized I need to uninstall the previous version before installing the new version. I guess "freezing" doesn't cut it. Anyway tried 4.0.5 and also 2.2 and both still have "conversation view" that can't be disabled. Guess I'm going back to K9 for e-mail. Hate conversation view.
I understand that when you do an OTA update while rooted and/or have a custom recovery, it breaks the phone. As some of you may or may not know, Verizon has released a knew update to prepare for XLTE. I want to know how to get rid of this notification. Is there any way?

Yes, it's there and I disabled it but again, there is no update from AT&T so I can't verify that option works or not.
Maybe, freezing it using TB will add another layer of security? or maybe it's over-killed.

I don't see anything in Titanium that resembles anything from that list. I have a Verizon phone: and its very different.
I still very much would like someone who knows something about Verizon phones to help me!
I don't have Titanium, but I was able to freeze and eliminate the notification by Force Stoping System Update, clearing the Cache, then using ES File Explorer to rename /system/app/LGDMSClient.apk to LGDMSClient.apk.bak no more nag!
Hey guys. I recently updated my phone, and to my surprise, Facebook was installed. I remember uninstalling it before applying the update. When I go into settings and check the version, it says "version stub". What does that mean? Also, "Uninstall" is no longer an option. Now, I can only "disable/enable" or "force stop" it. Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks for the reponses.

Only thing I could find was someone on Reddit asking about the same thing.
It's most likely a carrier push (probably Samsung including it in the update and carrier leaving it in, like when they include other bloatware when they make the OS).
You should be able to get rid of it with Root, if you don't use FB, it's probably going to make more sense to just delete any shortcuts and not touch it than to root though.
Yeah theyre system apps.
you can delete or freeze it if your rooted, not sure about a unrooted method tho.
There are actually 3 apks for FB for some reason
/system/app/Facebook_stub/
/system/app/FBAppManager_NS/
/system/priv-app/FBInstaller_NS/
