This ROM has been available linked to the Wiki here for a while already. However, this is the official download site for the European HTC P3600, I entered in my IMEI number and downloaded it just for the fun of it.

This is the latest one dated 03.04.07. or there abouts.
This link also gives you free TomTom 6 with one free city map but you can key**n the other maps.

Arent they they the same? your link and the link inside that thread? I dont get it.
BTW it says taster on the site, I assumed its tester or something. A test app perhaps. anyway the link you gave and the link inside are identical.
Fair enough. This link may have been posted before. I was told that there was the new update relesed on 03.04.07 and it was more to alert people of that fact. The link will obviously point to the same place because any new ROM update will be posted there. So if you alrady new this than great and if you did not know about this then even better. I was just trying to help.

Taster??? Do you mean for TomTom? Taster probably means that they will give you a small map to get you interested in TomTom, then you'll have to buy more maps.

Hi all
Does anyone know any other location to download tomtom. I tried to download from this euro site, but it wont let me. It says my s/n is invalid. I'm guessing it's because I did not purchase the phone in Europe (I'm from Australia).
Thanks
Semir
My ROM is the latest???
OS 5.1.461 (build 15671.3.3.0)
ROM version 1.23.800.2 dated 02/08/07
Radio 1.38.00.11
Protocol 32.71.7020.12H
Any point updating to latest HTC ROM? bug fixes? better GPS accuracy?
Thanks,
Nir

I have not tested this TomTom yet but from what I understud you get fully functional software with one free city map. So if you use key gen for the other maps you should have official version of TomTom for trinity.
BUT I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS YET BECAUSE I AM WAITING FOR MY SD CARD TO ARRIVE!

This is what it is saying on the website:
New features and improvements are available with this operating software update.
GPS receiver capability enabled.
Browser improvements (mobile CSS, WAP, Iframe, etc.).
Bluetooth improvements.
New data network icons to differentiate between GPRS, EDGE, 3G and HSDPA connections.
Streaming player added.
and that is what I know about it.

You should have GPS settings under preferances. If you go in there and configure under "other NEMA" receiver. On mine it is on com9. It takes a couple of minutes to get "cold" start nut if little yelow and black circle in the top right corner is rotating it has found your GPS receiver. All you have to do now is go outside ar go very near to the window and wait for the "fix".

i think he has the same problem as me. latest belgian rom installed. tomtom 6.030 installed but that is a red herring.
the problem is that the GPS settings in system has disappeared! it was there a few days ago and now its just missing!
i mean start > system tab > GPS (that GPS config software has gone missing!!!)
SOLUTION:
Enable GPS Icon in Setting Tab
In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
1. Delete the DWORD marked Hide (if present)
2. Delete the DWORD marked Redirect (if present)
3. Add a DWORD called Group and give it a value of 2
4. Soft reset the device.
Now check in connections...

Maybe because there is no official HTC update for your geographic area...
So far, only DOPOD's clients from Australia New-Zeland, and South-East Asia have got an official update to go further than 1.23.XX series.
But to get back to the point, GPS should already be activated on your ROM.
Further upgrade issue, it's more about, having WM6 or not having it...
Hi -
I've seen messages touting Tomtom 7 as being great for use with the 6800. I can't find it for sale anywhere. Can anyone point out a good site to go to to purchase this product?
Thanks,
Tim
PS - I'm NOT looking for warez sites. I would be happy to pay a fair purchase price if it's wonderful.

Gosh, I don't know how I could have been more clear. I buy my software (assuming that it's not freeware, of course! )
Is Tomtom 7 actually in release yet? I don't see it listed on the tomtom company website.

Yes, I can post the cab for you and you can install it, though it won't do any good without the maps. You have to buy the maps from TomTom.

Ok, thank you very much for all your help. I would appreciate that.
One more question: when I go to the tomtom site and tell it that I want to purchase maps for tomtom 7, it only offers me maps for europe, the far east and the middle east. I was hoping to find maps for the united states. Is that not possible?
Thanks,

If I go to their site and select United States and then the map products, I can choose the Go 300 product and then pick which map you want. They have both USA and USA/Canada available in the 7.x version. $129 for just the USA map.
Thanks. I'll go check on that right now.
How can I legally obtain the software?
Here's the cab for TomTom 7. As I stated earlier though, you need to purchase the maps from TomTom.

