First off, I take no credit for this other than posting the link. I began using this kitchen back in my Htc Hero days and have watched it get better and better.
I've already made a circle battery for my Evo so I know that at least that much works. Make sure you follow and read the directions. It only takes a few minutes.
There's much more available including different types of custom icon packs, boot animations and more.
One more thing, make sure you take note that this will work on factory rooted roms as long as they're deodexed. I haven't tested it on roms such as Cyanogen but I think it works for that as well. It's continually growing!
I hope this helps some of you. I really like it.

This has been out for quite some time. If anyone has software version 3.70 do not use this link to make themes. there is no compatible theme kitchen yet for 3.70.
I have 3.70 and haven't had problems.

You are the only one, LOL... unless they updated the kitchen recently(like in the last day or so) Look through all the threads of 3.70 based roms, people are experiencing continuous boot loops trying to install themes created from earlier software versions when trying to flash them on 3.70 phones.
Proceed at your own risk.
Well as I originally mentioned, I've only used it for to make a custom circle battery and that has worked with no problems.

Maybe that might work, but what happens is that the 3.70 framework is different than all previous versions so when the zip that gets created out of the theme kitchen gets flashed back into your phone it runs the risk of messing things up. Many folks have had a lot of problems with it. Even RicSim78 who uses the kitchen for all his custom roms has not added a theme to his newest 3.70 release because it would cause problems. Maybe the battery indicator is in the same place as the old version and thats why it does not create problems for you but I can assure you that changing other things will eventually get you stuck in a boot loop.
That is until the kitchen is updated to support 3.70 framework.

I used the online kitchen to cook in an "I" super circle battery mod and the "world" start animation. Worked like a charm.

Hello All,
as you can see from the title im a no0b ad Rooting the CDMA, while i have rooted and updated the ROM, i had a few questions the first rom that i have Found was the Fresh 1.1 Rom, I have since found the modaco ROM,
is there any major difference,
Also I cant seem to Update the Themes VIA "update.Zip" as it freezes so im assuming the themes i find are for different ROM builds.
Anyone that can toss me into the right Direction would greatly be thanked

you need to be really carefull where you are getting the themes from if you mess up and flash something for a GSM hero onto your phone it will brick it. I dont know where you are getting them from but I would make sure you stay in this sub forum untill you really have a grip on whats going on.
and if you are getting them from this forum then they may not be made for the rom that you are using.
do a search for metamorph its the easiest way to theme your phone if your new.

they are both great ROMs but my personal tase goes to the Fresh ROMs I think more than anything it comes down to 2 things
1: I like the rosie in Fresh compared to the stock one in MoDaCo
2: I like the fact that Flipz has removed a lot of the bloatware thats in the stock ROm where the MoDaCo ROM leaves everything in there along with adding some programs in. the only things I pushed back to Fresh where peep, IM, Sprint TV, and location service.
on top of that I have now added MoDaCo's custom kernel 1.1 and things seem much faster but who knows could be the placibo effect. and I have moded a lot of the fresh APKs. Changing the Dialer Changing the icons to the 2.1 icons added one of Noj's lockscreens and so on and so forth so I have really personalized Fresh Rom and its kinda hard to move away from that.
Hi guys,
Lately I have been developing a kitchen to help ordinary people learn how to build their own ROM on HTC-based Android devices. It allows you to do basic things such as rooting a shipped ROM, adding apps2sd, modifying the task killer memory threshold, etc.
Today I added some settings to make it work for the Droid Eris, but I am unable to test it, as I don't have an Eris.
Here is the link to the kitchen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
Please try it out if you can, and let me know if it works
Before flashing any ROM from the kitchen, please make a Nandroid backup first of your existing ROM!
Thank you, and enjoy!
I will cook a rom with your kitchen and test it on my Eris. Thank you for your work.
Will update with results.
UPDATE!
kitchen mostly works, the roms build and they flash onto the phone. had a few problems with setting task management, then tried option 14 and 15 with a few errors as well, so i just skipped that and just did a very basic rom build. so the core of the kitchen works and you can build roms, the issues i am having could be with my setup or it could be that DSIXDA was unable to test it before releasing, but for an untested kitchen it is FANTASTIC!

what from the first two posts made you think this?
because i was reading that with this we can make a rom that doesnt belong on our phone and make it to where it can go on our phone. soo if we get a rom that can be over clocked will that work
Thank you!! Of course I am damned by the leak but I feel a root coming on and this will really come in handy...

