Talked to t-mobile claimed it was an incorrect setting on my line mind you the tech support hung up on me the first time, and the second guy didn't even know what my phone was let alone the fact that they actually did over there air updates..... Just gonna delete it I guess.

What are you guys deleting? The DRM apk? I never seen that message until I flashed Nero3 yesterday.
same here
the message started popping up after i installed nero v3
I'm running stock ji6 and its happening. Its not the nero rom
Sent from my vibrant
It has been going on since yesterday for me
Its been just running all the time in running services with all the 2.2 leaks I've installed. It never updated anything you just could never stop it from running im sure its a know issue, now with the ji6 roms you can end it but not in 2.2 for some reason.

i think the dm (device manager) server must be wonky lately. This service starts up by default, but is usually invisible (except when you check what services are runnin), but lately i have seen a notification icon on the notification bar saying that it is trying to connect.
Dunno what it does. Probably sends demographic and activity info back to t-mobile and google
easy. tmobile is obviously testing for device responses to the dm server so that they know how many vibrant users there are. this will determine the length of time between the beginning of mass froyo release and the end of the rollout.
damn. now "rollout" by ludacris is stuck in my head lol
Yea Device Management(DM) is used to push updates to Tmo's android phones. I've also seen it been used by tech support to manually push the update or reboot the phone(Back when I had the Behold II).
I would have thought the rom makers would have removed them from their images.
But gallagherm1993's idea sounds reasonable, but I would say if you aren't seeing these things(Like myself) dont worry bout it. For the curious, you can use AnyCut to access DM's interface, and force an update check, but unless its been marked ready for your IMEI, it wont work.

I'm having a serious issue with the market and I have not been able to find any solutions. No matter what I do, applications will not download. I've wiped cache, dalvik cache, even a factory reset or three and nothing. So I odined back to stock di18 and it still won't download anything. Anyone have any ideas?

Same problem here. Tried downloading an update, and says "Download Unsuccessful" in the notification bar.
I have 2 friends that have the epic 4g and are having the same issue! I rooted the phone for them using the one click root 2.4 and upgrade both to froyo 4.2 beta! I cant say if they had this issue before or not, but they definitly have it now.
Problem: open market try to download any app, it will say that it will download shortly and show briefly in the notification window but then just goes away and never downloads.
I have try connected and disconnected from wifi. Problem still exsist.

I think the Market just sucks at notifying you. Its never been very good at notifying on my G1, mytouch slide, or the Vibrant, so its gotta be the Market.
I thought so too, but notifications work perfectly on my rooted Nook.

I've tried that before with no luck. What's really weird is that my market cache is always 0.0kb in size as well.
I wonder if I have an app or something that is blocking it. Right before I installed Bionix 1.3 I formatted my internal sd (just because I had never done so) and I received market notifications then and thought that maybe it was just clutter. But the issue is back. Super weird.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I also don't receive update notifications until I open my market. I just let programs update automatically, and check it every once in a while for manual updates due to apps requesting new permissions.

I think its a market issue. Its hit or miss for me. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I dont.
I don't know if this is a 2.2 issue or not but ever since i updated, my market has been acting iffy...along with a few other samsung widgets. I don't know if it's a server issue or something with 2.2 on our phones but i know a few people that started having that problem as soon as they updated to 2.2.
Same market issue here, hardly ever get notifications on updates. However whenever I open market all the notifications come up
I'm with everyone else, I don't think I've ever gotten notifications before. My gf's phone doesn't get hers either and shes using a MyTouch Slide. I do get notifications right after I close the Market, but never before.
I think its purely a market issue.

It worked perfectly on android 1.1 with the G1 back then, but since 1.5 its been hit or miss .... guess its been over looked by the OEM, when putting together roms for their devices ... Or it can just be an issue with google's servers .. I just made it a habit to check every day for updates ..
Mine works it seems to work every 3-4 days on notifying me. But, it hangs in the download so I end up doing manual update.
This method go to Market> type find updates or update apps then it seems to find them
The auto update is kinda flaky and unreliable
What's weird about it, at least to me, is that it works perfect on my rooted nook and with the honeycomb demo for my nook. At least I'm not the only SGS owner with issues.

Wait... you think this is a bug/bad thing?
OMG I'd be thrilled to never receive market update notifications, instead, I have to manually kill the service every reboot (even with "do not notify me" set) and often uninstall unwanted updates from my themed apps in /system/app until I have time to theme them.
Royal pain, I'd love to never have updates, lol.