Ok, thanks. I see that I can purchase tomom 7 maps from tomtom.com for europe and the near and far east, but not for the USA & Canada. Another person suggested above that I can get appropriate maps if I just start with saying that I have a GO300. Are the map files usable on any device? That is, does it matter that I'd be using the maps that he suggests on an xv6800 instead, or will they actually work ok? Also, will I need to download and use tomtomHome to actually install them?
Thanks,
Tim

I believe if you use the same version map as TTN then it will work. The Go300 has version 7 maps. You might be able to get the maps after installing TTN on your phone and doing it through that program.
Thanks for helping. I have to ask, though: what is TTN?

My understanding is that TTN7 was preloaded onto the HTC Diamond and is not for retail - just yet.
I can confirm that it is superior to TTN6 in terms of operability and of course the TT7 maps are more up to date. I was recently in Australia and a new toll road opened a few months earlier than scheduled and it was already available for navigation on TT7 maps.
I have not used the USA map on TT7 yet because I didnt want to shell out the $$$ just yet and TT6 maps seem to be just fine in my area.
Hi all
I'm running a legitimate copy of TTN7 on an HTC Touch Diamond. I'd like to add maps of North America, but the map store does not sell them for my version, only for Navigator 6. The map version available is 6.75. Does anybody know if this map will work OK with TTN7?

You need to go outside on a fairly sunny day turn on the gps and let it sit on for about 5-10 minutes. First connection always takes a very long time. If thats not the problem, I cant imagine what is, as the connection to the internal gps is automatic.

Hi I have an issue with Copilot 8 and havent managed to find a thread in here that mentions the issue I have.
I have the following versions
OS 5.2.21869
Manilla 2.5.19211619.0
ROM 1.48.405.2 WWE
Radio 2.05.51.05_2
I replaced the original 2GB SD card with an 8GB, and used the 2gb card in my daughters Nintendo DS, blatting everything on it.
Now I fancy trying Copilot, and whilst I can run the app, I cannot download any maps as it thinks I am in Africa (or only have permission to download those maps).
This is the same for Copilot Central and on the device, if i try to download anything else it just says "Error downloading files", for the African one it gives me a second screen asking me to confirm.
Am I missing something here? Or is it because I deleted the "trial" version maps on my SD card?
I have 15 days left on the trial to fix this :-S
Hope someone has had the same issue??

Agreed. However I bought CP7 early last year (I think) and it cost me nearly £60! I wrote to them recently asking if I could transfer my licence across rather than pay £26 for a new package when CP7 is perfecly adequate and they refused.
Fair do's I suppose, as they have got to make some money somewhere but disappointed nevertheless. The "get in lane" improvements in CP8 are worth it as I use this system in my car. However seeing that I have not yet had the full benefit out of the package I paid for last year I can't justify the extra expense and then have a whole package lying around doing nothing.
Shame.
WB
I think they are getting confused somewhere!
There is absolutely nothing to prevent you cancelling the license on one device then reactivating it on another one. The only thing they won't do, and this maybe where the confusion arose, is to transfer a license between platforms (WM -> Apple/Andoid and vice versa)
If you still have CPL on the original device, you can go into the Licensing screen and select to deactivate it. This needs an internet connection. Once deactivated, install the program on the new device and go through the online activation. If that doesn't work, complain again to ALK. There is no compulsion to upgrade to relicense the program.
Had the same issue with my trial. CoPilot sent me this link and it says just to copy the copilot folder to the memory card.

Worth keeping a note of this though - thanks
That's funny. My CoPilot Central 2.0 thinks I'm in Africa, too. When I used the KML-export function of my GPS-Tracks, that I had no use for, the only coordinates the KML-file contained were two hundred miles off the coast of Ghana in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Thats the link that got mine working, I still had the ROM version loaded on my HD2.
Now I can see what the product is like, the screenshots look pretty nice. Ive got an inbuilt satnav in the car, but for £26 I'd be tempted to get this as a walking aid.

Neil,
Thanks for the heads up. To be honest ALK make a great product but their Customer Service is diabolical. Rather than spend hours exchanging increasingly meaningless messages with them in that fixed format template format they are so fond of using which is so irritating and tells you absolutely nothing, I simply ditched all the CP8 folders on my device (bar the rom files which I can't move) and installed my paid for CP7.
Saves a whole load of hassle, from my perspective, and it works just fine.