I don't believe you would be able to make a ROM that have the capabilities to OC. With all these current ROMS that have been made by competent cooks, yet none of them OC. But hey, you might be able to and prove me wrong. Which I do hope you can. But I have read from a few forums that OC is not that possible.
We don't have the source for 2.1 for our phone. When we do then OC'ing will be possible. That won't be released until hopefully with or shortly after official 2.1 OTA is released from Verizon.
Thanks!
Probably won't be cooking as much as fiddling with ROMs to suit my own ideals of them, but this seems like it might open the doors to a lot more people.
Just tried porting the DarchDroid ROM:

Everything was successful and I got a signed ROM, but it wouldn't boot. Just got stuck on splash. Tried doing logcat too but nothing showed up.

Yesterday there wasn't any Droid Eris support, that's why it wasn't working yesterday. I had to modify the kernel build command a bit for the Eris. Actually, now that I think about it, the code from yesterday should still work, as it correctly figured out the kernel's base address.
I'll dig into it a bit more...

Basically the kernel's physical base address and the WiFi module. There are a few minor things as well. I did not port an Eris ROM myself when I had the Hero, but this is what people have told me.

thanks!
Have you tried obtaining the Java package with the sudo command? Unfortunately I have not tried the 64 bit method, nor have I been asked about it before. If you find a way please let us know.
If you guys are still having problems with the cooked ROM not booting, then I'll ask some of the experienced Eris cooks around here for help.

I will try cooking a new ROM right now. No porting or anything, just a cooked ROM from the original 2.1 root with some apps removed so I know it is different.
Updating in a few...
I'm working on a ROM right now using your kitchen. I just recently came across your kitchen while searching the forums. I am using version v0.38 and I'm assuming eris support is on v0.39, correct? Should I just extract the the files into the same directory that I have been using for v0.38?
I'll let you know when I sign and try to flash if it works. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Is there a circle battery indicator that shows percentage left or just a regular battery that shows percentage left? I want to use it with a sense 2.1 rom. Ive seen some for froyo and am hesitant to use it. Thanks

Thanks for the replies, however i do not want to reflash a new rom so im probably just going to go with that zip file. So steven, does it only go in 10% increments or any number? And are there absolutely no issues with it? Is it in sync with what setcpu says the battery level is it? Theres a ton of uploaded zip files throughout the thread, which one do you use? Thanks

Which Rom are you using? If your phone is rooted, I remember I flashed a circle battery mod once for 2.1 that went up and down in increments of 1% .. this is when I was running Villainrom 12
EDIT: I did some searching for you, for VR 12 I flashed the cd_battery_circle.zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7477040&postcount=51 .. give it a go .. remember Nandroid backup in case you dont like it, or its not compatible ..
Greetings walkinhotdog,
On checking the framework.apk back up i have the images go up 1% at a time,
I have never had a issue with this,
I only have a backup of the framework.apk as my mate and i also make some custom images that were a nightmare to get working.
But with the Circle battery i just flashed the update.zip and it worked grand.
nijnvy & Steven_belfast. Thank you guys so much. Im running Kimera2.1 and flashed the CronosDroid zip file and its looking great so far. Hopefully no conflicts. The Cronos and Villain versions look pretty much the same in the screenshots so i jus randomly picked one to flash. I really appreciate the help
Well the cronosdroid one was stuck at 100% forever, so i flashed the villain one on top of it. works like a charm now
Greetings,
Nice to know its working well for you,
Mite have to reflash mine as now on Sengle 0.7 2.2 with sense,
I flashed Evil D's Virtuous Gingerbread Sense 3.0 ROM, and after a while I noticed that my 3G was very unreliable and my 4G never worked (at least the icon never showed).
I then recovered back to my CM7 backup, but the problem was still there. My 3G almost never worked and my 4G didn't show up. So then I wiped again and installed a clean CM7, and still no luck.
I have never flashed a new radio, and my data was working fine before installing the Sense 3.0 ROM. I'm not sure what the problem is. Now my 3G seems to be working fine, but it never goes to 4G anymore.
Oh man I'm not losing it!!! Same thing happened to me. Atleast it sounds the same. Even when I went back to royalginger the problem existed. I had the old radio and so I flashed the new radio and the problem immediately went away.
Just check the Dev section stickies for the radio sticky. And download the latest one. It should already be named PD15IMG.zip but rename it if its not. Then mount phone to computer and put that file on the root of your SD. Then turn off your phone and then boot into the bootloader by holding volume down + power. It will boot up and automatically read that file on your SD and ask if you want to update. Just follow the steps and then reboot your phone once its done. It worked for me, hopefully it works for you!