Gamegripper as in the ROM finder app? I have it installed on my phone but you're right, it's no longer on the market. As for the n64 emulator, it was removed due to the dev taking it down to re-release it at a later time (after most bug fixes) due to negative feedback.
It does appear that Google is removing these apps due to piracy of ROMs, though.
EDIT: Spelt 'but" wrong. haha

Good idea. My opinion is definitely invest in root explorer. It lets you navigate directly to the data/app folder and you can copy+paste the apk to your SD. Plus it has a remount rw/ro button that beats the hell out of using terminal emulator to do it.

So my phone is running hktw 2.3.4 fyi. Just got in the car to head home from work when my atrix shows the orange triangle caution notification icon. So I see what it is and it says "Enable Wifi to start download update". Figured blah blah its not good to download since I've read other people not being able to download. I'm sitting in traffic and decide screw it and turn on wifi tethering with my streak. Connect with my atrix and after little bit the update begins downloading. Random I know! Of course it its going slow as ****. As I'm finishing this post it is at 11 percent. Gonna be home soon so I'll connect to my wifi and get it quicker. Anybody else getting this update now. And that he get's the update notification again, correct? I don't recall seeing that before. I thought it was notification, fail, done.
I am currently running EH06, stock/deodexed and am experiencing seemingly random reboots. I was curious to see if this issue is memory leak related, and from general RAM checking, I believe it may be. Of my available 342 MB of ram, RIGHT NOW my phone reports 241 MB taken up, I have seen that value getting up into the low 300's at it's peak, and unfortunately I haven't seen it immediately preceding a reboot.
I decided to check the memory usage from the command line, and when I run 'free' via the bash shell, of the 350400 KB (342MB) of potential RAM - which matches nicely with what the phone is reporting - I am being told I in fact have 321 MB of RAM taken up. Now I'm no Linux/Android guru, but that doesn't seem right.
So I opened up a bunch of apps, visited a couple of websites, backed out to the home screen and rechecked my numbers. I am now at 302MB/342MB according to the task manager app, but 338MB/342MB according to 'free'. Using the 'Clear Ram' button, I was able to knock it back down, but I have seen it in the past few days not drop the used RAM amount upon pressing that button...
I'm experincing similar problems , it seems every day I need to do a reeboot to keep my ram usage down cause when I first boot , let everything load ... then kill tasks I have around 180 free but after about a day when I kill tasks I have around 80 free and I need to reboot for peace of mind I don't know what it is but I hope I get fixed ....

People have had mixed results with the 3G Turbocharger script and KickAssKernel scripts. The V6 script is the one many are reporting helps with the RAM leak. I used oprion #9 MegaRAM2. This is the lastest script. You need to get Script Manager from Market. Select "run as root" then "run". http://db.tt/oUYakOc

In the world of software, there is NO random, everything has a cause. We call things random when we haven't defined the problem's pattern.
So check it out , I instaled the new eh06 plus kernel without really getting an answer as to what a kernel was and it seems to have helped I haven't been on it for 24 hours yet but I will update and let you know

The paid "Full" version of Memory Booster allows to to set (raise) the minimum RAM threshold supposedly. I just got it and will see if I change it and install and run a bunch of apps if it prevents the reboots. Huh, I got the "Full" version but the minimum RAM threshold is set in the MB RAM Optimizer app. I will change it from 15% to 35% and see if it stops reboots tonight.

I've been getting these "random" reboots with all of the GB leaks. Been looking at my logcat but I can't make heads or tails out of what the messages mean. Currently using catlog for the logcat reader, never seen anything under the lowest level "what a terrible failure" but get tons of stuff under the next level up "error".
currently running eg22.
Would love a thread detailing how to do anything with this that might help figure out what's causing these issues.

Great John, let us know. The free version is great for seeing what is REALLY using your memory. Not the little bit the stock task manager kills. Apps are constantly loading in the background even if you haven't used them in months. If you go to Task Killer in Memory Booster Lite you will see this "ninja" apps stealing your memory. This is what people keep calling memory leaks. They are real apps loading.

ive been running stock odex eh06 since it first leaked on samfirmware and i never had a random reboot
but i am seeing memory problems. such as maps running using a whole 6MB of ram. Think, 10 years ago, that wouldve took a supercomputer. Why are these apps running even when i dont launch them?
such as engadget, maps, telenav, THREE DIALERS TAKING UP 11MB EACH WTF I THOUGHT THERE WAS ONLY ONE DIALER. anyways yeah i usually have ~100mb free but still. when i CLOSE an app, it should CLOSE. I also shouldnt see the app UNLESS I LAUNCH IT.