Long shot but if you are trying to access CP Central from a PC, why don't you set-up a proxy server or use some other method to "hide" your IP address which might help solve the problem?
I have never done this for this purpose so it's unusual for me to recommend an action I have not tried myself; however if no one else has a better answer and you can't get CP Support to help then might be worth a go?

Don't bother with the Copilot support "contact form". It's totally useless, and they'll probably never reply. Instead send a "tweet" to http://twitter.com/copilotsupport/ or http://twitter.com/copilotlive/. That usually gets an answer within 24 hours.
Just did a highly convoluted update to CoPilot adding TTS (Text to Speech) ability. Didn't work (of course) . AFTER the fact, they tell you to install an update of the software, version 8.0.0.620 . IT WORKED! Why oh why can't they get their act together when it comes to customer service? Why not update the necessary files using the TTS installation??? Or why not just do an update of the software WITH TTS included??
Go here to check it out. Make sure you have 8.0.0.620 installed. http://www.alk.com/copilot/copilot8-tts.asp
-Bob-
Hmm well updated to 8.0.0.620 AND updated CoPilot Central 2.0 and you weren't kidding its a right pain and after all that it seems TTS isn't available in the UK yet. Well not on my HD2 yet anyway and I'm running the official 1.66 WWE ROM at the moment. On the brighter side though Live local search works and so does the Live traffic and the Fuel prices facility is a good idea
Silly question, but how did you guys update to 8.0.0.620?
Mine shows version number 8.0.0.457, but when I use the built-in "check for updates" function, it says it's "up to date". Also, in the online FAQ it says you probably shouldn't install the normal CoPilot on an HD2, since it requires a specially modified version for some features to work (ok, who needs Footprints, but still)...
God, I wish ALK would fix their stuff. The bloody navigation software itself is ok, but everything surrounding it is sheer torture.

Here's the link. Download the files directly from http://www.alk.eu.com/files/v8/winmobile/cabs/8.0.0.620-2577-tts.zip. This is the US site.
HOWEVER, I can't say if it'll work perfectly on your HD2. I DID install it. Seems to work. I ran a demo of a route and the TTS function worked well. Haven't tried Footprints since the update and I don't have the Car Kit. I hadn't noticed the warning, so...we'll see what happens.
ALK truly seems to be dazed and confused most of the time.
-Bob-
Hey, thanks!
The FAQ mentions "for example the Footprints application and Car Kit mode". I use neither of those, but that sneaky "for example" could be worrying. The only other device-specific feature I can think of is pinch-to-zoom. Might just try the upgrade and see if it works.

I'm out of my map coverage area, but did play with CoPilot a bit. I don't see any functional issues with the way I use the software. Pinch-to-Zoom works with 2D views, not with 3D (doing a route demo). I actually don't remember if PTZ worked in 3D before. Dragging the 3D view works. I'm not at all familiar with PhotoNav, so I can't comment except to say I have a blank screen. Is that supposed to work with coordinates and the camera somehow? EDIT: Looks like PhotoNav works too. But I'm out of a map area so am not totally sure.
I guess what I'm saying is that TTS is worth giving up any gimmicks that the HD2-specific version might have added (which I obviously never used ). And since I will be out of map range for the next 30 days, someone else is going to have to experiment to see what's missing on the HD2 (or what may have been added??).
I DO wish I could delete the old EXE software from the Windows directory, though.
-Bob-
Ah yes just checked and the footprints don't work with this version of copilot, but I've installed it on the memory card so I guess that didn't help, don't use em anyway.
Afraid I also don't use the car kit mode either so can't comment on that one.
I've been merrily using the update for a few days now and no problems at all, so I think its worth doing.
i have downloaded and installed this new version on my hd2. i got 8.0.0.620 confirmed at the info-screen now.
but somehow tts does not work in the demo.
do i need to activate a special voice/language or option? is it to be activated somewhere?
thanks for the help!

Hi yes I think you do need to select the correct voice if you go in to Language & Voice, then your language you should find a voice with an asterisk. Thats the text to speech one.
Just to clarify I've only read this and haven't tried it myself as I can't get TTS in the UK at the moment