If sense 3.0 messed up the Radio file, the problem will follow even after you switch ROMs. The radio file isn't a member of the ROM.
You should be able to flash a new Radio file and bring it back up to speed.
I had something similar happen to me and my wife when i put S3.0 on our phones. I flashed the newest radio and have not looked back.

Alright, thanks for the input.. But... It doesn't say you won't have 3G or 4G if you don't update your radio, and it doesn't say that Sense 3.0 will mess up your radio. So how are we supposed to know that one line about performance after mention of a Boot.img is Evil telling us all that not updating our radio will eff up our data? Actually it is in the [OP] of Sense 3.0.
it doesn't bother me. We are hear to help each other out to make the Android experience a top notch one. But When the lack of reading happens threads like this one pop up. People see that ROM _________ got updated from 1.a to 1.b and they instantaneously think "OMGWFTFBBQ I NEED THIS ROM" and they do not read the update log. That's all. Alot of the senor members preach "read read read read" and very few do it. That's all.
And the reason i come off as being brass is pretty simple. I [we] can hold your [anyones] hand and lead you down the path to your end result. But if you do a little of the work and kinda get pushed down the path, you [people in general] will remember more.
I read the entire thread probably twice before flashing sense because it was the only rom I had ever tried besides CM. It says to update the radio and that may have been the problem, but the problem persisted even after wiping and putting a new rom. If the problem only happened while using sense, then I would know that maybe I forgot to do something, but since it continued even after reverting back to CM, I thought maybe something else was wrong. I started to think that it was coincidence and my phone's radio hardware was malfunctioning.

thanks for the post but it would be nice if you could link the page where you got this from so that we could see the change log...otherwise this isnt verymuch use to most of us since we don't know if the rom we are all currently using is "better" if you will than this version of redpill...cheers

This is a renamed zip as far as the modification dates within the zips say and also according to posts above >__>
Although it says v3 in the build, it is actually v4, he's been very busy and hasn't posted a change log as of yet. He's also working on a service pack that will change a few things on the current build (v4)
Can anyone comment on how stable this ROM is in comparison to Aura, Alien or CM7??

Very stable, I have not had any issues at all with this ROM, Dorian did a great job.
Probably the most stable of the ROM's I've tried, which is all of them practically.
FIRST OFF I'M SORRY guys lol I was tired when I posted it and forgot some details---first off this is version 4 of Dorian's Red Pill, even tho it says version 3 in the info after you install the ROM. It comes with the stock kernel and is very stable. Everything works to my knowledge, and it comes slightly themed. Here's a link to where he posted it ----it's about 3/4 of the way down the page---http://www.atrixforums.com/forum/motorola-atrix-roms/3282-rom-redpill-beta-v3-7-23-a-90.html#post60301
I've used the first 3 versions and LOVE IT. I get great battery life and a snappy response. check it out =D
Edit: nevermind, found the altered files, including -
BlurCamera.apk
BlurDialer.apk
DeskClock.apk
SystemUI.apk
Talk.apk
Blur-res.apk
framework-res.apk
....uhh....Dude this is a 4th version. Go to the link I just linked above, Dorian is the one who POSTED the 4th version up. Not someone else. And he IS the dev. Not sure why yer so mad, we aren't the first to flash this. Others have already started flashing v4, and it IS different than v3. Read the replies and on the next page you can see some more.

NP , yeh I'm sure everyone else was a little confused why he didn't update his main page as well. ALSO, for all those who flash this---just an fyi you can skip the blur setup by choosing GoLauncher instead of setup when the options first come up on your first bootup. The reason I mention this is cause there is no option built into the ROM to skip the blur setup, so this lets you do that. Then just freeze Accounts after yer done doing whatever account stuff you wanna do and adding your google account. Or don't freeze it, I just did cause i'm a freezeaholic.
FIX FOR THE NO HOME/SEARCH BUTTONS:
I found it in this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027994
What I did to fix my button problem, was:
Code:
1. Cleared defaults for my launcher, so upon reboot it would give me the choice to go to the motoblur setup I oh-so-hate again.
2. When the setup launched, I pressed the key combo (?123 - ALT - ABC - e - ?123 - ALT - ABC - e - b - l - u - r - o - f - f - ENTER/RETURN)
3. If the code didn't work, try again and hit return this time ;-)
4. The setup should now fc and you should never see it again =]
Enjoy =]
Would this be good for international versions?

I'm in the UK and I use it (with faux's 0.1.7 kernel mind).
