HSDPA in Vista

I must have taken my dumb pills today... is it just me or can anyone else NOT use their HSDPA modem on the shift in Vista? I can not seem to get it to work! Does anyone know how to enable it or configure it? It works perfect in WM mode just not vista!

Erm... it works for me... if no wifi signal is available, it switches to HSDPA. Posting this from work using it now. No enabling or configuring required.

oh yes ur right...if i turn my wifi off it works fine...it must have been looking for a signal the whole time and not switching to hsdpa

Which Method do you use to Connect to the Internet?

Nothing to gain here except idle curiosity.
For connecting to the Internet, be that to have my mail forwarded, having programs update their information or just general surfing ~ which method do you use to connect?
Myself, even though at home I could quite easily connect to my home network or at work use the Hospital's server, I still prefer to use my Mobile Account [T-Mobile in my case].
However, I notice in several other topics that members mention they use wireless as opposed to their sim card's network.
Is there a particular reason in changing from one to the other?
I personally do not have a valid reason to opt in and out of different connection methods and simply let the machine connect to the phone network whenever it wants.
So... there's my curiosity released. Would anyone wish to share their method of choice!

I'm connected to the internet via HSDPA 24/7. Only if I need sth really fast I use my W-LAN connection.

I use HSDPA/3G when im outside. When im at home i use wifi/w-lan.

At street or office I'm connected to the internet via HSDPA, at home via Wifi or usb.

Wifi at home. HSDPA outside.
But HSDPA seems to never want to switch off even though I have a good wifi connection. Urgh.

The combination HSDPA + O² + germany = Not stable
Haven´t you noticed these HSDPA lags? They aren´t the result of bad connection, they are the result of line drop or as O² called it - sleeping connection. I have confirmations from many major german cities.

I know that, but I encounter these lags only in a few areas. Where I usually go I don't have any problems at all with HSDPA. In fact I had more problems with HSDPA on my old Hermes than on my new Blackstone.

How could that b? when u switch on wifi, it will off the hsdpa and switch to wifi instead, isnt it? mine one does that tho. how can u use hsdpa and wifi at da same time???

Can you tell me which town or area? Here or on ppc-welt?

I don't know. It's a bit annoying as I don't want the HSDPA on when I am using Wifi.

HSDPA is automatically off when u turn on wifi. i think u misunderstand sumthing.

On most networks HSDPA never disconnects, so if you then go and connect to wifi the HSDPA will remain connected, just unused. You can check this with the HD's title bar icons.
Doesn't make any difference though, HSDPA being "connected" means nothing really. It's little different from your phone being on and registered to the mobile network.

BTW, if u tap on the title bar as u said, u can disconnect the HSDPA directly from there!

I use Edge all the time since I'm on T-Mobile USA. In fact, I'm posting this message via Edge while I'm waiting to renew my license. I only use WiFi when I have to d/l any files. I'm pretty happy with Edge speeds where I live, commute and work.

Hmm. Thanks for that. I just don't want it to try and be clever and increase my wifi speed by using a bit of HSDPA on the side (and hence using up my data quota).

removing My Location from weather tab

its annoying cuz it seems their servers ( my location and htc's own ) are different . u add your location and then my location sets your location ( in this part u have 2 same cities ) the weather prediction from same city is different , i want to remove my location cuz its not reliable i guess ...
how can i do this ?

from what I have read from the forums, it is working with data connection.

Yes, so far I used it only via mobile net.

It doesnt work for all. I always get a connection error when connected to GSM, 3G or wifi.

it works fine on all connections

[How To] Config ad-hoc wifi with hd2

I am using ad-hoc wifi on my hd2 since a week.
I am using ad-hoc wifi with almost any rooted build.
I first go to wifi n settings and add and set up my ad-hoc connection.
It will show my connection not in range.
Then I use root-explorer and edit /data/misc/wpa_supplicant.conf
I add line ap_scan = 2 in the top
and add at the bottom of network section of my ad-hoc network
mode=1
priority=1
then I go to settings and switch on my wifi.
If then also net is problematic, I give static Id.
My gateway is 192.168.0.1
I give static ip 192.168.0.133 (13/3 is my birthday )
netmask 255.255.255.0

the problem is that after I rebooted into android my wifi doesn't work anymore..it tries to turn on and after that it says ERROR... any solution?

I too would like to properly tether.
Can any one post more specific I instructions on how to do this?

since this a wifi problem topic.... pls pls pls help me in something... whatever android build i used i cannot have a proper wifi connection !!! the phone connects to wifi with no trouble , BUT there is no data comming in ... so no webpage is loading , no weather , facebook or email.... the radio is 2.12.50.2_2 and rom is latest stock (1.66 greek) ... is there maybe a mod or something for this problem???? has anyone experienced the same? i got no other problems(robo voice , or lagy screen responce!) PLEASE suggestions !! i tried everything !!!

Did you set up the APN of your carrier, do you have a data plan activated?

I also, about 2 weeks ago, tried to connect my HD2 to my laptop ad-hoc wifi network, but unfortunately in the end I had the same result as adrian.mkl.86, broken wifi. I tried several instuctions from here and there but noting worked. Now I'm affraid to change anything in wpa_supplicant.conf, because wifi again will be down

i have same wifi problem. Turn out the device doesn't have the mac address at all. Does anyone know how to change the mac address in here? I try couple way but it doesn't work, like using fastboot

i try to use wifi for internet connection,using my wireless router, not internet from the 3g phone company(vodafone) . The phone finds wireless netework, gets an ip and establishes a connection BUT there is no data comming in... nothing loads... i have set APN but i think that hasnt anything to do with my wireless network... by the way the network is open so no wep/wpa key is needed, and never had issues with connections whatsoever.... Is there a way to see if packets are comming in to the phone?

This is a DNS problem. Try to manually enter a working DNS address.

Problem with Weather update in HTC HD2

Hello,
I'm from Bahrain and Recently I bought T-Mobile HTC HD2 from US. Everything works as it should except one problem I couldn't solve !
The weather update doesn't work when I click on update now it's ask me for permission to access Internet and download the data ! I allowed it to access Internet using Edge network but it's saying cannot get the data !
I read that this weather service use GPS to update the weather info why it's asking now for Internet connection? Is it necessary to access Internet to get the weather updates ?

gps just tells where you are, then this data is sent through the internet connection to get the weather forcast.
Some things just don't work very well with edge only. Have you tried wifi?
